Service at San Montano was among the best I've ever encountered. From the front desk staff to housekeeping to the servers to the drivers to and from the port, everyone was immensely helpful, professional, warm and dedicated. The location is stunningly beautiful - you can swim in one of eight (!) different pools of varying sizes and temperatures and see this beautiful corner of the island from up high. The entire hotel/spa is spotless but not sterile. The rooms are beautifully appointed with high-quality amenities, and the decor is warm and inviting without being cliche. You will want to stay here forever.
Excellent thermal water pools, great view from the window and the balcony, the personell of the hotel was nice to give us an excellent room with a great view. Special thanks to Marco the driver of the hotel shuttle bus which took us from the hotel to the beutiful sand beach. He is very nice. Some of the restaurant personell is not nice enough (not all). The price of the dinner served is too costly - 40 euro per person.
The location is fantastic, the view of the sea from the room was perfect. Quiet hotel, not on busy streets, mid age customers, no kids - a perfect relaxing place. The outside pool with thermal water at 36 deg. Was extraordinary!
Rooms are well cleaned. I really appreciate efforts of cleaning staff. Most of the staff speaks good English and sometime German. However, a lady at the reception does not speak good English and was not helpful, because she tried to avoid answering my questions about transportation. Although it is well maintained, the building is old and room is not so spacious.Bed and TV is small. Air-conditioning is old and not strong enough. I have to say that the hotel fee is too expensive even with special discount. The town is not so lively as the hotel and I would recommend this hotel only who wants to experience a stay in a old resort. All over the site, including pools, smells bleach.
The staff were extremely helpful in translation issues that I had with my Italian cousins who did not speak English. It was October and the air conditioning has been turned off, but in my opinion it was still too hot to be without air conditioning.
Quite clean, nice. The young gentleman at the reception was very helpful and nice. The hotel is equipped with SPA and swimming pools, but we didn't use it, because no one from the staff told us that what is provided in the hotel. We learned about it only before leaving, and all the facilities are working until 19.00 with a break from 13.00 until 17.00. It's very inconvenient. The biggest problem is the lady at the reception, she doesn't understand English but pretends, that she does and it causes misunderstanding. When we asked her about the hotel and the Island, she replayed that we can find all the information in the Internet. It was first time (and we travel a lot), when personnel couldn't help us. The hotel is not on the shore, so you have to go to the beach, which is across the road. The evening meal in the hotel (if it is not included) is very expensive, you'd better eat outside.
The advice we got from the night porter on our first night was perfect for us. We could plan our days out that evening with his help. We would have liked to use the bar on the roof top but maybe it was closed as we might have arrived slightly off season.
Good location in a quiet area, but near enough to transport links with the rest of the island. Professional staff who were polite and did their job well. Excellent food. Good facilities, for a fairly small friendly hotel.
the facilities, the indoor whirlpool is awesome, the sauna...we loved it. the breakfast buffet is good we did not know about the dinner dress code, because we only brought beach wear... the food room service is not adviceable, the sandwiches we got we're dry
Excellent location. good food. spa is a great extra. almost all staff very friendly and efficinet One mmeber of staff at reception lost her temper and ranted becuase we left wet foot prints on the floor. She was correct to highlight this becuase it made the floor slippery but I do not go on holiday and pay money to be shouted at. a courteous reminder was all that was needed
This Hotel is in a very quiet part of the resort, staff were friendly and helpful ,breakfast was 1st class-great coffee, pool and spa facilities were good. When i arrived i was told there was a problem with my booking(which i made 6 weeks before) and they could not accommodate me for the 1 st night of my 7 night stay and i would have to stay at a nearby hotel for the 1st night, they put this down to a problem with Booking .Com.i was given a free taxi to this hotel which to my mind was not as good as Villa Durruili, though i was charged the same rate for this night as for the 6 nights at Villa Durrueli. As a way of apology i was given a free massage in the hotels' Spa.The room i was given was on the ground floor juast off of the bar area,on the website it stated that single rooms were on the second and third floor.I would stay t this hotel again but i think i would make my booking via telephone.
Very pleasant staff, welcoming and friendly, both in reception and in the dining room. High standards of cleanliness, and well designed public areas. We would certainly return. Disappointed that the spa was not available during our stay due to refurbishment. This may have been notified to those booking directly with the hotel, but did not appear on Bookings website
Paola and the staff at the hotel were absolutely fantastic and were truly focussed on providing the best customer care. The bathrooms in the rooms could benefit from a little refurbishment.
Staff were excellent -always helpful and welcoming -food was good -pool was excellent, very clean and well presented with good chairs /shade Rooms were small, sea view was limited, bar area small & did not open so no evening/night social activity in hotel
Wellness center room was nice but very very cold
The pool was very nice and our room was small but comfortable. Reception staff were helpful, although they spoke very little english. The spa baths were nice. The hotel was very clean and well looked after. Shower was luke warm and not powerful. Restaurant and bar staff were not particuarly friendly or helpful. Breakfast was average. The hotel beach is very small and is very crowded. The bar appeared to close at different times each evening and therefore could not get a drink on some occassions.
The outside heated salt water swimming pool and the thermal indoor baths,at no extra cost.. The rooms with balconies. The bus stop outside the front door. Near to restaurants, shops, beach. The helpfulness of all the staff.
The location to town was perfect. Everyone was helpful. The guests at the hotel were older so we did not really fit in.
The swimming pool - water was perfect temperature and very clean.
Convenient location Unfriendly staff, not great facilities, and definitely not a hotel for younger travellers. Like an old age home.
Comfortable, close to the termal park, convenient bus shuttle
very enjoyable with a lovely, helpful staff . Not glamorous but thats what made it so nice. Clean, well air conditioned rooms with a great view of the sea and pool area from my balcony were very comfortable. ... grounds and pool area were really very beautiful.
The staff was friendly and very helpfull. I would recomend to a friend most definately...
Rooms were clean and resort area had everything you need to enjoy a day to a week of vacation. Shuttle service to the local town helped to avoid high taxi costs.
Stunning location. Beautiful site that seemed maintained for maximal beauty and enjoyment. very relaxing. The beauty of the site was the reason we went. We very much enjoyed our stay. The food was not so great. Breakfast could really use some fresh fruit. Dinner was elaborate and fancy--actually too fancy, some simpler and more straightforward choices should be added. Easier for the hotel and much better for the guests. ***also, there was no marking of the price of dinner so it was very difficult to enjoy without knowing what you were going to be charged until afterward.*** The price of dinner should be clearly marked on the menus. Also, I emailed for directions to get to the hotel and got wrong information that there was a shuttle from the port to the hotel--there is not. Luckily, we saw and took a cab but that was a bad situation to be in with a child.
all was really great! nothing
Fantastic location, good facilities, Difficult for people with problems walking - you had to call a golf cart (of which there were only 1 or 2 to get anywhere)
Beautiful grounds and access to beautiful cove with refreshing water Service was outstanding at pool and at restaurant Very responsive to all requests. Breakfast was very good. Rooms were a bit cramped. Although could be considered a plus you were isolated to rest of island We did rent a car one day. Some trees should have been trimmed that blocked sea view from our room.
Beautiful resort, with gorgeous views. Staff and service were impeccable. Wish we could have stayed longer. A lot of steps.
We had a very nice view from our room even though we didn't ask for a sea-view room! The view of the "Castello Aragonese" was simply gorgeous! The beach...if it can be called a beach! It belonged to another hotel, a 5*, but it was very small and the water was always washing off the sand under our sunbeds. They could do better!
My sister and I had the water front room with the balcony and it was very nice and comfortable. The uninviting look of the spa pool because the water was discoloured and rusting pipes were visible. Also, the water was tepid.
the beach is rather small
good breakfast for Italy, good location (20 min steps from main port), termal pool is free for charge, good bathroom poor gym, internet is not free
it was just ok and the pool was nice the room size was more for a single person and the breakfast not good standard, and we were not met at Naples airport as arranged
reception personnel tried to made her best to compensate the very poor facilities of the hotel the hotel should not be open to international booking as it is mostly reserved by old people receiving treatment from the national health service. The hotel is not a 4 four star but a very symple 2 stars. Lighting was awful!( old neons everywhere!)!! Room very small, location very noisy. Furniture in the room old and not in good state, minibar was empty, TV was an old one small of 14`` like in the old 80`, no toilettries facilities a part from a bar of soap. Room was clean and staff paid attention to the fact that there might be the dog in the room and we really appreciated it, beds were quite confortable though the pillows were not new and of poor quality. We have not seen the main rooms in the main structure as they did only accept dogs in the "dependance" and this is not indicated on the web page however the reception and the restaturant were again of a level of a 2 stars hotel. Hotel facilities are poor, the gym is symbolic and only opened in the morning, swimming pool next to the main road and sunbeds were very often taken permanently by other guests that used to leave their towels on and personnel did nothing to prevent this. Personnel at the restaurant very noisy and not friendly at all, breakfast buffet was poor! All in all a medicocre experience, if you want to go to a 2 stars hotel on a main noisy road without any charm and being rude serviced at the restaurant then choose the Donpepe Hotel otherwise go somewhere else. Please note though that the hoel is located very close to the very nice centre of the village.
The pool was pleasant. The reception by the hotel's owner was rude, arrogant and insulting. The room type we booked was not available and we were charged a good deal more for a 'superior' room. The description of the rooms was misleading. We moved out after first night. Never go there.
Short distances to activities (spas, beach, Lacco Ameno center, other towns in Ischia). Easy transportation by bus all around the island. Very clean hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Good choice if you want to experience things in Ischia by yourself instead of just relaxing at the hotel pool. Beautiful building, nice garden and peaceful location just 100 m from the "main street". No there is not, but we would have liked a more extensive breakfast.
close to beach, easy parking around hotel
I had a large comfortable room with a view of the sea. The staff were friendly and attentive. They spoke perfect English. Breakfast was excellent.
Nice location, clean pleasant hotsprings Intermittent wireless, probably not the fault of the hotel
I can hardly wait to stay here again. The owner Franceso was terrific! My favorite feature of the hotel is their saline thermal pool- I loved it! !!!! I would highly reccommend having dinner at the hotel. The menu is predertermined and very good. If you are a vegetarian them know and they will prepare something other than fish or meat. The hotel is not right at the port when you get off the ship. you can take the local bus 3 euros and it's the third stop look for the ambulence on the corner and walk up a couple blocks - hotel is on the right or take a cab for 20 euros bus is cheaper.
Quiet cozy room, comfortable bed Breakfast was a little sparse
Had a meeting at a nearby (~600 m away) hotel. The walk there along the water each day was a pleasant way to start and end the day. The facilities were good. The pool was refreshing. The sitting room/lobby was a pleasant place for coffee or a drink, and good for reading. Had dinner in the hotel one evening, and that was a very nice meal. There are some very good high end restaurants around. This was a very nice way to eat a pleasant meal when not going high end. The staff is pleasant and helpful.
Very pretty public spaces and rooms. Also had a very attractive patio area next to the thermal pool. We had a balcony that had a view of the sea even though the hotel is a block away.
the quietness and the food we had on four nights the ridiculous charge of 16 euros for the use of robes for 1 night only when using the spa pool and being charged the full price for our transfer back to the airport from Naples Port which was shared with 3 other passengers going to the train station!!, I have e,mailed the hotel re: this but have had no reply I felt this was extremely bad
Hotel staff Facilities
Nothing really special could be mentioned Small territory - hotel is actually on the busy street of the town Ischia; very small beach - tiny beach located in between two public beaches extremely overcrowded, poor swimming facilities - you swim in between hundreds of motorboats packed in front of the beach; poor location, small rooms
The hotel was delightful and staff helpful and courteous. The weather was not good .
A very pleasant hotel at the edge of the sea in Ischia Ponte (despite Google maps who have this wrong) . I had a single room that was quite spacious as these things go. The bathroom had every necessary piece of equipment although was quite small, however the single room could be used as an extension. The bed was comfortable, there was little if any noise from the road outside and the airconditioning worked well. Service was excellent. I did not try the "spa" facilities as they don't interest me, one being male and two, being past redemption. I did eat in the restaurant, and found it a very pleasant experience, good food and placed on a extension over the sea. The "beach" is small if you want to play with the sand, however plenty of sun loungers available for those who needed them. Restaurant might have been more geared to those on half-board in that the menus didn't carry any prices. Not a great problem but you need to either watch what you are ordering, or have a deep enough pocket at the end.
Ｔｈｅ ｌｏｃａｔｉｏｎ．．．near the beach. Ｔｈｅｙ ｄｏｎ’ｔ ｈａｖｅ ａ ｂｉｇ ｐｏｏｌ ｏｒ ｔｅｒｍｅ．Ｗｅ ｈａｖｅ ｔｏ ｇｏ ｔｏ ａｎｏｔｈｅｒ ｈｏｔｅｌ．Ｉｔ ｗａｓ ｔｏｏ ｍｕｃｈ．
the best experience at this hotel was the breakfast at the roof with a gorgeous view on Aragonese castello.. it was also nice that they offered us a room with sea view although we booked a regular one with village view, of course they charged us the same price... the beach is not good at all and generally the sea facilities even in the 4 stars neighbor hotel was better.. they have a swimming pool and thermo pool with the same beach.. but the beached are generally not that good at Ischia ponte area, we used to go to forio, lacco ameno or to the south for a better experience...
The hotel now had satelite tv with flat screens.....also free wifi in the lobby....reception staff is very friendly. Hotel is 300 meters from the best restaurant on Ischia....O Sole Mio
Helpful staff. Great location.
I have stayed there before so the familiarity was the best part - the view is fantastic! There is a lot more you can do in the hotel, as the hotel is connected to the Mare Blu next door but did not find this out until the last day - also evening dinner used to be served out side which I enjoyed very much now this has been cancled
My daughter and I had a great holiday in Ischia. We stayed at the Hotel Grifo which has a modern, contemporary and smart deco that is very pleasing to the senses. I loved the mountain and sea views from the hotel - which are out of this world! We enjoyed basking by the pool or just relaxing in the beautiful well tended tropical gardens. There are a lot of vantage points to sit and relax or just listen to the natural world going by (roof terrace, by the pool or on the hotel patio. My daughter and I found the staff very curteous and helpful, Belissimo!!! I cannot fault it. Since I holiday in Ischia every year, I will most certainly stay at the Hotel Grifo De Charme again!
this hotel is perfect on many levels. It is family run and charming, beautifully located on a hill overlooking Ischia. Very clean, very high quality furnishings and lots of attention to detail. The price is amazing considering that this is a luxury boutique hotel . Very good food but the dining room is too harshly lit. That was the only small minus.
Very clean, new hotel with excellent view and helpful staff
Very friendly and helpfull staff. The room/terrace/hotel is spotless clean. There was a free shuttle to Ischia and Cassamiciola which could be agreed with the staff. Breakfast was acceptable. Good value for money. I booked the sea view room which was a bit disappointing, because you do not have direct view out of your window, you need to stand on the terrace and look to the left between the trees to see the sea.
We had a fantastic time at the Grifo. The staff were friendly although for some the lack of english was noticeable, but we managed very well overall. The female reception staff were excellent & very helpful. We had a brilliant room overlooking the sea & onto Vesuvius - which was spotless. A huge bed and a double shower gave it that "wow". The blue & white colours, along with the simple slick lines of the room were well chosen. Exactly what you needed in the summer heat, cooling & fuss free. The extra €25pp for dinner is value for money compared to what you would pay for a four course meal out, well prepared & presented. A shuttle service took us to town/nearest bus stop, so no long walks to the hotel. A lovely quiet and small hotel, perfect The breakfasts were as good as you get in most hotels, although muesli would have made it even better. Cold scrambled egg was kept in a heater which was not turned on.
We were part of a group of 3 couples staying at the Hotel Grifo and we all agreed that our stay was wonderful, an extremely warm and genuine welcome by the reception staff (Marco). The flexibility of the free shuttle run from the Hotel was very welcome indeed. The facilities were all excellent. The Breakfast in particular was one of the best I have had in Italy. It was a shame that we only stayed for one night. I also wish that the Hotel would remain open over the Winter season
Everything absolutely excellent: staff, rooms, swimming pool, dinner, transport services. Quiet position with great view. One of the best places we have stayed on the many trips to Italy. Top price-quality ratio.
Nice & warm hospitality, stuff was always willing to help. The hotel is well maintained, & super clean!
The Hotel is very nice on a very high point with good views of the sea or mountain. View is was from the shared area outside the room but some rooms do have the view from the room. also it is high up on the island so renting a car or taxi's are required to get around either way if you run around the island much you will need 40-50E a day travel expenses.
GRACIE MILLE! Five stars excellent service. Nice atmosphere. Brand new hotel with nice design. We really enjoyed our stay and also the Grifo family shops on the island.
very attentive staff, clean rooms, good location, great value for money.
Nothing special. Extremely noisy! It was totally unclear from the description of the hotel that there is a busy road between it and the beach. There is also a hospital round the corner (emergency cars all the time) and a helicopter parking in front!
the island Ischia
Worth for money. Breakfast was excellent. You can also have a dinner for 15 Euro.Dinner was perfect. Really, i had a nice time. internet and electric plug point
Superior hotel decoration, very helpful staff and excellent service. Great restaurant meal.
Personnel is talking fluently english and is very helpful (hotel, spa and restaurant). Not at all bureaucratic. especially the spa and the restaurant make a very clean impression. the doctor is super efficient The price of half and full board is too high. therefore I booked only bed-breakfast
Great pool on roof, shuttle service from hotel, great breakfast, balcony off room Surly staff, prices at poolside bar, ants in room
The food, the decoration, the service and friendliness of staff The rooms are a bit small and noisy. Insulation from adjacents rooms is poor
spa facilities and breakfast
A 5 star hotel that really was at that grade and had staff, rooms and service that really delivered.
We loved the indoor natural thermal pool. The room was really beautiful and the restaurant was excellent
