View from the balcony was spectacular. There is a lot of places for relaxing in the hotel garden. Bus station "Cartaromana" is right in front of the hotel entrance. Small internal swimming pool is a good place to relax in the evening. Hotel was in the middle of reconstruction, but it was compensated with very low offseason price (nevertheless they could clean some stuff in the garden). Furniture inside the hotel is overornamented.
It was much farther from Ischia Porto than the description said. The hotel room was horrible. A weak three star hotel is more accurate than four.
Very friendly staff and very clean rooms. Wonderful Shower in bathroom. Excellent view from hotel room.
I liked the fact that the staff were very accomodating and the room was lovely, didn't think it would include a piano!
Amazing location, nature, sea view, very romantic, very comfortable room with jacuzzi, normal breakfast, bus station. All what you need for good holiday in belle Isola Ischia :) No
The beach was swimmable in November, soft coral by the dock. Great view onto the castle, with lovely balcony facing the sea catching the morning sun. You could jog to the castle in an easy 20 minutes. The furniture in room and hotel was 'old school' gorgeous. Front desk staff helpful and pleasant. It was a short walk inside walk to the thermal baths, fantastic for skin. Quite (plesantly) empty off season. Definitely a 4 star location. Location is a bit 'end of the line' probably an hour's walk from Ischia Port. Going rate is 15 euros for a cab. There is an infrequent bus service. ONE WARNING If not on full or half board, beware menu is limited and there are no other options nearby. We were told by unsmiling waiter that there was no choice but the 'boarder' food. They tried to charge 35 euros for a ratty piece of bream, a bit of fresh spaghetti, some fruit and a cold vegetable buffet. For contrast I paid 8 euros for fresh mussels in town. Waiter was 70% basil fawlty surly and 30% manuel comedic. One sub par experience...but still a lovely place.
I loved the rooms. They consider them deluxe but they are great upper class four star. Rooms are clean, comfortable with hydro-massage tub and shower. Do not stay in the standard rooms (as they describe them) they are lower 3 star. Staff has little knowledge of languages and since it is family owned really doesn't provide too much customer service. Could use improvement
the location was idyllic - very picturesque outlook across to the castle. Staff were quite aloof and not as welcoming as expected by a hotel of 4 star grading. It seems that nglish customers are rare, so the staff struggle - compared to German guests who are regular (and so info/materials are in the hotel for them). At dinner there were no prices shown on menu?? It costs EUR 35 each excluding wine (4 courses , and pretty good actually).
Placement, with adorable view of sea no free wi-fi, rather sleepy staff
Amazing location, beautiful spacious room with a sea view. Great facilities and right next to a bus stop for easy access into Ishia Porte and Ponte. The staff were helpful and I suspect we were upgraded as we were onour honeymoon. Very happy customers!!!
Sea view. Light, airy rooms and communal areas.
Good service, but quantity of small kids and german grandmommaz woz overwhelming. Not very suitable for good sleep, when kids start to cry early in the morning. Nope
The Spa Termal Swimmingpool and the architecture. There was not lift and we stayed at the 2nd floor.
Very clean facilities; responsive, helpful and supporting staff; meal is very good. The hotel is very close to the beach with a real sea-view.
Excellent views from the room, if a little far from the beach, but generally a great location on the island. Food was excellent and staff were helpful, albeit with limited English. The bed was as hard as a piece of plywood. Had to use spare blankets under the sheets to make it tolerable.
Extremely clean, very helpful and professional staff, and great food. Spa was only open during the morning.
Fantastic location. Good facilities at the hotel. The staff were attentive and friendly. Food was fantastic!
The staff was helpful an accomadating. Loved the view!
The best location in island Ischia, very big pleasure of nature place, beatiful seaviw, kindly staff and comfort room Not big room, breakfast was frugal
The staff were very friendly from the first moment we arrived to the the minute we left. the location of the hotel is stunning with view of the small harbour, beach and square of Sant Angelo opposite. Breakfast included with cereal, fruit, yoghurt, bread, ham & cheese and cornettos, would recommend.
Good location by the sea. Please note- better to let the hotel arrange transport if you have heavy luggage as the hotel is about 1km from the bus stop and then you need an electric luggage cart. Must thank Gisella at the reception for the help regarding communication in english..AC works well. No beach service as advertised.
The staff was very friendly and accomodating. Fantastic location. Food was delicious.
Beautiful location and views (if you get a room with a balcony or terrace). The perfect place to relax at Sant Angelo on Ischia! Would be nice to have signs to get there from the bus stop like several other hotels had, though it's easy to find really.
I liked the sea view and air, hotel architechture, design and decor, spa and pools, restaurant and the amiable waitors, food, plants, homelike atmosphere tv programs were only in German and Italian, internet access was provoded only in the common area with the queues to the only note-book, I particularly dislikeed rough soldgers' blankets on the bed
How the resturant and staff treatd us. We like atmosphere of the resturant over looking the bay. We had some problems with ac in are room and we complain about it and they were unable to fixed it.
The heated pools were nice, breakfast was ample and varied. The water from the faucets is all really excellent- we wondered if it was also thermal water. Nice walking distance from Panza and Sorggeto. Overall good value if you get a good price on a room. (We stayed in an economy room during low season). Our room was across the busy street and up the hill; kind of an inconvenient walk for using the pools. Our room had ants, but the staff did say they would take care of them.
The ppol, spa, and staff were great. The rooms were not up to 4 star standards so I felt a little mislead. The rooms were not attached to the more modern hotel.
very beautiful views of the ocean. Breakfast was nice. staff was friendly. The shower doors in room 825 are broken. Water floods the floor as a result of shower doors that do not shut completely. This was only a minor set back. Towels helped here.
Hotel Gemma was a wonderful location for us. It was up the hills a little ways from the Ischia port. The hotel was clean, the staff extremely friendly. There were beautiful views from the roof top and sitting areas and we got to watch the sunset every evening from the hotel. I was extremely pleased with Hotel Gemma and was very glad I chose to stay there for my vacation weekend in Ischia. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.
The food quality is almost of Michelin star quality and the best that we have had anywhere in Italy. Absolutely superb dishes and all freshly picked produce from their garden. Franco and his family, including his mother Gemma who started the hotel and is now 81, made us feel part of the family and the hospitality was wonderful. Great room and a large balcony with a great view of Vesuvius. The only disappointment was that we had to leave and return home :-(
Friendly copmfortable hotel None really
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They gave us a ride to a nice restaurant for supper and helped us figure out the bus schedule for exploring the next day (and sold us bus tickets). The breakfast on the terrace on a warm sunny morning was exceptional. Great value all around.
The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly and Franco and Rita in particular went out of their way to ensure we had a wonderful time at Hotel Gemma. The food is excellent also.
i really njoyd my wks stay everyone was very friendly and helpful to us the only fault i has was any info or food menu's were all in italian and a lot of the staff had very little english
I did not like the hotel Gemma at all. There was not a refrigerator in the room. The water in the shower was or cold or hot, nothing between. The breakfast was very poor.
Cosy hotel with very pleasant atmosphere, cordial owners, nice swimming pool and good cuisine
Very nice and neat hotel with tactful and attentive personnel. Beautiful panoramic view from the balcony of your room where you can work using unlimited Internet and enjoying the view. I liked that the pools were available at any time, even through night . Some hotels have restrictions in time till 11, 9 or even 7 p.m. and you do not have flexibility to use their facilities.
Hotel was quıte far evey from my expectations and from the level of 4 star hotel.Room was very small there was no towels.Personal of the hotel was not polite food was very poor. swimming pool wıth thermal water
the pool, the location Cleaning staff were very friendly and helpful, and dealt with the ant infestation in the bedroom and wardrobe. Management were not so helpful...asked 3 times for an extra pillow (only 1 per person) and towel (only 1 for 2 people!), and each time this involved a trek from the annexe we were in to reception and back.
It is located very close to the harbour where the aliscafo and traghetto from Napoli arrive, in Ischia Porto centre, so location is really convenient.
Room was cleaned everyday Decor was outdated, torn bed sheets, thin walls
Good location right in the center of Ischia town, 300m from the port. Nice and helpful staff. Would use again.
Great location for a short break, 5 minute walk from the ferry terminal. Excellent access for buses and shops. Great family run hotel
Close proximity to port. Staff were friendly and helpful. But breakfast was really disappointing. When I complained about a problem with water pressure in the shower, they immediately offered me another room. Appreciated the hotel's swift response.
Location is perfect: Villa Maria is close to the port, beach, promenade, shops, supermarket and bus station. You can order lunch/dinner for 15 Euro at the hotel, delicious choice, home style, new menu every day. Room was spacious, even with a fridge and rigrously cleaned. Stuff was happy to provide any information we needed. We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Maria.
Location, close to the port where the ferries arrive and leave, close to shopping and restaurants, close to bus stop and sightseeing. Clean place, family style. Quiet place. The staff at breakfast was not very friendly
Very helpful staff at reception. Good central location. Excellent restaurants nearby. Unwelcoming staff in dining room for breakfast.
Very nice hotel with a warm typical family- atmosphere. Location very central for busses and boats. Nice view over the harbour. The hotel could easily make the great roof-terrace a lot more attractive.
The real relaxation
Always very nice. Stayed in the expensive room at main building for the first time , and did not find such big difference from the apartment located near from the hotel. It is nice, however, it is expensive.
Beautiful location with good value for money option. The most extensive breakfast I've ever seen. Wonderful staff and gorgeous room.
The room was clean and functional. Saint Angelo is a lovely part of Ischia. The staff were not always helpful - That said it depended on who you had and some of the reception team did make more of an effort as our stay progressed. The location within Saint Angelo for the hotel is excellent - less so for the annexe. We knew of course we were staying in the annexe, what they neglected to mention is that this is a steep 10 minute walk up several hills from the hotel and that there is no means of transport between the annexe and the hotel (except for arrival and departure when you have a luggage service). When we arrived the twin room we had booked was not ready and we had to have housekeeping come and convert the double to twin bed (although this was done). hotel itself is enormous but dead with not atmosphere at all
Very good sea view, fine beach and clear sea in the end of may. Not a lot of people in the Aphrodita Spa Park near the hotel.
The staff were extremely kind and helpful. It was my fiftieth birthday and we were upgraded to a suite at their instigation at a small extra charge - a very nice gesture indeed. The hotel has a magical atmosphere and a superb location overlooking the sea with Capri in the background. It is also right in the centre of the beautiful Sant'Angelo, so you can go for a stroll round the village, yet it is also in a very quiet location. The buffet breakfast served on the terrace restaurant was excellent. We did not have half-board but will do so next time. The room included access to the thermal pool complex nearby for total relaxation.
Very good location for beach and thermal park. Good breakfast. Exellent staff No information about luggage delivering from the taxi stop. Hotel has included electrocar luggage delivering, but no information about that!
Very nice location relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff
The hotel's owner / reception staff has been professional and very kind. They have been very helpful: from info about interesting places to visit and Ischia's history, to useful tips about island's facilities, to logistic help (luggage deposit, car parking in Naples, scooter rental). In our humble opinion, a very important counterbalance of the disgusting impact with Naples city near the shipping area (dirty and dangerous, absolutely not efficient services, a very shame for the Europe!).Particular greetings and thanks to Mrs Giusto who shows the good face of the Southern Italy to her guests: full marks! Not possible to refund money (all reserved days) in the case of shipping problems from Naples.
Very friendly service. Good position on the island. sometimes airconditioning did not work - bit temperemental
The service and the friendly staff made our holiday. The food was superb and complimented by excellent local wine. Our room was large, airy and spotless with a superb view. All very reasonably priced, I could happily recommend this hotel to anyone.
nice comfortable rooms we did not eat at the hotel as expected but at a restaurant nearby. Food was fine but not the halfboard we thought we would get.
I had the pleasure to stay in the San Angelo room, which has a beautiful view on the sea. Raimondo's mother is very nice and takes great care of you. Because it was the low season, I had breakfast in bed :) The Albergo is nice and clean, and situated in a quiet area. I think you definitely need a car if you want to enjoy your stay in Ischia Island properly.
The owner Raimondo was very very kind and the staff very helpfull. It's very clean and quiet. Get the rooms with view on the beach, splendid! The other rooms are normal. Good breakfast. Very good value for money too far from the beach by foot at least 45 minutes, but easy to reach by bus, every 15 minutes, it takes 10 min to get to the beautiful Maronti beach
The owner of the hotel was very kind and extremely helpful. The room was a good size and very clean. Fantastic views overlooking bay.
- Very friendly host (who is also the owner of the hotel). - Nicely and quiet located, close to bus station and port as well as main shopping streets. Saunas and thermal bath - one of the main reasons why we chose that hotel - did not work. That might be due to either the fact that it was Winter season or us being the only guests in the hotel. However, one cannot find that information prior to the booking on that platform.
Large terrace - nice view - kindfull reception - use of internet The supplement I had to pay for dinner was 39 € for a simple 3 course menu.In the other hotels I paid a supplement of 12 € (in the 3 *** hotels) and 13 € in a 4 **** hotel - same period (november) and same region (island Ischia)
The view and location is great. And the food in the restaurant is good.
Very nice hotel in a gorgeous location with friendly staff and good food!
Nothing, people rude, hotel dirty, pool was empty and in disrepair. Rooms and facilities remind of a basic back-packer hostel. They refused to let us leave a half an hour after our arrival unless we pay for the accommodation, they also witheld our passports. We will report this facility to the Italian tourist body and government. The description of thier facilities are blantant missrepresentation and we were informed that we were not the only people who left once we saw the facilities seeking alternate accommodation. Bookings.com must investigate! We found alternate facilities at the same price that was 110% better that their facilities just a short distance from their address. We did not like anything and was threatened and intimidated by the management and eneded up paying just to get our passports to be able to leave.
Views across the sea and castle Noisy at times; generally catering for Italian and German guests
Room was excellent, superior air conditioning, excellent shower, meals were very good, better than most hotels. Pools were wonderful. Very easy access to the port by bus, and staff was very gracious and helpful, giving us bus schedules and lots of helpful information. Beach access, though down many stairs, was good. No, I would highly recommend it and will stay there again. I would have liked internet access, though they do have pay by the hour use in the lobby. Dsl/wifi in the room would have made it perfect. Room had beds for 3 in it, but would have been very crowded with 3 people in it., But good if it were a couple with a child..
The staff were friendly and helpful. The location and view beyond gorgeous. The little spa pools were our highlight and the private beach fabulous. A beautiful place!!!!
The spa facilities were very nice; the grounds were very well maintained - albeit a bit small (cozy?) by western standards but very nice all the same. The food was good quality and tasty...and the patio where meals were served was great - a beautiful view of the Castello Aragonese and the bay. Because we were traveling with two small chidren (3-year-old twins), we booked a 'quad' room - at a price of 250 euros per night. Our room contained a double bed with a set of bunkbeds stuck in a corner...making it very cramped. I suppose I needed to manage my expectations, but I was disappointed. The other dissapointment was the custom of charging to use a beach lounge chair.
1 beautiful environment 2 clean room 3 good service 1 transportation not convenient
good breakfast for Italy, good location (20 min steps from main port), termal pool is free for charge, good bathroom poor gym, internet is not free
My sister and I had the water front room with the balcony and it was very nice and comfortable. The uninviting look of the spa pool because the water was discoloured and rusting pipes were visible. Also, the water was tepid.
the beach is rather small
We had a very nice view from our room even though we didn't ask for a sea-view room! The view of the "Castello Aragonese" was simply gorgeous! The beach...if it can be called a beach! It belonged to another hotel, a 5*, but it was very small and the water was always washing off the sand under our sunbeds. They could do better!
The staff were extremely helpful in translation issues that I had with my Italian cousins who did not speak English. It was October and the air conditioning has been turned off, but in my opinion it was still too hot to be without air conditioning.
Quite clean, nice. The young gentleman at the reception was very helpful and nice. The hotel is equipped with SPA and swimming pools, but we didn't use it, because no one from the staff told us that what is provided in the hotel. We learned about it only before leaving, and all the facilities are working until 19.00 with a break from 13.00 until 17.00. It's very inconvenient. The biggest problem is the lady at the reception, she doesn't understand English but pretends, that she does and it causes misunderstanding. When we asked her about the hotel and the Island, she replayed that we can find all the information in the Internet. It was first time (and we travel a lot), when personnel couldn't help us. The hotel is not on the shore, so you have to go to the beach, which is across the road. The evening meal in the hotel (if it is not included) is very expensive, you'd better eat outside.
Rooms are well cleaned. I really appreciate efforts of cleaning staff. Most of the staff speaks good English and sometime German. However, a lady at the reception does not speak good English and was not helpful, because she tried to avoid answering my questions about transportation. Although it is well maintained, the building is old and room is not so spacious.Bed and TV is small. Air-conditioning is old and not strong enough. I have to say that the hotel fee is too expensive even with special discount. The town is not so lively as the hotel and I would recommend this hotel only who wants to experience a stay in a old resort. All over the site, including pools, smells bleach.
a lovely hotel with very helpfull staff and the setting is beautiful.
Beautiful garden, good size pool
no complaint. everything went well as expected.
The View The Hotel was not very close to anything interesting at all.
All staff were great, so was the food. I did not feel the room was a prestige, as I expected it to be.
the view is outstanding. the grounds are beautiful; it was very peaceful. the food was excellent the confusin on the pricing for the children
Very gentle and helpful staff, and very willing. Beautiful location, beautiful views, nice surroundings. Breakfast was excellent. Being in the centre of Forio it is - for the first time - not very easy to find.
