Your guide to booking Ketchikan flights

From booking to airport arrival, find tips to help you plan your flight with more confidence.
  • For flights to Ketchikan, recent KAYAK data shows that stronger deals tend to land around $552 round-trip. If you see a fare below that threshold, it's a strong deal – book before the price climbs back up.
  • If you can choose when to go, time your trip to Ketchikan around May. Round-trip fares historically average $591 that month – typically the cheapest month to travel based on the last 12 months.
  • Before you book:

    • Check the route's typical price range so you can spot a deal.
    • Confirm baggage fees and seat-selection costs on budget carriers.
    • Verify whether you need any travel documents beyond ID.
    • Pick a departure airport, since your nearest may not be the cheapest origin.
  • Shift your departure to noon to save up to $110 per round-trip. Noon flights to Ketchikan average $629 compared to $739 for morning flights. See the time-of-day chart above for the full breakdown.
  • Bag allowances vary by airline, fare type, cabin class and route. On flights to Ketchikan, some airlines may include bags at no extra cost. For example, Alaska Airlines includes a cabin bag and a checked bag in Economy Class, American Airlines includes a cabin bag in Economy Class and Hawaiian Airlines includes a cabin bag in Economy Class. Always check the fare details before booking, since bag policies can change by ticket type.
  • Since Ketchikan has no direct road network access to the outside world, flights are the easiest way to reach this Alaskan city. The best way is to fly into the nearby airport on Gravina Island, Ketchikan International Airport (KTN).
  • You have the freedom to select between direct and changeover flights to Ketchikan International Airport (KTN). If time's an issue, a direct flight will suffice. However, it wouldn't hurt to journey a longer route if you're a leisure traveler and get to save some bucks while on your adventure.
  • Once you arrive at Ketchikan International Airport, it's wise to place all your gels, liquids, and creams in a separate container before passing through security. That will enable you to complete the security check in no time and spend the least time possible on the airport grounds. Note that you can only pass with liquids in a container no larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters), and the container should be a clear zip-lock bag.
  • Seniors and disabled travelers can take advantage of the free transportation (you'll only pay your ferry fee) between Ketchikan International Airport (KTN) and the Light House Grocery area or Fawn Mountain Road vicinity. However, ensure that you reserve a spot a day in advance to give the service provider enough time for scheduling rides.
  • When traveling on a budget, we recommend that you mix and match your fare types and airlines. That way, you'll get to select the best deals and minimize travel costs.

Our gate agent was absolutely amazing. Personable, kind, and helpful. She alone makes me want to return to use Alaska Airlines.

Our gate agent was absolutely amazing. Personable, kind, and helpful. She alone makes me want to return to use Alaska Airlines.

Don’t fly with Alaska if you have a layover in Seattle. Guaranteed to screw you over. We waited at terminal S3 &were >2 hours delayed(mechanical issues)and told to change terminals to a different plane that required riding 3 shuttles to get to new terminal N14. Then they delayed the flight even further and changed gates again. when I went to the customer service in terminal N, the manager turned me away without apologizing & refused to assist me but mandated I leave her alone as her shift is nearly finished and insisted I totake another 2 shuttles to terminal C so I can just talk to another service rep while dragging my family of 4/ kids in tow.

Everything was good. Please have a wheat free option for snacks in the future.

Not delay for a few passengers. That was uncalled for. If idiots can't make the flight on time thats their fault. Why should I be punished for them? No more holding the plane for one or two people

How can I review what was denied to me. Instead of offering to let me pay for the ticket I got booted of my flight with no way home and no choice but to purchase another ticket for 12 hours later. Filing a complaint with the DOT

I like them since I live in Alaska and I don't have much choice

Coke zero offered...good. The proptness of flight was late. This has been a everytime thing for my last 9 flights. And is putting alot of pressure on my connecting flights. Not a bit punctual. I am always early, but Ak. Airlines is not. And people i happen fly beside, parrot the same thing. The baggage delivery to baggage claim, is not prompt. Its slowwwww. The seats are poorly padded, very crowd. We need more room, not padding the airlines bottom line. Its like a cattle car. More leg room, more side to side room. And attendants need upgrade of verbal skills. I have been faithful to Ak. A., but it will change if changes are not made. Not the only planes in the sky.

We were very late to take off, late exit plane, and luggage took a long time.

It was very good. I love flying with Alaska air.

Beware when booking this flight! It’s not immediately obvious that there are 2 stops before landing in Ketchikan… the same flight continues to Seattle after (all with the same flight number!) When searching to book, it shows a direct flight even though it has multiple stops. The flight later on the day (which I booked originally when falling into this trap) stops 3 times before Ketchikan!!! Had to pay an extra $50 per ticket to do a same day switch to the morning flight with less stops. Very upsetting

Nothing was good about this flight. Although the flight actually departed more than 3 hours late, due to “air traffic control management” we pushed back from gate 2 hours and 20 minutes late and proceeded to sit 100 yards from gate for and then n tarmac for another 1/2 hour additional 20 minutes

Our flight was delayed to Louisville. What made this worse was they did not have another flight attendant to service the flight. This caused an even longer delay. Then when a flight attendant did show up, she chose to "swap" flights with another flight attendant. Therefore, we had to wait longer for the other flight attendant to come to our flight. This is information that the gate attendant should not have shared. Processes and execution at American are broken. Passengers are feeling it. Fixing this starts at the top of the organization.

Both the gate agent and flight crew did a horrible job of expediting the boarding process. It was simply miss managed. The airplane was late to Tampa. Therefore, they should have expedited the de-boarding process and also boarding process. This did not happen and caused me to miss my connection. I ended up with a 7 hour hour layover just to get home. The overall flying experience on American has simply been degraded. On-time performance is a real problem every single week. This has caused me to consider moving my loyalty to an airline that has better performance metrics.

One thing you can always count on is your AA flight getting delayed. This is not surprising when they operate these planes like a greyhound bus with wings.

Mostly excellent. However, many too many gate changes. Connecting flight at ORD changed gate 6 times.

It was my first time flying with Alaska Airlines and it was a pleasure!

DFW notification of changing the gate notice was an inconvenience.

Our gate was changed several times, and the gate agents were just as in the dark as all of us in knowing when our plane would arrive at PHL.

Very long delay at PHL. The old section of terminal F is a disgrace. Take-off was 3.5 hrs late. It was not just the bad weather, but also too many jets occupying too few slots, a very PHL-based problem.,

Aa cancelled my flight where I was in first class seat 4B. They auto rebooked me on another flight, did not give me a seat assignment until at the gate. Where I got seat 29f, for a 4 hr flight. No accommodation at all for my first class ticket. Left 3 hrs late as well.
