Location is great, breakfast was good.
My single room was cramped and weirdly laid out with the shower and toilet on either side of the front door. Very basic but strange. Importantly, traveling as a single, I felt safe. I had joked to friends that the hotel was so close to Paddington Station that I might hear the trains. Well, it was no joke! I did hear the trains rumbling below, but as a former New Yorker, I was able to sleep through them.
Location, inside 10min walk from Paddington Station, less than 15min walk from Hyde Park. Breakfast a self service mainly a continental style, though scrambled & Boiled eggs are available. Our room was at the front overlooking a very peasant park.
This is London so it's going to be expensive for what it is, though this is in the 'more affordable' bracket; it's going to be a compromise. Several items in need of repair, TLC and maintenance, but expense and enthusiasm are both on a budget. The affordability attracts the lower end of the market.
Room was basic and sufficient for a maximum of couple of days stay. Great location for tourists, close to tube, railway station and restaurants.
There is no elevator, narrow staircase and hardly any pressure in the shower.
The staff were friendly and helpful. Room very clean.
We were in room 814, the walls paper thin, it felt like the other guests were in our room! Breakfast was very poor, cold toast, no pastries, jam that did not taste like jam.
Room was a great size, clean and well design (,lots of plugs etc). Only two issues: 4th floor us up several narrow and steep flights of stairs. No help was offered, I didnt ask as I didn't know. Water from tap is not potable (drinkable) despite this being London in 2019.
