Don’t book through Kayak
Friendly staff, gave us a late checkout.
No elevator, so be prepared to lug your suitcases up stairs. No coffee maker in room, had to walk down 3 flights of stairs to get coffee. No microwave in room. No view (not kidding, wall from other building was 3 feet from window) unless you have a water facing room...which are really loud. Place desperately needs updating. Our room had new carpet, I know this because the carpet tacks were exposed leading into the tiny and hopelessly outdated bathroom and my bare feet found them at 2am. Heat in room didn’t work. Super cheap sheets and pillows. Forget the wi-if, gave up trying. So, why shouldn’t you book through Kayak? Because Kayak makes about 35% (rough estimate) on each nights stay. For what? A pretty website? Their customer service was no help when I asked about moving to another hotel. Lesson learned.

Great service and location. Felt comfortable and was connected to a great bar and grill. We read a few negative reviews and questioned our decision but we were so pleased with The Gilmore. The hotel is historic and this is what gives it charm. It's exactly what visitors who are going to a rustic getaway like Ketchikan should expect. They also offered free taxi rides to the airport shuttle and nearby attractions. Can't beat the price, either!
