Our location on the Columbia River is conveniently located in one of the most stunning vantage points in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, perfect for any adventure. The Columbia Gorge offers an abundance of outdoor activities, from hiking, biking and water sports, to more passive adventures such as wine tasting, craft beer sampling and scenic touring. Nearby waterfalls, trails and scenic routes are right in our backyard. Our hotel is conveniently located off Interstate-84 and Historic Highway 30, only 35 miles from Portland. Popular water sports on the Columbia River include stand up paddling, boating, and water skiing. The area is renowned for sailing, kite boarding and windsurfing, with the Gorge offering some of the best wind conditions in the country. Abundant mountain bike trails and road routes are close by, as is the paved Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail (with the Bridge of the Gods trail head a stone’s throw away). Visit the nearby Historic Marine Park (home of the Sternwheeler), the beloved Hood River Fruit Loop, or Stevenson's Bluegrass Festival for some of the region's best music. You’ll find over two dozen wineries and a dozen craft breweries in the Gorge region. Relax in one of our comfortable rooms, many of which include spectacular views of the Columbia River. A trip over the Bridge of the Gods gives you a bird's eye view of the Gorge—and puts you in a prime spot to explore the Washington side of the river. We offer complimentary full breakfasts served to order at Bridgeside restaurant next door. A sparkling indoor, heated pool and spa provide relaxation and fun. Guests can also take advantage of the exercise facilities, business center, truck and RV parking, 24-hour hot beverage bar, quaint walking paths and views of the Cascade Mountains. We look forward to hosting you. Reserve your river-view room at the Best Western Plus Columbia River Inn today.
Pros: Responsive staff
Green area (pretty much inside the woods)
View from inside the lodge and out
Cons: 1. I was staying in the room 404 and the booking description showed the room has a microwave, which we needed to sterilize the bottles. There was no microwave and after sharing the complaint I wasn't offered one.
2. I'm not a tall guy, but the shower was really below my height, so I had to squat.
3. Nowhere in the listing it says that the majority of rooms are connecting. Our room wasn't an exception and you can hear all the kinds laughing and jumping at 8AM next door. And our neighbors have probably heard our child crying in the middle of the night.
Skamania Lodge, a magnificent mountain resort nestled on 175 wooded acres, is located in the spectacular Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. The rustic yet elegant, grand mountain Lodge is located just 45 miles east of Portland, Oregon, on the Washington side of the Columbia River.
Pros: We really liked the suite with the private spa on exterior balcony. The bathhouse soak and wraps and the forested setting
Cons: Could use a bit of an upgrade to a satellite entertainment system
A great stay at Carson Hot Springs Resort in Carson can include a round of golf at the 18-hole course. You can indulge in massages or body wraps, and The Elk Ridge Clubhouse serves breakfast and lunch.
Cons: Room smelled funny
Bathroom floor never dried since there was no boundary between shower and rest of bathroom.
Pros: Good proximity to the river
Cons: Very uncomfortable bed; musty smell; toilet in the shower. No idea how they get away with charging $120+ / night. Stay literally anywhere else nearby and you'll be better off.
Pros: The interior of the room was cleaned well, and the location was good. The staff was also friendly.
Cons: Unsettling outward appearance. Lots of flies and bugs in my room... I felt more comfortable sleeping on top of the bed in my own blankets. Sound insulation wasn't the best.
Pros: Columbia Gorge Inn is a great value. It is no frills and no surprises: you get a rock bottom price and a clean room and good service. I will stay here again!
Columbia Gorge Inn is a great choice for a stay in Cascade Locks. For a bite to eat, guests can check out Cascade Inn, which serves American cuisine and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A bar/lounge and a garden are offered, and in-room conveniences include refrigerators and microwaves.
Cons: When booking, and again when I arrived, I asked for a "quiet" room. The host assured me the quietest room in the inn. When I got to the room door the adjacent room had a blaring television going. Upon request, the management, for an additional fee, moved me to a second room where the television did not work. From there I was moved to a third room where, because of the noise of adjacent rooms and passing trains, I did not sleep a wink all night.
