The 10 best hotels in Moncton

Discover the top hotels in Moncton, handpicked by local expert Kaitlyn McInnis.
Kaitlyn McInnis
November 12, 2024

New Brunswick has a reputation for being a drive-through province, but that idea is about as inaccurate as they come. These days, New Brunswick—and especially Moncton—has a burgeoning arts and culture scene and enough breweries and restaurants to keep you coming back for a second and third visit. Although Moncton is quickly earning a reputation as one of the coolest little-big-cities in Canada, it doesn’t have the same number of high-end or boutique hotels as, say, neighboring Montreal to the west or Halifax to the east. Still, there’s a pretty generous handful of well-rated and unique properties to choose from when visiting the biggest city in New Brunswick. Here's my pick of the 10 best hotels in Moncton, including everything from artsy boutique stays to convenient big-name brands right in the center of the city.

1.

Canvas Moncton, Tapestry Collection by Hilton

Address:

55 Queen Street

Price:

$103-$236/night

Despite being a big-name hotel brand, I love the Canvas Moncton Tapestry Collection by Hilton. The property is considered one of the best hotels in Moncton thanks to the fact it’s very artfully curated. Here you’ll find unique and somewhat whimsical decor and amenities that feel much more like a boutique hotel.

The on-site restaurant, Bar 55, is a great option if you don’t feel like wandering too far after checking in. It offers local craft beers as well as classic and creative bar snacks (be sure to try the pesto melt panini).

I also love that this property has such massive windows in the guestrooms and suites, offering floor-to-ceiling views of the Moncton skyline below. Most rooms have a balcony—perfect for a morning coffee or evening glass of wine.

2.

Chateau Moncton, Trademark Collection by Wyndham

Address:

100 Main Street

Price:

$37-$373/night

I’ll admit that the Chateau Moncton, Trademark Collection by Wyndham looks a teeny bit cheesy when you first pull up to the hotel. The faux-castle facade is a little dated, but it’s well worth looking past the first impression and giving this property a fair go.

The classic property is considered one of the best hotels in Moncton thanks to its excellent hospitality and stunning location on the banks of the Petitcodiac River (and its famous tidal bore). Ask for a room facing south if possible, so you can take advantage of the stunning natural splendor of the river below.

It’s also worth noting that Chateau Moncton is just steps away from the center of town, which allows you to easily explore Main Street on foot.

3.

Four Points by Sheraton Moncton

Address:

40 Lady Ada Boulevard

Price:

$91-$296/night

I checked into the Four Points by Sheraton Moncton when I was traveling with family members and really appreciated the unique layout of the guestrooms. This made it very comfortable to share a single room with multiple people, as the living room (with a pull-out bed) and bedroom are separated by a door.

It was easy for multiple couples or family members to sleep well without having to book a second room, making this one of the best hotels in Moncton for families.

The Four Points isn’t in the center of town, so it’s not as convenient for those traveling on foot, but if you have a car you’ll appreciate the ample parking spaces and quiet residential area. It’s also worth noting there’s an on-site restaurant, Sophia & Spritz (try the seafood lasagna).

4.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Moncton

Address:

777 Mapleton Drive

Price:

$83-$347/night

The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Moncton is another one of those hotels that’s more convenient for families and drivers than it is for folks hoping to explore on foot. The property isn’t exactly in the city center, but it offers a quiet environment that’s very conducive to getting a good night’s sleep. It can be a great place to stop and rest during a road trip or while traveling with little ones.

The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Moncton is one of the best hotels in Moncton if you’re looking for a good price-to-quality ratio. It’s very well-rated thanks to its great hospitality, clean rooms, and excellent amenities, including a heated indoor pool, a gym, and free breakfast (sometimes you’ll even find free popcorn in the lobby too).

5.

Crowne Plaza Moncton Downtown

Address:

1005 Main Street

Price:

$87-$330/night
