Beautiful!
Away from tourist areas. Very peaceful.
Needs some renovation.
Family Friendly
Perfect for families with young kids and dogs. Five minutes from Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Roe. Just around the corner from 17 Mile Drive gate. Convenient parking.
Rooms and resort dated and a bit run down. Could be a little cleaner. Continental breakfast area overcrowded and toasters not all working. Night front desk clerk not very friendly.
The location
Very poor wifi, and poor phone service. Breakfast was very minimal without much selection.
Cemetery behind room 141
Cute room, the room was clean.
The back of our room was facing a cemetery. And the landscape hadn't been maintained for quite sometime.
Definitely not as described
we had deer right in front of our patio door! And the grounds were nice. The beds were also comfortable. The free wifi was easy to use too. The location is great.
Our patio sliding door didn't have a screen so when we opened the door for ventilation I noticed a couple of mosquitoes. And when exploring the cemetery that our room faced I noticed that other rooms in our building had screens on their doors. The room also had a weird smell when we first got there. while the sheets were clean the carpet had several stains and there were a lot of scratches and marks on the walls. And considering the price and how easy it would be to cover them with touch up paint, I was disappointed with the quality...not to mention our room was described as having a fireplace and ours did not.
Please tell stay
The area, peaceful and seanic.
The area it is in
Different levels of service between the "Lodge" an
Rooms are upgraded and very nice, great location, pleasant staff.
The "Lodge" is in one location across the street from the picturesque "Cottages". The "Lodge" rooms are more of a typical Motel, with upstairs rooms and downstairs rooms (thus neighbors can be noisy if you are downstairs). Cottages are the pics you see and are beautiful, if you are staying there, which can be misleading as there are no two double bed rooms in the cottages. All two bed rooms are in lower level in the "Lodge". What really upset us is the two levels of service. In the "Cottages" there is a beautiful main dining area for meals/wine/fire pits, but you can't use it if you are staying in the "Lodge" rooms. The "Lodge" rooms get a very cramped continental breakfast that would be sub-par for a Super 8.
The views were excellent. Proximity to other attractions was a plus.
Second day breakfast had no meat items.
Late check in
The room was nice and spacey. The fireplace was a nice addition even though we didn't use it. It's a good location to see things in Monterey bay, walking or driving. The breakfast is a good deal.
We tried to check in and was told our room wouldn't be ready for 30-45 minutes. They suggested we come back or wait. No explanation was given and there were absolutely no apologies or signs of inconvenience. They only gave us 3 towels for the room and when we asked for more because we were going to the pool it seemed super inconvenient for them or like it wasn't allowed. Be aware of the mosquitoes in the area. We left the door open and a lot got in the room. Be aware the space behind the hotel is a cemetery.
It was very charming with the cemetery and light house within walking distance.
Shower doors and floor tile could use some Tilex
Reviews of this property are rather unfair. It is well kept and the room was very nice and clean. It appears to be recently updated. It does back up to a cemetery but that didn't bother us and provided for a view of the grazing deer. Internet worked well and the fire-pit was a great place to relax.
The breakfast was cold, tasteless and for the most part empty trays of food were offered. Rubber egg frisbees, cold under cooked potatoes and slimy oatmeal. Bring your own breakfast! Other than the breakfast things were good.
A little gem!
Perfect space for us. A little balcony which was nice because we have a one-year-old that goes to bed at 7:30. Short walk to the coast and out of the way of the touristy business of Monterey.
Only like three chairs at the pool. Sliding doors to balcony very stubborn.
