10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! The 'wow' factor of the house to start with. The quality of the bedding, the furniture, the location, the peace and quiet, Ann and Martin, the owners who couldn't do enough for you, the home made cake and drinks on arrival. The divine breakfasts cooked using top quality ingredients, the thoughtfulness in thinking about prebooking a local taxi to take us to our venue, the room being made up and fan on for when we returned from the festival. Nothing was too much trouble. Fantastic place run by a couple who go the extra mile for their guests.
Cons: There was nothing to dislike.

Pros: Stayed due to a business trip. Received a lovely, warm welcome from Ann and Martin on my arrival. Their home is stunning, and I have not stayed in a location with so many room facilities as this one. Room was spotless and the bed super comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and I watched pheasants walk through the garden as I ate. I will stay here again if I am in this location on business and would thoroughly recommend the B and B to other travellers.
Cons: Nothing - perfect stay.

There are nearby eateries within walking distance, so we didn't need to use the car if we didn't want to.

Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was divine
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was small (as advertised ~ a single room, priced accordingly). The bathroom (separate from the bedroom) was for my sole use. Most importantly, everything was very very clean and the bed very comfortable. The Hostess, Madeline, was extremely helpful and easy to talk to. Breakfast was very generous and served a little before 7.00am as I needed to be at the Channel Port (about 8 mins drive away) for around 7.30
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Madeline, and Harley the black Labrador were very welcoming and lovely hosts. The continental breakfast was more than adequate and very satisfying. The room was very clean, fresh and comfortable. Madeline allowed me to use her freezer for my ice pack every night which was very useful in the hot week we had there. It’s a quiet location ideally suited for touring as it is a short drive to either Brighton or Eastbourne. The public bus service is brilliant if you don’t fancy driving. Madeline is a good source of information if you need pointers on local places.
Cons: Everything was as near perfect as could be and we cannot find fault at all.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Really lovely breakfast - loads of home-made items and excellent coffee. Better than usual selection of tea, coffee and biscuits in the room, including fresh milk, not those long-life pots. Very good location for our plans.

Cons: There wasn’t any dislikes
5.8 Okay
Pros: Breakfast excellent. Staff very friendly

Cons: the bed was a bit firm, but fine for a night or two.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Very good breakfast choice. Friendly staff.
Cons: No WiFi coverage in room (and no mobile phone reception). Room small, furniture v old/scuffed and it was extremely stuffy despite opening windows. Waste water bubbled up (noisily) in shower during the night. Grounds around pub unkempt and in poor state. Not worth £120/night

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was excellent; room and bathroom clean and comfy, although room is small. Location is very good, can walk easily to the centre.
Cons: Limited space for doing anything other than sleep, no common space or open space. Parking at property theoretically is offered but akward as it needs to be negotiated with owner. There are cheap parking options nearby anyway. Owner friendly and helpful but discreet.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Yummy breakfast
7.0 Good
Pros: Good central Lewes location. Lovely friendly owner, excellent cooked breakfast.
Cons: This is a room in someones home rather than a purpose built hotel, so it will have a slightly different feel. I'm nitpicking a bit, but the TV in the room was truly ancient, and the shared bathroom had one of those showers that you could never quite get to the right temperature.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The friendliness of the host and the convenient location. Very quiet at night
Cons: It would have been very useful to know tin advance hat the turning into the parking space was so narrow. When i arrived I hadn't appreciated this and swung out too wide and scratched my car. If I had been forewarnd I wuld ahve been extra careful.

Cons: Some screws on the table in the bathroom need tightening.

Yha South Downs - Hostel - Lewes - Bedroom

Overview Reviews
With a stay at YHA South Downs - Hostel in Lewes, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Newhaven Fort and Drusilla's Zoo. Featured amenities include luggage storage and laundry facilities. Free self parking is available onsite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I have never stayed in a YHA before. This was a great location. Basic but with every practical thing covered. We arrived late but we were greeted very politely and were quickly booked in but a lovely member of staff. The cafe - and particularly the coffee - is great - indoor and outdoor seating areas. five mins walk from Soutease station and a lovely hour long walk along the river in quaint Lewes.
Cons: One side looks out onto the beautiful South Downs but the road behind is very busy - however, every room is supplied with earplugs if you want to block out the noise :-)
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Cosy and warm pod in beautiful surroundings. Lovely breakfast.
Cons: It had a smoke and co2 detector in the pod that flashed every minute or so. It was like having a photo taken each time. Kept us and our young children awake the first night before we took the ferry to France for a fortnight. We had to cover it with a towel on the way back but I’m not sure that was the safest option! This needs resolving as it didn’t seem to be the first time the staff had been told about the problem.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely atmosphere, great location, clean facilities, well equiped kitchen, good selection of onsite amneties, within close driving distance of superstore for groceries, lots of chill out space, hot shower!
Cons: Duvet provided felt too hot for summer

Cons: Liked everything
8.3 Excellent
Pros: How close it was to the station and how it had a homely feel to it.
Cons: The cafe food prices were pretty steep, £10 for a pizza? That's more expensive then central London!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous location and fabulous staff. The cafe is really nice and the food is very reasonably priced. We didn’t opt for breakfast but it looked fantastic value and very tempting.
Cons: The pods are very small with little space to hang clothing. Not very practical on a wet day.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hostel attracted bike riders and walkers and families so it was a good mix of interesting people though I came by car and was not particularly energetic. There is something for us non-physical traveller though as there were lovely villages, old houses, and beautiful cliff views. The hostel was near the train so I got into Bath easily. It was in a very old building, attractively converted.
Cons: I liked everything.

The historic county town of Lewes is situated in the South Downs National Park and is perfect for Glyndebourne, the coast, the South Downs and a short train or bus ride to Brighton. The Cabin accommodates 2 adults, there is a double futon bed which converts to a sofa; a dining room table; a kitchenette with sink, fridge, microwave, toaster and kettle. The Cabin is situated in the front garden of our house, the house is close by, yet the cabin is still quiet, secluded and private.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Cute cottage, very well located, close to the train station, very quite, very responsive and arranging hosts
Cons: Very bright in the morning, if you're sensitive to the light bring your sleeping mask :)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Quirky liked it
Cons: Nothing
7.0 Good
Pros: Very clean; bed was comfortable; very grateful for the fan as it was a very hot weekend!
Cons: No coasters & no coat hangers which would have been useful! The main house security lighting was a bit intrusive as it was on more than off.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: A good choice of breakfast left for us and a choice of tea and coffee. Complete privacy. Lovely little cabin.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: This was a very large, pleasant room with its own shower/toilet in a very central part of Lewes. It's a little bit like a Swiss chalet in a very nice garden that was looking at its best at this time of the year overlooking the large family family house. yet secluded and private. l really liked the decor which was light and airy. The home owner, Felicity, was very helpful and even got me some special breakfast things. The price was extremely competitive and would have been even more so had there been two people. The room is well lit and the bed comfortable. l really couldn't have asked for more.
Cons: l couldn't find a cloth to dry dishes with and a couple of clothes hangers would also have been appreciated but the room was very well stocked in every other respect.
7.0 Good
Pros: Opportunity to be left in peace Sweet little house in the garden
Cons: We thought it was most odd that over three nights stay for two, the milk, butter, the pack of crumpets etc. weren’t replenished. You get one lot of food, and that was it. We were also asked us to clean the room and empty bins, which more reflects self-catering, not B&B There were no net curtains on the (many) windows so you had to pull the curtains to attain any privacy, which, given the proximity to the main house.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect little lodge for a weekend away. Great location Lovely little extra touches Would be nice is there was a full length mirror but an excellent stay all round.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Really enjoyed my stay. Very good facilities including a fridge and microwave. All very clean and comfortable..

5.8 Okay
Pros: Friendly staff, very pleasant American manager, good location, clean & crisp linen.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked how helpful the staff were and how stylish and comfortable the hotel was. It was also in a brilliant location.
Cons: That we only stayed the one night!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What we were looking for, spot on.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful English country house atmosphere, Cream tea served in the lovely garden Exceptionally friendly staff Every room is furnished individually and with some antique furniture
Cons: The bathrooms are very clean but are getting a bit tired and could do with an upgrade
4.3 Okay
Cons: This hotel presents itself as a luxury boutique establishment, but... hardly any staff on hand, small room - the kind with a large corner cut out to accommodate next door's bathroom -, small bed, outdated plumbing, no soap or shampoo provided, not very clean, altogether tired and a bit run down, decor throughout clearly the work of a colour-blind designer. There is no way that the standard justifies the room price. Best to avoid.
6.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast OK,but why not include in room price? Comfortable, large room and bed
Cons: Carpets worn and seemingly dirty For a hotel the clientele of which seemed mainly OAPs, a pity there was no porter to carry bags to rooms which seemed up ad down a lot of stairs and through many doors. Room numbers not well signposted
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice Hotel very quirky food was good, rooms clean.
Cons: Needs some TLC it looked very tired and needed some maintenance, the garden needed some attention. We thought the pricing was too high considering the work that needs doing to the property.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location , good size rooms , staff
Cons: Bathroom could do with a deep clean
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very convenient for Glyndebourne by taxi, very friendly staff, good breakfast
Cons: The entrance door to our room was very heavy. Access to the main building would not b e by a covered walkway in the rain.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Interesting equestrian centre/farmyard setting. Grounds well kept. Minimal road noise. Good sleep. Good breakfast. Staff brilliant. Might need a fan in room if weather exceptionally hot.
Cons: Balcony woodwork needs preservation treatment to improve appearance as faded.
6.3 Good
Pros: Quiet and pretty site. Dinner was good value.
Cons: Whole place a bit tired and “worn”. A bit old fashioned for my taste, it felt like I stayed in my granny’s spare bedroom. Booked a twin room, given a double and had to be moved. Staff were helpful and move wasn’t issue for them but if you make request on-line it would make sense to fulfil it before guests arrive. I gave my reason for staying before I arrived but staff had lack of attention to detail but no clue so it just seems a waste of time telling them ahead of stay.
7.5 Good
Pros: Quiet tranquil location next to an equestrian training centre. Nice for relaxing outside of Brighton but easy access into the centre via a 25 minute drive
7.5 Good
Pros: Location and dog friendly
Cons: Shower handles dirty
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We had a lovely stay, everyone was really nice and went above and beyond our expectations, we would defintley use this hotel again if we are working in that area.
Cons: the peacocks were very vocal but that's not anything anyone can change :)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Excellent service! Thanks to Katie and Ross on the front desk.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely location. Comfortable beds. Great shower. Fantastic staff. Delicious food.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: loved the fact the door from the room takes you outside and not into a corridor like most hotels, this made the hotel very different in a good way. Staff were all very happy and as a whole the place was very relaxing

7.0 Good
Pros: It was convenient for going to an event in Brighton the lady on reception was extra helpful with an issue I had with tickets for the event and printed them off for me all of the staff we encountered were lovely
Cons: In itself it’s quite nice it’s just dated particularly the outside areas are a bit scruffy and could do with a good tidy up and repairs to fences etc the room was clean and nicely decorated but the bathroom was very dark esp with the black shower curtain you could barely see anything in the shower perhaps a brighter bulb and a white curtain also the bath was very slippery Everything else was fine tho
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were certainly eager to please to ensure our stay was the best it could be. The rooms are perfectly appointed with great showers, and super-comfy beds!
Cons: So close to the A27, but what did we expect - the address said it all
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good friendly staff Breakfast was very good Couldn't have asked for more
Cons: No one thing
6.3 Good
Pros: Neat, clean and very friendly staff
Cons: The inn is right next to motorway. Room no 2 was allocated to us and it was very hot due to direct sun. We had to open windows at night and the sound of cars was too loud to be able to sleep
3.8 Mediocre
Cons: The website is misleading. there is no view from the hotel, it is next to the A27, so you can't open the window without excessive traffic noise, the bar closed at 10pm - and lots of other complaints, too many to list
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Easy access and parking away from Brighton. Excellent and friendly staff even though standing in until new owner comes in. Very good breakfast and decent choice of evening meal at reasonable prices. Have stayed here a few times now and always have always been happy with the accommodation and service.
Cons: Nothing really. If I was going to be picky the decor is a little tired and am sure when new owners get it it will be freshened up
4.5 Okay
Pros: The relief manager did try.
Cons: Very poor lighting in bathroom, cut myself shaving. No chair in the room(it was classified as a superior room); this was insulting. Breakfast, first morning , no chef so no cooked breakfast. I asked that evening would there be a chef the next morning I was told yes. Next morning there were no bowls or spoons put out ready to use. Ordered poached a on, beans-was told the poacher was not working ?? so ordered scrambled eggs. The chef( IF he was a chef ) brought the meal( he was not wearing a white coat/jacket) and did not look very presentable ! The food was not well presented and the plate itself was far too small and therefore difficult to eat. Ordered tea and it was brought with a BOTTLE of milk-which was soon whisked away for another customer!!! I was not asked whether I would like a round of toast afterwards and not asked whether the pot wanted topping up, indeed I had to look around to find the BOTTLE when I poured more tea. On arrival no one took me to the room , when I got to it I was horrified by the sound of the traffic( subsequently I discovered that the room was approximately 24 meters from the west bound carriage way of the A 25 . I went to reception and was told that ALL the rooms were at the front and in any case the hotel was fully booked, Absolute nonsense on both counts as the relief manager told me the next morning.in fact on the first night there were only about 5 vehicles in the car park. If you wanted to go to Lewes by bus you had take a bus to outskirts of Brighton and then get bus to Lewes , I could imagine anyone of sound mind trying to cross the central reservation of what is virtually a motorway- and an extremely busy one at that! as I found out with very little sleep first night and none at all the second night: a vehicle passed about every 7 seconds ALL NIGHT. Had I paid £80 per night I would have been have been appalled but having paid £118 per night then I am hopping mad-it is obscene to pay that for such an appalling place .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location for access to Brighton and surrounding areas
Cons: Everything about the Inn was excellent. There is obviously noise from the A27, but that is only to be expected give its the Inn's location.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff very helpfull
Cons: No thing
