4.0 Okay
Pros: Clean and quiet.
Cons: Too old. The old lady used extra washing powder to clean the linens. The smell was so strong that couldn’t get into sleep. On the other hand, it was very clean.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The view from my room I see the ocean. At night I hear only the ocean. The breakfast was very good and charming
7.1 Good
Pros: Generally ok stay Staff was very helpful with enquiries
Cons: Pricehigh
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The localization of the venue was exceptional and the view from the dining room. And the outdoor onsen. All great! The pension was in quite good condition (renewed), clean. Also nice staff.
Cons: It was a little bit more expensive than I would expect. For this price it is possible to get better hotels in other places of Japan. But for Izu it is not that expensive.
7.9 Good
Pros: The outside bath is nice.
Cons: Room had a not so good smell. The name of the place is quite misleading. Nothing really surfy about the place but good stay overall.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We loved the view of the sea and the beautiful outdoor onsen, which we could book out for private use. Really friendly and welcoming staff too.
Cons: If possible, cutting the overgrown area between the hotel and the beach would improve the view.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Super location, close to a beach, close to supermarket, close to bus stop. Very nice owners, good breakfast (served breakfast, no selection, but very good!). Comfortable beds, cosy room. Would go back any time, without hesitation!
Cons: There was nothing we didn't like
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice and clean the staff is friendly
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location for visiting the west coast of Izu Peninsula. The room was quite small, but acceptable. Beds were very comfortable (hard mattress, which I like, but may be too hard for some). There was a microwave in the lobby, which was useful for heating up food. Appreciated having a refrigerator in the room, but it was quite small so we ended up buying ice from 7/11 to keep some of our food in our ice chest. The outside onsen was awesome, and so nice that it was a private onsen so that a couple can enjoy it together. Very convenient to have a grocery store and 7/11 nearby. I would definitely stay here again!
Dougashima Hotel Tenyu - Nishiizu - Building

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Despite staff having no English we managed to communicate well and this was a great experience
Cons: Not staff or hotel fault but being vegetarian with no fish or seafood was hard to explain. It was sorted by about day 3 Would be good to have some equipment ie kayak, snorkels etc as we swam even though the staff said it was too cold

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Guest House Itokawa is a fantastic little place to stay! The house is a wonderful little old-style Japanese place with a big kitchen, bathroom and common space on the first floor. The second floor has the 4 guest rooms - all tatami rooms with nice big windows. Each guest room has an AC unit and a fan so we were able to stay nice and cool in the summer heat! The futons are super comfy - loved the sheets! Nao, our host, was incredibly kind and very easy to converse with through booking.com when he wasnt at the guest house. He made suggestions on where to eat in the area and responded very quickly to any questions we had. Also, Nico, a staff member who checked us in was very sweet. The guest house is about 15 mins down the coast from Dogashima and about 50 mins away from Shirahama Beach. Absolutely wonderful place to stay! If I ever go back to the Izu Peninsula, I will be staying here again! Thank you Nao and Nico for our great stay!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Had everything I needed, including laundry facilities. Room was private and spacious compared to other accommodations I had in Japan. Owner and daughter were very friendly and helpful. Pretty close to some beautiful beaches and scenery.
Cons: Bus service to location was very sparse, usually ended up walking from further bus station. Difficult to find open restaurants without very long walk or bus ride.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great staff!Naosan is a gentleman!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I spent here three very comfortable nights and three wonderful days cycling and hiking around Matsuzaki. This guesthouse is a little jewel. I like the Japanese style, with tatami rooms and the kotatsu in the shared living room downstairs. And found excellent the kitchen, with all the necessary pots, dishes, cups, utensils for cooking and many condiments for cooking freely available. I cooked here for three days. Two well stocked supermarkets are located nearby. Wifi internet is strong and works perfectly. On the back of the guesthouse there is a nice little public foot thermal bath, free. Matsuzaki is a great place for exploring the southern tip of Izu, ideal for cycling, hiking, walking birdwatching and, generally speaking, for the nature lovers. Mr. Ito the host is a most kind person. Thank you so much Mr. Ito, for hosting me in this difficult times.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything, Mayu-san is super friendly and helpful. The whole place is so chilled out, amazing stuff.
Cons: Didn't get to stay there for longer
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It’s my second time in Itokawa and it was a pleasure to meet the owner. Nao-san is very friendly and you’ll sure get a good time with him.
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Seaview room.
Cons: Onsen is small.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This is an older-style resort hotel on the beach at Matsuzaki. The Japanese-style tatami room was fairly large and comfortable enough, although, of course, one has to sit and sleep on the floor. The room was on the 8th floor, and the view of Sagami Bay and the sunset was spectacular. The staff was very accommodating, and the breakfast and dinner had a large selection. Finally, the price, including breakfast and dinner, was very reasonable.
Cons: Although the food selection at breakfast and dinner was quite good, the quality was a little sub-par.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My room is supposed to lodge three ladies. Turn out I was the only one using that room that day. It's a room not only with a view but also pounding wave. There is a lounge on the 10/F with panoramic view of the town and the shore.
Cons: Nothing
7.1 Good
Pros: The staff are very helpful and sincere but they can not speak english at all. Every room has a sea view and the sunset scene is excellent
Cons: Daily cleaning services is not provided. Tax for onsen is charged but the facility is actually a simple and small public bath.
