Pros: The staff were amazing. My son got sick and they went out to get us medicine and delivered it to our door. There are artworks at the stair landings which make it very pretty. The view from the rooftop terrace used for breakfast is of the Himalayas in the distance and the top of buildings in Durbar Square.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Awesome guesthouse! We loved staying here so much we extended our stay. Rooms are very comfortable, the guesthouse is tastefully decorated and is in a great location for exploring Bhaktapur. Breakfast on the rooftop was delicious (even catering for our needs as vegans) with a great view. The main owner and member of staff (i'm sorry I don't know your names) are incredibly welcoming, kind and offer a wonderful service. The main staff member not only sorted onward bus tickets for us, but was even thoughtful enough to consider which were the best bus seats and on the morning of departure, made sure he was up at 6am to see us off and call the bus company to let us know we were on our way and not to leave without us! Could not recommend this place enough, amazing value for money and the staff go out of their way to make you have the best possible experience, thank you!

8.8 Excellent
Pros: Really nice staff, after a cockroach problem they gave us a different room. Good value for money.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful and friendly staff, offered me a coffee when I arrived, could borrow a guide and books from the hotel, and they offered to prepare breakfast earlier for me on the day of my departure.
Cons: I had a flight early morning and I asked the staff to help me get a taxi and I precised a regular taxi, because the regular taxi would take 400-500 new to got to the airport compared to a car / airport taxi that takes 800 nrs so double the price... In the morning the staff told me the car is here, I asked them how much was it and they said 800 nrs. I said no, I don't want this I asked for a regular taxi, so they told me ok we will get one, no problem. They finally got me a car and when I arrived at the airport the driver asked for 800 nrs, so I understood that the staff had kept the exact same car they had had to come from the beginning. I really do no appreciate to be cheated like that, it's a pitty to end the trip on this note when everything had gone so well for my entire stay
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Our room is spacious. The 2nd floor public relaxing area is cozy.
Cons: The towels are old which is quite a common issue in Nepal. The bus tickets to Pokhara, US$15 per person, are way too overpriced.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff is very friendly and helpful
5.0 Okay
Pros: I liked the restaurant sitting areas which were comfortable enough to pass the time with family and friends. Staffs were helpful.
Cons: Didn’t like the room. The first room we were taken had bamboo roof and it smelt bad. The second room where we ended up staying had no ventilation, no sunlight passing through the window even if we had them open. We had to close the window and curtains all the time to block the noise and ugly view. Disappointed with food (thali set). Even after requesting multiple times and reassurance we got from staffs, the rice was still hard leaving us with a big question mark on the quality of rice they use.
7.9 Good
Pros: The location of the hotel and the staff. Also the terrace and bar/restaurant were you can find a spot of calm in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu. Is a very good hotel if you are not looking for any kind of luxury.
Cons: The wi-fi could be better. The bed sheet was a little bit dirty. There is no shower gel, shampoo or conditioner.
7.1 Good
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful, spacious rooms.
Cons: Water flow in the bathroom was very slow. Also bathroom wasn’t very clean. Electricity went for some time at night

Pros: The room was nicely organized and furnished. The place was clean and the staff were friendly and kind.

Pros: The hotel we incredibly friendly and helpful with anything Hong we needed including knowledge of the local area. The rooms are clean and tidy with good WiFi.
Cons: We very much enjoyed our stay
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Super quiet room despite the location in center Thamel. Staff were very cooperative and accommodated my needs in the best possible way. The terrace view is amazing.
Cons: Even for an economy room, I would have expected some tea/coffee bags to use with the available kettle. Without those, the kettle was useless. A hair drier would have been more useful. At check in time I could hear water running through the piping, but this fortunately went away.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Location was just a small block away from a busy street in Thamel, so close to the action but not loud. Taxis always available outside. Currency exchange, ATM, and lots of restaurants located nearby.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is central and in a beautiful surrounding. The owner and his family are really friendly and helpful for everything! Beds are comfortable and rooms are cleaned daily. Breakfast is abundant and different everyday. I can only recommend it ;)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is in one of the best locations in Patan, in front of a beautiful artificial lake. We had an amazing breakfast every day. We tasted different traditional dishes and had time to relax in the terrace. But the best part was the staff. We were in Nepal's for the wedding of a friend. The hotel's owner and his daughters were super helpful pointing us to places where we could buy the traditional dresses, setting them up for us, calling reliable taxies, and so on. On the last day, we were leaving for Pokhara but there was a general strike in the city. The staff stayed up late and woke up early in the morning to help us avoid the strike and get our plane! Overall, they helped us have a great experience in Nepal and we'll definitely stay in the same hotel when we come back.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Incredible location, view from the windows feels like the Nepali version of Hitchcock' Rear Window! + an excellent welcoming and knowledgable host family.

Cons: the surrounding neighborhood is little boring at night.
6.7 Good
Pros: Bathroom was very small. Didn’t have space to move around. Plus our room didn’t have tv which was very surprising.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location in the cultural center, with a renovated, clean pond and a stupa in front, still quiet, is probably one of the best in Patan. The breakfast on the roof terrace was perfect, in addition to a variaty of standard offers (muesly, eggs any style...) there were everyday different delicious Newari specialities to taste. The hosts are really welcoming and ready to help. One feels really like home.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Taja Phaa was a wonderful place to stay. Peaceful with great views and in walking distance of many places in the south of the city. The hosts were kind and helpful and even upgraded me to a front room. Also nice touches like filtered water so you don't need to use plastic and a kitchen to use. I would highly recommend it.
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location is really convenient to everywhere in Patan, and also away from loudness on the main street. The room has everything we need, especially terrace facing pond made our stay memorable one. We felt great hospitality and at home at the same time. Highly recommended!!

Cons: Quite expensive for Nepalese standards.
The Dwarika's Hotel - Kathmandu - Building
5
9.0 Excellent (739 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Set in the middle of the bustling chaos of Kathmandu city, Dwarikas Hotel stands as an oasis for travelers. A step through the intricately carved wooden doors of the hotel takes you to a world where the Nepali cultural heritage is front and center. With the complex of palatial buildings and the incorporation of thousands of carved wooden masterpieces into the hotel design, Dwarikas can easily be a cross between a museum and a boutique hotel with lush, pampering ambiance.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: the catering can be better. add some Chinese food.
Cons: everything is very good except the wheather.
7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel is gorgeous, so rich in heritage. Food and drinks were really good, staff friendly and professional. I don't usually like yoga but decided to try the class there and was impressed - very good teacher/master.
Cons: I stayed in a junior suite. Bathroom fixtures need updating. Lighting could be better and there was no full length mirror.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: highly unique, high-end hotel that incorporated an old city feel with all the re-purposed building materials, while being extremely private and offering high amenity services. It was also relatively close to the airport.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The ambiance is fantastic. The beauty of the decor is of refined taste.
Cons: The rooms have a nice decoration but not as gorgeous as the corridots and social places.
8.8 Excellent
Cons: The food can be better. There should be more vegetarian options.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Service was exceptional. The staff was very attentive and accomodating which was helpful when traveling with a child. Nice to have multiple restaurants on-site as well as a gym, yoga studio and shops. There is also a hotel dog, Maya, who was very friendly and sweet, and made us feel homesick (in a good way).
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very beautiful hotel
Cons: It was not worth the money as nothing in included and everything costs too much. For example breakfast (25$ each) and also the taxi for the airport (16$ instead of the max. 3 you can spend just calling a cab outside)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room service and dinner
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was beautifully presented. A little oasis in the heart of the city and the staff were excellent.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel with family who went above and beyond to make sure we had a comfortable stay. The room is Newari style, with a great bed, beautiful furnishings and was spotless. The architect and owners have spent a few years redesigning the layout and in the finishing touches so each room is unique. Add to this is the beautiful rooftop where we spent most of our mornings and evenings, and meeting the owners who were so friendly, well-travelled and welcoming. Super impressed and touched they made me and my friends an Nepali style breakfast puri and aloo when they could have just said no and charged us nothing for the hassle and trouble. This is what exceptional service means. Thanks you Mr. prem for everything
Cons: Nothings,It exceeded my expectations
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Good
7.9 Good
Pros: Staff was really nice, good location to explore Thamel but in calm street. Clean and beautiful home.
Cons: The room was really tiny and there are no comfortable common spaces where one could spend some time. The roof terrace was lacking tables under shade, it is a new hotel so I guess they will figure out step by step. Also, the room had a window that could not be closed on the side of the inner courtyard, so when people are staying by the reception you can hear everything and mosquitoes can enter.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The Building Design and the detail ornament in Newari Culture. Clean and calm. The owner and family very kindly. They have rooftop with beautiful flower and beautiful view. You feel like a home.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent

The bathroom is very clean, there is always hot water. On the roof there are many comfortable places for rest. The hotel exceeded all my expectations.
Cons: Nothing bad, I liked everything!

Pros: The property is beautiful, far better than I had expected and my expectations were already high after reading the reviews. It is beautifully decorated and a stone's throw away from the main sight, Boudha Stupa. Staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, they made you feel like a royal. Nothing was too much for them. The room (I got upgraded to the heritage room) was huge and had spacious bathroom with the best shower I have ever had in Nepal. I will definitely be back!
Cons: The pillows, they were too hard. I probably could have asked for different ones but used my travel pillow instead.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: All was very good ! Wonderful terrace and welcoming fruit in the room !
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are amazing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great break fast comfortable room free shuttle services to airport.
Cons: When I booked a spa treatment I asked for reflexology and hand massage instead the practioner did limbs and hardly touched my feet or hands. Was charged a fair amount 3000 nr for 40 minutes. Was not very happy about that. The massage was average and I found the girl to be quite rough. I think hotel spa staff should listen closely to what customer wants and staff should be skilled at providing said services. The hotel was in a great location... quiet at night; fantastic breakfast and chef accomadated my keto friendly diet. Free transportation to airport with bookings.com was nice ; however had to remind them as they asked for money for that service. Overall a nice hotel; disappointed with spa treatment.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Helpful and friendly staff, very clean room.
Cons: Not pleasant smell into the lobby
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff. Location near to main road but not noisy. Comfortable bed. Walking distance to Boudha Stupa.

10.0 Excellent
Cons: Cab driver was not good. Always insisted foecextra money
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Pool, service
Cons: The coffee
4.6 Okay
Pros: Staff was very nive and helpful but unfortunatelly they could not address and resolve the exisitng problems as well as those arising from the lack of adequate management .
Cons: The price per night was on a very high end ($200 per night) but the room I finally stayed in on the fifth floor (had to change the first room due to the drilling and hammering noise in the walls) had a very worn out feel, with a very ugly view of construction site and accompanied by the construction noise bellow my windows that lasted until after midnight and wouldnt stop until several interventions; almost non existing wi-fi so I couldnt work in the room at all; got stuck in elevators twice due to power outage as clery no generators in the hotel; dirty mugs in the room; a very late cleaning service for the room and for which I finally had to ask for etc. etc. In my opinion, hotel was not able to provide the quality of the stay for the price they charges - it advertises itself as a conference centre but it was not able to properly function when in a full capacity or to provide the quality of not just a room but even of some basic elements - the hotel toilets were most of the time not a pritty site and lacking main elements like toilet and hand paper. And finally, they were not able to accommodate my leaving early due to the family emergency and still charged me for the two nights that I couldnt use. Staff was very nice and polite and tried to compensate for the lack of overall good management of the hotel by appologising all the time and offering small discounts but unfortunately, they were not able to provide timely and satisfactory solutions and services for the overall stay.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Great staff - friendly, warm and extra helpful Breakfast and dinner buffets were good - huge variety
Cons: Air quality is a big problem. Perhaps the HVAC system needs attention; maybe the filters need changing... The odors and staleness of the air is hard to deal with. Seeps into everything. I had to deep clean everything to remove the odors after I got home. It may even have health consequences as the odors smell like mold. The cleaning and polishing solutions used in the hotel seem to be based on harsh and aggressive smelling chemicals. It was overpowering and does not create a pleasant and restful environment. Or maybe the products were quite ordinary and the smells would not have been a problem if the HVAC was efficient and moved and refreshed the indoor air rapidly. Couldn't tell which...
5.0 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was good
Cons: Carpet in room was dirty
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Expecting more types of food for those stayed for more days so can enjoy different food
Cons: No comment
7.9 Good
Cons: When I asked to book room at reception they did not give me correct information and offered me a room worth INR 22000 per night. So I went to booking.com and got my desired room.

Pros: Very helpful reception and greetings at all times, very appreciated. You could ask for an expresso+ americano without being charged extra at breakfast. Good choice at breakfast. Amazing location and quiet.
Cons: We had twin beds as double bed is too small for us. One of the bed near was noisy and too soft so not I told reception.we only stayed 2 nights but I am sure they would have done something if they knew as theyare very nice and caring. Room could do with tissues and dressing irvsomehere to put clothes. A fridge would be great too
7.1 Good
Pros: Front desk staff super efficient and very pleasant. Bed was very comfy. Airport pick up was a bonus
Cons: Room quite small. Bathroom tiles had some mould on them. TV didn't work. Breakfast offerings quite poor, only highly processed bread or potato for carbs. At 6:30am breakfast attendant told me it would take half an hour to warm up coffee machine. Why not turn it on earlier if breakfast starts t 6:30? She seemed rather unimpressed at having to do breakfast service early in the morning.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location, comfy room, excellent customer service, spotlessly clean, very good breakfast. Can’t fault this place.
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Almost every member of staff was professional, super friendly and very helpful. Arranged car and driver at below street rates, directions, restaurant suggestions and were lovely. Very clean, immaculate rooms. Large. Basic breakfast lovely, always a new dish or two every day plus usual fruit, yoghurt, eggs, dhal, sausages, cereal, coffee/tea, pastries and toast.
Cons: Cant really fault anything except the outdoor terrace downstairs was full off smokers, so never got to enjoy it as full of filthy cigarette smoke.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Firm but comfortable beds which was a god-send after all the rock hard beds elsewhere, quiet neighbourhood between 10pm & 7am, complimentary airport shuttle, complimentary welcome drink, whisper quiet air con in the room, super friendly staff from all levels of service (managers, desk staff, door men etc). Only 500m from the pedestrian street of Thamel, and the price was excellent!
Cons: Housekeeping were banging away at 6.30am making it impossible to sleep in, no maple syrup for pancakes, shower temperature was only warm despite having the tap on 100% hot with no cold.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Super friendly and helpful staff. Good location but still quite (which can be quite difficult in Tamel). Breakfast was very good.
Cons: After taking a shower, the whole bathroom was wet (however, you’ll find this in many places)

Pros: Clean and spacious
Cons: Fridge not working
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel. Highly recommended, love it. Come stay at this beautiful place.
Cons: Nothing. Missing my excellent stay at this hotel.

Pros: Hotel is just into the middle of Thamel neighbourhood. Full of small stores, bars, restaurants, etc. Trully a happening place. Room was comfortable but not so clean, we found bugs into our bed. Staff really friendly and kind.
Cons: Nothing.

Pros: Immaculate property owned by a lovely Nepali family. Very clean, and they have a blessed very friendly puppy if you ever feel like you need a companion on a quiet evening. Lots of small shops nearby. The rooftop patio has one of the best views of Kathmandu where you can witness both sunrise and sunset, which has got to be my favourite feature. The private parking was very useful for me as a traveling motorcyclist. This place is the perfect balance between affordability and quality for a budget conscious backpacker. I cannot recommend this place highly enough! I would love to stay again
Cons: For the price, can't complain at all. I actually think it's too cheap!

The room was clean, hot water and Wi-Fi working like a charm. Very nice breakfast - neoaluOur room (overlooking the inner hall) was very quiet by Kathmandu standards.

Pros: The room had a bathtub not very common in KTM, was spacious with extra place with 2 bamboo chais and a table. The location superb in the center of Thamel.
Cons: Lack of elevator -the room was in 5th floor.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great value for money. Easy and helpful communication with the hotel, they helped us with exchange of currency and some luggage arrangements. Hot showers working like a charm 24/7 and great wifi. The restaurant has nice food at affordable prices. Located towards the end of Thamel so much more quiet than the rest of places in the area.

Cons: One of the best hotel I have been Kathmandu
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff was so very helpful. I felt very welcome. Free airport shuttle was a real plus. All in all I would definitely stay there again.
Cons: As usual I have a problem with the extensive use of plastic. It is a nice touch to get a liter bottle of water every day but..... This could be very easy prevented if there would be water fountains at the reception where one could just refill ones own water bottle.
5.8 Okay
Pros: 1. Good location
Cons: 1. Room was not cleaned and quite humid inside. 2. Also airport free pickup & drop service was not managed properly that I have to paid almost Rs.1000 for taxi. 3. The room was nearby pub, very noisy till late night.

Cons: the breakfast has no more options
7.5 Good
Pros: The people were very nice and hospitable. The food was good at the restaurant. My room was comfortable.
Cons: There was some sort of a club across the street that kept playing a loud booming music most of the night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Eco Hotel staff were amazing - after having issues with my visa on arrival Raj and his staff brought money to the airport for me. They will generously help you organize anything you need from tours to transportation, questions etc. The rooms were comfy and quiet - just what we needed before starting our Everest 3 passes trek. The in house restaurant was also really good. Great location in the heart of Thamel. Close to the walking street with many restaurants, gear and knick knack shops within steps. Definitely recommend to anyone starting/finishing their time in Kathmandu. Thanks Eco Hotel!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean friendly great location superb!
Cons: Some building work was going on where we were on 4 th floor so a loud drilling and hammering noises went on from 6 in the morning till 11 in the EVENING! Couldn’t sleep and when we asked staff at reception they didn’t know anything about this? A bit strange I would say especially as the property is fenced and guarded!
5.0 Okay
Pros: I think generally the room and location was great. Food was good.
Cons: I think generally the room and location was great. But I had couple of bad experiences such as smoking side room was really bad, there was smoke coming inside my room, however they changed it after I complaint. Reception staff were bit rude when I complained about it. Additionally, they came to inspect the mini bar while we were in the room, that was really insulting because I had never experienced such thing in any 5 star hotel. I hope they actually train their staff to give respect to their guest.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The rooms and pool were great! The breakfast was nice. My favorite part was the happy hour at the club access. Food was outstanding!
Cons: About 50% of the staff was awesome, the other 50% were cold and unfriendly. For this type of luxury hotel, I would have thought there was be a nice warm feeling with the staff. The best people were the lobby bartenders, the front desk ladies were almost rude.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This hotel has a great swimming pool and comfortable rooms. The public areas were very pleasant. The lounge staff were helpful. Good shuttle service and I enjoyed the spa
Cons: The rooms are a bit dated and the PowerPoints did not work. They were not repaired despite two requests. There are only two restaurants to choose from.

Cons: Cuisine options too limited.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: This is a very beautiful hotel set within lovely grounds. Good location for some of the attractions of Kathmandu. Fairly close to the airport.
Cons: The price of food and drinks. So much so that we (& many other guests) did not eat or drink at the hotel. Location is close to airport so can be noisey. Airport 'courtesy' will cost a couple x7! what a local taxi will cost!

Pros: The beautiful garden and the helpful staff

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great accessibility to Thamel. Very nice staff. Great breakfast. Great patio on roof (5th floor).
Cons: No elevator, so make sure you're good with stairs
7.5 Good
Pros: Central location. Very close to tourist bus stop. Staff was quick enough to arrange bus ticket to pokhara, and local sightseeing.
Cons: Very small room. Wifi doesn’t work. Room had no view. Instead was blocked by the building outside. They arranged my bus ticket to pokhara, quoting the price of 800 INR. But after boarding the bus, i realized it was 700 NPR. This spoiled my overall experience. During checkout, it was raining very heavily thus i asked the reception if its possible for them to arrange a drop-off to bus station. I didn’t knew that i was supposed to be very specific that i wanted drop off by car. They arranged a person to drop me off who was walking with an umbrella and i, the guest, had to walk behind him matching his pace under heavy rain with no umbrella.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We stayed only one night. (It was supposed to be two nights but our connexion in Abu Dhabi was cancelled, delaying our arrival in Kathmandu..) We checked out early in the morning, before breakfast time, but they arranged the breakfast to go, and that was very kind.
Cons: Little noisy, it is in the middle of restaurants and shops in Thamel area, our room was faced to the streets, we could hear the traffic and people talking late in the night..
5.8 Okay
Pros: Lpcation and staffs ok
Cons: This hotel have serious maintainance problem. I have stayed in 206, 201, 207 TV was not working. Also no wifi. Washroom water draining problem. Also charged more from me. They charfed 4% extra for using credit card. But location was nice. Staffs were good.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Friendly helpful staff, pretty good breakfast- liked the location.
Cons: Maps of the area would have been helpful
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good hotel in heart of thamel. Staff very polite and accomadating.
Cons: We ware asked to pay the Bill at the time of checking.which is not a normal practice. From one side taxis was not allowed to come towards hotel so hotel staff has to come and escort us.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staffs are all friendly. They serve the free pickup service and the young guy wait for us for a long time in the airport with smile. And even they help us to buy sim cards. They always try to help us. Rooms are very cozy. Thank you for helping us.
Cons: There is no elevator here so you can exercise.:) But don't worry. If you have big bag, staffs will bring it to your room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was amazing, and the very young chef who make a omelet for us, he is so friendly
Cons: Internet was very slow and sometimes its not working
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, near the shopping bazars. Staff were welcoming and courteous. Breakfast was continental type- ham, bread, egg, juice. They were flexible to prepare a packed breakfast as were leaving early. They even prepared ham, even if it was not supposed to be inlcuded in the pack. The rooom was clean and tidy, with comfortable bed. They always provided a 1L bottled water everyday.
Cons: There was no elevator, but the staff helped us carry our luggage.
10.0 Excellent

Overview Reviews
Located in Kathmandu (Thamel), DOM Himalaya Hotel is within a 15-minute walk of Garden of Dreams and Kathmandu Durbar Square. Featured amenities include express check-in, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. Planning an event in Kathmandu? This hotel has 600 square feet (56 square meters) of space consisting of a conference center and a meeting room. A shuttle from the airport to the hotel is complimentary during limited hours.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were exceptional, Raj the manager gave us a special farewell blessing, Aashika on the front desk gave exceptional service and Navaraj the concierge was always there to help us in anyway he could.
Cons: Nothing, (free whisky would be atreat) LOL.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The buffet breakfast was more than adequate for us to start our days of long walks to the UNESCO sites. The chefs and wait staff there are friendly and helpful. The manager Raj was very helpful with our enquires on treks etc. He will be there to greet you and send you off. The concierge (my bad for not asking his name} is a regular sunshine everytime we meet in the lobby. He is always up for a chat. He was very helpful too when our TV set box had problems. Seems the staff multitasks well. We were upgraded to a family room and that was a pleasant surprise as the room is bigger and beds were comfy. The only negative part is I suspect poor sewage system in the toilet area as there was an unpleasant smell once a while. Other than that it was perfect. The cable TV channels are great especially for guests who like to stay in their room more often than us. The location is fantastic too as it is right smacked in Thamel which is the main shopping area in Kathmandu. Everything is within walking distance. The food joints are plentiful and prices really reasonable. We found a cafe, Seaquinn which serves local, and international food. The staff is friendly, the food is great and the prices really reasonable. It is located on the left side of the hotel about 50 metres down the road.
Cons: Other than the perceived sewage problem in the toilet area there is nothing not to like as far as we were concerned. If you have expectations of a 5 star hotel of western countries then DOM may not be your choice. DOM caters to savvy travellers who spend most days out trekking, sight seeing and shopping and yet able to come back to a comfortable environment.
6.7 Good
Pros: Great location,.
Cons: Our flight from Lhasa to Kathmandu was cancelled and we were not able to come and stay that day in DOM Himalaya Hotel. We arrived next day but had to pay for 2 night stay, anyway. I sent them an email and asked for refund, but, so far, they haven't found it necessary to give me an answer yet. So dissapointing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff is very cooperative. They cooked special meal for us .Best place for stay in heart of city. Thank you.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Clean and super friendly staff
Cons: Breakfast wasn’t that great
2.9 Mediocre
Pros: Poor, Food was not enough, we kept on telling them that they need to fill up the food
Cons: everything
9.2 Excellent
Pros: That was my second official visit in Kathmandu and I selected DOM Himalaya again. Everything there exceeded my expectations. The manager Raj was super cool and given his best shot to make me feel comfortable and relaxed. The staff and food was awazing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is good and also the restaurant serves decent food. Staff is very helpful and polite. On the day of arrival our flight got delayed by 2 hours but still the Hotel driver was present in the Airport to receive us. The front desk staff Ashika and Ashmita are very polite and helpful. Overall I would say that I had a memorable stay here with no issues.
Cons: Only issue was with hot water. We had ask the staff to fix the hot water almost everyday but this is not anything major I would say.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: For those looking for meditation this is probably the best location in Pharping. The Hotel is at quiet end of road, the room was confortable and facing to a valley (likewise other rooms I saw). It's also close to famous temples, caves and monasteries. Besides these pros, the staff was friendly and professional.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast, awesome views from the rooftop.... Very quiet....
6.3 Good
Pros: Comfortable beds and good views
Cons: Not as advertised, one room had shared bathroom which is fine if you are young but for elderly people it is no good. Also two young people left in charge wanted us to pay more than agreed.
7.9 Good
Pros: The family was really sympatic and welcoming. The house is really beautiful. Wood floor and a beautiful kitchen to have breakfast. The room downstair is really big with a big seating area and big windows. We was in the room of their teenage daughter! We loved the 2 big dogs (Danois) and the 3 cats! They could do laundry too. They are attentive to our needs and can suggest sights etc. All the temples and monasteries can be visited in a day just by walking from the house but we are happy to stay there for 2 nights so we had time to take it relax and also visit the Dakshinkali temple on tuesday morning (sacrificial day).
Cons: You have to know that is a Family Home Hotel and rooms are not locked. But the house is. And there is always someone there, with two big Danois Dogs ;) Our room downstair was a little bit cold, even when we open the heater. But with the blankets during night it was OK. And there's hot water in the shower. The house in not easy too find. Indications are a little bit difficult to see... And it's in a little group of houses only accessible by foot, a little bit apart of central town (approx 10 minutes). But, you can feel the real life of this village when you pass in front the family houses in this corner of Pharping.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely house in good position overlooking valley and the owners could not have been more kind and helpful
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Stephan is a very kind person, the house is very very confortable, hot water, warm and the bed! Very big!
Cons: The location at google maps is not ok. We spend at the night a lot time to get the place, that was the only problem. Stephan tried to call us to explain how to rich the place, but of course, we didn't have signal.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Where do I start? Wood fire to cosy up the room on a cold winter night, views over the misty valley in the early morning, delightful shared souffle dinner with interesting conversation. All this private self-contained bliss in the historic village setting of Pharping. Couldn't ask for more...
Cons: Ha Ha, the road to Pharping :-) (Though the Hotels Landcruiser made easy work of it back to the airport)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Top equipment. Bed (!), heater , meditation cushion, shower and very good breakfast!
Cons: Nothing. If I have to mention one: Even if everything was premium, the rate was it too compared to the Parphing price level.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Dinner: swiss cheese fondue :-)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: From the description in the internet I somehow didn't expect that much. So it was a nice surprise that we found a very nice place with a beautiful garden in a peacefull environement. The house is owned by a swiss guy who also offers hiking tours around the Himalaya. Rooms are furnished european style and so is the breakfast. First cheese for two weeks. So if you are tired of the stress of Kathmandu Valley go there.
Cons: -

9.2 Excellent
Pros: We got a very big room with 2 beds and a balcony. We loved our stay there and Sara and her husband made us feel really welcomed. There’s also a shared kitchen available (you 50rs per person per day to use it). The rooftop is lovely. The guesthouse is located in a really quiet area with many local restaurants and shops, far from the noise of the city. For the price paid it was definitely a great choice!
Cons: It’s a bit far from the touristic area of Kathmandu. There are frequent minivan connecting the guesthouse with Thamel area but only till 7pm! After that you need to catch a taxi and it’s quite expensive!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Everything was very nice. Sara and her family are helpful and friendly. I recommend it. The location was perfect for me as my massage school was close. There are also plenty of restaurants nearby.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly atmosphere with hosts who take care of their guests. Sara and Salina not only arrange transport, but they also cook traditional meals, prepare delicious breakfast and offer drinks for reasonable prices. I enjoyed my stay and will definitely come back before my plane departs from Kathmandu Airport.
Cons: The neighborhood can be a bit noisy at night and in the morning.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: I really like the quiet, homely location of the hotel. There is a good atmosphere and the local people are very friendly. I stayed in Thamel a few years ago and this felt like a much more real and authentic Kathmandu experience . Sara and Sudan (the owners) were so kind and friendly. They honestly could not help enough and I am so grateful that they helped me recover my mobile phone (which I inexplicably left in a local taxi). I would definitely recommend staying here for an authentic Kathmandu experience and the warmth of the hosts and local people :)
Cons: The local busses are cheap but often very overcrowded or full and for many just not worth the hassle. With no tuk tuks in kathmandu, the main option is to take taxis everywhere. Hiring a bicycle or motorbike is possible, but definitely not for the inexperienced or faint hearted on Kathmandu's roads!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: supporting staff, sara and sudan really doing well. abt the location... try rooftop view (mind your head) at the hotel location calm-full.
Cons: kitchen should be more clean
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Located in the quiet lane so you can take refuge from the noisy sounds of crowded traffic roads. You can walk (about 50 minutes) or take a cheap minivan or hire a taxi to reach the tourist area Tharmel. 7.5 Good
Pros: Good value for money. Got a private room and private bathroom with roof top views.
Cons: It's a bit complicated to get there. But very nice place and Sarah was very welcoming.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Family own guest house that’s why the room and washroom is clean and tidy. Consistent hot water on the shared bathroom. So many nearby restaurants. Location is quiet so you can relax very well during the night. Ms. Sara and his husband was very friendly and accomodating. Food was good and budget friendly. They have also a car so they can drop you at the airport during your trip at the very reasonable price. Would love to comeback again next vacation.
