Montage Kapalua Bay - Lahaina - Bedroom
9.4 Excellent (528 reviews)
Overview Reviews
The Montage at Kapalua Bay is a world class resort located on gorgeous Maui, Hawaii. Based in one of the most beloved and well sought after destinations in the world, Maui is indescribable when it comes to its beauty and the hotel clearly reflects its amazing image. The hotel features 50 residential-style rooms and a handful other suites. The rooms are spread out over a 24-acre lot with some of the most breathtaking views one could ask for of the Pacific. Some rooms present a view of the garden while others of the ocean. The modern, luxurious nature of the hotel separates it from other lodging in the area. The Montage features three different restaurants and one lounge for dining. The Cane & Canoe is its most luxurious dining option, while The Hideaway cooks up an exceptional breakfast. The bar features a really cozy and scenic patio to catch a drink under the sun or later in the evening. Several of the units also house their own kitchen for meals and a market with local foods is available on the property. In such an expansive setting with over 20 acres, it is little surprise many corporate events and weddings are hosted here each year. The meeting space complex is gigantic with several different indoor conference halls (of various square footage and prices) as well as outdoor lawns for separate meetings. Whether you select a one bed room or multiple-family unit, you will be stunned at how large the living quarters are with extraordinarily comfortable beds and expensive furniture. Several of the floor plans are like a mini-house with a master bathroom and bedroom, side guest room and bathroom, gourmet kitchen, even laundry units. The Montage at Kapalua Bay, like many 5 star resorts in Hawaii, specializes in its spa and subsequent services. In addition to massages and other advanced beauty salons, guests can also treat them to something new at the boutique.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: This place is beautiful... almost heaven-like. The pools are separated into mini pools so you can hang out by yourself or with your own group that gives you the feeling of you own the entire pool. The garden is just beautiful. Staff are friendly and attentive.
Cons: Housekeeping is not very thorough sometimes, but still gets an A-. Not too thrilled about having to pay $30/night for valet parking. And feeling obligated to tip them every time we need to get our car or have it parked. The resort fee of $40/night should include valet parking.

5.3 Okay
Pros: Reasonable location, a small pleasant walk to the main shopping area. Value for money given the cost of many places in Maui
Cons: The beach at the front of the property is poor, and as we didnt have a car the nearest decent beach was a 30 min walk away. The pool at the resort is small. The room was clean but kitchen fittings were dated.

6.7 Good
Pros: Big rooms with amazing view! Good price!
Cons: Some of the staff seemed a bit lazy and not what you expected others were really good.
7.3 Good
Pros: Very nice staff, very close proximity to the beach, very clean, beautiful decor
Cons: No free internet (also no wireless internet) available; Internet use added $10 per day to the cost and in this day and age Hotels should have wireless for free. I travel a lot, work online and had to do work, though technically on holidays...almost every hotel I stay has free wireless, Lahaina shores does not! It maybe the only reason not to come back as I loved everything else.

2.0 Mediocre
Cons: I booked the hotel room, paid for it, and when I showed up they told me I wasn't in the system and I couldn't stay there. What?!! Terrible front desk person who wouldn't let me stay at the hotel even though I showed her my receipt of payment for the room. Never again. I would not recommend this place unless you're sure they will give you your room.

Pros: We stayed to the Mahana to celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary, without kids. The staff was very helpful throughout the week. Upon check-in, they gifted us chocolates and a bottle of wine for our anniversary. A very sweet touch! Our condo was beautiful with a full size kitchen. Coffee and toiletry amenities included. Daily maid service was awesome. Loved having a washer and dryer in the condo. Beautiful views out of the floor to ceiling windows in the living room, bedroom, and lanai. Pool area was very nice (not too crowded) and everything is within walking distance! Saw sea turtles from our lanai. There are no other properties so close to the ocean.
Cons: Nothing- We will bring the whole family next time.

Pros: The rooms had a great layout. The beach location was fantastic. The majority of the staff were very friendly.
Cons: Surprise ~$30 daily charge on bill upon checkout (for wireless, parking, and misc room supplies). We were told we would get an upper level mountain view and ended up with a 2nd floor view of the construction site next door. Lack of pool seats because one pool was being renovated. Late guaranteed check-in time.

2.0 Mediocre
Cons: First of all, I waited for a long time before somebody answered the phone, 15 minutes, to be exact! I called the hotel a couple of days prior to my arrival to check if they have shuttle service to/from the hotel and I was advised that they do not have shuttle service at all. I can’t believe a 5-Stat hotel don’t have shuttle service for their guests & that they don’t have a live person answering the phone right away. Furthermore, the person I spoke with was not friendly nor helpful at all! And because I was already not getting any good service over the phone, I decided to cancel my reservation!!!

Cons: Room was too dark and popcorn ceilings
9.7 Excellent
Pros: The room is fantastic and the bed was super comfortable! And amenities! Oh the amenities....
Cons: The pool could have been more appealing especially since you HAVE to pay the resort fee.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The pool side restaurant was fair priced for food and drinks. Both of which were prepared very well. Breakfast at the main restaurant at the front of the hotel was also very nice. The one bedroom suite was spacious and nicely appointed. It was very clean as were the hallways and common areas. Front desk employees very pleasant. I am sure we will return.
Cons: We are not big pool people; but, the pool area and the chair seating area is not large. The hotel is on the opposite side of the ocean which might disappoint some, we knew where it was located and we were fine with that.
5.4 Okay
Cons: some irritant in the room caused cough- air conditioner, carpets. Needs updating
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was wonderful, very beautiful facility. The staff was wonderfully friendly. Very nice facility and grounds.
4.5 Okay
Pros: Great location. Nicely appointed room. Great lobby. Food was very good.
Cons: Stayed Feb. 2016 4 nights. We were on ground level and discovered a cockroach in our bed after our first night. Management was quick to respond as we requested the room be sprayed. Next day we came back to the room to discover a small lizard hanging on the inside drapes (we had never opened the balcony doors). We requested a change of room thinking we wanted off of ground level and they moved us up to the sixth floor. Cockroaches were even a worse problem. Again discovered a cockroach in our bed and when you turned the light on in the bathroom they ran off the counter. Front desk clerk suggested that this was possible in a tropical climate. This was our third stay on the islands and the first time we ever encountered cockroaches. Management needs to be more proactive with a pest control program. Made for an uncomfortable stay and would not return. Not good value for the money!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable rooms, nice balconies, excellent staff, quaint pool area, great poolside dining/beverage options and service, bike rentals, excellent location in Kihei

Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very well-run hotel that has given a lot of thought to amenities.
Cons: Bathrooms were a bit small.
7.7 Good
Pros: I stayed at this hotel for the first time 2 years ago and had a good experience. I had a 1-bedroom suite and it is perfect for an extended stay. The rooms are very roomy and comfortable here.
Cons: Some of the front desk staff were not very friendly or attentive. I found the porters and the housekeepers to be the most friendly and would greet me with a smile and say hello. The front desk staff looked bored and every time that I walked up to the front desk, they were looking at their monitors and it took them some time to finally look up to greet me (without a smile). Not sure why they have to be looking at their monitors when no guest is at the front desk. They should be trained to be aware of who is walking up to the front desk and raise their head and make eye contact with the guest that is approaching the desk. This happened each time I approached the desk and there was no guest at the front desk and the staff were not on the phone. Not sure what was so interesting on their monitor. Leads me to believe that they are surfing the internet or something......
9.1 Excellent
Pros: Loved that it was just a short walk to the beach. And the staff were super friendly which was great.
Cons: There's an additional $20/day resort fee.
