We booked our room based on the pictures. The room we stayed in was not renovated and had brown, smelly carpet in it. The road was really loud. A group of drunk people were in the pool partying until they got kicked out at 10pm. It felt like a motel and was vastly overpriced for what we got. Would not return.
Pros. Location
Cons. Additional precautions were being made to reopen after lockdown, so the entire pool area was closed off including the patio lounge chairs by the pool. I was looking forward to relaxing in the shade here with a book and the entire area was closed off. They make you sign a waiver that says it’s not their fault if you get covid, so you should be able to use the facilities at your own discretion.
Pros. We had a large group of friends. Everyone felt the hotel was na great deal. To begin with the staff was super friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and the breakfast was a nice perk.

Cons. Well, the furnishings weren't my taste but that's just me. I usually like a more modern hotel.

Cons. We had paid in advance (November) for a date in May. In March we received a phone call from Kayak or their 3rd party telling us we would have to move to a hotel in Ventura since they had over booked the hotel. We were very upset since we had made reservations very early. We were told by that 3rd party that if we didn't move then we could cancel. After several phone calls and emails we were finally able to stay. The good thing was that the hotel had us in their system as the reservation they had and they told us that they were not changing it unless we told them we were. When we arrived at the hotel, our check in took about a 1/2 hour because the credit card the third party gave to the hotel was not working. It was sorted out but was incenvenient.
Pros. Consistently good, with little touches that show that staff and owners care about property and the environment. Very quiet and comfortable. Walk to shops and hiking. I stay here every time I'm in Ojai.
Cons. Need bedside outlets to plug in phone and other accessories.
