I stayed at the Boardwalk Inn, just me and my 8 yr old son. The room was plenty spacious, clean, and convenient to the beach. Plenty of options for eating if you don't want to leave the resort, but of course the food on-site is pricey, you are paying for convenience not necessarily excellent quality food. We had a great time and would stay there again. Parking is convenient and free which is nice. I used the valet service and found the valets to be very friendly and helpful. Everyone I encountered was very nice, friendly and helpful. We were there during the weekdays, so it wasn't overly crowded, but I had no problems checking in or out. I ordered room service for breakfast and it was always delivered in the timeframe requested. I used the resorts beach rental service for chair/umbrella to be set up on the beach and it was so nice and convenient not to have to lug my own stuff all over. Oh and fyi, you do not have to pack your own beach towels like I did, which take up space in the bags as they provide 1 per person and you can change it out anytime you want at several convenient locations. No complaints here! Had a great time and would stay there again.
Great location to the beach. Very secluded, so your eating options are very limited, primarily to restraruants at the resort only, which are all very overpriced. Everything there costs something. The 'free' valet and bell hop service are not actually free. Also costs money to play tennis, play golf, rent a bicycle, and even rent a beach chair.
The view was awesome. The room was beautiful. Everything you wanted while you were not at home was in this room. His and her sinks, large tub, washer and dryer. Did I mention a beautiful view! My husband and I were harassed by a gentleman at the gate who did not want to let us in and was rude. Prior we went in another gated entrance (wrong one) and the woman reacted negatively but was okay once we asked to just turn around. In addition the check in time is way too late! Eating options are limited and gratuity @ 20% along with delivery fees. In addition I believe I was bitten by a bedbug.
We traveled up for Spring Break, which I found out is a week earlier than South Carolina's spring break, me and me 9 and 10 year old daughters to visit my parents. The condo was amazing, way bigger and better than I could have imagined! Especially for the price! Next time I will bring more family! We stayed in the Raquet Club Villas, I absolutely loved the decor, and the attention to detail to make the stay comfortable. Providing the necessities with trash bags, pots and pans, laundry detergent etc. Especially that they tell you what all is provided before so you don't have to pack it and show up and see that you really could have packed those other cute shoes you wanted to bring, bug has to sacrifice the suitcase space for dawn dish soap ha! #girlproblems Everyone was super friendly, staff and even the people staying there too! I also really appreciate the extra security features at the gate, made me feel much more secure knowing the people at the gate were actually checking to make sure you actually were supposed to be there. Since I am a single mom with two young kids, it really meant a lot to me! So many times you see people at gates that just wave at you as you go through, I saw one review that didn't like that because maybe they didn't have the proper pass when they first got there. But before you arrive you get an email outlining all of that and there is an attachment that you have to print out that is your entrance to the gate, so I had no problem at all! Overall I was very impressed with the whole experience! Will definitely be back again! The only thing that I would maybe do differently next time is schedule a time when it's more of the prime season. We went on our spring break here in Oklahoma which is actually a week earlier than the schools there, so there was quite a bit of construction going on on the pavilion to the private beach area, couple pools were closed, etc. Which I totally understand it makes sense to do the maintenance repairs when it's an off season, that's good business sense. So really it was not doing my homework before hand. Or even if there was a schedule stating that these are our winter dates and hours etc. Or even if there was an indoor pool would have been fantastic. Another thing is the bike rentals are pretty steep on price, for me and my daughters to rent bikes for a day it was $80, I don't regret it though we had a blast! Also the island adventures place where you can get information on little excursions and carriage rides was closed on Tues and Weds, which I wish I would have known before hand because we would have stopped in on Monday, but with not knowing that we went and had dinner etc and then decided to go on wed only to find out they were closed and since we were flying out early Friday morning it only have us one day to set stuff up to do. To sum it up I think if there was a posting of hours and peak season times would help tremendously! But now I know for next time, and there will definetely be a next time!
everything was very clean and comfortable. the beach is nice and plenty to do in withh easy access no complaints
Extremely well maintained favility withbright, trained staff. Luxiry resort in premium location. Pooll ules need to be enforced by staff. Adults and k7ds playing football at beach pools, with hard leather footballs veey rude no concern for safety of other guests. Two or three towel staffers sitting at kiosks are not greatest use of personnel when they could, easily check pools and enforce states rules. Addingan adult only got fun near quiet pool would be great.
Excellent staff! Sent us a gift when they found out it was hubby's birthday.
Surprisingly large condo for the price. I will definitely be back with more family next time. This trip was a long weekend with just three of us. We had a great time with nearby activities and wandering through Charleston. The beach is beautiful. Charleston and Isle of Palms is sweet, southern charm meets the sand.
The two-bedroom condo was homey and comforting. We loved having a screened in porch that overlooked the marina. Perfect getaway! Beach was not easily accessible. We had trouble finding parking and where to access. Needed coffee filters for coffee pot.
The location and the beach are beautiful. Everything is in place for a fantastic resort. The staff was slow and unresponsive across the board. Took way too long for service at every single venue, no one worse than the other, as if this is the way they are instructed. The food products served were bland, expensive, and unattractive, yet priced as if they were prepared in a 5 star kitchen. The staff uniforms looked more like they worked in an Applebees than at a $300+ dollar a night resort. The signs and directions around the resort are difficult to follow if it is your first time there.
Easy access to beach, friendly staff. Bathroom was not properly cleaned. Had hairs on the shower. The boardwalk could use so maintenance, grass was overgrown. It was also very loud at night, couldn't get a good nights sleep. Overall was OK but I would not recommend, nor would I personally go back, not for the price of 250+ a night.
The desk clerk from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM was definitely the most accommodating and pleasant hotel employee I have ever met in my years and years of travel... before retiring, I traveled weekly, and she by far was the BEST I have ever had the pleasure to know... the owner of the hotel needs to hold on to this lady! Lack of comfortable room furniture with the exception of a comfortable bed...
We had no maid service for our entire stay!
Beach access. Could not see the beach from the room. No place to park. They advertise breakfast until 10 am but are out of food by 8. Room was noisy, dated, cramped, paint peeling, moldy. This is a room that would go for $25 if not on a beach. Next time, I will stay a coupleiles inland and just drive to the public beach parking lot, WHICH IS WHERE YOU HAVE TO PARK ANYWAY.
The beds were comfortable, the TV was nice (got a lot of channels too, but I never turned it on other than to see how many channels it got), the free breakfast was good, and the room had a mini fridge (with a little freezer compartment) and coffee maker and microwave. I only stayed two nights, but the second night I was awoken by a cockroach in my bed at 4:45ish AM. As I was turning from my right side to left and my left hand was sliding under my pillow, I felt a tingling sensation that made me half way wake up. When I opened my eyes there was a cockroach inches from my face running away from me towards the edge of the bed. I jumped up and freaked out. I tried to find it but couldn't. I tried to calm down and go back to sleep but couldn't. The room was only so big and there were only so many places it could go. Just when I was almost relaxed enough to fall back to sleep I thought, "What if it just ends up right back in the bed again?" So I got up and went out. When I came back hours later there was a seemingly dead cockroach on the floor in front of my bed, so I took pictures. I told the girls at the desk at checkout, and showed them the pictures, but they just said that sometimes that happens when it rains and that they would check the weather stripping on the door. But the weather stripping on the bottom of all the doors (other than the beach front rooms that have sliding glass doors) is some kind of brush looking thing that isn't very thick, so it seems to me like it wouldn't be very difficult for something to get through again. I'm a reasonable person, and I gave them the benefit of the doubt and assumed it was a freak accident, but they still could have been more apologetic. They didn't offer to comp the room or even wave the $5 a night parking fee. You shouldn't have to be a jerk to be offered restitution when you tell someone something like that has happened.
location. Bathrooms are way outdated.
TOO EXPENSIVE IN SEASON FOR THE QUALITY OF THE ROOMS. GOOD VALUE IN THE OFF SEASON, HOWEVER.
Close to the ocean Room was a little amall
Location was great. Access to the beach was very nice. Construction materials were scattered around everywhere and the room had a very odd smell. Everything appeared clean but very worn. Saw more than one roach in room and at the building. Only stayed 2 nights and that was enough.
The location was great. We had an ocean-view room on the 3rd floor so it was an ideal spot. The hotel is a little run-down and could use sprucing up. We had to go under the hotel to get to the beach access ramp and walking through it was uninviting - there was litter everywhere and the hotel never bothered to clean it. Also, there were no showers or faucets to rinse off the sand.
Location, right in the heart of Isle of Palms, on the beach. Management staff was very friendly and eager to help. Door did not shut all the way unless you slammed it. Maid left ours not completly closed. Noticed other doors the same way. Maids need more training and motivation -- did not dust, little things.
The location is beyond excellent. The hotel has tremendous potential to be a cash cow, simply due to the location!! It is in bad need of repair. It's dirty. Although the front desk staff was excellent, the housekeeping staff was poor, at best, and non-existent, at worst. It is roach infested. At the price, it would be an excellent spot for young families on a tight budget. However, it's too dirty to bring small children into.
Awesome view from the balcony! The front desk staff were rude and seemed put out to ask for small things like fresh towels, check out, and trash removal. Seaside inn is just as nice and the staff are really friendly
good location They upgraded our room because they didn't have the original room we booked upon arrival. We were staying 5 days. after two days they kicked us out of the upgraded room and moved us to a room half the size saying that the room they upgraded us to was already booked beyond our current stay. This put a damper on the remainder of our stay at the hotel due to the room being a little too small for two people Also the other guest in the hotel that had business meetings were very rude and arrogant and continually blocked the top of the stairways coming up to the main lobby.
The Frances Marion is to Charleston what the Peabody is to Memphis, the Edwards is to Jackson, Miss., and the Reed House to Chattanooga. All are hotel with history and character. More than that, all the staff at the Frances Marion could not have been nicer. Liked it all.
The hotel was in a good location. The Bell staff was exceptional Check in was a breeze. Rooms were clean but a bit older. Older small bathroom A/C that made loud noises randomly. This is not a modern hotel...but that's not all bad.
I loved the location of the hotel, close to everything and just off King Street, the best shopping in the city. The rooms were spacious and clean, and hotel seems to accommodate a lot of people. The Swamp Fox restaurant was very good for breakfast. A wide variety on the menu with a Starbucks just outside of in, still in the hotel. The hotel is very noisy at night due to screaming and honking of horns on the main road-and I was on the 7th floor. I wish the hotel had a free continental breakfast and that you did not have to walk a block to get to the hotel parking, which is the city garage.
Very good location, convenient to all downtown activities and historic features, clean, traditional atmosphere, courteous staff, reasonably priced, built-in restaurant and very interesting and sociable host with a foreign accent. January 5 was a cold night and the room was chilly with no extra blankets, and the thermostat didn't seem to help. The cost for parking in the adjacent garage seems a bit excessive two half days and one night $17. Kind of like the golf course with $5 green fees and $50 golf balls.
The beds were so comfortable and cozy and we did not hear any of the traffic on King Street on the 10th floor. It was very clean and our view was great. Could not beat the ideal location in Charleston plus a great parking garage. Very nice staff and overall it was a great experience. I will book again very soon. The bathroom we had was very small and reminded me of a cruise ship but we were only there for two nights so it was not a big deal with my daughter.
Friendly staff Paying for parking, no coffee in lobby, no free breakfast
Clean, large room and lobby. Friendly staff. Front desk didn't text me as promised when room was ready, but otherwise ok.
The hotel is dated and worn out. The rooms are small and very old. The bathroom is only large enough for one person and the plumbing is ancient. The hotel is overpriced for what you get. The manager was not at all accommodating when we didn't get the type of room we booked. I would never stay at this hotel again.
Great location, great staff, clean gym.Nice room but bathroom is on the small side, very comfortable bed and pillows.great charming lounge with great bartender.restuarant has good breakfast at a reasonable price.First time we've stayed down this end of king st, it won't be our last.Been coming to charleston for 25 years, you can't beat this hotel for the price!
Bedding was comfortable and overall furnishings were updated Small Bathroom
Rooms clean, large and well furnished. Staff was great, from the bellman to the valet to the front desk. Starbucks in lower lobby a nice feature. Hallways have some deferred maintenance.
Ken, on the Club Floor always provides incredible service. He makes your stay! Frank is no longer there. You will not find a better location, or staff on the hotel side. The spa service is sub-standard, and over-priced. Therapists were not attentive to requests, and hearing complaints about their job because they didn't receive benefits, was unsettling. Urban Nirvana in Charleston offers the best service. Consider opting for their spa at Wentworth Mansion. The service and value trump Charleston Place, any day. Also the spa charged a 20% tip without notifying me, and overcharged for the services rendered. The spa therapists aren't Belmond Charleston Place employees, and are quick in letting you know that.
The hotel is in a great location. Minutes away from the Market and all the top restaurants. It is on the Main Street with all of Charleston's shops. The hotel also has a great bar with piano music and if you would like something more casual, there is a fun sports bar. In addition,he hotel has a beautiful upscale restaurant
Spa needs help !
Every item in the room was first rate and luxurious. The traffic noise was very loud throughout the night
Southern elegance at it's best. We had to leave.
Enjoyed the ambience and attention of staff. Excellent gym and spa area. Perfect location for shopping and dining. Lack of in room movies.
Location is the best thing about this hotel. Valet very disorganized and never anticipating peak times, Had to take my luggage to my room myself.... Over priced for the service or lack of service
Beautiful facility. Rooms were clean and spacious. Staff was excellent and friendly. Perfect location. Repeated air conditioning problems in our room.
Our room was on the top floor and absolutely gorgeous from the room itself to the bathroom to the breathtaking view! It was perfect and exceeded my expectations! There was nothing not to like! I'd stay there again and again!
Right near shops of King St Home of Charleston Grill, a top 5 dining experience for us Fine luxury throughout hotel Can seem a bit stuffy depending on clientele, but that's who it's for
The rooms was beautiful and completely decked out. The staff was kind, curious, willing to help, and helped us coordinate between my girlfriend and I as we prepared in separate areas of town for a wedding I was in and needed to check in earlier. The room was extremely clean and the staff was extremely nice! No need to go to their bar or cafe, the prices of everything are unnecessarily high just because they are by luxury stores or something. They are $20 for everything, no lie. Do yourself a favor and go to any of the amazing restaurants in the area that you can more than easily walk to!
This hotel was beautiful. A rooftop pool, bar with outdoor patio, and excellent feature, this hotel was everything I had hoped for.
Everything was wonderful. N/A
Great Location Clean rooms Friendly Housekeeping staff Convenient Parking if not valet Great location to some excellent restaurants I would stay here again Restaurant and Bar in hotel I would not recommend Service poor, house wine limited and poor, do not waste your time there are excellent places right out the door No mooring coffee available in the lobby or at the bar. Was told it would be set up by 6am, but both days nothing between 530-700am
great location, great view of the riverfront, very friendly and accommodating staff paper coffee cups in room, walls were a little thin. the couple next to us were loud at all hours of the night. did not enjoy hearing them having sex!
The entire staff----everyone with whom we had any contact---they were all very helpful and anxious to please. The room was not very comfortable or easy to move around in . Bath was very outdated and not easy to use. Not very competitive or modern
Location Surprisingly the staff wasn't very friendly or helpful. They seems very aloof.
Not worth the price. Very expensive rooms
Small rooms, smaller bathrooms, no balconies, rooms badly need refurbished. Dingy looking. Not any nicer than a Super 8. It's conveniently located is the best that can be said for it, but at that price it's not worth it. Stay at the Wentworth instead, only a bit more for an actual luxury hotel.
Location was great! Nice staff, clean and pool was a great bonus :) Would have preferred a fridge in room but not totally necessary. We had a great time so really nothing negative!
I loved the complementary champagne, gorgeous pool surrounded by flowers & superb location. The friendly professional is very welcoming. The bathroom doors are sliding & did not give the feeling of full privacy. The room was not spacious but very comfortable.
We visit Charleston often and this was our first time staying at the Mills House. It was beautiful! We stayed overnight and loved the location, decor, and the cleanliness. We parked in the parking garage and access to the hotel was very easy. This will be a place that we come back to in our future visits to Charleston. Only small complaint I have was the pillows. They were fluffy until you laid on them, then they became flat and hard.
Excellent location in the historic area, exceptionally pleasant staff, very comfortable beds. If you eat breakfast every day, get the breakfast package. This made our stay even more relaxing. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The bathroom was a bit snug. Price was high, but comparable for other hotels in the historic area.
Walls are thin. Can hear neighbors
Clean, friendly staff, perfect location! Wifi was spotty
The location cannot be beat--the art throughout adds to the atmosphere of the hotel. Bed too high up--I needed a stepladder to get in--the hardwood floors were shined and polished so much that I thought I would slip and fall.
Perfect location and an art lovers dream. The room could have been cleaner
really lovely hotel. The service is what stood out the most to me. Every single person I encountered was top notch (even more so than some internationally-known hotels I have stayed at). Even when there was a tiny issue with my room service (more on me for being picky) - there was no attitude from anyone, everyone was happy to make an adjustment. The replacement meal came in less than 10 minutes with apologies from the chef even! (And the meal was delicious, btw) I even received a follow-up call from reception about 30 minutes after I got to my room to make sure everything was ok. That's never happened to me before. The room was beautiful--dark wood floors, large four-poster king bed, updated bathroom. Top notch service, great location right by the waterfront and some amazing restaurants. Noise: the wood floors are so beautiful, but that means you have to hear your inconsiderate neighbors clunk around on their floors with their shoes on. Perhaps a very sweet note when guests check in (or in the room) that while the floors are beautiful, please be mindful of your neighbors and take your shoes off while in the room." Also, in the morning I could hear everyone's conversations from the hallway very loudly! Size of Room/Bathroom: this is with the caveat that I had a very low rate that provided me with one of the more standard rooms, so it was not necessarily unexpected. For what I paid, it was a decent size, bathroom just decent size as well. If I actually planned to do work while there, I would recommend getting a bigger room as mine did not have a desk.
the vendue was wonderful. the staff were firefly and helpful and the room was very comfortable and well appointed. the location was also great. if you want even more character it may be better to say in the 26 vendue building but the advantage of 19, where I stayed, was that amenities were closer.
Location, ambiance; roof deck No Fitness area; limited toiletry selections; a little noisy ( it's old); you will pay a lot!
The overall vibe, from the room decor to the customer service was outstanding. Everything was clean, the room was better than expected, and the whole hotel was fun to walk through and view the artwork. The customer service across the board really made the experience though. Everyone was fantastic and eager to assist! Only two minor strikes. The bed was almost too comfortable. It was extremely soft and the pillows were softer. The rooftop bar was an awesome experience in the evening, however we arrived for lunch the first day and over half of the menu was unavailable at the time.
Location was excellent. Walk to many restaurants, the waterfront, carriage rides and an open air market. Wonderful service from everyone there. Rooftop bar was fun! It was very expensive, room was tiny, no views
The location within historic Charleston was convenient to everything. We were able to walk to all of our chosen destinations! The amenities offered were excellent, the staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was very comfortable. Would love to go back there and stay longer!! Can't think of anything we did not like.
It was close to everything downtown. The price for the size of the room and the parking.
Room was very clean, uniquely decorated and furnished. Breakfast, while not great, was better than most I've experienced in the States. Great location close to the Market and other sites in downtown Charleston. Easy walking distance. Front desk staff was not very helpful or friendly. Bathroom did not have a fan, the sink water was always luke warm. No coffee machine in room. The price of the room was not worth the value of the room. Parking could be an issue.
Handy for everything . no
breakfest was great, good lokation downtown
The breakfast on the roof top. The location in relationship to downtown Charleston. The bed was comfortable. The room was clean. The room had too big of furniture for the size of the room, esp the desk area. There was no swimming pool, jacuzzi, etc. Our room location was next to the entrance and it was a bit loud with the comings and goings. The maids started too early to clean rooms and it caused more noise in the hallway.
Location is great - convenient walking distance to all areas. The larger room is perfect for two friendly staff the breakfast is very good and convenient the daily wine and cheese is an added plus! paid parking is convenient when we arrived - the small room we had smelled very moldy - we went back to the office and they gave us a better , larger room our room was in the inner core - so no windows - the good news was that it allowed us to sleep longer in the morning
We were in Charleston for a wedding and stayed 3 nights at Andrew Pinckney Inn. Location was within walking distance of the restaurants, cathedral and aquarium chosen by the wedding couple for the weekend events. Sandy was especially helpful with recommendations and assistance booking a city tour and transportation when we needed it. The hotel was lovely and intimate with just 40 rooms. Beautiful floral arrangements, breakfast on the roof top, fresh cookies and coffee, tea, water and lemonade in the lobby and attention to detail made our stay very memorable. Charleston is well worth the trip! We paid $319 + tax and fees for Friday and Saturday night. $199 + for Sunday night. I returned home to have an e-mail promotion from Snique Away for Andrew Pinckney Inn for $109 per night. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, but now feel that Booking.com was not my best option when booking a hotel. Prime weekend with USC graduation may have played a factor.
it was restful, convienent, and clean
Very clean resort with the most breathtaking views of the Charleston harbor. The resort was immaculate with fast friendly service. So close to everything Charleston has to offer. Will definitely visit again.
Location was great. View was incredible. Rooms were noisy from the air conditioner and extremely humid. We felt wet almost the entire time. The carpet in the hallway of the 3rd floor where we stayed was dirty and had a very unpleasant odor. The fridge in the room was old and very tiny. No microwave at all. The concierge gave us some bad information and caused us to miss the only chance we had for a particular tour. Overall not a great experience and certainly not worth what we paid for the week.
While the resort has undergone renovation, the Harborside has yet to be updated. The rooms that used to be plush now have a well worn look that leaves it feeling slightly dingy. It also did not help that our sheets had not been changed before our arrival and were covered with the previous users's hair.
The hotel was clean and staff were friendly. Totally met my needs. I just didn't do anything at the hotel but sleep because I had meetings elsewhere No knowledge of other amenities. Great location.
The rooms are nice but the carpet in the hallway and rooms desperately needs replacing. The concept of the resort is lovely but it is shop worn ! Too much money for the product!
View and location Check in was at 4pm but did not check us in until 5:30. They said check in wasn't at 4pm, it just "begins" at 4pm. We were late for dinner reservations and were not told this. Balcony was not clean. cup full of cigarettes, 12 pack of empty beer cans. Room was not clean on one of our nights.
location is great Had to make three requests over two days to get someone to come and fix the safe. Party with a band, not a very good one, was extremely noisy on Thursday night until 10PM.
We absolutely loved our stay here!! Very clean, friendly staff, amazing view of the harbor!!
Proximity to the historic water front of Charleston. Cost of meals
My first trip to South Carolina. Loved Charleston for the two nights we were visiting……Will stay longer next time and bring my husband along. Also, 3 night stay in IOP - beautiful..
The staff was amazing. They booked us in a room that someone was staying in. For the inconvenience they compted us two tickets to any of the following two places: horse drawn carriage ride at palmetto carriages, tickets to Fort Sumpter, or tickets to the aquarium. The continental breakfast was good, but possibly due to the extensive amount of food they offered it lacked greatly on taste. I didn't like that they didn't have their own parking lot. We shared a parking deck with public parking and the cost was $16/day.
Loved it was there for a wedding and the location is so convent . We walked to king street for dinner and loved having the parking garage there
The location was great I was given a smoking room and did not know until I got there. I was also charged MORE than the standard rate.
Great breakfast! The coffee station that seemed to be available the entire time we were there was fantastic! A little bit on the pricey side but great overall.
Very good location, but so much to see we walked almost 10 miles in one day. Didn't have enough time to see everything we wanted. I guess that means another trip.
The price and location were good The room was clean but the mattresses need replacing. That is the most important thing to expect a good sleep and Hampton Inn fell short.
Location, friendly and helpful staff, cleanliness. Price.
Location was excellent for city sites and dining. Internet was a pain. Had to keep going through the Hampton steps to reconnect because it kicked us off when we tried to use our tablets.
We particularly liked the helpfulness of the staff.
Location. Staff. Coffee should be put out earlier, between 6 and 6:30 rather than 7 am.
The location was very good. I liked that they gave you 2 water bottles each day. The shower was great and the bathroom was VERY large. The bed was very uncomfortable and the pillows were a joke. They were tiny and lumpy. The room could have been better maintained. One of the drawer pulls came loose. One day we didn't have enough towels. They usually provide 3 or 4, but we only had 2. I use 2 towels when I shower (one for hair and one for body). I didn't realize there were not enough towels. My husband got out of the shower and didn't have a towel! I had to give him one of my wet towels. When I told the girl at the front desk, she didn't even apologize. She just made a note to provide us with extra towels. We didn't want EXTRA towels. We just wanted the normal number. The AC was VERY loud! I had to turn up the TV every time it turned on.
A very good room, bed and bathroom, well located No complaints
Clean - but feels like motel 6 .. For $ 300 a night - u really get nothing but location .. Didn't like anything at all but the location - if they charged 145 a night and not 290 I prob would rave .. But for 290 a night one expect more services .. Or at least room service ...
The rooms were recently renovated and very nice. We were treated well by the staff. It was in a very convenient location. would definatley stay there again
The staff was very efficient. They helped me with every request I had. They also were very helpful on answering questions I had about the city. The only problem I encountered was ordering room breakfast on Sunday morning. We had an early flight and wanted to have breakfast before leaving to the airport. I asked for an order slip at the front desk, and I was not told breakfast was not served on early Sunday mornings. By the time I was leaving, I got a call from the restaurant informing me there was no room service until later. Obviously, th problem is that the slip you fill out does not specify the exception of early breakfast on weekends.
Convenient to Historic Charleston Parking across the street - but only once. Other times parkng was available in the hotel parking lot.
I needed a quick place to stay for a few nights in Charleston. I had stayed at other Days Inn (on business) and wasn't expecting much, but this place was super nice. It's in a beautiful historic area and for the price you can't beat it. I watched an episode of Treehouse Master in the room, now I'm hooked. Thanks a lot TV, you god damned modern miracle.
Rooms were completely renovated - new carpet, TV, refrigerator & furniture. The safe is nicely sized so you can lock up your tablet or a small laptop. Housekeeping missed cleaning my room one day. That didn't make me happy.
Location is excellent Expensive, but I mean its Charleston
Location was great. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Room was adequate if a bit dated. Bed was comfortable. I heard every car driving by, every city bus accelerating from the nearby intersection, every conversation in the parking lot, every clack-clack-clack of every wheeled suitcase going down the side walk. There were many times when I actually looked to see if I had left the door open because I could hear voices outside so clearly that they must be in the room. Walls and door must be made of paper.
Great location for touriest Very noisy at night with contrustion going on
The location of this hotel was perfect. We were a quick walk to City Market and King Street. The staff was so nice and even fixed a circuit we blew within minutes. We will definitely be staying there again. We were very hesitant after the reviews but all was great! The vending machines were empty.
Location was good! No breakfast, room smelled musty, could use a better bed.
The location was amazing. We were able to walk everywhere in the city. The room was clean and the hotel staff was very nice. Would definitely stay here again.
Great location, friendly staff. Somewhat pricey for amenities provided.
How fast I was able to leave. Smelly room, filthy carpet, toxic microwave and aggressive towing company waiting to tow your car while you check in.
Nothing Everything it was dirty everywhere the bathroom door didn't shut the sheats were dirty the room smelled there was no view the walk to the room was sketchy
The AC is noisy
The location. Hotel was close to everything we wanted to visit. When we arrived at the hotel we had to wait over 1/2 hr for our room(which was booked 2 wks prior. And when we did get a room..The room assigned to us was already occupied. We had to go back to the desk toget another room. Even though the room was an upgrade we were not happy about the inconvenience.
Our stay in October of 2010 was wonderful. Our room was very clean and the beds were soooooo comfortable. It was priced reasonably with regards to location. I would definitely go back. The front desk could have been more informational in regards to the trolley
Staff is very pleasant. Hotel is close to major streets, easy to get around. It's called Downtown, but it is not downtown. Misleading unless you read previous reviews.
Staff at front desk. Breakfast was good. Room wasn't made up by 4PM on one day of our 3 day stay. Location isn't in historic district.
The property was one of the cheapest in the downtown area, so there was some value for the money. The location was not in the prime of downtown. It was easy enough to get a bus or cab downtown, so it worked out okay. The property is an older property that will be in need of some upgrades in the near future.
The cleaning staff was very noisy and spent a lot of time outside my door having personal conversations while I was trying to relax
Overall good stay. Noisy Air Conditioner in room.
The location, once you got to it was on the peninsula and made for quick drive to downtown nightlife Our room has cockroaches and the rooms had a low ceiling making the entire experience feel cramped and unclean.
Very friendly and accommodating staff. Free wifi was appreciated. Not walking distance to Charleston and not in the safest neighborhood.
affordability Location is not in the center of what a tourist wants to see in Charleston.
Restaurant closed, and only 1 restaurant close by, but did have breakfast available as grab and go. Didn't have our reservations recorded when booking through booking.com.
So close to everything. Easy access. there was no water in the pool when we arrived so there was no swimming for my daughter who is 11 and couldn't wait to swim
Lovely staff! Disappointed that room service closes at 930pm when I arrived in at 1030pm from the airport. The place across the road supposedly only did an 'all day breakfast' according to reception.
Staff was nice, location was amazing, very reasonable cab ride to downtown Charleston The facility was not worth the price at all. A lot of the fixtures were very dusty and the furniture was a little beat up. I paid a ridiculous amount for a very mediocre hotel.
Danielle at the front desk is amazing!, 5 to 8 minute drive to anything in Charelston, Waterfront Park around the corner, 20 to 30 minutes to the beach, Lamont the maintenance guy was so hospitable. This is not a fancy hotel but is a huge savings compared to the same hotel in downtown and only 5 minutes drive. Could use outlets by the bed to plug in your phone, the vending machines don't get filled often enough
The parking-lot. Old A.C., noisy, not enough towels, rooms not clean
Brand new was in easy access location You had to pay for breakfast it was not included. Pool was not heated so it's cold in the spring
I was surprised to see that there was no breakfast buffet. I haven't traveled much lately, but it seems like for years I've been able to rely on being able to grab I bite to eat (a muffin or something like that - you know, health food ) on my way out the door to my client's office (that being the reason I'm in the hotel in the first place). I was able to get complimentary coffee. But when I figured out that I'd have to sit down and order breakfast, I decided I'd rather go to Starbucks. Or McDonald's. Wherever. So after the first morning I skipped even the comp coffee. So are the hotels all going the way of the airlines - no comp anything anymore?
Very new hotel! Nice staff. Pool a little on the small size.
My grandchildren enjoyed the pool. I would like breakfast being included in my stay.
Nice staff and it was only one week old when we stayed! I think we were the first use of the room we stayed in! The decor was nice and the hotel was convenient to a main road.
Breakfast was great! The location was excellent. The Inn was quiet. Housekeeping did a great job. Room was always cleaned after a morning out. Turn down service was a nice perk. Always provided new towels at turndown service too. Just a lovely, all around Inn.
The staff went above and beyond to make your stay feel like you were part of their family . Great food , snacks and drinks all day long . Having to leave .
Proximity to the historic sector; room comfort, staff hospitality; Charleston is beautiful Meal quality & service at Tristan was below expectations
Great location to see so much of the beautiful city. Staff were very helpful, hotel is first class. Wine and cheese gave us a chance to meet some other travelers and share experiences.
On the top of hotels in which I have stayed. My friends and I all agreed that we love this hotel!! The only complaint, which is so minor it is hardly worth noting, was the phone system was not working correctly. We could call out, but the receiving end could not hear us. Lucky for us we all had cell phones.
We enjoyed having the extras included in the price of the room. The champagne upon arrival, afternoon wine and cheese, coffee and cookies in the evening and the continental breakfast were a delightful bonus.
We were quite pleased with the hotel amenities, staff professionalism, and its atterntion to details. It is a luxury hotel with an international flavor. Our one comment for change is to change the Church Street address. It is quite difficult to find it.
Everything! It was wonderful. Address shows, "Church Street", but entrance not on Church.
The facility is beautiful and the staff is pleasant and extremely helpful.
The staff was very friendly, and the mgr. responded right away when we told her the tub had hairs in it (not ours). Little extras like candy at turndown, champagne for our anniversary, and notes regarding the next days weather forecast were nice touches. Though the building itself is impressive, the Inn is in need of paint, polish and redecorating. The bed linens were not ironed, towels were old and one had a blood stain and another had hair on it, after finding hair in the tub.
Location Beds were very uncomfortable and not clean. Bathrooms were horrific. I was there for 2 nights for last minute business. The showers wouldn't drain, the handle fell of in shower, toilet was brown and wouldn't properly flush. I avoided the bathroom as much as possible. If I didn't have to be in the area I would have checked out and stayed further in downtown, especially for $130 a night with those cleanliness issues. Disappointed to say the least.
near downtown with free shuttle. Adequate free breakfast lots of construction esp in the lobby
The internet did not work in the room - at all. We are both tech savy it was not a user problem.. we connectted immedately down in the breakfast room.
Staff is very friendly and helpful. Excellent location. Easy to take there shuttle into town. I wish the hot water in the showers were hot. They only become warm. The a/c didn't work very well in our room, but it was adequate.
The location was convenient for exploring Charleston. The room was newly remodeled. Construction was never mentioned. It was loud & noisy early. I was offered a single bed room when I arrived, supposed to be a double. Had to wait over an hour for them to clean one. The room was new, but dirty. Someone else's hair in the shower etc... Only one bed had pillow cases & it took 2 more hours to get that fixed. Pool was out of order. Coffee machine did not work. So many things poorly ran for a very over priced room. $200+ a night for what??? I will never stay there again!!
The location in front of the marina Even though the door was deadbolted, with the metal arm across the top, still felt like a very flimsy door that would be easy to break open. Also, front desk staff late at night was arguing with me that since I had already checked in a few hours earlier without having given my rewars number prior to check in, that it was too late to get the points for my stay.
Close to down town with our paying down town prices Not much I can think of
The location was perfect and the price exceptional for the prices that exist in the Charleston downtown As much as the location and view were nice, had I been staying more than a short night, I would have probably left and gone to a different hotel. Understand the place is under major reconstruction, but as I checked and received my card key, I was not thrilled to walk out the back door and across to the adjacent building shrouded in a 1970s aura complete with dead foliage and (unlike he first building) outdoor entrances. The room itself wasn't bad. Nice open bathroom, but the sheets, comforter, and mattress were also from the 1970s. As I paid an extra $10 for a luxury king size bed, I expected at least a pillow top and not a twenty year old, worn out, $200, interlocking coil mattress with a dip the perfect shape of my body in which I seemed of grovel in all night. Thankfully, since I woke up every hour on the hour, I did not miss my early morning meeting across the river.
Room ready on time and cleaned properly. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was not ready on time and did not get to eat what I wanted. Didn't even have milk for cereal at 7:30am available. Otherwise other things were fine.
Nothing. Terrible experience. The public spaces were filthy as well as the corridors and guest rooms. Upon check in, we discovered that our sheets were covered with hairs. We kindly asked the front desk to change before we return after dinner. We were returned our bathroom was semi flooded and the sheets were unchanged. There was one person on staff at the time so she handed us a stack of sheets to change the sheets ourselves. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone else. Worst hotel experience of my life.
The location was nice. The biggest issue I have is the fact that when we booked the room it was never mentioned that the hotel was under construction. It wasn't until after we had checked in that someone at the front desk told us that construction started every day at 8 am. To be honest we assumed that it meant construction would be happening on another building but it turns out it was right above us. At EIGHT. On a Saturday. That's fine if you warn people beforehand but when you don't, it is infuriating. Additionally, the room wasn't very clean and the staff wasn't very helpful. I wouldn't recommend staying here.
Work for what we needed it for However would never stay again
Great location. Friendly staff. Large rooms. Roof top bar was a lovely spot for a late afternoon drink and to watch the sunset over charleston. The first room we checked into was smelly and overlooked a parking lot. Terrible room but the hotel was quick to relocate us to a much better room. For the price we paid for our room the first room should not have been given to us. A subpar room for a superior hotel.
Great location. Only issue that we had was the WiFi didn't work well even though we had a router in the room. They changed it out twice & the service was still intermittent. The hotel was slow to respond.
Character and charm were fantastic and the staff were attentive and always willing to give a hand. Danny's help in the lobby area couldn't have been better!
I loved the turn down service each night.
Valet and Bellmen were on point, room was comfortable, location was good. Check-in staff was a little stuffy, room window was beside auxiliary generator that came on very loudly while we were there, and a parking deck, NO VIEW AT ALL! Got a text ahead of time to let me know we would be getting a high floor with a view only to get just the opposite. The rooftop bar and restaurant was more of a tourist destination with the feel of a national restaurant chain. Due to the rooftop situation the elevator was crowded and slow.
Beautiful hotel, great location, great service! Definitely will be back!
This is a first rate hotel! Will not stay anywhere else in Charleston. If you want the ultimate Charleston experience it is a must to stay at the Market Pavillion.
