10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really enjoyed staying at an authentic ryokan. The private onsen will great too!
5.0 Okay
Cons: There was a Bad musty smell in room may be due to toilet. Ito was a little dead that time of year but staff were very nice and helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best place I’ve stayed in Japan! Such a cool old building with lovely staff who were very helpful and good fun! Aswell as the hostel Ito and the places the hostel staff recommended to eat and drink were so nice! Very cheap for what it is and would definitely recommend!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: They have public onsen and also a private one. I had a lovely stay too bad I only stayed 2 nights.
Cons: Nothing absolutely perfect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I have to admit I randomly decided to go to Ito, and my night there was amazing solely due to K’s House! This grand hostel mixes modernity and tradition in subtile ways, and will never feel enclosed! The in-house hostel is amazing and strongly recommended!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: English speaking, informative staff. Lots of fun and a clean, central and historical place to stay.
Cons: None.. our best Japan stay to date!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very happy and helpful staff Great location Traditional and historical atmosphere is fantastic Kitchen facilities are very functional View of the river out the window was very pleasant
Cons: Nil
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Traditionally Japanese.
Cons: No enough showers.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely, historical hostel in Ito which we have stayed in on my previous occasions and decided to come back for the atmosphere, comfort and experience. We booked a private family room with four futon beds and a private bathroom which was a wonderful authentic experience. The onsen downstairs is one of our favourites in Japan so the complimentary 24 hour use was amazing.
Cons: Unfortunately on this occasion we were kept awake late in to the night by other guests downstairs in the living room who were rowdy and noisy well past 12.30am. We understand that this a hostel but would have appreciated a quiet rule after 11pm for people who need to get decent sleep to be up early the next morning. Such a beautiful hostel should be treated with more respect.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The onsens were amazing!
Cons: Perhaps more info on fun things to do while staying in Ito

Pros: Staff and location
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent! We highly recommend! Very kind host. Easy check in and check out. Very clean. Big supermarket and train station very close. Good english. Very good breakfast, western style also available. Very good coffee. 5+ stars. Thank you for everything!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff and owner were very kind and friendly. It’s also kids friendly place too. The room was so spacious. We also could use a big bathroom privately. We’re repeater and we come back again next year.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff is really amazing! We had a great stay because of how helpful they were. The food (we only had dinner) was pretty amazing! It was also so so much! The staff offered to drive us to different sightseeing options, but there is plenty to do just by walking around the area. The walks around the coast are absolutely beautiful! They arranged so that we could use the bath as a couple, which is also quite nice since we often can't visit together. When leaving they helped us to phone our next accommodation. Overall a really nice place to stay. Rooms are fine and clean, but the staff was really exceptional!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It`s a perfect offer for your holiday at Izukogen, caring owners family, amazing overall experience and a great value for the money they charge. Private hot bath, yukata provided, a true ryokan experience. Free massage armchair. Owner was kind enough to meet us at the station and give us a lift back too. I also rented an electric bicycle from him to go to the coast and explore the area.
Cons: Everything was just perfect, thank you once again!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Property is managed by a Japanese family who were extremely hospitable. They offered to give us a lift to Mt. Omuro on our arrival and always checked with us where we wanted to go, in case they could drop us off. Friendly and helpful, but definitely not intrusive. Breakfast and dinner came included for us — other than lack of variety, food options were hearty and homely. Location of property is 5-10mins away from Izu-Kogen Station, and within walking distance to supermarkets and some eateries.
Cons: Public baths and shared bathrooms, but this is personal - baths are split into males and females separately. However, they swopped the baths one night without me noticing, and I walked in to the mens’ bath by mistake.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: An excellent option for those wishing for a first class Japanese experience. I concur absolutely with the other positive comments provided by other travellers
Cons: Nothing - all good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: eveeything is so great!
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good ryokan, great value for great price while being authentic. They are very used to foreigners so everything has English translations attached. There is one large and one small public bath: They switch the gender assigned kinda randomly which means that depending on the time you may end up in either the big or the small one. Both are good. Less than 10 mins walk from the train station. Very nice small restaurants in immediate proximity (they close early).
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff was kind-enough to pick us up,vdrive us back to the train station as well as to a sight about town. Excellent dinner & value, nice-clean communal bath
Cons: The room was a bit tight, the price at 12-13K yen is a bit high

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Having done non-stop sightseeing in Japan for two weeks we were looking for a place to relax, with good hospitality and good food in a nice area. This hotel more than fulfilled those needs not least because of the wonderful hosts Yoshi and Junko. Yoshi was very helpful with good advice about what to do in the area and was our taxi to and from the local station. We enjoyed some lovely coastal walks along and other days out on the Izu peninsula. Junko's food was delicious - a really interesting fusion of Japanese, Chinese, and African (they had lived in Tanzania) styles with a little European thrown in as well. The onsen could be used publicly and privately, was very well maintained with indoor and outdoor tubs. We would highly recommend this hotel as a place to stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Extremely friendly host arranged every details, including live music, private onsen, a cute retriever and even little treat to attract birds to breakfast in the morning. Excellent chef able to make different cuisine. Highly recommended!!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything at Hanafubuki was wonderful. We stayed two nights, with breakfast and dinner included. The food was among the best we had in our two weeks in Japan. There are multiple private onsen throughout the property, each with its own charm; we never had any issue with finding an available onsen. It is so calming and peaceful with the forest, onsen, and lovely rooms. It is also a short walk to the Jogasaki coast, which is beautiful. I truly cannot recommend this place highly enough!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Dinner is really good Hot springs are clean and out of expectation Hotel staff is informative and helpful
Cons: Nothing at all
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very good private use onzen system. Food is fantastic with lots of variety. Close enough to the sea for medium length walks. Our room was a good size; bright and airy and surrounded by nature. We would certainly like to return.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff was so accommodating and the breakfast was delicious. Definitely would come to this place again next time.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Decent service with nice deco rooms. Food is amazingly good and creative, both dinner and breakfast.
Cons: Typical tourist hotel means quite some guests might not know the tradition rules, which might cause a huge mess.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel with 7 onsens on the property. It was so fun to try them all. It was a great blend of shared space, but private. Once you’re in the onsen space, you can lock the door and it’s yours until you’ve soaked enough.
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful grounds. The private hot springs were fun to visit. The meals were delicious.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property in a tranquil area. The staff was amazing and breakfast was delicious! My only regret is not including dinner, since there wasn't much else around (but Italian Cafe Bosco was also great). We tried four of the seven different baths during our one night stay, and definitely recommend taking the hike they map out.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: this hotel is surrouned by trees with seven private hot spring. 10-15 minutes walking from the station. the staff is polite but its better if the hotel can handle the luggage from room to check out. its not easy to carry the big luggage to the check out on the steep roads in the hotel
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent experience at the hotel. Staff very friendly, speak very good English and help understand the accommodation. The room I was in was a larger one with a view of the hills and the sea, and the rotenburo on the balcony, clean, very convenient, feels well maintained. Meals were served in the room, very tasty, and a good choice of main course for the dinner, including abalone, wagyu and deer. Hot spring excellent, and rotation between male and female hours allows to experience all of facilities either in the morning or evening. Great views from the rotenburo. You can take a shuttle bus from the station, or it's a 10-15 minute walk from Minami Ito station, which is also convenient enough and gives good views of the area. Will gladly come back and stay again.
Cons: Everything excellent. If I am picky, would be great to have milk available near the hot spring area though.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: traditional Japanese dinner & breakfast provided are delicious! the environment of the hotel is good, the staff are nice, the hot spring facilities are decent
10.0 Excellent

9.2 Excellent
Pros: We liked the open-air bath in our room. The staff were so attentive and hospitable. The dinners, both Japanese and French, were simply amazing and exceeded our expectations.
Cons: The wifi in our room did not work well at all. They lent us a mobile phone which we could use as a personal hotspot and it worked reasonably well (but not fully).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Impeccable service. Beautiful surroundings. Dining was superb. Little extras made it special.
Cons: Nothing. Loved it all!
6.3 Good
Pros: We enjoyed good breakfasts and excellent dinners. As we stayed for three nights, we had the chance to try every type of cuisine on offer. The kaiseki was very good, the French cuisine was excellent and the teppanyaki delightful. Portions are just right. The private onzen bath we had was really agreeable and the water temperature is adjustable. We especially like the small sword museum as well as the video with clear explanations of how samurai swords are made. Scent bag making was also fun and a pleasant activity on a rainy day.
Cons: The place really needs a face lift. They put in a new wing but the old wing is the one that requires extensive renovations to remain competitive and attractive. The lobby area is very tired, the carpet was old and worn. They also need to clean the toilet bowl thoroughly as accumulated dirt is visible and rather offensive. Non-Japanese staff not up to standards and totally lacks Japanese manners. Found out that the owners are Taiwanese - well, I hope they remember that this is supposedly a Japanese ryokan and a certain style of etiquette is expected.
Hotel Kazeno Kaori - Itō

8.9 Excellent (295 reviews)

When you stay at Kazeno Kaori in Ito, you'll be on the waterfront, within a 10-minute drive of Izu Glass and Glasswork Museum and Izu Granpal Park. Featured amenities include luggage storage and coffee/tea in a common area. Limited parking is available onsite.
6.7 Good
Pros: The chef is world class and the rooms, though old, were very clean. Staff were courtesy and professional, and also apologized many times for the broken elevator and gave us parting gifts. The new Onsen was modern and full ocean view.
Cons: Plants were dying in the lobby, sitting on the chairs left stains on our pants and bags. Just not the standard you’d expect from a high end ryokan. Rooms were exceptional but hotel common areas not so much. Elevator broke down our last night and there is only one elevator.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are incredible — right on the water with a hot spring bath on the balcony (two larger private onsens are on the top floor), an in-room massage chair, and plenty of wonderful special touches. The food was excellent too but the best part? The staff. They really go above and beyond to ensure you have the perfect stay.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: This exceeded my expectation a lot. Everything was so great, especially the service, the food, the privacy in the room, and all the facilities we have. The room was traditional Japanese style, very clean, spacious and has a private onsen. I had a great time with my family and I think it's great for couples as well. I hope I could stayed there longer and I will definitely come back once I have the chance.
Cons: None.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The elegant lady offer very nice service. The meal is so fantastic. and richful dishes. Offering meal in the room with private service is really perfect experience. And the private hot spring pool is so comfortable and clean. The room is nice. Thanks for wonderful service.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff are amazing and very accommodating. The rooms were bliss and the food is out of this world. If you have to do one thing than it is to stay in the ryokan.
Cons: Not applicable

Cons: None

7.1 Good
Pros: The room with private onsen was great. Beautiful garden and a spacious tub. The staff was lovely and worked hard to effectively communicate with us as English speakers.
Cons: The hotel outside of the room did not have the historic ryoken vibe. We did not use the shared onsen and the pool was not open.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The room was big and cosy. The staff is very friendly. Very good fish. Good location near Jogasaki coast.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Upon our arrival we were greeted by very friendly ISANA Resort staff, a very good initial impression. After check-in we were given a brief but very nice tour of the facility with a simple explanation of the onsen and meal schedule. In addition to the public onsen we had a private onsen in our room with a beautiful view of the ocean. All areas of the facility were spotless. We stayed two nights, half-board included, with freshly prepared French-Japanese cuisine which was beautifully presented and the taste equally exquisite. In addition to the spotless facility and wonderful dining, we did this with our two small children. The ISANA Resort was incredible with our children. They certainly did more than expected to keep our children entertained, which made the overall experience fabulous. We are looking forward to our next visit already!
Cons: There was nothing not to like.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing food, both breakfasts and dinners!! Very talented chef! Great Family owned hotel with great service!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I love their hospitality. They have trouble with the pipe so they can’t fill my guests’ bath with hotspring water, so I was their only guest since every other guests have cancelled. They give me a free upgrade to their best room. The dinner is really worth to try.
Cons: Wifi is a little too weak, I got disconnected a lot while video calling with my family.
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Loved the closeness to the ocean and the semi-outdoor onsen bath! There were no pictures of the bath so I had very low expectations but it was actually really nice. The breakfast was very filling too!
Cons: When the room above us used the bath the water splashed onto our balcony due to the broken piping (rusted pipes, the damage was clearly visible and pipes just didn't connect). The furniture in the room was pretty old and the room looked worse than I expected based on the pictures.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our host was wonderful, so helpful and thoughtful, she used google translate on her ipad to communicate with us. She gave us lifts to restaurants in the evening, so kind. The hotel is beautiful and unique with amazing views of the mountains and the sea. Wish we had stayed longer! Thank you Makiko!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The entire place was just amazing. It has a super cool castle turret, a lovely cafe, a wonderful onsen surrounded by plants, crafted stone outdoor living walls/floors/buildings, BEAUTIFUL plants and flowers EVERYWHERE (it felt like a beautiful greenhouse garden all the time), and a view of the ocean that's only a ~10 minute walk away. We originally only booked one night, and within 10 minutes of arriving, we immediately asked to book a second night JUST so that we could stay at this amazing place even longer to better enjoy it. Also, the staff were very inviting and friendly! We were given rides to dinner and the train station, given a tour of the full location, and had laughs with our translators when communicating. This will always be a magical place for us!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the view was amazing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: This place was very quirky. The owner manager told us his father had built the hotel himself it needed a bit of tidying up but you could see the potential as it was right on the coast cut into the side of a hill with great sea views. We were given what was in fact a small cabin. There was an entrance as you walked in with a sep wc to your right a good size sep lounge a sep bedroom & a sep bathroom. Was very comfortable & cool with everything you would find at home. There was a spa pool up in a turret where u could really take in the views. Great restaurant at top of the hill.. but we had a car... Very nice guy & we were introduced to the father the next day great guy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was beautiful and so unique it could not be experienced anywhere else. The owner was extremely accommodating in all of our needs, even giving us a ride to Mt. Omaru and to dinner every evening. With the host making us feel at home down to the wonderful homemade breakfast to being surrounded by mountains and coast line offering a variety of things to do, it made for a much needed relaxing 3 days during our two week trip in Japan.
Cons: The beds were hard compared to American style, but seem just slightly harder than other places we have stayed in Asia.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: There is a tennis court on site which is old but nice to play casually and enjoy the resort. Supermarket, restaurants, bakery are available nearby where we could reach easily by a car and opened from morning till late.
Cons: wanted to have a couch in the living room.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Every aspect of our stay at J-Garden was outstanding. The owners are very professional, but also very friendly. From waking up on a rainy day and find umbrellas at the door, to standing in the rain to show us where breakfast was served on the first day. All fittings in our villa were of the finest quality, from the big comfy bed, gorgeous big pillows, super flush toilet with bidet, and warm surroundings that made it feel like we were at home. The private onsen is amazing, like being in a tropical jungle! And to top it off, the bath in the villa is onsen water, so you can enjoy a bath anytime you like. We didnt have a car, but no problem, the owners picked us up and dropped us off at the station, and even drove us to the supermarket on the second day to get some things. Free bbq service is available, but it rained for most of our stay. Love J-Garden!
Cons: If you are into diving, this is the place for you! if not, there is a nice hiking track along the coast, but apart from that not much to see. However, just relaxing there was great!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The lodges were nice, and the management were very helpful. They picked us up from the station, drove us back, and even made us some hot chocolate when we looked as if we were suffering a bit from the unseasonably cold weather. The bathrooms have a special tap that allows you to run volcanic spa water directly into your bath. The Jogaski coast is beautiful and we were sorry that we only had 2 days to explore it. Would definitely come back and would definitely stay in J-Garden again.
Cons: Would advise a little caution if staying with small children, because the lodges are on a hillside and there are some unfenced drops, also the spa water is very hot.

Pros: Quite and comfortable room for three (kid,14), with a great view. Excellent recommandation for the restaurant where we have had very good pastas with seafood.

Pros: A lovely place! The place is really nice, clean and comfortable. But above all, Mr Tack, the owner, was so kind to us! The place is a little far away from the station, but he kindly provides shuttle to JOYinn from the train station. He was so helpful to us! We could not thank him enough for his kindness, making our stay at Ito a delightful experience. Merci beaucoup!

Pros: The owner and his wife is super friendly and helpful, the best we have met from any bed & breakfast so far, in fact not just the owner but his lovely dogs are also very friendly too. The view from our Ocean View room is amazing. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Ito.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious, bed was comfortable, has a partial view of the sea. It is about 3km away from the train station but the owner provides pick up and drop off free service to the station, so really the distance is not an issue. A very pleasant stay. Thank you!!
Cons: Nothing at all!!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I go to Izu area several time in the year so I stayed many places, then I strongly recommend this place if you were going to plan to go for an affordable trip to Izu Kougen. The room is very neat and what my best is the bed. It was good tense, not so hard not so soft, I was able to sleep better than usual :-) And of course as everybody says, the owner is very nice and gentle. That is the best reason to recommend you to choose this cottage. I bet you will have a great holiday while you stay Joyinn. Thank you very much for your kind hospitality!
Cons: I should have borrowed the ice packs in the night before. But this is not the comment just my mess.

Pros: Great views and the owner was happy to give lifts to and from the station /Town each day.
Cons: The accommodation is at the top of a very steep hill.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Mr Tack was simply amazing! The place is so lovely and cozy. We were fortunate to be upgraded to a sea view room, and it was very nice. The room itself is very large, bed and pillows were clean and comfortable, electric kettle and mini fridge is available and ac/heater works great. There is even a microwave and vending machine on the premise. Although the place is a bit far from the station and convenience store, Mr Tack provides a complimentary shuttle to/and from JoyInn - train station. He does not mind to stop at the supermarket and let us grab food and drinks :) We could not thank Mr Tack enough for being such a lovely host and making the overall experience at Ito very wonderful.

7.9 Good
Pros: The room was very big. Good onsen.
Cons: Location you need to go by car.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: It is a home away from home, comfortable, spacious and the sea view from the apartment is magnificent . Onsen facilities are also good.
Cons: If you do not drive, location of the hotel might be the only negative point. However the hotel provides shuttle service from the nearest train station like 4 times a day.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The property is close to 大室山 which we visited the next day of our stay. Our room oversaw the ocean from the hill, where this property is situated. Parking is available next to each one of the wings/buildings so it's easy to move around with luggages. Rooms are spacious and clean. Ideal for stay in consecutive days if visiting by cars.
Cons: There're 3 wings and our studio is located on Wing 1, which is the furthest from the onsen and the laundry room. As soon as we leave our studio, the whole passage is covered but not enclosed. So it's quite windy and chilling walking thru our way to those facilities.
7.5 Good
Pros: Great Onsen. Big rooms with kitchen but a bit old. Shame the pool was under renovation.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Big apartment with lovely views. Nice pool although rather dated. Staff were helpful and friendly. Restaurant was fantastic but very expensive.
Cons: Our room was extremely outdated and in need of repair. Most of the resort looks very tired. It’s not 5 star, more 3 star. Lobby, restaurant and onsen are in the best condition. Very musty smell from people smoking in the room even though there are signs to only smoke on the balcony. We had to pay extra to use the self service equipment for the kitchen such as crockery and cutlery which seemed odd considering it’s a self-service apartment.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Veiw, onsen, apartment, location, dinner, parking
Cons: Breakfast is good, but could be better :)
7.9 Good
Pros: Room is very big. There is outdoor onsen which is very good.
Cons: location is good for car owner, if the traveller don't have car, it may not be convenient.

Pros: The host of this hotel is kind, polite welcoming and speaks English very well. The hotel is located in a busy tourist location but it is pleasantly secluded. The private onsen baths are very welcome and allowed a wonderful relax at the end of a very hot day on the beach. Our host advised us to visit the local illumination attraction and even issued the tickets for us - we are so glad he did: it was an incredible experience. How lovely to enter a hotel and be greeted with cake an fruit drink.
Cons: We did not have any negative experiences.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The baths were very nice and the restaurant was great.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Good lobby with reasonable good facilities
Cons: We agreed to “go green” and reduce the room cleaning service. Fresh towels were provided but super dirty. Hotel staff didn’t even bother to check before left it on the door handle. On the arrival day, we were recommended by the front staff to go to the light show but were told the wrong time, we had to leave the hotel with taxi that’s very expensive to have dinner. On the other day we had to find out way back to hotel not so late in the evening due to no pick up service is provided after 6pm or something. There are many hotels in Izu-Kogen providing free pick up services but not this one. Beware of the potential costs for travelling between the hotel and the station if cost is one of the things you need to consider in your trip.
