Pros: Very clean room. Great breakfast, made to order; like walnut apple pancakes, French toast, oatmeal, eggs. Wait staff excellent. Very quiet. Peaceful. We slept very well. Ralph, the owner, attentive to our needs. The student wait staff, Sasha and Paulina, we’re excellent, polite and attentive. Owner has remodeled rooms and they are comfortable and nicely done.
Cons: It is a little remote and it is older.
Pros: We really enjoyed our stay here. It is a beautiful and peaceful property. As I had read in other reviews, the room was spotless. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was superb!
Pros: Spectacular location and facilities! Our room was private, comfortable, and clean. And the restaurant attached to the facility is incredible. Felt like we were in the Alps.
Pros: The area/property is beautiful. Quiet, peaceful and serene. Firepits all over the property, which is an awesome way to spend an evening. Comfy beds, clean rooms, tasty homemade breakfast. Great water pressure in the shower. 2nd time staying here, and always pleased to see Ralph and staff. I highly recommend this place, and will be back!
Cons: No complaints.
Pros: Breakfast and having a peaceful spot were special.
Pros: The breakfasts are delicious and filling; the scenery is great; plenty of things to do there (tennis, hiking, bowling in a vintage alley). Also a nice bar where I enjoyed an excellent local gin. Dinners are delicious too - German food and many other options. Very relaxing stay.
Pros: My visit was a spontaneous one and all other locations were already booked so this was my only option and I was a little ambivalent. However, once I arrived my hesitations disappeared. I stayed for 3 nights and the breakfasts were always delicious, delightful and more than enough food. The servers are attentive and can't do enough for you. Also ate dinner there one night and that was also great. There is a dated ambiance to the inn, but is so clean and staff are so thoughtful and responsive that more than made up for it. If I need to be in the Catskills again I intend to return here. The owner obviously takes pride in his inn and all staff are wonderful.
Cons: We met many charming and interesting people at breakfast - many are returning customers. I intend to be one of them and can't think of what I'd change.
Pros: Service was attentive. Breakfast was wonderful
Cons: Their is a bit of climbing and gravel walks to navigate
Pros: Very nice and quite location. The room was very clean, neat, And very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.
Cons: That it was only one night. Wished I would've stayed 2 nights instead of one.
Pros: Very quiet place in the middle of forest. Many hiking paths in close proximity. We could observe black bear one evening.
With a stay at Starlite Motel in Big Indian, you'll be a 3-minute drive from Catskill Mountains and 9 minutes from Belleayre Mountain. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: I liked that the receptionist was nice. The Catskill Mountains scenery was beautiful. There was a basket of breakfast items provided.
Cons: There was some hair in my “clean” towels and there was dirt on my bed under the covers. The place was very much outdated and the walls were thin so we were able to hear our neighbors.
Pros: The accomodations were great and the staff very friendly and helpful.
Cons: Everything was great.
Pros: Clean and cozy. I enjoyed the private bathroom and kitchen as well as the breakfast basket.
Pros: Kitchen and breakfast. Close to ski area
Pros: Location location location. The full kitchen. The comfy updated bathroom. The cozy and inviting outside areas. We had two great nights of sleep.
Pros: Continental breakfast basket, coffee maker, toaster + full kitchen. Cable TV, Netflix, etc. Comfortable bedding. Excellent guest services. Close proximity to Catskill ski resorts.
Pros: Very clean and comfortable place to stay. The basket of goodies for breakfast is a great way to start the morning. nice rear yard on the property to relax.
Pros: Is is old but so cute at the same time and clean with a cute breakfast basket waiting for you in the room.
Cons: Just the beds .... not firm enough. The foam they put on top if the mattress make you sink in so not too good for your back .
Pros: Laid-back old-style motel with easy parking out front and the reception/office just a few yards away. Nice size kitchen at the back. There's also a cute garden area behind the rooms.
Cons: There's no shortage of countryside on the doorstep, but unless you're into outdoor pursuits the area has limited appeal. There are a few dining options in Phoenicia and Woodstock but for proper eating and shopping we didn't find anywhere nearer than Kingston, which is 30 miles away.
Pros: Very clean, all advertised amentias included.
Cons: Nothing to report
With a stay at Gateway Lodge Bed & Breakfast in Highmount, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Catskill Mountains and Belleayre Mountain. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Rooms were well appointed, property beautifully maintained with lush plantings and garden, easy access parking, excellent breakfast, great location, personnel very accommodating and personable, nice lounge area with very affordable liquids and snacks available
Pros: I really liked the place. it was like a family lodge, comfortable lounging areas, convenient location.
Cons: They charged me an extra $88.00 at checkout for my two teenagers, who I mentioned when booking... he said it wasn't part of the price... disappointing because it wasn't mentioned at check-in.
Pros: great staying
Pros: Management was really friendly and attentive
Pros: The owner was lovely and very accomodating and the room was quite spacious and clean.
Cons: Walking up two flights with a heavy bag and a bad back wasn't fun but that's what you get when you stay at an old inn with no elevators.
Pros: Rooms were clean and comfortable And staff was very friendly
Cons: Over priced
Pros: Feel like you are at home, very clean.queen bed is great, big and clean bathroom, stayed in room Dublin, good breakfast and wifi is fast.christine is excellent and friendly with guests. Keep on good job, see you soon and will recommend to my friends.
Cons: Pull out sofa was not so comfortable.queen bed was great.
Pros: Christina was a great and helpful host! Thank you!
Pros: Great location Friendly staff Comfortable beds Our dog Pickles also enjoyed her stay
Cons: I arrived at 1pm after a long drive, hoping to drop my things and change clothes for the wedding I was attending at 4pm. No one was there and the door was locked. Not a car or person around. I waited a while, walked around the lodge and the grounds to find someone. Nobody and no answer on their phone. It rolled to the cell of someone who said he was an hour away and didn’t know why no one was at the property. I drove 30 minutes to a friend’s motel to change for the wedding. There was an available room there so I booked it. Still don’t have confirmation from Gateway that they will refund the charge. I will update this review when I receive the refund.
Nestled in the Catskills, this hotel is just 5 minutes’ drive from the Belleayre Mountain Ski Center and features an on-site restaurant and bar. Various hiking trails are an easy walking distance away. En suite bathroom are offered in every guest room at the Pine Hill Arms Hotel. They are decorated in wood furnishings and rustic mountain decor. The Pine Hill Arms has free Wi-Fi access in public areas. Discounted ski lift tickets are available on site. The restaurant and bar serves classic cuisine in a casual setting. The beach at Belleayre Lake is 1 mile from the hotel. Hunting and fishing are 10 minutes’ drive away at Adventure Slide Mountain.
Cons: The room was plain plain plain. That I expected. I was, however, expecting more from the Inn, like a public room with a TV perhaps. They boasted their on-grounds restaurant, lounge & coffee shop, but all were closed on the 2 days we were there: Wednesday & Thursday. The coffee shop opened some of the time. There was never anyone there. It was like a Ghost Inn. And the collection of Inns and private homes around it were no more inviting. There were no outside grounds with the Inn to hang out in. Sorry.
Pros: Very nice rustic Inn off the main highway (Rt 28) tucked away in a sleepy little town with almost no street traffic in front of the Inn. Good selection of restaurants nearby and in the Inn itself. We chose this Inn because it was close to our hiking destination - perfect for our needs. Great value for the price and the bed was comfortable too!
Cons: Bathroom in our room was a bit tight on space and may be not be suitable for all adults. Other than that consideration, the room is quite fine.
Pros: Joe the owner is great. Very accommodating and friendly. The rooms were clean, no TV tho but WiFi is available which is completely fine for me. The restaurant opens only during dinner hours but the food is delicious! Fish and chips were amazing and so are the crispy meatballs...If you need a clean, quiet and affordable place to stay while vacationing in the Catskill then this is the place for you. Definitely coming back. Thank you again to Joe the owner for being soo accommodating!
Pros: Room was clean.
Cons: The building should be condemned.
Pros: Room comfortable and clean, nicely decorated with space for 4 guests plus luggage etc
Pros: The staff was friendly. the lack of a main desk was a bit confusing at first. I liked the coffee shop. Bed was comfortable but...
Cons: The sheets were not clean, there was course black /brown grit in the sheets. Kinda skeved us out a little. The window unit AC was not strong enough to to cool our room. Even right next to it. The decor in the front lobby was nice and homey but the room left something to be desired and was seemingly lacking in polish. The toilet seat was wobbly the shower was lukewarm at best at 715am. Between the ac and the bed grit my wife didn't sleep well despite the comfortable mattress.
Pros: clean, great value for the money
Cons: its an old building so everything makes noises but again-great value for the money!
Pros: Very secluded and close to some fun excursions!
Cons: Very small room. Decfinetly better for ski get ways, as far as room size is concerned. The room was fairly small and spartan.
Cons: how about a sink in the bathroom and a GOOD sized miror
Pros: Pine hill is a charming little old town in the Catskills. The place is old, the floors, slope, it's been getting some recent love from it's new owners. It incorporates a bar/restaurant and a lovely coffee shop. One of the owners used to work for Pilsner Urquell in what used to be Czechoslovakia and there is a lot of great Pilsner Urquell memorabilia in the place. We had a great time!
Cons: We were there in May - did great with just the window open. Don't know what summer would be like - or if they add window AC later in the season.
Pros: Charming old building in a great location
Pros: Room was adequate. Bed was comfortable. Room was clean. Staff were friendly. Waitress in dining area was very friendly and anxious to please. Food was delicious, inexpensive, and a generous portion. Bathroom was quite tight but functional. The management cared about our comfort. Our experience was better than expected after seeing the exterior and the surroundings.
With a stay at Catskill Seasons Inn in Shandaken, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Catskill Mountains and Belleayre Beach at Pine Hill Lake. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Cons: Small shower and a bit noisy in communal room at night
Pros: Room and bathroom were big and clean ( n.1 in main building )
Cons: Location bad Right next t to a road Overall not nice setting No one in before 3 pm Ac/electrical not working for some time in our room $200 a night too much
Pros: Sheets were soft. That was about it.
Cons: The room was outdated. The sofa had tears in it and looked like it was picked up off the curb. The TV was about 30 years old. There was a constant drip from the faucet in the tub.
Pros: Room was clean and warm.
Cons: I get it, it’s in the middle of no where so they had a monopoly oin the area. But for the price you pay for the room, a little extra effort would be appreciated. We checked in at 4:30/5:00. No one was around for check in and he restaurant was closed. We had to search for a restaurant for dinner. The beds were not comfortable. Even my daughter said, and she does not complain. No instructions for the tv, someone had to come and show us how to use it. At checkout no one was around and I called what I guess was the front desk, she kept putting me on hold and couldn’t answer any of my questions. There were other annoying little things but overall I wish I had chosen a different place that didn’t cost as much.
Pros: While the hotel is rustic, it really is a great location for a couple of nights stay in the Catskills. The staff and owner were very friendly and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The bar and restaurant buzzed on Friday evening and the food was top class (chicken livers scored 10/10)
Cons: One improvement could be the provision of fresh coffee for guests in the bar area in the morning.
Pros: This Inn was perfect for me and my friends. We booked this hotel super last minute but they were very accommodating to our needs and even allowed us to check in early to help us out. The room was spacious and when we walked in upon arrival you could smell just how clean it was. There were plenty of towels and pillows available so we did not have to ask for extras. The view from our back door was beautiful and made for a spot to sit and have your morning coffee. The kitchen and bathroom were very clean. Needless to say we were very impressed by this hotel. The staff were amazing and we will absolutely be staying there again in the future.
Pros: I didn't have breakfast there. The location was ok, but initially it was hard to find.
Cons: The place wasn't as clean as it should have been. The couch was not clean (had dog hair? on it and other food? spots and some of the towels were not clean (makeup, etc). We had to ask for other towels. The TV did not work and the cable could not be fixed until after we left.
Pros: Privacy, location, access, quaintness,
Cons: more modern facilities and Restaurant being open
Pros: Location convenient to the Taste of Country event in Hunter. Owner greeted us. Place is very clean.
Cons: Place was very run down.
Pros: Its my second time using this property and I love everything about it. I will continue to use this property. Love the fireplace, restaurant, staff and room # 23. I can’t say enough excellent things about this pace.

With a stay at Breezy Hill Inn in Fleischmanns, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Catskill Mountains and Belleayre Mountain. Featured amenities include wired Internet access (surcharge) and a library. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Beds were very comfy, and breakfast was excellent!
Cons: No a/c, but the weather was very unusual for the region. Not the inn's fault at all!
Pros: The breakfast was superb
Cons: The tv in our room was the size of an I- pad
Pros: Very comfortable. Excellent breakfasts. Friendly hosts.
When you stay at The Wheelhouse Inn in Pine Hill, you'll be in a state park, within a 10-minute drive of Catskill Mountains and Belleayre Mountain. Featured amenities include express check-in and express check-out.
Cons: Place is shabby, run down. No TV service.
Pros: New owners in process of improving property but The Wheelhouse Inn is clean, comfortable and friendly. Perfect location for variety of Catskill activities and in quaint little town of of Pine Hill with several eateries, historical setting (check out the beautiful library), and antique shops. As pleasant as (and cheaper than!) any nearby motels along Rt 28.
Pros: Great no-frills inn that's 5 minutes away from Belleayre in a quiet little town. There's water/tea/coffee available for the guests, but right next door is a great coffee shop that offers a small breakfast menu. Cynthia greeted us when we checked in and was very accommodating.
Pros: Very basic comfortable stay for one night. Close to some amazing walking tracks (giants ledge is a great walk with amazing views recommended to us by Cinthia) Cinthia was a very friendly welcoming host, would stay here again if I found myself back in the area
Pros: Bed was comfy
Cons: No air conditioning. Rugs need to be replaced
Pros: Staff was incredibly kind, welcoming and accommodating . Location is great, easily accessible.
Pros: Great location. Helpful and nice owners.
Pros: The location in Pine Hill was super convenient for my needs while touring throughout the Catskills. It is also just down the street from one of the best restaurants I have eaten at in a very long time. The bed and bedding were up to date and comfortable. The family rooms appeared to be more modern and commodious. The owners were pleasant and helpful and indicated they hope to do some upgrades in the near future.
Cons: I stayed in a "double" room, upstairs. This room is very small for two people, though perfectly adequate for a single. The stairs are a challenge for anyone, especially older folks with bad knees, and for carrying luggage. This room appears to have not been upgraded for some time (decades?) and the bathroom floor tile, in particular, needs immediate attention. It is important to understand that this is not "modern" accommodations. The Wheelhouse Inn takes you back to a different era of travel. If you want modern and pristine, this is not the place for you.
With a stay at Colonial inn in Pine Hill, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Catskill Mountains and Belleayre Mountain. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: This was a really homey place, yet nice and big. Everything I needed, comfortable bed, clean and maintained facilities, and all the essentials. The staff made it feel just like home! So welcoming and personable. The man, that was around the most, received my call back from the taxi service i attempted to reach and found out there was nothing available. So he offered to give me a ride himself! I graciously accepted, and when I attempted to pay him for his services, he insisted I keep my money! Great place, wonderful staff!
Cons: I wish I didn't sleep through breakfast! Haha
Pros: Thank you very much to Steve and his daughter for an incredible stay at the Colonial Inn and Restaurant. As someone who has never been to the Catskills, I can say without a doubt that this establishment treats their guests well.
Pros: Filled with antiques, quiet location, off the beaten path. Close enough to Phoenicia and Margretville. Excellent location for skiing at belleayre.
Cons: We liked it all. Quiet, cozy room. No tv in room, which was a nice change. Huge TV in community living room. Breakfast was excellent. Home cooked eggs, bacon, French Toast, juice, the essential coffee with to-go cups!!! Cold cereals, etc... staff was very friendly and accommodating. Visually interesting place to explore. Definitely worth a stay!
Pros: Lovely place, really special. The owner was the perfect host and breakfast was cooked fresh with some of the best coffee I've tasted If you’re looking for a friendly rustic hotel this would be it.
Pros: The owner & his daughter...amazing & sweet. The place is sweet, colorful & eclectic..beautiful in that way!!
Cons: The walls are a little thin but, we worked with that!!!
Pros: Extraordinary hospitality, homey feel, comfortable, great breakfasts, great location
Pros: Somewhat unique place. Friendly owner.
Cons: The place is basically a dirty dump. Also overpriced considering that you are likely to catch something...
Pros: Steve, the host, was super congenial and interesting conversationalist. The extensive antique collections were incredible. Sofas galore were extra cozy and the bar with pool table and darts provided a relaxing getaway, especially with the oldies but goodies juke box music playing free! Facility is 200 years old so it is dated but bed super comfortable and Steve's breakfast was delicious. If you like history and the unusual, this is the place!!!
Pros: It was very interesting speaking with the owner about the history of the Inn. His knowledge of the area was invaluable. You could spend hours investigating his collection of antiques. Every room was packed.
Cons: I wanted to see more bears!
Cons: Wondefull comfy place felt like home. Thanks steve for the decaf coffeee
