8.8 Excellent
Pros: It was super chill. The atmosphere and decoration was amazing. The food was awesome and the staff very very nice!
Cons: Pay attention they let outsider access to the beach for 5$/day. So on Sunday you may keep an eye on your sun bed because it gets crowded.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything.!!
Cons: Everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good selection of dishes, the cook is French, and he served us French dishes, they were delicious! Casa Marimba is the best place to stay for people that want to have a break from a hectic, and stressful everyday life. Surroundings are beautiful and there is so much to see around the Laguna de Apoyo!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: -Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner -beautiful location -very clean room -accomodating staff We would highly recommend this peaceful place!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very clean and comfortable (we didn't even use the air-conditioning. The food was delicious and the staff was always helpful. They threw in a couple of extras, since it was our anniversary.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Our stay at Casa Marimba was wonderful! The views were amazing, our room very comfortable and the food was delicious. We had planned to stay two nights but ended up extending. The owners were lovely, and the very patient and kind staff, who don’t speak much English, really made us practice Spanish, which was fun and allowed us to really immerse ourselves in an authentic experience. I would definitely go back, and recommend Casa Marimba to anyone who wants a fun, relaxing time with breathtaking views, a lush landscape and endless stargazing.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is much more enchanting and beautiful in person than in the photos. The food is absolutely delicious and the best margaritas I've ever had. The place is very chill and in the off season it is great because the Laguna is quiet and we had the beachfront all to ourselves. This is a lovely oasis and a very hip and well taken care of property. Nicaragua is a must destination for any intrepid traveller who wishes to experience Central America, off the beaten path, and to really escape the tourist traps of other, more popular destinations. This hotel is definitely worth a trip!
Cons: We paid for AC, however the unit was not very powerful, and we ended up not using it, as the air was cooler with windows open and the fan.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent beach location, relaxing atmosphere, convenient to pay by card
Cons: Quite far from Everything else
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good staff, beautiful scenery, free kayaks, great selection of food, trip to Masaya volcano, comfy bed...all was great!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location of the hostel is beautiful, right next to the lake. The staff is super friendly and the food is really good, especially the churrasco with chimichurri. Would definetely recommend to try this!
Cons: We had a private room with bathroom but our room was the one closest to the road, a little bit far from everything. It felt a little bit that we were not part of Paradiso but that we were just outside it all. The price for a room wasn’t cheap so expected a little bit more when you see the rest of the complex. Still, this is absolutely no reason not to go, the rest is really beautiful but I would ask for a different room
8.3 Excellent
Pros: This place is great for a relaxing few days. The food is amazing, everything was delicious. Most mains are between $6-8, so it’s reasonably priced especially for the quality that it is. Beers are $1.50, Nica Libre $2, and all other mixed drinks $3-4, so you’re paying a bit of a premium on drinks, because they know you have buy drinks there. They do have a welcome drink every evening, which we really appreciated. It’s also resort style, and they will bring you your food and drinks to your table or beach chair after you order, which is a nice perk! The staff were all very friendly. Our room was comfortable (private w/ shared bath), and we had a fan. It was a touch warm in the room, but not too bad. The nightly activities were really fun! There is a ping pong table, board games, pool table and kayaks, so lots to do! The shuttle back to Grenada was only $2 pp, so it’s nice they charge a fair price on that. We’ve recommended this place to a few people since we’ve gone!
Cons: The wifi here is terrible. It is so spotty, and wouldn’t work for hours at a time. This was frustrating for many guests. We stayed in a private room with a shared bathroom, and the bathroom was a bit from the room for me. Also would be nice if there were hooks or shelves in the rooms. People would “claim” beach chairs for the day by laying their towel or shirt on them, and then go swimming, kayaking, to the restaurant etc and nobody else could use them in the meantime. This is made even worse because people come from Granada on day passes so there are way more people than chairs. I realize this isn’t entirely the hotels fault, but it was soooo frustrating. I think the hotel should either get more chairs, or post a sign that you cannot “save your spot.”
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very beautiful hostel, nice staff, good food at a reasonable price! Free kayaks and welcome drink every night!
Cons: The bed sheets were very used and could have been changed!
6.0 Good
Pros: Great spot on the lake... Great restaurant and activities.
Cons: I'll little bit expensive... And price are in us!?
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Amazing place to chill out - great food, great prices and Great Lake! Volunteers were great and a very social atmosphere in the evening but not forced or a party hostel
Cons: It felt like things could be a bit cleaner, we stay in a couple of dorms and one of the bathrooms was really dirty.
7.0 Good
Pros: Nice location on the lake. Free kayak. Many options to chill. Free coffee and tea the hole day.
Cons: Food is just okay. But you have to eat there because there are not really options around. No kitchen. Bathroom smelled really bad. Was super warm in the room. Could not sleep the second night. Stuff was ok.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property offers a nice bar/terrace with lake view! it has its own beach where you can spend the whole day! They offer free kayaking and card games, chess, billard and table tennis - all free of charge! The dorms are generously big and have fans all around (if needed). The bunk beds are nice and comfy! the food is very nice as well as the drinks! Although a little bit more expensive than in the rest of the country the prizes are still fair (e.g. 4$ for mojito, 1.50$ for beer). Breakfast starts from 3.50$ (Gallo Pinto or Banana Pancake) and can be up to 6$. Free Coffee however is abailable during the whole day =) A cheap alternative for dinner is the small family comedor 2 minutes outside of the hostel with nice local food (chicken, beer, fish or vegetarian dish). They also organize events every evening. Thursday trivia night, Saturday Beerpong, etc...
Cons: We liked everything :)
Laguna Beach Club - Masaya - Building

8.7 Excellent (162 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Offering a private beach area and water sports facilities, Laguna Beach Club is situated in Laguna de Apoyo in the Masaya Department. The hotel has terraces for barbecuing and views of the lake, and guests can enjoy a meal at the restaurant or a drink at the bar. Free private parking is available on site. The hotel features free WiFi throughout the property. You will also find a shared kitchen and other amenities like a table tennis area. Granada is 11 km from Laguna Beach Club, while Managua is 34 km away. Managua International Airport is 27 km away. Laguna Beach Club is located in a Natural Protected Area.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Free Kayaks Diving Boards Staying in the luxurious bed tent with the monkeys above The view The kitchen
Cons: Needed more time.
6.0 Good
Pros: First the good, although the deafening music at the place destroys the entire experience. Laguna Beach Club is a beautiful property. We stayed two nights in a double room with shared bath. There was no AC but also not needed in December. The room overlooked the laguna. In the morning and evening when the day pass guests have not arrived, it is absolutely gorgeous. You hear and see the birds and monkeys everywhere. There are hammocks, sitting areas and comfortable beach lounge chairs. We enjoyed the The property is located on a kind of a private bay area. The entry into the water is gradual with minimal rocks and there are two nice platforms to swim up to. Plenty of life-jackets for both adults and kids. This is probably the only place at the Laguna which allows you to bring your own food and drinks and has a kitchen. The kitchen is poorly equipped for real cooking. However, there is a (not-so-cold) fridge, microwave, stove and blender. There is a small store right across of the property. Good to buy water and beer for half price since there is no filtered water for guests, only bottled water. The place has a decent menu but food is prepared offsite. Food was good but the prices are about 60% more expensive than the menu listed on its website. The staff at the property is very pleasant. If it were not for the drunks and party music, I would rate this place a 9 or 10.
Cons: This place is popular with day visitor Nicas because you can bring your own food/drink. Each Nica group brings in its own massive boombox. Mid morning, there's a whole bunch of drunk people and the music gets unbearably loud and obnoxious with multiple speakers blasting different music at max volume. This is as loud as the party strip on the Calzada in Granada. It truly destroys the entire experience and I am surprised this is allowed in a nature reserve. When kayaking, several hundred yards out on the lake you can still hear it. One group managed to haul their sound system onto the swimming platform. I had visited this place once in the weekend and I thought this was only during the weekend. However, on a non-holiday Mon-Tue, the same happened. We visited Paradiso next door on the same trip and you will not have that happening there.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wake up with the sounds of nature. Birds, monkeys... Beautiful atmosphere, magic place
Cons: The bar is open only from 8 am to 6 pm, so if you want to eat later you have to go else where
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really the best place
7.0 Good
Pros: Next to lake
Cons: Bed small
7.1 Good
Pros: Right on the clear refreshing (but not cold) water of Lago Apoyo. Beautiful setting surrounded by nature. Nice outdoor bar and plenty of places to hang out. Morning coffee always ready. A few groups arrive during the day to enjoy the facility but are gone by 5. Always quiet at night.
Cons: I recommend you get to bed early because nature is up and at it by 4:30am. You’ll get used to it. There is no A/C, but the nights are cool with a breeze. I wish I could have channeled the breeze thru our room which would get stuffy at night. We eventually left or room door open to the open breeze way outside our room.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed the location and the view. Stayed in the tent and the bed was super comfortable. Quiet location, great for couples.
Cons: The parking area is a little tight and the chairs, hammocks and loungers were dirty so we did. It enjoy them as we wanted.. Drinking water is not available between 6:30 pm and 0800 am.
7.0 Good
Pros: The room was cozy. The AC was cold. The staff was attentive. Our food was quickly prepared and served.
Cons: The shower backfilled with black water on our last morning there. The beach access is small when compared to other places. The prices for drinks and food are a bit high for what you get especially when compared to other places in the Laguna. I would suggest not booking on a weekend if you want privacy. The day-pass visitors take over on the weekends.
7.0 Good
Pros: Location, lake, staff and meeting local families
Cons: Shower tap kept leaking, towels were cleaned but had stains and there aren’t enough loungers.
7.0 Good
Pros: Excellent view and swim area
Cons: Showers and toilets weren't very clean. Other areas were well maintained.
7.5 Good
Pros: Outdoor and the place was excellent
Cons: NA
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Its tranquil and quite, great place to rest
Cons: No pool and the one on the picture is extremely small and restricted for a cabin rental. the place is simple, nothing else to do other than stay in your cabin.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: This place was absolutely stunning. The cabins themselves are spacious and fully furnished with everything you need to be self-sustained. Very clean too. Now the views... Are truly amazing. It overlooks the mountains, volcanos and lagoon, which are breathtaking. It feels as though you have them all to yourself. Location is great too, right on the highway between Managua and Masaya. Highly recommended for all kinds of travelers who are willing to trade some luxury for a truly unique experience.
Cons: The only thing that is worth warning is that there is not always hot water available for showering. I took this as part of the experience and didn't really mind, but I'm sure you can ask about the schedule and plan accordingly.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The view! ! The apartment was very well organised. You could easily stay there for more nights, if you have your own transport.
Cons: The swimming pool.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The people here went above and beyond for us, they always got back to my e-mails quickly and were so helpful. The room was much nicer than we were expecting, such good value for money. We had a beautiful view over the lagoon and we had a lovely evening sitting on our balcony looking at the view. It's so silent and peaceful there especially considering how close to a main road you are! I can't fault these people and would recommend it to anyone.
Cons: The road outside the place is very busy and doesn't have a pavement, so you can't really walk anywhere. Taxis are pretty common though, just make sure you decide on a price before you get in!
6.7 Good
Pros: View, great size, comfortable, relaxed setting, location nearby many points of touristic interest
Cons: Owners don’t speak a word English, but that would be still ok. The location was horrible, as it’s located just next to main and very frequented road (I didn’t have an idea it’s such a big and noisy road, my bad), so I couldn’t sleep most of the night because of traffic noice. Airconditioning too loud too. And water waste was extremely stinking quite often. It has just devaluated the pretty property with such astonishing views, sorry:(

Featured amenities include a 24-hour front desk, multilingual staff, and luggage storage. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
5.8 Okay
Pros: This is an exceptional location. The view is amazing and there is everything on site to make your stay enjoyable.
Cons: This place is ran to make money. They are cutting on quality and maintenance of infrastructure. An all inclusive place with only one choice of meal (and only one service, i.e. no appetizers, no desert, ect.) is in my mind not acceptable. Also, quality of food is only acceptable, not great at all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the expansive and remote location and our Casita was entirely comfortable. I especially loved the beds and soft pillows which ensured a good night's rest. The staff was awesome seeing to our every need and cooking homemade meals for us. Truly loved the entire layout and comfort. I will definitely be returning.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view overlooking the laguna. Monkeys over our room. Spectacular sunrises!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent staff. Amazing location. Room was clean and the view was excellent.. Breakfast every morning was great with super tasty fruit salad.
Cons: Could use a bit of maintenance. Some of the wall outlets were loose. Cracked boards on the deck.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: My room and the location were amazing. The cleanliness of the room was perfect. All staff was friendly. Would stay again.
Cons: Steps to get down to the lagoon could be better taken care of as they are a bit dangerous on the way down. But worth it once down there.
6.0 Good
Pros: The staff is very friendly, they try to compensate for the shortcomings of the property. I was going to leave early, but the staff made every effort to make me stay with their amicable personalities & great service.
Cons: Stayed at Bali and the toilet would not work, flush down. I had to fill waste basket with water to aid the flush. The sink leaked on the bottom. The staff sent someone to repair but the problem is constant.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The location is great. The view on the lake was Amazing.
Cons: The hotel in general is in a bad condition. The rooms are spacious and (used to be) very nice, but the hygiëne is poor and it looks ramshackle. The service on the reception was bad. There was a Guy who continiously Told me that my questions are going to take 5 minutes. Then things never happened. Disapointing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location. Nice little beach with paddle boards and kayaks. Food it good at the restaurant. Helpful staff that can arrange anything for you. Easy to find. Good value for area.
Cons: The beach bar wasn't set up yet. Other than that everything was as expected

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast in the morning was great. Very nice views from the trails bordering the property especially at the edge of the drop off. In April it's still the dry season therefore the leaf cover of many of the forest trees isn't complete. In a month or two the place would have been a lot greener and more lush, but the setting is still beautiful. Views of Masaya volcano to the left and the lake to the right. The only thing I didn't like was that to get wi-fi one has to walk to the restaurant area, the cabins don't have wi-fi, or at least the one i had didn't. You could find yourself being the only guest there on a weekday, so make sure to tell them to turn the lights on to illuminate the trail at night when walking between the cabin and the restaurant, otherwise you could get lost. Birds were very active early in the morning, although they were all common bird species seen elsewhere in Nicaragua. I guess more species come when the forest turns greener with the rainy season.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in Cabin 2 for two nights. The views from the cabin’s porch were beautiful, such a treat to sit out in a rocking chair with the Lago de Masaya below you and the Volcán in the distance. You can stroll down to the lake’s edge (via the road) in about 30 mins. The grounds and amenities were bigger and more impressive than I’d imagined when I booked – we enjoyed strolling the trails, spotting birds; and used the pool too (can spot birds from there as well!!). The food is really delicious and very reasonably priced – there’s no sense of being a captive audience here! In fact it’s easy enough to get to and from Masatepe, either by tuk tuk (a couple of dollars); or to take a lift from one of the hosts. Our hosts were exceptional – we were made to feel so welcome by every staff member we encountered. In short, book! Stay at Flor de Pochote! I really lost my heart to this place.
Cons: Could fault nothing.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful setting, quaint cabin with beautiful view, nice trails, friendly staff.
Cons: Steps and look out points not well maintained. We were the only guests there so a bit eire and activities like horseback riding, climbing and canopy not available. Nobody to ask about plants and bord life!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, staff, activities
Cons: /

Pros: The coffee was the best we tried in Nicaragua as well as gallo pinto. The hotel is located on the main street and is close to squares and cafes. Big supermarket is nearby. It was clean, comfortable (plates, kitchenware and a fridge), and very cheap.
Cons: Rooms need mosquito net. And a kettle for boiling water...

Pros: Nice big room and private bathroom. Cool that we can use the kitchen.
Cons: The staff, except for the woman serving breakfast, who seemed to be the only one willing to work and interact with the clients
6.0 Good
Pros: The room was clean. The staff was helpful and kind.
Cons: The kitchen could have been much cleaner and we opted not to have the complimentary breakfast. The pillow was absolutely terrible and the bed was uncomfortable. A ceiling fan wasn’t enough. Could have used a real fan.

5.4 Okay
Pros: View is amazing. Rooms are lovely and showers great.
Cons: Service was very very bad and overall a very disappointing stay, which is a shame as there is a lot of potential here. Restaurant and bar: Slow at bar and restaurant despite it not being busy at all eg had to ask for something four times. Menu wasn’t great considering where the hotel classes itself. Check in/check out: Despite being not very busy staff stuck to an earliest possible check in time of 2pm, so we went elsewhere for a few hours (in complete contrast to other properties we stayed in). Check out took an hour as the bill was wrong and they had tried to overcharge us for certain things. Staff member was passing blame on to other staff members when it was her who had made the error. Room: Room was lovely and view was incredible. However when we tried to order wine to our room we were told they didn’t have any - only to be able to order it when we went for dinner an hour later. Pool: Pool was nice but on Sunday it wasn’t very relaxing as it was a ‘Sunday funday’ so about ten kids splashing around. When staying at somewhere that calls itself a lodge and spa I was expecting to be able to have a relaxing holiday.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very secure gated property, which gave us good peace of mind. Just a 2-3 minute walk from the Masaya markets. Nice big room that was very clean, nice breakfast and an extremely helpful gentleman on the front desk. They also provided secure gated parking. Definitely recommend. Don't miss the Masaya volcano that is only a 10-15min drive from the property.
Cons: Nothing.
5.8 Okay
Cons: It wasn't possible to keep our big luggage in a safe place until 5 pm. 2pm was the maximum !!
7.0 Good
Pros: big bed, pretty decorations, nice pool, good breakfast
Cons: hot shower was intermittent
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good beds, all installation very clean and I feel safe.
7.0 Good
Pros: Comfortable small double bed. Lovely large en-suite and shower cubicle. Really nice towels.
Cons: Room was too cramped with a small double bed and a large single. During a heavy rain downpour, water was coming through the ceiling and falling into the shower. It was frightening knowing there were probably electrics in the ceiling. When I told the staff they were fully aware of the problem, but still put me in that room. The were workmen on site making a lot of noise and mess, but no compensation for that. Write up says “complimentary” breakfast, in fact it isn’t very good and quite expensive.
6.7 Good
Pros: Location is good and near food places and staffs very friendly and helpful.
