Pros: Super nice owner, who built such a nice and qualitative guesthouse with the most epic rooftop terrace view ever. The rooms looked great and made us feel comfortable the whole stay. You get the best selfmade breakfast and Dinner you can imagine to a very cheap price (breakfast included). The owner gave us a fair price for going to all the sights like Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa and so on. And he offers free rides to the close city center of Dambulla, so don’t be scared, backpackers ;)
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Very walm welcome by Api and his family. The hotel is more than nice ("Western" shower, AC, etc.) and the breakfast was great. The location is very good to do a trip to Sigiriya or the cave temple in Dambulla. Api was even so nice to drive me around and show me the area. I would stay there again anytime - best hotel in Sri Lanka.

Pros: Api, the owner of the Hotel, and bis Family are very nice and kind people. Our room was simple but nice and clean. There was alsways hot water and the wifi was very good - what you can‘t take for granted. We had a very nice Dinner and Breakfast. He also showed us really nice places in town where you can have typically Sri Lankan food which was really really good. It’s also possible to order non spicy :D. Api tries to make everything possible for you. He cares a lot for his guests. From Dambulla you can visit Sigirya, Pidurangala and some National Parks. He brought us with his Tuk Tuk to Pidurangala and kept our company while climbing up. On the top of the rock it turned out that he is also a very professional photographer :D. He helped us planing the Next days of our trip and recommended a Hotel and some Nice places im Ella. We definitely would book it again - also because of his cuddly pets! Bests regards from both of the Kathis!

Pros: The best hosts ever. We have never met so nice and helpful people in Srí Lanka. Apartment located in a very nice garden near lake. Location may be reason not to take this apartment for someone. But our host was able to take us anywhere by tuk tuk and we appreciated not to be in the center of Dambulla. Fresh juice as a welcome gift. Please support them in their business, they deserve it :).

Pros: Absolute must go stay here if in Dambulla! We were recommended by friends and I’m so glad they did. The room was huge, excellent mosquito net, great bathroom (best shower I’ve had in Sri Lanka) and even had a fridge and kettle in the room! Massive breakfast included too, and the hosts were out of this word. Thank you!
Cons: Honestly couldn’t fault it, definitely don’t need to stay longer than a couple of nights in Dambulla but if you do, stay here!

Pros: It’s one of our best stay during our 3-week trip in Sri Lanka. After the first night at Ama’s place, we decided to extend for 2 nights extra. In addition to the clean and very spacious and well equipped room, we were taken very good care by Ama during our stay. She always gave the wise advice for visiting the good places around. A fine local restaurant and supermarket are both just 2mins walk. Super location!
Cons: None

Pros: Good breakfast and very close to city center. Mango Mango restaurant is across the street.
Cons: When we arrive to check in the host made us feel very uncomfortable as the dri er tried to ask us to pay 3 time s more the price to go to Sigyria next day in the morning. The room was ok but not too clean. We stayed at cleaner places in Sri Lanka for the same money.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: You will be welcomed with a tasty cup of tea in one of the best guest house you will be able to find in Sri Lanka, from a friendly family always ready to help you. The spacious room I got was more than a good value for money, so clean that you could eat on the floor with all kinds of facilities : shower kit, tea and coffee, fridge... and the area is very calm and relax, 2 minutes walking distance from the main road. The breakfast is delicious and will for sure help you to start your day the best way you can : toasts, tea, coffee, yogurt, mineral water, omelette, and homemade typical Sri Lankan pancakes or some other dishes. They also have a taxi service if you need to go around Dambulla to discover the surroundings (fair prices). I can only recommend to stay there. You couldn’t find any negative point even if you were looking for it and it will for sure exceed all your expectations.

Pros: The green edge was probably the best place we stayed at during our trip around Sri Lanka, the staff were so helpful and accommodating. We took a day trip out with Colin in their TukTuk to Sigiriya & Polonnaruwa for a VERY reasonable price. We also went to the Dambulla cave temples and stopped at the market on the way back. Food and Drink was excellent and the atmosphere was peaceful and calm. We were collected from Colombo (prior arrangement via email) and everything about the stay was perfect. The entire time that we stayed tea, water etc. was provided and they even helped us with our washing. we will definitely be returning here and would recommend this homestay to anyone looking for a calm and lovely place to stay on your travels in Sri Lanka. The Bed was comfy, rooms were clean and shower was hot!

Pros: The service was excellent - Colin was very helpful, attentive and accomodated all our requests with a smile! The room was cute and spacious. The breakfast was simple yet excellent, and ready at precisely the time we had agreed upon. They even organized an impromptu dinner for us, consisting of roti chicken, which was really lovely.
Cons: Quite a lot of mosquitos (like everywhere else) but the staff constantly lit mosquito-repelling incense so it was manageable!

Pros: It was so clean and it's located in a nice place. Our room was big and there were enough facilities. Breakfast was perfect, a plate whit many delicious fruits and egg fried.
Cons: It just a little far from the main street and when we arrived there was too late, so the way was dark and first my cousin feels bad but it was safe and the day after we found a beautiful view
7.1 Good
Pros: Organised a tuktuk for us to get around the sites, very helpful driver (hotel manager) stopped to show us everything. Breakfast was fantastic, mountains of fresh fruit and local bread and egg.
Cons: Hot water didn't work on the first room but the staff were lovely and moved us to the room next door. The sink in the bathroom was not plumbed so it ran straight on to the floor.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent, helpful staff who thought with us for a plan to make the most of our stay in Dambulla/Sirigiya. Great value.
Cons: A bit far away from the main road.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food was amazing, so much and so tasty. The area was very lovely for somewhere so close to the main road but was quiet. Comfy bed, ok shower. Would be great as a base for Sigiriya etc.
Cons: Id be pretty fussy to find something wrong here.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best place I stayed at Sri Lanka. Everything was perfectly clean, and the staff extremly kind and helpful. The manager was there all the time to help with any question and he provided me excellent helpful tips for the rest of my trip. I ended up staying longer than planned because I really enjoyed staying there. Very peaceful place, yet you can also meet others staying there if you wish. Location is very good as well, away from noise and traffic but still walking distance from dambulla town, shops and bus stop. Great wi fi.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was one of the nicest places I stayed at during my 3 weeks in Sri Lanka. And the food was decidedly the best I had! The hotel was a true oasis in noisy and polluted Dambulla, and I even ended up extending my stay because the hotel was so relaxing, not because of Dambulla itself. The city is not worth seeing besides the cave temples (amazing!), but it’s a good base for climbing Sigiriya and going on a safari to see wild elephants (amazing too!) Peacock Resort is only a couple of minutes driving from the main street, yet it feels like being in the countryside. There are actually peacocks around, and if you wake up around 6 am, you can even be lucky to spot them with their feathers out! I also loved to listen to the rich bird life. The hotel consists of a two-floor building housing the restaurant on the ground floor and the budget rooms upstairs, and one newer building where most of the rooms are located, all of which have a private terrace or balcony. Both buildings face a well-maintained garden with plants and a nice outdoor seating area for the restaurant. I stayed in one of their few budget rooms (above the restaurant) which was excellent value. Eventhough the rooms don’t have a private balcony or terrace, there was a big balcony right outside the room. It’s also possible to order food from the restaurant here. The room itself was very nice; clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. I loved the peacock pillow and bedcover! There was no ac, but the strong fan was absolutely sufficient enough. As already mentioned, the food was amazing! Both breakfast (I already miss the lavish fruit plates..) And dinner! The menu changes every day. I can highly recommend to have dinner here! The staff was also very friendly - everyone from the owner to the cleaners. Especially Bandara was so kind and friendly! He was a true find, and helped me with everything!
Cons: It doesn’t have anything to do with the hotel directly, but they did arrange a safari for me. The agreement was that it should last for approximately 3 hours inside the park. However, after only a little more than one hour, after driving a long way away from the elephants, we hit the main road. First then I realized that the driver had actually decided that the tour was finished! He spoke very limited English, but I managed to explain that I was not satisfied, and he returned to the park. But it was a long way back and in total we wasted around 20 minutes. When we came back to the elephants, I recognized the face of some other tourists who had entered the park at the same time as me. They were still there.. I also noticed a small hill/viewpoint with a small tower one can climb. It seemed to be almost compulsory to end the safari there - why hadn’t my driver offer me this..? Eventhough we returned to the park, this destroyed the experience somehow, and it was very disappointing because I had been looking forward to spending a few hours there, not only a quick visit. It was also very expensive to cover the costs alone so at least I wanted full advantage of my money spent.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was brilliant value for money. The room itself was lovely, had everything you needed. The location was walking distance to the town and main bus station.
Cons: The road you had to walk down to get to the resort was very dark so bare that in mind and make sure you have your phone to use the flashlight if you will be walking to the resort in the dark.

Pros: Chathuri is a Very helpful and nice person. She helped us to arrange our trip to sigyria and to national park. Also helped us to book seat on the bus to Kandy. Excellent dinner and breakfast. Bus from Kandy stopped just next to the accomodation.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The owner was absolutely brilliant. She helped us to hire a scooter and then arranged tickets for bus to Kandy. The food was delicious - especially breakfast pancakes
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location is perfect for Dambulla Caves - they are an easy walking distance. And the host family are so welcoming, full of smiles and very kind. Chathuri was so helpful cooking me dinner when I arrived tired and told me all the info I needed. They really are a sweet family. The room is functional and has what you need for the stay.
Cons: Because of its great location the property is off the main road, so if you’re a light sleeper bring earplugs as you do get traffic noise. Due to the crazy monsoon rain the ceiling leaked a little in one place, but it was only a few drops so was all fine.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The locati.on was convenient for the nearby cave paintings. The family was friendly and helpful.
Cons: The photograph showed a seating area on a verandah, this turned out to be the family's home area and unavailable, also facing onto a very busy road, which was disappointing. Dinner was disappointing and not good value. There was no top sheet and as air conditioning was essential, it was not very comfortable - I only stayed one night although I booked (and paid) for two.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely wonderful hosts! Rukshan and his wife helped me plan my trip to the nearby attractions, got me discounted prices as I was traveling off season and had no company, and even accepted lesser prices than they had advertised! Best homestay I have stayed in.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The best place you can book in Dambulla! Amazing atmosphere and lovely owners. Delicious food, prepered by the owner herself. They helped us to arrange safari and other activities, even stopped the buses for us in front of their house. PS We hope that you already tried our polish gift ;)

Cons: It is very near to the temple, but a bit far away from the bus station and the center. We got driven there, so it was no problem.

Pros: Highly recommended for those who love nature and adventure:)) The staff was very helpful and kind. The local breakfast was the BEST!! Will definitely come back!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very beautiful place in the middle of mango trees, very clean, well equipped, fresh mango juice as a welcome drink, great sleeping experience (animal noises), lovely family (offers rides to temples and to sigiriya rock -> should be considered in the tip), best breakfast we had (dal, string hoppers, chicken curry, fresh fruit, tea)
Cons: Nothing
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The owner, she was so lovely, so sweet, so friendly and intelligent lady. She made for us breakfast and every time was different. Every time she explain what it is and how she made. Food was really tasty and yammy. Every evening she welcomes us with fresh organic juices. They tried to sort out with wi-fi, but unfortunately wasn’t successful. I am sure is definitely not them fault, that is provide problems and everywhere was similar in Sri Lanka I am really highly recommending to everyone who likes tree house, wild life and nice food
Cons: I like everything
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It is a house 4m above group in the middle of a mango grove. When the lights are out you see only trees illuminated by the moon. In the first moment it was a little bit scary. But then i went to sleep surrounded by fireflys and woke up to sunshine on my nose and birds calling me awake. The breakfast is great. Your hostess asks you in advance what you (not)like. Not spicy/vegetarian? No problem. Keep in mind this is a home stay, so the standards your hosts set to themselves is much higher than a hotel. You get extra water and i got the impression lunch is included as well. I'm not a big lunch person, so i declined, but they didn't let me go without a big plate of fruit and extra water and tea. I came without a car and they even droped me in town and brought me to Sigiriya and back.
Cons: Keep in mind it is a Treehouse. It's practically build like a very stable tent with big flaps left and right. You will always have a few leafes on the ground, there will always be a little dust. You may even find a bird half a meter next to you, a small lizard on the wall or a bug in the shower. But there are no monkeys and the squirrels are too shy to go into the house. In my mind that's not really bad, but you should be prepared.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It was an interesting experience up there in the tree with only the sounds of nature. The staff was very kind and made delicious Sri Lankan breakfast.
Cons: NA
6.7 Good
Pros: Very good natural environmnet, excellent hospitality, good breakfast ..people who love to spend time in calm nature, away from city life..this place is best...it's like a being in a jungle....
Cons: Need to improve amenities in bathroom...

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful accommodation, beautifully designed and in the middle of a natural reserve.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing property. Architecture of each room is unique and great focus on nature with animal conservation areas within the property! Very large area for just a few rooms. Surprisingly close to Dambulla. Felt like you were deep in rural Sri lanka when you were in fact only 15 minutes away from the nearest town
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Incredible location, feels completely isolated but is close enough to the main sights around Dambulla. Lovely staff!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: A unique hotel with a wonderful setting, surrounded by nature (and tasteful architecture to fit in). Food was excellent (we had the rice and curry twice and there were so many great dishes that we couldn't even finish it despite stuffing ourselves) and staff were very attentive (although possibly helped by the fact that there weren't many other guests at the time - apparently there were some cancellations.)
Cons: We wish there had been more vegetarian options on the menu. Although it was of course possible to modify existing options, why not give more choices in the first place? Especially odd given the ethos of the place, with many vegetables grown on the property and the fact veggie food is so prevalent elsewhere in Sri Lanka.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Wow - could not have imagined a more incredible experience. This will go down as one of our most memorable (and favourite) hotels EVER. From the moment you arrive you are surrounded by nature, and all the "busy-ness" of modern life gets left at the gate. It was just what we needed! We stayed in one of the new 2 person chalets, and it was worth every bit extra. We had monkeys and birds waking us in the morning, which was just such a treat. We spent hours exploring the grounds, kayaking, swimming - surprisingly we didn't feel the need to leave the Retreat at all. If you are thinking about booking - do it.. you won't regret it!
Cons: The only suggestion would be that the dinner options could better reflect the quality of the retreat, the Sri Lankan banquet was wonderful - however, the other dinner options could have been better. (They were nice - just could take the experience to a whole new level!)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great resort, extremely nice staff, really helpful. Beautiful pool...Very good place for bird-watching!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Everything about the resort was really nice. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Food was absolutely delicious. I recieved an upgrade to a chalet on half board basis upon arrival, which was a great pleasure. I also got a complimentary kayaking down the stream, and a bird watching tour around the property. The location is breathtakingly beautiful. Nature surrounds you from everywhere. I even had few peacocks walking right outside my room. The mountain view from the bed was so beautiful. A definetely worth stay for a serene time. Good for a nature lover.
Cons: The seat covers in the lobby area, inside the chalet and some towels in the room were all clean, but had a lot of old stain marks and spots which was a little put off for me. Also, the jaccuzi was not in useable condition. It was properly cleaned but being amidst nature, it naturally gets filled wid dead leaves and small bugs making it inconvenient to use.

Pros: Lovely setting, such a beautiful spot and so quiet. Our room was spotlessly clean and Tesa looked after us brilliantly. We arrived on the day of the bombing’s and couldn’t go out to eat, so Tesa very kindly provided a delicious meal cooked by his wife. We had a fantastic time all things considering. We would highly recommend staying here.
Cons: Nothing to report
5.0 Okay
Pros: Nothing...
Cons: Is this place for real, it felt like a scam!!! It should not be listed on a reputable booking site. There was no discussion about cooking classes. Every time we mentioned it they said there was no vegetables, which was a lie as in town they had vegetables and the market was open... No cooking happened!!! This place is a line of rooms way out of town in a skinny block that has Neighbours really close that keep animals chained all the time, they cry for hours on end the poor souls. The are never around so if you need any assistance, good luck, you are on your own in the middle of no where!! It is basic accommodation which isn’t a problem, the problem is that it’s a total scam!!! You are taken to an out of the way area and just left. They guy and his brother are nice enough as long as you need a tuk tuk and if they are around. They lied to us and said we would do cooking but then they disappeared. As we couldn’t get a tuk tuk to get into town (we called a few) as we were far out we had to navigate fast food take away, to a cooking resort!!! If they think this is hospitality, or a tourist stay that offers activities such as what is mentioned in the business title, cooking! Then they are totally deluded!! If I had known it was a dump and run, then I wouldn’t have booked. Did not one bit of cooking!!! And it’s marketed as a cooking lesson experience place!!!! Do not book this! Run a mile.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Tuk tuk picked us up from Dambulla town and dropped us back in to catch the bus free of charge as advertised. Tissa was, I think, the bosses brother, who was our host. He did the best he could including making us a nice breakfast and making sure we had plenty of water.
Cons: I feel like I wasted time staying here. Wi-Fi had not been paid and then when it was connected had to keep signing in to it. The ' boss ' was very interested in getting us to do tours. Be aware. Supposed to get free cooking classes included but we did not. On the second night when they had told us we would cook dinner at 530pm and we waited and waited, then I called the owner at around who 7pm said there were no shops open to buy fruit and veggies, but I saw many vegetables stalls open plus the massive vegetable market was in full swing. He said no madam you can go and get rice and curry take away. Bear in mind this place is in the middle of nowhere and we were unable to find a number for a tuk tuk to pick us up. It took the best part of an hour to try and contact pizza hut to see if they would deliver and if they could even find the place! I couldn't get out of here quick enough!!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Cooking class was really good and tasty. The accommodation is set far away from the busy roads in a lovely garden with birds and butterflies. Good location to explore surrounding areas. Room was really nice with big bathroom.
Cons: Pillows were very uncomfortable for us unfortunately. They were very hard.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Outstanding hospitality, warm and friendly staff. Clean, quite place in a middle of tropical forest .
7.1 Good
Pros: Tissa, the man who works here as a host and gives the cooking lessons, is a very kind and friendly man, and the cooking lessons with him were a lovely experience.
Cons: The owner is very pushy to sell you trips or to stay longer. He promises different things like free return transport from the bus station, but there was no contact before to pick us up, and we only got dropped off there after 'fighting' about it. There is no wi-fi and cooking classes are not free. (In fact you pay 700 or 750 rupees and you cook your meal together with the staff.) There are no bycicles. Some false advertisement going on here.
7.9 Good
Pros: Cooking class, although we missed it because we were late for check-in. Nevertheless, we did a short session the next following day. The staff were friendly and quite approachable.
Cons: The location of the accommodation, not really convenient to get to the place, and it is located in a secluded place.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: A great spot, quiet & tranquil rural setting. Great to wake to birdsong. Host & staff welcoming and very friendly and happy to assist. Food prepared on site is a delicious treat. I used this as a base to explore the surrounding areas of Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa & Anuradhapura.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very good food, really quiet location and a very beautiful garden.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff are super helpful - Tissa and his wife were wonderful guides to Sri Lankan cooking. Quiet peaceful location
Cons: The ‘free transport’ from the bus stop is for pick up only, not drop off, so got caught by surprise with this. The owner trying to sell me on everything as soon as I arrived and getting annoyed when I made a different choice.

Pros: I bet you can't get a better place for this kind of money. The room was very clean, and spacious. No mosquitoes, as the owners keep a repellent in the rooms. If you stay here, have at least one meal (lunch or dinner) in the guesthouse. You just have to warn them up to an hour earlier and they will cook you a delicious, cheap meal. Breakfast is also very good and served at the time of your preference. The owner also has a tuktuk and is happy to take you were you want to.
Cons: Everything was over the expectation.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect stay, the best food we had so far in Sri Lanka! I really recommend this place.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The owners of this place are so lovely and welcoming. They go above and beyond to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. They own a tuk tuk and will happily help you get around for a very reasonable charge. Breakfast and lunch were very tasty with very fair portion sizes. In a slightly quieter part of town which we loved and it’s still very easy to get where you want to go.
Cons: My only grumble would be that the pillows were very hard, almost felt like they were made of sand but I guess this is personal preference.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Confortable and nice place. The owner is very friendly and they offer a rich breakfast. Please try also their delicious lunch or dinner.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Quiet location away from the noisy town centre, yet close to the informative Museum of Wall Paintings and the must-see Dambulla Caves exit. Very helpful and pleasant hosts. Roshan was exceptional in providing exactly the information we needed; free lifts to the distant Caves ticket office and nearby bus stop; and excellent value and safe tuk tuk transport to and from Sigiriya Rock. Very good breakfasts and dinners served on a pleasant balcony.
Cons: Typical basic guest house room with sparse furnishings. Badly leaking basin in our bathroom. (Note: The ticket office and entrance to the Dambulla Caves is now in an obscure, distant and uphill location which is much too far to walk to. Make sure to get a lift there, which our host cheerfully provided without asking.)
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The owners are very nice and so helpful. Breakfast was great and we found the location to be good.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Roshan was super helpful.
Cons: Would prefer hot water.

Pros: Breakfast was excellent. My son asked for sri lankan breakfast and this was provided with ease. Lovely seasoned fried eggs for myself and fresh fruit and coffee. Room was big and cool with ac and fan included in the cost. Dinner was offered at a reasonable cost. Hosts were very informative and helpful
Cons: Nothing.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very friendly from arrival. They provided a nice breakfast. And we're courteous
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a wonderful stay here!!! The husband and wife team running Lak were amazing! We had dinner here each of the three nights we stayed and it was some of the best food we had in Sri Lanka. Highly recommend.
Cons: Nothing loved it!!
