The location of the hotel was excellent for sightseeing in Pau. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Sadly, when the temperature was in the 30s there was no air conditioning in the rooms. Almost impossible to sleep!
We enjoyed our stay at the hotel as it is in a fantastic location. All of Pau is easily walkable the hotel is a stunning building and has lovely original french decor in the public area's. We read it was a little in need of upgrading but we fould it perfect, the slighly faded carpets and furniture only added to the ambience of the place. Our room and bathroom were spacious and recently refurbed and the bed was really comfortable. We would definitely reccommend a stay here. Can't comment on the food as we didn't eat in the hotel.
Yes, 2 things; 1) the fact that there were cockroaches in the room, 2)the hotel is in serious need of a refurbishment.
The staff, the decor. Restaurant closed at the week-end, the location in the centre was almost impossible to get into. It took 1 hour to find our way through the maze of road works and bizarre traffic arrangements. We felt the price should have reflected the current difficulty. I would not stay again until the centre of the town is completed.
no worries at all; good performance of the hotel crew i missed a bar to meet my colleages and friends; the lounge was not big enough
It is very convenient for the centre of the lovely city of Pau. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Based on these two points we would recommend it. The room decor is badly in need of refreshment, and not as we would expect from that standard of hotel, especially compared with our expections of the Best Western chain. There was no air conditioning in the room, indeed the room overlooked the airconditioning outlets from other areas which rather added insult to injury!
central location and free hotel parking. large spacious rooms. rooms where large, clean and comfortable but the decor was a bit shabby
Excellent reception staff.
Room was very nice. Free parking.
Very good location in the heart of the city, close to shops, restaurants, sights. Helpful staff. Good breakfast. Big room with good organized storage and facilities. Once it was a fashionable hotel but now all furniture and facilities are very old and dusty. Dirty bathroom.
The hotel was convenient to the Station and some of the other wonderful scenery. We found the breakfast was excelent. The staff was wonderful.
The location was great, the room was spacious and nice with a huge bathroom. Free Wi-Fi was useful. Have not used the restaurant so cannot comment on it.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the quality of the room and the breakfast was good. We liked the traditional atmosphere and the personal approach of the staff. The air conditioning was not very good, as it was a very noisy free-standing unit.
The pleasant helpful staff - the spaciousness of the room and bathroom, the proximity to the castle. The cleanliness.
Bedroom decor was a little strange.
its location and friendly staff I was in room 35 .Very little natural light. Could not take a shower as all the water would end up on the floor. No curtains on the window of the bathroom . Not enough towels. The quality of the pillows is poor as well as the sheets. No smoking room available.
Location - convenient for town centre. Poor quality furnishings - looked like stuff thrown out of someone's home. Very poor breakfast. Parking difficult with limited close to hotel.
good sized rooms, clean, central location, close to chateau, restaurants etc, free pool table!
excellent location for exploring pau and for restaurants shops etc
manager was excellent - spoke english which was very helpful for us. we had a room with a great view out over the square.
A clean, cheap option well located in the centre of Pau Nothing special!
The man on reception was an excellent ambassador for the hotel. He was very friendly & helpful. We stayed at Le Bourbon on one of the warmest days of the summer and the aircon failed. The receptionist offered to move us but we stuck with our room as we were only staying one night. I wish we hadn't as, apart from being hot due to the aircon problem, our room overlooked the square which was noisy with revellers until 4 in the morning.
Nothing. Hotel was no better than a cheap motel.Lino floors in the hallways.Stairway carpets were stained with god knows what. The lobby(if that's what you call it)smelled of old stale food.Disregard the hotel pictures.Just awfull.Do not stay at this hotel.
Great location, very central for shops and sightseeing. Room smallish but comfortable. Would be good to provide exta tv channels and a kettle. Bathroom was definitely small, and shower fitting needed fixing.
The room was lovely, big windows and very comfy bed! large tv, clean bathroom...very nice! and it has a lift which was ideal!
It is an easy walk to "pau" centre. Had to ring the bell several times before someone came to check us in.bed was uncomfortable, shower cubicle was old and very stained with mould.
Comfortable, friendly, centrally located hotel of character with attractive rooms and parking space.
We were only passing through on our way from Spain to UK. Managed to see the Gothic Cathedral, havde a meal nearby & walk around the City - very pretty & lots to see, hence we will return on our way back home!
Location close to town centre and private parking.
Very near centre of Pau. Friendly, helpful staff. Adequate rooms Some may find rooms quite small
the staffs are good, cleanliness is great the sound of the aircontioner makes noice during all the night..
Friendly staff, clean and comfortable accommodation, newly refurbished in attractive style, breakfast available in room, central location. Grand confort room was of good size. Daughter's room (confort double for single occupancy) was so small that it was difficult to open the door or sit at the desk - just adequate for one person, but very small for two.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was very close to centre of Pau yet my room was very quiet and compared favourably with some of my colleagues who stayed at other centrally basded hotels. Breakfast was comprehensive and well laid out. Check in and check out were very efficient. Rooms are slightly smaller than expected
nothing The heat and Air didn,t work. The light didn't work. The window was very drafty. There was no internet, though the booking said they had it. The staff said it was being fixed, but I don't think t was.
The location is ideal although it is hard to get to by car. Even the taxi driver complained about the vehicular access. We arrived by train and would have walked but it was hot and uphill and the funicular was not running due to repairs. We did walk back to the train station after our stay even with several large bags. We ran the air-conditioning full blast and it did little to cool our top floor room. We had a room at the end of a very dark and narrow corridor. The light was not working in the corridor and it required a flashlight (which we happened to be carrying) in order to find the lock to enter or exit the room. We mentioned the problem to the desk but it was never repaired during our one-night stay.
The location. It was actualy very difficult to get there. We found that other hotels from the same area have their direction indicated.
the comfort, the helpful staff, the facilities the rowdy noise at night, from na earby nightclub and the street outside - until 3 and 4 am.- made sleep impossible in room 204
Staff were friendly and hotel spotlessly clean
Location It did not live up to the description on the site, It was a bit dated, shabby (not dirty), hot, small and not what we were expecting. We did not want to spend time in the small rooms.
nice & quiet At certain times can't get in the hotel without a code
Extremely central location, beautiful room and bathroom and a lovely receptionist !! The rather unwelcoming attitude from one of the guests upon our arrival and inspection of the rooms. He warned us that we'd better be quiet when returning to our rooms later that night. He was smoking in the corridors when we had been told it was no smoking throughout.
Clean, spacious Rear of hotel, dark, looking on to a walled-in roof area. We had requested a room to front of hotel. Disappointed.
remodeled room is well decorated location
Hotel well situated for the centre of Pau and all facilities. The room was large but generally needed modernisation and a face lift. Shower/WC facilities adequate but small. No air conditioning, which meant having windows open and the Irish pub over the road was noisy with students celebrating end of exams until 3am.
The location is very good. The hotel is situated in the city center and in the middle of the shopping area. Internett is available in the rooms. The hotel has not been renovated for a very long time. It is a nice place to stay only if you are on a low budget.
Very pleasant receptionist. Continental breakfast was copious and we were offered more coffee and bread. We were able to leave the car in the car park while we visited Pau although we had checked out. The bedroom was charming.
Location, comfort, quiet Limited hours of reception (closed when we arrived at 14:00)
The staff were very pleasant and helpful, the beds were comfortable and the hotel was clean. The town was easily accessable from the hotel as it is in a central location. I would certainly use the hotel again.
room was a bit quirky, having to be accessed from an outside balcony but was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was the best one we had on a two week holiday, spacious well equiped and modern. It is also in a good position for seeing the city. It took us nearly two hours to find, half of this was taken up on foot as driving is very difficult to a stranger and over half the streets are either one way or pedestrianised. it needs to be stressed in the info that it is only 50mtrs. from the hotel Bristol which we passed several times on our search and would have reduced the time it took to find by at least 80 percent. although we arrived in Pau in good time by the time we got to the hotel reception was closed (20.00 is far too early to close for people travelling). So by arriving at 20.30hrs and leaving at 07.45hrs we did not see any staff at all, not good enough. The entryway and stair carpets are filthy and badly need replacing, we nearly left before we had even got to our room.
Although quite confusing to drive to, the hotel is perfectly placed right in the city centre - ideal for exploring the city sights, and shopping. Our room and bathroom were spacious and clean, and the staff very friendly, and helpful - the receptionist recommended a great restaurant for our final evening. The hotel is currently going through a refurbishment - we didn't find it at all disruptive, but it would be good to let guests know prior to arrival as a courtesy.
The hotel was fine - once I got access to it. I arrived with a heavy backpack after a three hour journey and the last thing I expected was a Pau city centre hotel that was effectively closed from noon until 2:30 pm. There was a speakerphone beside one of the entrances but I got the feeling there was no way I could check in until after 2:30. Then, when I returned to the hotel in the afternoon, the lady had no record of the booking I'd made with your company three days before. In all, a most disappointing display. Be warned, this hotel does not have permanent reception staff on duty!
Hotel location excellent, free wi fi, staff very friendly, large bathroom which is unusual in budget accomodation. We arrived at hotel in 40 degree heat, room was not air conditioned, however a small fan would have been nice. Common stairway carpet was very dirty or perhaps even needs replacing.
The hotel was centrally located. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
