Pros: The two owners are the nicest people, the place is beautiful and the food is amazing! We really enjoyed our stay, higly recommended!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: In every aspect a paradise on earth. The location is perfect. Close to Bocas but it feels like an uninhabited island. The only thing you hear is the wildlife. Not even waves, because the water is still. The rooms are beautifully designed, comfortable, clean, the size of the bed is good, and the view is stunning. Also the pool is lovely, the water temperature is perfect; not too warm, not too cold. But most perfect of all are the owners Fabienne and Benoit. The sweetest people you can imagine, who will do everything and work very hard to make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. It almost felt like our parents where taking care us. In a good way! The cooking is amazing. I have to admit, normally we prefer vegetarian and sometimes meat, here we ate primarily fish and we had the best dishes we ate in years. Everything Fabienne made was delicious. No exceptions. We are really going to miss this place, but most of all we will miss Benoit, Fabienne and their lovely and cute dog Sanca. Hopefully we will come back to this wonderful place. Thank you for these unforgettable days! Jolijn en Jord

7.5 Good
Pros: I love the property and atmosphere. Super welcoming and accommodating. If you want the perfect hideaway to enjoy the sea breeze and relax over the water only, juuust far enough from the night life, this is the spot! So many things to list that were great; the open air shower over looking the bay, the lights on the water at night to watch the fish and stingrays, an open air kitchen for the guests, plenty of hammocks and swings to relax in...
Cons: Kind of hidden down an alley then down an over the water boardwalk.

Pros: The owner and his staff are the most friendly hosts we've met. Such a cool place and location.
Cons: Could not find anything negative at this place in paradise

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is simply great. Great and quiet location since away from the busy town center (but close with a taxi , 2 min, 1$; or 20 minutes walk). The only thing you hear in the room are the waves of the ocean. Breakfasts and dinners are great. Marco and his team are very polite and helpful. Taking a shower outdoors was always an experience. We felt at home there and hope to be back soon.
Cons: There is absolutely nothing to complain about.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Where to start.. we have just had the best time ever here, and it is the best place we've ever stayed. We had been looking forward to staying here for weeks but it still exceeded our expectations. Dolphins were around in the bay right in front of the hideaway everyday; spending time amongst them on the paddle boards and kayaks was amazing. Brian and Amy are fantastic hosts and you really feel welcomed into their hideaway. They went above and beyond to ensure we had the most brilliant stay. We had a great few days to just unplug and relax. The food is delicious - we were excited for breakfast and dinner everyday! They put a lot of love and effort into the food and it showed! We lucked out coming at this time of year (early october) as it was lovely and quiet (tip - come to Bocas in September/October for amazing weather but few people around). Everyday we had perfect, calm water perfect for dolphin spotting and paddle boarding. It has everything you need, great rooms, an area where you could get a work out in if you wanted, a plunge pool, awesome cocktails, lovely gardens complete with sloths and birds, and beautiful views over the bay. Overall, the weather, the quietness, dolphins, the hosting and everything else fed in to us having a brilliant stay and it did feel very much like a once in a lifetime experience - but we aim to come back one day!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything - an absolute gem of a place. Gorgeous location, Amy and Brian are incredible hosts, the food is outstanding, rooms are comfy, views superb
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amy and Brian were top friendly hosts, the food was so delicious and the quiet, beautiful surroundings and views were spectacular. We give Dolphin Bay Hideaway our very best recommendations.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: When we were looking for a vacation, we sought out a place that was eco-friendly and off the grid. That is when we encountered Dolphin Bay Hideaway (DBH). When I started reading reviews about DBH, I thought how could a place get such high marks? Well now I know. The ratings are justified. The entire staff at DBH make this an experience of a lifetime. The welcoming feel and the tranquility and beauty cannot be overstated. Amy and Brian have done an amazing job of creating a unique experience that refreshes the soul and allows one to escape to paradise. All of the details have been well thought out so that there is never a worry. The staff does an amazing job of preparing delicious meals and family dining experiences that are rich with real human interaction. We did some excursions - jungle hike, snorkeling/trip to Zapatillas, Green Acres Chocolate farm. We also made use of the kayaks and paddle boards to explore around Dolphin Bay. We went to the local taco stand and Market Monday at No Name Bar. Highly recommend all of these to connect to the local community and culture. Definitely enriched our stay. We are especially grateful to Jose Antonio who took care of us during our time at DBH while the proprietors were on vacation. He is an outstanding host and now friend. He introduced us to so many other local members of the Bocatorito community, all of whom were such warm and friendly people. Thanks for the experience and we look forward to another stay down the road at DBH.
Cons: Only regret is that we forgot to bring something for the local school. If you get the chance, please consider packing some school supplies to help them out.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Its a beautiful escape with wonderful warm hospitality in a bay in middle of a mangrove landscape - the food was amazing , the garden impressive and the hosts were very attentive and helpful. The house and our bedroom were high standard with a perfect bathroom and there had been so many appealing nice details such as nice caribbean colours everything in the house , beautiful arranged flowers etc. We had a beautiful snorkeling trip seeing corals and starfishes in all colors as well as dolphins and got to know so many self cultivated exotic plants , fruit and even animals we didn't know before. We certainly would always love to come back to Amy and Brians lovely paradise

Pros: Amazing location in a beautiful bay. Seeing dolphins outside was amazing. Lovely gardens. Great food and great hosts.

Pros: Amy and Brian have been the perfect hosts! Amy is a really great cook and Brian knows everything about the wonderful nature and exotic animals around Dolphin Bay. 10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! First, Felicitas is an amazing host. She went above and beyond for us to have the best possible experience in Bocas, which we did. She lent us two bikes on the first day and told us where we could go and where to eat. She has a great guide book that has a lot of information. She also helped us book amazing tours, one was the deep board which is super fun, and another one was an eco tour which was very special and incredibly fun. She even made us a banana bread for Christmas eve, which was amazing! Her place is really nice, it is clear that she puts a lot of effort which is greatly appreciated. Everything is clean, really pretty, and also functional. The place has a kitchen and we used it to have breakfast and even cook a couple of dinners, and we didn't miss anything. The wifi works perfectly. I was really sad to leave, I loved Bocas and this place made our stay even better. I would definitely go back if it is available!
Cons: Nothing! The place is amazing, everything was perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We felt in love with this stunning place the moment we stepped into the door. The place has a perfect location for those looking to spend a relaxing time and are planning some activities. The house is beautifully decorated and the majority of the deco is made by the owner which gives it a unique home feel and experience. For us the best thing was the large terrace looking towards the stunning garden with comfy hammocks where you can enjoy watching the numerous hummingbirds- priceless! There are only 3 rooms which makes it a very cosy and homelike accommodation. The rooms have super comfy beds, aircon and are spotless clean. Felicitas was an excellent host! She is super friendly and went above and beyond helping us plan our activities and giving us recommendations about everything. All in all, the perfect stay, wish we could have stayed longer but we will definitely come back.
Cons: Everything was perfect!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Palmyra is a small but very, very fine apartment. I was very lucky to get a room here because there are only 3 rooms, which makes it a very exclusive accommodation. Even more exclusive is, that the Palmyra only accommodates persons over the age of 25 . You feel like you have won the lottery as soon as you arrive! The rooms are simply wonderful and much better equipped than all the hotels I stayed at in Panama. Most hotels offer much less, but are twice or even three times as expensive. At the Palmyra one does not only get a super clean, top equipped room, a super equipped modern common kitchen and a huge private terrace to relax, but also free bicycles at an absolutely sensationally low price. The safety measurements are outstanding! The lovely owner is an amazing hostess. I felt very comfortable and welcome! Thank you for everything!
Cons: To leave this oustanding great place!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We couldn't have chosen a better place for our time in Bocas. 10/10 on everything from cleanliness to location, from comfort to hospitality. This place is perfectly designed for outdoor living with roofed terraces where guests can relax on comfortable armrest seats and hammocks while enjoying the numerous hummingbirds in the beautiful garden. The rooms and the kitchen are beautiful and simply fantastic equipped. The location is just a few minutes walk from downtown Bocas, but offers tranquility and relaxation. With over forty years of travelling across six continents and hundreds of different accommodations, we rank the owner and this place among the best. The owner takes excellent care of her guests. Her recommendations to tour operators, restaurants, etc. are excellent and she helps guests avoid travel traps. It is also fantastic that you get free bicycles that you can use at any time. The bikes are in excellent condition and it is a real pleasure not only to be independent of taxis, but also to see and experience so much more. Thanks again for an unforgettable stay.
Cons: We loved everything about this place.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and the owner was very attentive. Its also close enough to walk to Bocas Town but far enough away so you did not have to put up with traffic and crowds.
Cons: Everything was pretty much as expected. Showers were a bit hard to gauge (hot and cold). No breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place has a lot of personality, which makes you feel like home. Great accomodation, very comfortable, high standard and good price, too. Amazing Host! I will try to get back
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was beautiful in an charming Caribbean colonial house with a great view into the tropical garden with large windows that open and a magnificent large terrace to enjoy the numerous hummingbirds. The apartment was done to a high standard and the owner of the property was super nice and friendly. I visit Bocas fairly regularly and stay in hotels and thought I'd try this type of property and I wasn't disappointed. It is an apartment property (not a hotel) so there is no reception desk for example, but it more than makes up for it in charm and style. The owner was extremely welcoming and helpful, but not intrusive. This is a real gem in a fantastic location... close to everything, but it is also very quiet, tucked away from the chaos of central Bocas. If you want to explore Bocas and feel like a local, this quintessential apartment is perfect.
Cons: Absolutely nothing not to like.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Thank you, Felicitas for a great time in Bocas and your fantastic apartment! From the beginning, I felt „like home“. The apartment is very cozy and super clean, all is set up with lovely attention to detail. The most comfortable bed ever! Perfect coffee and tea making facility in the room including great tea & coffee, sugar & milk, as well as an in-room fridge and an in-room safe. Everything is so well thought through- I love it! The common kitchen is absolutely gorgeous! The owner, Felicitas, is very friendly and sympathetic and she gave me lots of helpful information. I loved to ride my bike to the beaches! Thank you again!
Cons: Everything is super!
7.9 Good
Pros: The guesthouse is very clean with a well equiped kitchen and has nice terrace to sit in the garden. The provided bikes come in handy for lastminute beach visits. The owner was very nice and willing to help with tips for activities and excursions. Late checkout due to a flight delay was not a problem at all.
Cons: Nothing in particular, although the acomodation is somewhat more expensive than other hostels in the neighbourhood
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely amazing place. The Palmyra felt like our second home. The owner, Felicitas, is a very friendly and warm person you will enjoy talking to. The expression "my house is your house" has all its meaning here. Our room was very spacious, perfectly clean, super comfortable and beautifully decorated, the facilities are simply the best we have ever had in any type of accommodation! The common kitchen is of high quality and perfectly equipped. We used the free bikes to get to the beaches, which was fantastic! Felicitas gives you great tips on the things you can do in the area, and her tips are simply the best! We wish we could stay there forever :) Thank you for everything!

Pros: Gary and Betsy went out of their way to make the stay an enjoyable one. Very attentive to any of our needs and made a point to help us locate and see some of the local island inhabitants(sloth, frogs...). Would come again!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Most beautiful place I’ve ever been after visiting 45 countries. The powerful ocean surrounded by incredible natural beauty create the perfect environment for relaxation and unplugging. The food was wonderful, the cocktails delicious with fresh fruit juices, a nice selection of wines. The room was a dream, built to make the most of the surrounding environment, and with renewable solar energy and filtered rain water, this place is eco-friendly, sustainable, and responsible. The room has all the amenities you need for survival in this tropical heaven: small coolers, aluminum water bottles, umbrellas, they thought of everything!!! Loved everything about The Hummingbird, but especially loved Betsy and Gary who were incredible hosts!!! We’ll be back as soon as we can!!!
Cons: I did not like having to leave, could’ve stayed much longer!

Pros: This property is located outside of the noise of Bocas. The beach is clean and the jungle is lush. Waking up to hummingbirds and waves crashing was wonderful!

Pros: A fantastic boutique hotel with very friendly owners who make you feel extremely comfortable. I wanted somewhere out of the hustle and bustle of a town and this was a perfect place to truly relax. There is plenty of information about local tours and Gary and Betsy can help you out if needed. We loved just staying around Bluff beach and taking a walk to La Piscina. Seeing the wildlife was a bonus!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting and lovely owners and staff
Cons: Access from Bocas Town to Playa Bluff is terrible.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It's a very special place... just awesome. A little get away in a nice garden with a lot of animals which the owners can find. We have seen 2 types of monkeys, Tukan, Parrots, Sloths, different type of colorful frogs. Not far from the beach, no deck chair there, but at the pool. Hammocks Close to a little beach bar. Don't need more to relax. EXCELLENT food! Huge portion... you can always share, even the starters. Ingredients are really good... didn't expect something like that there
Cons: Nothing.

Cons: Breakfast and Wifi conection could be improved, but in general was enough.

Pros: Turtle Beach House is an absolute dream. We were welcomed like family and felt relaxed straight away. The location is wonderful, make sure you have at least one day allocated to Playa Bluff and the local beach bar/restaurants as they were the best we found in the area. Suzanne also teaches yoga which is amazing when you are missing your normal exercise routine. We would recommend this BnB to everyone, don’t hesitate to book it!

Hostal Hansi - Bocas del Toro - Building

9.4 Excellent (957 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Situated in Bocas Town, Hostal Hansi offers a garden and terrace. The accommodation features a shared kitchen. At the guest house, all rooms are equipped with a desk and a fan. Certain rooms at Hostal Hansi also offer a garden view. Please note not all rooms have hot water.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable clean room with private bathroom. Ceiling fan was enough for me to keep cool at night. Staff was incredibly friendly. Would stay again.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The host of the hostel, Janis, was super helpful and friendly from the minute we arrived. The hostel is VERY clean and organised well. There is free coffee and tea all day and bikes to hire for a decent price ($6 a day) from the hostel. Janis doesn’t like packing dorm rooms full if that’s not needed so although rooms are small, we never felt short on space. We asked for an upgrade to a private room for the second night, just to have our own space (not because the dorm was bad), and this was made possible immediately for a very small extra fee. The vibe is friendly and chilled - no mad parties until 4am but plenty of socialising. One of the guys who works at the hostel is a great cook and “family style” dinner is offered each night for a decent price ($7-8).
Cons: Our mattress and pillows weren’t super comfortable in the double but that’s not a huge problem. The showers are warm but not hot which didn’t bother us but may bother some.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Best hostel we have stayed in. Lovely comfortable room, quiet too at back! Very helpful staff. Great location.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We have been backpacking and staying in hostels, homestays and hotels across South and Central America for almost 5 months now and this was by far one of the best. Spotlessly clean, in a perfect location with a nice relaxed vibe, it was the perfect place to stay (so much so that we are cutting short our non-refundable stay at Selina to go back here). It was great value for money compared the other places on the island. The lady on reception was very friendly and welcoming and the staff were frequently cleaning the property. The kitchen was excellently well-equipped and fridges were organised so that the occupants of each room had their own allocated space. We would highly recommend Hansi.
Cons: Sometimes the bars nearby were a little loud until midnight, but this is nothing to do with the property. The place was excellent.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and ambiance. It was nice to have the patio with tables and chairs for sitting outside.
Cons: You really should consider providing COFFEE to your guests. Everyone had to bring their own, and it was pretty hectic with everyone trying to make coffee at the same time. Providing coffee would be a big plus.

Pros: We absolutely loved this Retreat. We booked a superior queen room And it was so beautiful and large with its own balcony area overlooking the jungle trees. We were so Impressed with it being totally off grid and solar powered and yet it had all modern facilities. The propert doesn’t have air conditioning because the design of the property had these beautiful shutters on all of the rooms so the ocean breeze can flow freely when it is open, the fans work great too. The main building where we stayed had a beautiful big kitchen to cook. the facilities were incredible, we used the free bikes and the pool pretty much everyday, and lazed around on the double hammocks they had on the balcony listening to the ocean waves crashing on the beach. Milka one of the staff members was an excellent chef! And a lovely person. She.taught me how to make holjadras (a Panamanian bread) on our last morning. Karen and Steve the mangers were so lovely and warm, genuine people. We will be raving about this place to our friends <3 Thank you for having us!
Cons: The road to bluff beach had been damaged by previous storms so it was a bumpy ride but that has nothing to do with the hotel itself. It does make you feel more off the beaten track which isn’t a bad thing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a great time at the Bluff Beach Retreat. Really beautiful rooms and house, a really delicious breakfast, perfect location (a really calm area and the house was 1 min away from the beach - the most beautiful beach I've ever seen), everything was perfectly clean and we had the best hosts that someone could wish for. Karen and Steve made us feel like home and gave us great recommendations.
Cons: Everything was great
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was absolutely beautiful. A huge pool submerged in the green palm trees and pretty flowers. The beach right across the road was lovely too and we were lucky that the waters were calm for a couple of days. Karen and Steve were brilliant hosts and went out of their way to help us and set up tours, taxis and anything else we needed.
Cons: Only thing was no AC but it didn’t effect our enjoyment.

Pros: Since the begining the staff made us feel like home. Very friendly. Rooms are clean, location is excelent to enjoy the beach!!! Totally recommend it!

9.0 Excellent
Pros: We chose this property because we had an early morning flight and Stay is directly across the street from the airport. When we checked in we told the staff we were sad we would be leaving too early for breakfast and she said very kindly said she would get up early to accommodate us. We were able to check our bags into the flight early then return to have a nice breakfast and coffee before departure!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Phenomenal host, very helpful with many recommendations, super friendly vibes all around great ping pong table
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed at Stay Bocas our first night in Bocas before moving on to our sailboat trip. We enjoyed the quiet location, cleanliness and room size of the modern style rooms, and staff service that we stayed again our last night in Bocas. The location 50 feet from the airport terminal is a bonus. Don't let the location scare you, there are only a few flights per day in and out and it's away from the often horrendous noise of Bocas Town. It's a three minute walk to all the Town action (restaurants, bars, shops, water taxis, etc.). We met the owner, Jorge, and he's a delight and offered several good recommendations for dinner. We ate at "Octo" our last night and it was delicious. We enjoyed the Grilled Octopus (thus the restaurant name) and the grilled smoky Fish Burger. Octo's coconut rice and beans are not to be missed. Highly recommend Stay Bocas for a short or long stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast is really good. The staff is super super friendly !!! The room was very clean.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Cozy & clean accomodation, good breakfast, great people!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Incredibly friendly staff, including the owner himself. They make you feel welcome the whole time. The rooms are nice and look new (as of Jan '20). Pretty great breakfast options for a hostel. It's right next to the airport, a one minute walk; convenient at arrival and the airport noise is minimal. It's a 5-10 minute walk into town, which was a plus for us, because no noise (except for the neighbors, who partied one night...)
Cons: The room had the worst storage facilities of anything we ever stayed at. Not even real bedside tables, just triangular boards in the corners. And while the room is charming and clean altogether, the water faucets at the sink and in the shower were disgusting. The windows are small and about 10 feet off the ground, so you can't look outside. Gives it a basement vibe. It's a 5-10 minute walk into town, which may be a minus for some...
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Nice modern room, basic but everything you need. Lovely bed, airconditioning and fan, soft towels, a safe. It’s not far from the Center (5-10 min walk to everything). The staff is really helpful and nice, and so is the owner. They have a nice front porch where you can play games, read a book or enjoy breakfast. Would definitely recommend!

Pros: Super clean with very nice staff and attention to customers needs.

Pros: The owners were extra friendly and helpful with what to do, where to go, and made an amazing breakfast that you can eat while looking out at the bay. The location is is a nice and quiet section of the island. There are bikes you can use to explore the island or to go to the central area. There are also 2 kayaks you can use. I spent one afternoon kayaking around the bay and through some mangroves. The rooms have a/c units and also a regular fan. Beds were comfortable and shower pressure was great! I’d stay here again!
Cons: I loved everything and had no complaints.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This little B &B is located right on the water. You can sit on the dock and drink your morning coffee while gazing at a coral reef. Seriously. Our hosts were friendly and very accommodating. Bikes and kayaks were available to us which was super cool. Great vibe at this place. Definitely want to return.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The property is built into the water with a lovely veranda where you can sit and watch the sunset. Breakfast was amazing and the hosts were lovely, really helpful (they organised a taxi for us), and they have bikes and kayaks to use for free.
Cons: The location is a bit far out of town and the walk can be dark/a bit intimidating at night if you were on your own. The place was lovely however it was one of the more expensive places we have stayed in our trip.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly owners who made us feel very comfortable, gave us all the help and advice you could need and offered us an excellent breakfast every day on the nice outside deck, all served with a smile - thanks Chapo! Bikes and kayaks available for use, some of the best sunset views in town and quiet location. Great value I think
Cons: 15 min walk into town, but it's a small problem as there are bikes and taxis all the time.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The views from the dock were great, so relaxing watching the sunset on this side of the island. There is use of 2 kayaks which Angie gave some great suggestions on where to go in them. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. Use of the kitchen is also great, with an amazing range of delicious breakfasts cooked fresh each morning! Some very cuddly dogs live there too! Could not rate this place better.
Cons: The bnb is a little far from the main town but there is use of free bikes to get around so not an issue at all!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: * Breakfast - tasty and loads! Choice of eggs, French toast, pancakes all with fruit and coffee. * Free bikes * Free kayaks (we didn’t get to use them because of the weather but they were in better condition than anywhere else we’ve seen) * Rumba the friendly dog! * Lovely view over the ocean from the decking * Super comfy bed * Clean room * Helpful owners * Quiet location away from the main town * Close to nice restaurants (recommend Toms) and boats to other islands * Close to a well stocked supermarket (Tony’s) * Well equipped kitchen * Good WiFi if that matters to you. * Somewhere to dry clothes after a day at the beach! * Really good value and so far the best place we’ve stayed travelling in Central America for the cost.
Cons: *Shower was cold - not sure if it was having a off few days!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Owners are very friendly and helpful. There are bikes and kayaks that the guests can use. Coffee and food was very good! Location is just outside of town and is an easy walk, bike ride or taxi ride. We will return.

Pros: -Located waterfront -Clean rooms, bed comfortable -Diving school next door -Hotel Staff was friendly -Dive teacher (Kelly) was absolutely fantastic.
Cons: -The room was tiny, bathroom couldn't be used by 2 persons at the same time -One day no room service -There are no shutters and the curtains are too small and do not detain light, so you will be awake by the first sunbeam. Very annoying if you want to sleep a bit longer in your vacation. -They don't accept AMEX credit card, which is ridiculous for a hotel located in Central America. -Shower water had no or very changing pressure -The internet was weak and most of the time unusable
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Brand new hotel, best sunset of the island, free kayak and paddle, great food and the owners were very welcoming. Definitely recommend!
6.0 Good
Pros: A lot of nice little stuff hidden in furniture belonging to the diving interests Diving shop just inside and big boat Good breakfast with slow service Location is good, not inside the party zone
Cons: Very noisy in every sense. Through the window you hear the outside and through the inside doors and walls you hear inside everything.Apparently not good deadened against sound. We could hear the neighbors talkings... just talking not screaming. Had to use earplugs all the time, my partner not but heard people coming home/ opening their door/ talking on the same floor...

9.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff and management is absolutely delightful and they go out of their way to have people enjoy themselves and have a chance to connect. I can't imagine a better place to land as a solo-traveler. The food is sensational - spoil yourself, it's worth every cent! Due to its commitment to eco-tourism the lodge attracts mostly open-minded and environmentally conscious people and not your average party crowd which I enjoyed very much - even though most of them were half my age (which didn't matter much). If you love nature, good food, a relaxed atmosphere and like to meet people with interesting backgrounds, this is the place to go!
Cons: The room is nice and airy (no air-con needed) but lacks privacy and is pricey for what it offers. The last part of the path to the room is not lit at all even though it has stairs. The room was ok clean but only after reporting it 4 times was the dead gecko together with the corresponding ants removed from my shower blinds.

Pros: Incredible good hostmanship from this couple with their beautiful staff makes you sink in the environment
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Such a beautiful place and lovely people!!! Thank you for a great time.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent stay in a private bungalow at this luxury hostel. Very relaxing atmosphere, gorgeous views, very nice pool, delicious fresh food and the coffee is amazing (probably the best in Bocas del Toro), nice and not too loud music, eco-friendly and completely off the grid. But, one wouldn't know it with the excellent amenities and service. Make sure you read the owner's story of how the Lodge came to be, it's amazing it exists at all. Highly recommended.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The vibe is amazing, wow!! A lot of nice people and a lot of places to hang out with the other travelers. The family style dinner is also a good way to meet the other travelers in the hostel and the food is so delicious. Very nice view from your bed at the swimming pool and a really fun waterslide. And the hike from the hostel to hospital point is also very nice! To sum it up an amazing hostel experience, I would definitely go back sometime I really loved it.
Cons: Food was quite expensive for backpackers on a budget and there is no kitchen so you have to eat at the restaurant

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Palmar Lodge is by far one of my favourite places to stay in Central/South America. It has been beautifully put together and you spend your time surrounded by jungle and the beach. It’s the perfect place to chill out and enjoy Caribbean island life. All the facilities are immaculate and eco-friendly (this includes hot showers and very decent and comfortable dorm rooms). The restaurant and bar serve amazing food (reasonable value) and there’s plenty of lovely communal space to relax and meet other travellers. The staff are friendly and welcoming and run daily activities such as yoga and quiz nights if you want to get involved. We did a day boat tour from the island but equally enjoyed exploring Bastimentos as you can walk to deserted beaches from the lodge. It’s the perfect island stay (especially if you want to avoid Bocas Town!)
Cons: There are no kitchen facilities if you wanted to bring your own food, but the restaurant has a pretty good menu which is reasonably priced.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! The friendly staff, comfortable beds, showers, beach access, restaurant, hangout areas, activities, etc. Palmar Beach Lodge is a very special place where I will come back to again and again!
Cons: Having to leave.
6.0 Good
Pros: I liked the activities that they offer by volounteers
Cons: Service quality, especially in the restaurant, could be improved
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is amazing! We stayed in one of the tents for four nights and loved it. It was fun to escape to the jungle and go off the grid for a few days, and the wifi was surprisingly good given the location. It's the perfect place to relax.
7.0 Good
Pros: Can see location would be great with good weather. Places has a nice vibe to it
Cons: Unfortunately the weather during our time was not good. Rough seas so could not swim. Lots of rain so everything damp. Food was not great. Could not get a coffee after breakfast hours.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Really cool place, in the Jungle, near beautifull beach. Tents are comfortable, jungle is amazing, perfect for young and active people. Also you can hear lots of birds, we saw a sloth going down near the restaurant. Food is good and healthy.
Cons: Tents are quite old.
6.3 Good
Pros: The beach is absolutely amazing and it’s fun swimming in the waves. The ceviche is fantastic, burger and tacos okay.
Cons: Unfortunately the stuff doesn’t make you feel very welcome. Sorry!

Pros: Rhonda, Steve and the entire team were great, they go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your stay. I stayed twice with them, first 3 nights, and returned for another 3 nights and had good experience at both times. They even helped me out when i mixed up my reservstions (thank you for saving me twice!). The location is excellent to stay away from the busy Bocas center, right by the sea; you can pretty much fall asleep to the sound of waves. The restaurant and the bar doesnt disappoint. The communal kitchen has everything if you wanna cook yourself. Plus most comfy mattresses i had in Panama. Overall, highly recommended!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Facilities were great, comfortable beds, clean sheets, private bathrooms for each rooms aside from downstairs bathrooms near the pool, staff was friendly and efficient. The restaurant and drinks were good and not too expensive. Lots of options for tourism activities are provided. Would absolutely come back and recommend it as a great place to stay in Bocas.
Cons: Was a bit far from town but nothing too major, we still got taxis once we started walking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were friendly and helpful, owners are on site and very engaging and entertaining! The room was decorated nicely, it was clean, and very comfortable. The waves were right outside our room, what a wonderful experience! The bar and restaurant were excellent deliscious food! Lots of activities available, great enviornment!
Cons: That we couldnt stay longer
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had 5 wonderful days at Skullys. We had a private room with a fantastic view. Comfy beds. The staff was very accommodating to all our requests. The grounds were kept clean with many games for entertainment. The kitchen facilities were convenient, for a quick meal. The owner Steve was a great host. Great location for surfing. And finally, complete your stay with the fun jungle ride on quads.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about this place is amazing. The location, the vibe, the staff, the food, the facilities. It's a small hostel as in there are not to many people staying here but big in what they have to offer. The beds are really comfortable, the rooms have a cool bunk bed layout with even double beds. - and enough space to store your stuff safely Besides that the food is really good, from breakfast to dinner, the lounge area around the pool and the beach are amazing! I would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone who wants to stay in a good hostel while enjoying Bocas! - a taxi ride is only 3 dollar and it's really worth staying here. We even stayed 2 days extra, so 6 in total. Thank you skully for our amazing time at your fantastic hostel!
Cons: I have not one negative point, this hostel is amazing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is amazing and I strongly recommend that you stay here! It was beautiful. Clean. Staff were very nice and helpful. The owners Were amazing! The restaurant is excellent -do your self a favor and take the burger. The ATV tour is very unique and well worth the high price.
Cons: The only problem which I guess is all around the area was a water issue. The shower had a bit of a hot water issue which the owner really tried hard to fix for us.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely view from room, very peaceful, and wonderful owners.
Cons: A little more attention to be paid to the details in the rooms, with regards to fittings and amenities.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great sea view and quiet place. Only four rooms in the hotel. The hotel staff (Katy, the woman that does everything) was really nice, helpful, and cooks really good.
Cons: Wifi signal is a little weak in the outermost cabin which we were staying; strong signal everywhere else. A description indicating the hotel facilities consist of the rooms and common area (restaurant/deck) only would be helpful for guests to be fully aware that that is it. No further amenities or space because the entire hotel is built on top of the water. It would also be helpful to indicate that to get to/from the hotel to go anywhere you need a water taxi. Water taxi was $5/person one way (November 2019) to get to Colon Island (Bocas Town).
7.9 Good
Pros: Large, comfortable, clean room Own hammock on the shared deck Brilliant experience when we didn't have neighbors in the room next to us, very quiet and peaceful Amazing view from the deck Very friendly staff, willing to accommodate our needs, they offered us a kayak for free for one day Own chef at the property so you have the opportunity to eat a really delicious dinner without having to go to Bocas Town - the first night we were the only guests there so we basically had our own chef
Cons: Overall a great place, but the moment you have neighbors in the room next to you on the deck, your privacy vanishes. You hear everything, including whispering. Transportation to/from bocas town could be better arranged - maybe a collaboration with some reliable taxi drivers would be an idea since the average water taxi companies in Bocas are a scam. Shady people who don't even know where the hotel is offer to bring you there for 15 dollars or more. The dinners are really good but moderate to high priced, while the breakfast which is included is extremely basic - 1 (or 2 on request) egg with some toast and marmelade. Overall the location was amazing, but for the price asked we would have expected some small things included (eg. a ride or 2 to bocas since they had the opportunity and the means to do it, a fresh juice for breakfast, on the house cocktail or something) No cleaning in the room during our stay No TV in the room which might be good, depending on what you are expecting from this kind of place
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I went with a friend to Aqui hoy cabanas. We really enjoyed it! The accomodation is good, nice and clean rooms and the staff was really friendly! The owner is concerned with all the guests and will help you if needed (boat, excursions etc). Food and the breakfast is also good.
Cons: Not a problem (because the owner will help you), but you can only leave the accomodation by boat
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We stayed at Aqui Hoy Cabanas 2 nights in July 2018.The owners were very friendly, they took care of every detail of our stay: from a phonecall 2 months before our trip (when we booked and asked questions via Booking website), through a local transport, excellent food prepared by a local chef (and owners themselves), to helping us with external trip booking. Whatever they did not know the local chef could answer. We felt there like visiting a friend in a foreign country. It is clear that thier bussiness is their priority, and they make every effort to run the small hotel located in the middle of the sea as well as they can. The place is unique: you actually sleep directly above the water with fish jumping around the balcony. It is located in the middle of the wide life but it has all the amienities one would expect to find in a hotel: Wi-Fi, hot water, mosquito nets in the windows, comfortable beds, ecologically friendly sewage system, modern bathroom with a good shower. If we were to visit Panama again, we would definitely repeat.
Cons: All was perfect
9.6 Excellent
Pros: My boyfriend and I spent three incredibly relaxing days at the Aqui Hoy Cabanas. Heiner, the new owner of the resort took great care of us, assuring our entire stay was comfortable. He was very attentive and accommodating. Due to the smaller size of the resort, every detail was overlooked/perfected and all requests were met. Heiner went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. He helped us with everything from our boat rides to day tours. The over-the-water bungalows themselves were very clean and spacious. We enjoyed swimming around the property during the day and sitting out on the deck at night (the hammocks are a great touch!). The water around the bungalows is beautiful and clear. There is starfish and all types of other fish swimming around. Very cool to have right outside your room! The meals we ate here were some of the best we've ever had. The dinners in particular! They were multiple courses and all delicious. Miguel is an extremely talented chef. Isla Solarte isn't a well populated island so it was very quite (no roads or other structures very close to the resort), making it a very nice, almost off the grid island getaway feeling while at the property. We had an amazing stay here, Thank you!
Cons: While the feeling of being off the grid was very nice and relaxing, it the location had a slight drawback as far as transportation was concerned. The boat rides were about $5/person each way to the different islands. And boats stop driving around 9-10pm (this could just be an off-season thing...we went in late May). Nothing of the Aqui-Hoy's fault, just something for travelers to be aware of. We almost had to swim back one night because there were no boats! As long as you have a prearranged ride or are back before 9pm you should be okay!

8.0 Excellent
Cons: There was no filter water and we had to purchase individual small bottles of water during our whole stay. What a waste! This is not something you'd expect at any all inclusive place, not to mention in a place that markets itself as environmentally friendly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: breakfast very good
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly and the food was good. The over the water location was gorgeous.
Cons: It rains a lot in Bocos and there were bugs and geckos in the rooms. The food is expensive. The huts are very rudimentary, but that’s part of appeal. You can only leave by the hotel boat or water taxi, so you can tend to feel a bit isolated. However, the hotel was very good about arranging rides and setting up excursions.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing and quiet place !
7.5 Good
Pros: The cabanas are over the water, you Can see fishes just next to your cabana. The staff is very nice and friendly. The location is quiet and relaxing as there is nothing else there.
Cons: The hotel needs either to do a refurbishment or to lower the prices as it is way to expensive for What you get. The bath water is strange, it seems the sea water badly filtered...you need to wash your teeth and face with botled water (wich they provide)
9.0 Excellent
Pros: absoloty great stff help with everything! great people actully speak english and were very helpfull, have a suttle to the main land and back or to leave free of charge, nice taxi boat to the starfish beach. absolotly amazing location, coral right on the hotel as well as a reef shark! hundreds of starfish and great location
Cons: location far so taxi boats try to charge allot and the shuttle wasnt very clear to us, breakfest is expenssive and does in fact require payment for every product on it own: 2 $ coffee, 2 $ milk 3 $ butter and jam 2$ toast. dinner was expensive as well and the food wasnt that exciting... furtheremore, we took a taxi boat to the starfish beach that the hotel arranged(cost: 8 $ back and forth) but were unshore of the payment so gave the driver 20$ and were told to ask the desk for change that then informed us that he must have mistaken the 20$ for a tip since the hotel charges for the trip! the hotel returen the 20$ but i didnt appreciate the attempt
5.0 Okay
Pros: - Hammock - Location away from the city - Sheets and beds were ok (except for bugs)
Cons: - Food was overpriced and badly cooked (e.g. 'charcoal' chicken, 'toast' burger..). City is too far away to get to for all the meals - Staff unhappy with their job and would roll eyes when ordering - Bed bugs - Very run down place - not like in the pictures - No wifi in the room/ no phone charging phone in the room - The taxi they recommended was 3 times more expensive than a random boat

Pros: Best location! Close enough to the action but far enough to be perfectly quiet at night. Super clean, comfortable bed, with very friendly and warm hosts. Excellent value for the price, and the pizza is delicious!!!

Pros: We adored this place in Bocas. Fantastic owners - and proper Italian coffee. Exceptionally clean (common areas, room and bathroom!)
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We liked that it was really quiet and away from all the hustle and bustle of bocas town. We were able to make some tea and we had a fridge. The air con was strong. It's a short stroll to bocas town.
Cons: There wasn't really anything we didn't like about the place.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location in the town center but off the main street. As someone said, the hotel from the outside doesn't look much, but the rooms are beautifully decorated and comfortable. Very clean, with hot shower and a fridge. Owners are also nice and friendly.
Cons: The only thing is that my room balcony was like a waiting area in front of the room, with not much of a view of only roofs of other houses.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly, helpful and funny owner. Good location: not in the very busy centre, but very close to it, so you don't have to go far for restaurants and bars, but you don't have the noise (apart from the planes ;-) ). The rooms are a bit old fashioned, but good beds, a good shower and good aircon, so that's what matters! The ground floor of the hotel is an Italian restaurant as well (same owner). We definitely would like to recommend it! Super great pizza's!
Cons: The wifi connection was very bad. It didn't work in the room upstairs and only from time to time downstairs. As the hotel is just 300 meters from the airport (it's probabely the first time we went to an airport on foot :-D ) don't let the noise of the planes frighten you. Fortunately, there are no flights at night (and only 3 or 4 during the day) so it is not really a burden. Moreover, it is amazing to just see the planes so close above!
