This hotel has a very pleasant swimming pool area, excellent ceviche, and good food and service overall.
This is the best option for a moderately priced hotel close to the airport. There is a pool, friendly service overall, and modern rooms with AC. We have stayed here before with breakfast included, such as on our arrival night. The morning we were flying out, we thought breakfast was included as it had been before. Imagine our surprise to have a hotel employee chase us down at the airport to demand payment half an hour later as we were trying to check in our luggage and go to security to board. Very strange behavior to try and collect a $35 bill, which we certainly weren't trying to avoid after spending thousands on this trip. An email to the hotel management went unanswered.
The Hotel is very nice and staff is very professional. Room was very clean and modern. Be sure yo get a figm price from the shuttle at the hotel. He took us to burger king and the mall and picked us up at the mall which is maybe 10 min away, then charged us 40$. Is this a nyc taxi in managua? Other taxis in town would have been maybe 3$ each leg of that outing equalling 9$ total, not 40$. Otherwise our stay was great.
This may have been an infrequent occurrence but I waited for the airport shuttle for 30+ minutes at 10:30 at night without a shuttle being seen. Other hotel shuttles came and went but not the one I needed. I was told by airport personnel that it was very late and the shuttle would not likely show up. Cost me US$10 for 1.2 mile taxi. Disappointing given that the Camino Real is a traveler and business hotel and knowing of late arrivals should be routine.
Convenient location in safe neighborhood. All amenities and great breakfast.
I enjoyed my stay mainly do to the staff, they were extremely helpful. The lounge met the needs of an adult traveler very relaxing and welcoming. It also felt like a very safe environment. I stayed at three hotels in five days in Nicaragua and I think this was the best one (intercontinental, pelican eyes and this one) granted each one met a different need for a certain guest. My stay was too short too really comment on the negative. I found the location to meet my needs.
Location & grounds. Outdated decor, dirty couches, damaged furniture, no free airport shuttle, inadequate Internet coverage, price of food in its bar and restaurants.
Good service room, excellent attention on lobby With baby is hard to trouble cause of the cleaning of bottles, need a microwave, the people from room service helped with that but did wrong
This place was absolutely stunning. The cabins themselves are spacious and fully furnished with everything you need to be self-sustained. Very clean too. Now the views... Are truly amazing. It overlooks the mountains, volcanos and lagoon, which are breathtaking. It feels as though you have them all to yourself. Location is great too, right on the highway between Managua and Masaya. Highly recommended for all kinds of travelers who are willing to trade some luxury for a truly unique experience. The only thing that is worth warning is that there is not always hot water available for showering. I took this as part of the experience and didn't really mind, but I'm sure you can ask about the schedule and plan accordingly.
I was so disappointed with this hotel!! I actually made a point to book a 'nicer' hotel for our last night in Nicaragua thinking there would be less chance of problems occuring- totally wrong. Their customer service barely exist, prices for massage are listed wrong at front desk ( you don't learn about that until after your massage). I had confirmed a bottle of champagne and a cake in our room prior to arrivel 3 times and it still wasn't there. There was miscommunication with the hotel and their own taxi service. We were told the driver was new and didn't understand how the system worked nor did anyone bother to explain it to us. Our $7 cab ride ended up costing us $35 which we were stuck paying. Normally I don't mind paying for pricier hotels but I like to be informed first.
Very beautiful hotel right next to one of the two most popular and modern shopping centers, multiplexes and food court, and one of the best steak houses in Managua, El Chrusco. Beds very comfortable, clean and rooms have high end furnishings. Beautiful lobby with lots of natural artifacts looking out to the pool. In my opinion the best hotel in Managua for the price and I am a permanent resident now. The only shortcoming is the quality of the staff. They are young, beautiful and not well service trained. Other than that it is a real bargain (except you have to pay for wifi). Look for weekend discounts since this is clearly the premier business hotel.
My husband and I love the food at this hotel, it is great! Our hats off to the cooks. !!!
We stayed at the Real Intercontinental for one night since we were going to be visiting 4 other cities in Nicaragua. All I can say is that it is a fabulous hotel. Beautiful lobby, rooms, bar, pool...Everything was clean and well equipped. We stayed in an executive room which included free drinks from 6-8 pm and breakfast in a private lounge. Everything was great! The bartender, I believe his name was Jose, was very cordial and friendly. The breakfast was also great! Even though the nacatamales (traditional nicaraguan dish) had run out, they were nice enough to order more for me! It is also steps away from the mall and it has a beautiful view of Managua Lake. Definitely recommend this hotel!
I often stay here when I return to Nicaragua, the Shuttle service from the airport is prompt and courteous, the drive to the Hotel is confusing so make sure you know where and how your going to your destination. The Hotel staff are all well experienced and very professional in thier tasks, make sure you explain what your request are, they will be accomodated but make sure, Expect a service that at times seem slow but thats Nicaragua. The rooms are top rated, beds, TV, internet, mini-bar, just overaall good. The bathrooms are very nice, great towels, lots of them. Breakfast is the icing on the cake, whatever you desire(within Nicaragua), you can request, omlettes, pancakes, fruits, cereal,, great coffee. Overall a great Hotel near a major shopping mall.
The hotel is a historic building remodelled as a hotel, located right in front of the park in Granada. Rooms are nicely decorated and confortable. Breakfast is included in rate, at a cafe right next door. Lobby is beautiful and they have a wine bar on premises.
Stayed here for 3 nights in late March. Was given room 214, a 'King Superior' room which was on the 2nd floor on the side of the hotel. The room was large with a very high ceiling, with a nice, but small, balcony that overlooked a very quiet side street and a local elementary school and community center (was neat to see the local school children sitting in class during the day). Common facilities were very nice - a small pool, where they served breakfast each morning; a small but efficient business center; an open-air lobby that overlooked the Parque Colon (central plaza); and a small bar that offered outdoor seating where you could watch the comings and goings of the plaza. The hotel staff was incredibly friendly at all times - Carlos, one of the bellman, was always there to greet us, to help book local sightseeing tours, exchange currency (though U.S. Dollars are widely accepted throughout Granada), ensure our room was in order, assist with our luggage, or for anything else that we needed. And the location couldn't have been any better - right across the street from the Parque Colon, where there was always activity, and less than a 5 minute walk from the Calle La Calzada, a pedestrian mall with numerous outdoor restaurants. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to the area.
My family (wife and two young daughters plus I) had a great time at the hotel. The hotel itself is a colonial delight, with all the trimmings. There is a beautiful small pool in the courtyard that the kids had to themselves much of the time which they loved. The staff was friendly, quick to assist and always top notch. Attention to detail is obviously the theme of the hotel. The location of the hotel in the Central Plaza could not be beat, within walking distance of all the important sites and restaurant/bars of the city. I would give them a resounding recommendation!
Comfortable, lovely room, and a wonderful staff. Would I use them again? You bet!!
You can't go wrong with a stay at La Gran Francia. The property is beautiful and in a perfect location. The staff is helpful friendly and professional. The pool was out of order but we did not mind much.
This was our honeymoon and we paid extra for a gauranteed upgraded room, not only did they not give us an upgraded room but they moved us to three different rooms including one at another hotel in a sketchy location for the three nights we were there!! On day one they even had the nerve to go into our room and take all our things out without telling us. It was invasive and embarrassing. They told us that Univision was filming or the water filter was broken or that someone had overstayed. Many different versions of lies when it was obvious they had just overbooked their hotel. They gave us a free half hearted dinner to "compensate" for all this but this remains one of the worst customer service experiences of our lives.
Great staff, location and amenities! My family loved the jacuzzi in the nice private patio! My husband is an architect and loved the decor and details around the hotel, and our room. The only thing he wasn't sure was about the lighting fixtures, as every time that he wanted to be out in the jacuzzi the light will go off inside the room while I was trying to take a shower, weird. Also, recommend mosquito repellent as there were quite a few in the patio, and they were sneaking in when the door opened. Anyway, we were very happy overall! I highly recommend it! :-)
I was participating in a conference,so this property´s location in front of the Convention Center was ideal. My room was very large, with a sitting area, it also had a lovely view of Lake Managua. Breakfast was included which was nice, along with internet access, all very convenient. There are restaurants within walking distance. I recommend visiting La casa de los Mejia Godoy if you are there on thu ir friday nights, live music by Nicaragua´s most famous musical family, a block away from the hotel!
The hotel has been modernized with LCD tv's and new furnishings. I stayed in a suite and access to the executive floor were breakfast was served as well a cocktails/appetizers in the evening from 5 to 8pm. both in a private setting overlooking Lake Managua. A good place to have a business meeting in the evening. It will certainly impress your guest. There are 3 rental car desks in the lobby and free guest parking with 24 hr security. The property is right across a modern shopping center. Overall, I highly recommend it.
We started our drive and see trip at the Crown Plaza because it appeared to be the ''best of both worlds'' -- an American style hotel with a bit of a Nicaraguan feel. After a somewhat harrowing experience getting through the airport, the airport to hotel transport was a godsend. We could not have managed one more negotiation! The hotel was welcoming, the staff was helpful, the room was a slight step above basic, and the bed was heavenly. The hotel restaurant offered good fare, excellent service, and good prices. In the morning, the pool was welcoming and warm... and empty except for me. I can't remember when exercising was so relaxing!! We walked up the hill behind the hotel to take in the views of the city. It was well patrolled and felt extrememy safe. The hotel staff was very helpful in making recommendations for what to see and do -- even though their English was not very good. With their slight knowledge of English and our slight knowledge of Spanish -- and a lot of gesturing and drawing -- we got everything we needed. The best recommendation we can offer is that the hotel experience was so pleasant and so relaxing that we chose to stay at the hotel again for our last night in the country. Tip: Ask for a high floor -- the views are lovely!!!
DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT IN NICARAGUA . FIRST TIME MY WIFE AND I HAVE TRAVELED TO NICARAGUA . THIS HOTEL IS A GEM IN THE CENTER OF A POOR COUNTRY . THE FOOD AND STAFF WERE GREAT . THE STAFF SPEAKS ENGLISH AND WAS VERY HELPFULL . NICE ROOM AND GREAT FOOD . GREAT CHOICE .
