relaxing atmosphere, pleasant staff and good food
The breakfast was very good, a nice view at Lago Maggiore, free Wifi. It's difficult to park the car nearby the hotel and the rooms are to small. We missed the minibar.
Close to lake, Price interesting, TV LCD I paid for a double as mentioned in reservation form and I sleep in a tiny room with a single bed. Hotel is noisy because it is close to a church. Besides, whenever people are not careful with door closing, it creates lots of noise.
The hotel is lovely, with rooms up a tiny alley and seperate from the main building, but still in close proximity. The rooms are decorated with little murals of flowers or birds and the bathrooms equipped for elderly people. The diner and breakfast were delicious and the view from the terrace of Lago Maggiore is magnificent. The staff did not speak English very well, but their German was sufficient and they were very helpful in any way they could be.
Excellent view from our room Noise until early hours of the morning from the neigbouring club. no air condition in the rooms. no elevators.
The buffet breakfast because my son and I only enjoy continental food (brioche, bread, honey and fruit juices) and the choice was excellent to meet all needs. One could have breakfast inside or outside and the hotel itself is quaint and, upon appearance, delightful to look at, but ... our room was just not up to scratch, and having been in many other hotels, and having spent less than 70 euros for much better accommodation, my experience was not good at this one. Yes! The room was stuffy, small and every time someone else in the block where the annex room was (we were on the ground floor outside of the hotel) moved a chair or closed a door it could be heard loudly. Needless to say, I didn't fall asleep till after midnight because of the noise from other residents. Also, the ad stated 'free parking' but this was public free parking! And not free parking at the hotel. In addition, despite wifi being available free of charge I couldn't access the internet on my laptop despite having had no problems with wifi anywhere else (Austria in the Alps and in Malpensa and in many other places last year). This was the only place where I simply couldn't connect my laptop and the owners were unable to assist.
Well-run hotel, helpful staff, good location, lift Breakfast was reasonable but coffee was disgusting
the low cost of meals at the Meeting Hotel as part of the deal unavailability of an easy to enter shower cubicle
The hotel was in a great location making it easy to go to and from while the weather was inclement. Breakfast excellent as was room. There were no complaints whatsoever.
friendly staff. Right in the pedestrian area of town Have to get a taxi from the train station. Took a long time to check out in the morning. Can be quite noisy
The location, because it is really in the centre of the old town. Since the hotel is located in the centre of the old city, until late we can still hear people talking/laughing in the restaurants around the hotel which is a bit nuisance for us in the evening.
The position was excellent. Right in the centre. Rooms very small, though adequate for a short stay. Could have done with 2 pillows each, such a small thing but this always makes a huge difference to our comfort.
This was a good basic lodging option for Stresa. It is not fancy, but the rooms are clean, the breakfast is fine, and the location is fabulous.
Not much Very noisey due to location on the street. Poor accomodations. Tiny old elevator. Marginal breakfast.
The staff was very friendly and the location was fantastic
Ability of managers to speak English Noisy from walkways and open air restaurants below rooms. and especially from trash ickup in the morning at 6:30AM.
Very good staff, friendly atmosphere, possible to stay there overnight, have a good dinner, breakfast on the terrace. . . . and feel that you were in Italy, not New Jersey
Excellent food and staff very accommodating. Comfortable room.
Parking was useful Not clear that it was quite a way from the lake and even when one walked the 10 mins down to the water, it wasn't a pretty / busy part. We drove to a restaurant in the evening. The residential area it was situated in wasn't particularly pleasant. Probably would look elsewhere on Lago Maggiore next time.
The staff gentleman of the breakfest sallon. He is available to give you good informations. Thank you, they were precious! The staff gentleman by night was very hepfull too. The place, Suna in Verbania is very uggly. You can´t even imagine you are near Lago Maggiore. The staff lady on our arrival was very unkind, no wellcoming smile, protested about our citizen cards, didn´'t give us a city plan, didn't ask if we need any kind of information.
This hotel is 1st Class!
We enjoyed the location, the scenery, the people, and food of the area. The hotel was centrally located and open at the time we were visiting.
Comfortable room.Good location.Attentive staff.A very good staging place to make day visit to other lakes. None.
The decor is wonderful, location for the lake & town are excellent. I booked for October by mistake, but the reception staff were very understanding when we arrived a month earlier in September! They gave us one of the best rooms with big veranda, but one of our dogs got on to the stain glass room. It was a talking point of our stay! The price was fair for the quirkiness, but the full price is quick high.
The hotel has an unique and wonderful atmosphere. The room was very comfortable, clean and beauifully decorated. The staff (both in the reception and the staff in the restaurant) was extraordinary friendly and helpful. The food and service was excellent. The spa facility had a sauna and steamroom which looked very nice but was unfortunately turned off for most of the time so was not able to use it - which is a shame as the spa is very nice. The pool was open though.
The rooms were good. The location excellent. Nice to have free parking. The restaurant was fair. Breakfast was fair.
The staff were very helpful and the food was very good. we booked bed and breakfast but ended up eating dinner every night. We should have booked half board. The gymn was not really a gym, just a cycling machine and a couple of weights.
Close enough to airport and walking distance to train
The room was confortable and the food was pleasant. Receptionists, particulary one woman who was mostly on duty , tended to be rather surly and gave basic information I asked for in a grudging and unfriendly manner. One man was helpful and efficient, but with a very brisk manner. The efficient but more relaxed friendly manner that I have experienced in most other hotels would have been appreciated .
Excellent, no problems at all. Price could be lower for multiple nights.
Excellent hotel staff and srevice all around. Typical of Europe rooms were small, not like viewed on website. We did not get the class/level of rooms we paid for with no remedy from the hotel, this was a real dissappointment.
I liked the location of the hotel on the shore of Lake Maggiore with the view of the Borromean Islands front and center. The furnishings and finishes in the hotel were excellent. The staff was very courteous and helpful. The bath was cramped although it included a toilet, bidet, double sinks, shower and jacuzzi tub. The room was not spacious either but the furnishings were very nice.
Smart, professional staff and relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
I absolutely loved the view of Isola Bella and Isola Pescatori. It has the best view of any hotel in that region! Gorgeous! Didn't eat breakfast in hotel...to expensive! I'm sure it was good though. It would be great if they offered a continental breakfast for lighter eaters that was included in the room price,
The hotel had a warm ,comfortable atmosphere and the staff were professional yet friendly.they accomodated our needs very well..nothing was too much trouble.dining room was excellent.room 105 stunning view The swimming pool is outdoor,i cant remember noting that beforehand.there was some confusion with booking appointments for facials etc.we would have liked the courtesy car to have run more frequently at peak times but were happy that there was a service.these are very minor comments!
The care and attention of the dining room staff, the ambience, the excellent service of the shuttle bus drivers. Rather poor pool service. I.E. they seemed to decide whether anyone would use the pool rather than the customer. We had to collect own mattresses and towels after exploring under hotel. The request to reception for help was answered by "immediately" which never came. Admittedly the weather was doubtful but still felt we should be able to use pool if we wanted too.
being welcomed by professionals; great assistance and service; wonderful food; comfort; spa-massages swimming pool area too noisy due to nearby busy road, unfortunately this cannot be changed... They have a nice tennis court, but it is abandoned, a real pity.
The hotel decor was fabulous. The restaurant and bar staff very friendly. The beds were a bit on the hard side.
the luxury, the decor and the amazing views of lake maggiore nothing i did not like.
pretty room, lovely hotel. very clean, nice bathroom - a perfect hotel for the town it's in. breakfast was not included so we paid €6 extra for it. while bread was fresh, we thought it was a very small breakfast compared to other hotels we stayed in in Italy.
The location was right in the center of the town. We walks to everything. The manager was very heipful on advise for restaurants and attractions. There is no parking at the hotel but within about 5 blocks.
The hotel has smart, modern decor and furnishings, with good-sized rooms. It is well-located, in a restored area in the historic centre of Intra I would however single out the (small) staff as being particularly pleasant and helpful. It is necessary to use public car parks some distance from the hotel.
Great location with wide variety of shops and restaurants. Very close to the lake, with beautiful views. Spotless, comfortable, and well designed room. Friendly and helpful staff. A bit difficult to find; no parking on site(only 5 min walk)
the hotel is in the heart of Verbania, absolutely close to the city-centre,hotel is in an old traditional building but perfectly renovated with modern art furniture:well-furnished and big apartement,well-equipped,very clear, the staff was very kind and flexible so it"s worth the money!!!
Location Breakfest, shuttle service
Nice hotel. A little bit old Some of the staff members don't speak English at all. I asked for Internet access and the staff member could not help me and told me to come back tomorrow.
Good clean hotel in nice position with friendly staff Poor beakfast with little choice
The location of this hotel was excellent and good value for money The beds were very very soft and very uncomfortable. Happy we only stayed for 3 nights.
central location between train and centre
The hotel staff was friendly and knew the area quit well. The breakfast, to little choice.
Friendly and attentive staff, clean rooms, buffet breakfast was lovely No Bar !
The owners are very kind
Location was excellent
Very nice staff! Nice location! Good breakfast! I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Very good value for the money. Would recomend it to others!
Extremely friendly and helpful, great breakfast and close to town, a short drive down the hill to Stresa.
This was a wonderful family-run B&B in the hills behind Stresa. Massimo, the owner, was the perfect host and he even came to collect us from Stresa centre after we got lost trying to find our way to him. The room upstairs is self-contained and has a nice en-suite bathroom which the other 2 rooms do not. Breakfast on the outside terrace was lovely although fresh juices would have been nice. Overall, the ambience was very relaxing away from all the crowds but careful if you attempt to walk down to Stresa and back - the roads are very narrow and winding! The B&B was difficult to find - even with sat nav. Make sure you get very detailed location instructions beforehand or else you will drive right past it (several times) and may get hopelessly lost. Minor complaint is that there is no shower curtain and you end up sitting in the bath but, frankly, we couldn't care less given the wonderful setting.
The room was perfect. It was a penthouse room with a private terrace. I suspect some of the other rooms might not be so nice since the renovation process seems to be taking a long time. Althought he room had been renovated, the bathroom could have been done better. The plumbing clearly was not on the agenda so the shower was pretty poor. Nevertheless, it all worked and was clean. Some of the staff were not as polite or friendly as you might expect from this quality of hotel. I suspect the training is at fault here - they should know the difference between professional and perfunctory.
The staff were friendly & flexiable. The breakfast was great and the location was Excellent. The family rooms have great space!! Air Conditioning did not work. It was not listed as a feature in the website or our booking, but we would have liked it for an hour before retiring.
Conveniently located on our way to Cote Azure
Good location, nice big rooms, well equipped, excellent view over the lake They have a strange policy to close the heating system during the night so it was a little chilly. Also the breakfast was as expected: few choices, some fleas in the orange juice
Excellent room, spacious and comfortable Staff was limited, perhaps because off season?
Lovely setting, location and view. Large comfortable room though very basic. Basic services. Satelite TV unavailable... wanted to watch important football match... aarrgh! Bathroom very dated... no shower curtain causing mess. Window roller blind requ'd attention and kept falling down. Hotel though recently decorated still requires some updating and general maintenance.
Great location, big room, good breakfast. Our room was very cold. Noise coming from outside during the night (maybe the boiler but given the cold in the room it looked like it wasn't actually working).
perfect location and wide room
Great Position, comfort and freindly staff.
Large room perfect for family of 4, fantastic view across lake. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was adequate, but minimal and coffee, considering it is Italy was awful!
Nice location right by the lake. Excellent wifi signal in the room. One of the best as in the last 5 weeks I have stayed in numerous hotels offering free wifi in the rooms when the signal was so weak you couldn't connect. Very quiet in the hotel as it was off season. Free parking right outside the hotel easy to find. Not sure what it would be like in the busy season to find a park. Nice large rooms with large bathroom. Shower is over the bath ( which is ok) but shower has no curtain so lots of water goes on the floor.
Great location in Stresa ... close to everything! And, Johnny was the most excellent host - gave us the best, helpful & most accurate advice ever!!
Very convenient location for seeing the town of Stresa and the attractions of Lago Maggiore; very helpful staff.
The owner was very informative and recommended places of interest and local restaurants. We were there on business and did not spend much time in the hotel, our rooms were clean and comfortable and extra pillows arrived seconds after requesting them. All in all a very enjoyable stay.
The hotel owner,Mr. Siani, takes excellent care of his guests by providing tour advice, restaurant recommendations and reservations. He also helped with our bus transfer to Malpensa airport. The hotel location is on a quiet pedestrian street around the corner from Lake Maggiore, the bus and boat stops and lots of restaurants. The train station is about 12 minutes walk slightly uphill and 5 minutes by taxi. Our Triple Room was rather small with balcony but no view. The breakfast was modest.
The staff were very attentive, helpful and friendly. The location is right in the heart of Stresa. Good value for the money. No
The hotel staff was extremely nice and disponible, the room clean and quiet Poor choice at breakfast
The owner of the hotel went out of his way to make our stay more comfortable. The hotel is located on a beautiful 300 year old house.
Owner was very gracious!
Gianni the host was very helpful, went out of his way to give information about the area. We stayed on a very busy weekend, and there was an extreme amount of street/party noise. However, it was probably a one-time thing.
the staff at this hotel were wonderful especially Angela the receptionist who was a mine of info the room couldnt have been better fab views very clean breakfast each morning great a five star experience we will be returning a s a p
Excellent hotel wonderful view.,nice!!
The staff were helpful and friendly. The room had a great view of the lake and the breakfast was very good
The reception staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. The restaurant staff run a very impressive facility to a high standard, The view from my room was wonderfull and breathtaking and will remain the abiding image of our holiday. The room cleaning staff were very helpfull and work hard in keeping the rooms fresh and clean. Yes, the cost of using the Internet facility is the most expensive I have ever seen anywhere in the world. It is disgracefully slow and in my opinion borders upon being unusable.Twenty Euros for one hour is disgusting!! Either the Hotel or Swisscom are ripping off the Hotel patrons outrageously. It leaves a lasting bad memory of an otherwise very good hotel.
I like the location and the vue over the see. Yes that the room vas very smal
I was there so short time, so i cannot tell
A very nice and supporting atmosphere, caring staff, they even run to the railway station to bring you the left colledge ring. Bath, brilliant view to the lake. -
friendly staff who spoke English only buffet dinner available. No wine in the minibar. Pool outside and you had to cross the road with heavy traffic to get there.
Everything there is excellent; the lake view, restaurant and rooms Not a thing
Nice hotel, not overwhelmingly luxurious, or large, just right for our taste. True 4 stars and in off season good value for money. Probably the most enjoyable in a trip that took us from Italy through Switzerland, Germany and France. Street noise as we were offered lake view room, but the heat in the room to high and we slept with the window open.
Location in Stresa
Near the train station, breakfast, and could walk most places Front desk employees when in the concierge services could be more helpful and answer questions in greater detail, especially if a traveller is new to the area and new to Europe's transportation modes.
The hotel atmosphere.
It was great. I would return. Perfect location, modern, and clean. Pool is across the street and right on the lake (better since you are in Stresa). They accomodated a family of three with an upgrade to a junior suite -- making sleeping arrangements comfortable for our adult son. It's hard to find a room for 3 with comfort!
Location and view to lake
Upgraded to a junior suire Poor breakfasts and extremely slow service at dinner.Inconvenient parking.
We didn't like anything, especially the cockroach in our bedroom. The decor was dirty and out dated, the balcony was falling to bits, when I stepped out of the shower or used the toilet anybody on the lake could have looked into the bathroom as there wasn't a curtain or blind at the window! The man who served breakfast was downright rude and ignorant!
Apart from slight difficulties with the Internet our stay was really enjoyable. I will remember the sound of waves and beautiful veiw from the window. All lake destinations and attractions are easilly accessable, espetially if you travel with a car. Friendly staff, atmospheric restaurant Some difficulties with the Internet link. After the refurbishment of the upper terrace it's going to look nicer, now it spoils the first impression.
Location simply cannot be beat! Hotel beautifully located on shorefront Lake Maggiore, and within short walk Laveno town center and waterfront. Stayed here for a weekend amidst business trip. Had a fantastic break, definitely made the right choice place to stay. Junior suite is spacious room with balcony above the lake. Owners helpful and friendly to someone who is not good at italian language. The dinners are excellent! Great chef, great fresh local fare and seafood. Had an all-round wonderful and peaceful weekend. Not something I did not like: but my response to other reviewers that indicated the rooms are small. Standard rooms do look small (simple standard european basic rooms). However, the Junior Suites are very spacious, comfortable, most have balconies, and, they only cost a few more euro... Do youself a favor, book ahead, and get a junior suite.
the view was amazing and very close to the town of Laveno, the room was pleasant and clean.
Incredible view of the lake and mountains. Great locatio in Stressa. Absolutely one of the best in Italy.
It was wonderful to experience a few days of grand "belle epoche" style. The staff was friendly and helpful, and we had a nice stay. I wish the lighting in the bedrooms was better for reading. The bedside lights are not great for reading. Since it was raining for most of our stay, this was important.
all was excellent No
a truly "Grand" hotel, very spectacular museum-like design, full of artefacts and ambiance. Restaurant rather expensive but very good, staff helpful and efficient. Close to Stresa beaches, shops and restaurants I think it is applicable to all the most expensive and renouned hotels on the Stresa promenade. Lake - facing rooms are exposed to the noise from the road (which isn't very busy, but an occasional bike makes quite a sound) and those garden-facing -a train which is not quite close but the noise reverberates from the mountains, so we chose to sleep with the door closed and the air conditioning switched on on the last day. These are however minor problems compared to the grandeur of the experience.
Have stayed in many other Stresa Hotels ,this is the best by far..at a price The rooms do not have tea & coffee
Our stay was wonderful! We were upgraded to a gorgeous room overlooking the lake, however, all the rooms looked superb. We were a very short walk to the city center and could see the islands on the lake from our balcony. The boats to the islands were also close by. The staff at the hotel were more than outstanding and when our car broke down they completely took charge and helped us get a new car. We had a great facial and massage in their lovely spa. I couldn't say enough about this great hotel. It was a fabulous and I can understand why Ernest Hemingway wrote about it in "Farewell to Arms". The perfect start to our Italian vacation.
