Pros: We had a great stay and the hotel was so historic and the town was adorable. The food in the restaurant was amazing! We will return.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We had a very relaxing stay and the location is just a couple of minutes from the harbor. Love the new rooms and it’s easy to track grab a bite to eat just next door.
Cons: Some highway noise. Parking lot was full had to park on the street. Room needs a easy chair to sit and read in.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location - less than 2 blocks from my son's house. Convenient to travel around Bay area.
Cons: "Fitted" sheet would not stay on the bed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect. Staff was very friendly and accommodating, while dinner was cooked perfectly. I can't wait to go back.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Good choices.
Cons: I found the walk between my room and the elevator to be too long for me as I'm aging. Next time I'll request being closer, but not next to the elevator.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable room with couch and a desk. Nice to have a kitchen when you have an extended stay, though ours was only four days. We were pleasantly surprised to find that on two evenings there was a reception with food that you could make dinner out of, along with wine. We were fortunate to get a room on the side away from the freeway. A friend with a room on the freeway side said it was a bit noisy.
Cons: The TV had a limited assortment of channels, and no programs that we are usually able to watch on our cable. The room had only one chair that could be used at the desk, so no place for two people to work at or eat at the desk. If you stay for several days it would be nice to have more variety in how eggs are prepared, and real bacon as a choice.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good and convenient. The hot food selection was somewhat limited and not quite hot enough, but still good. And the staff was very helpful.
Cons: Although the property was outstanding, the parking lot was problematic. The parking spaces are too narrow and hard to get in and out of, and then you have the problem of exiting your car with limited clearance to the next car.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Loved Everything. Spacious apartment and everywhere was exceptionally clean. Tons of available free parking with multiple entrances to the facility for easy access. Felt very safe and very friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast which was included for free. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone staying in the area. I would certainly return.

Cons: Price was high !

Cons: I felt the hotel did not have enough help during dinner. The gentleman showed the frustration on his face. I felt uncomfortable asking him to get things because he seemed frustrated. However he did his best considering the circumstances. Thanks hotel empl
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is well maintained, rooms are spacious, beds are comfy and bathroom is clean. The bar/cafeteria serve a limited selection but good food. Staff is very nice.

Pros: Hard to say...we hardly stayed there...but we did appreciate that it was very quiet.
Cons: I would not choose to stay there again! I have to get up 2-3 times a night and each time I got up, the motion sensor light would come on, lighting up the entire room!!! NOT GOOD for my spouse!!! There was no way to turn off that feature which will force us to choose a different hotel next time.

1.0 Poor
Pros: Beds were comfortable
Cons: Didn’t like the disorganization of the check-in process Didn’t like being overcharged Didn’t like having to go back and forth to rectify the overcharging Didn’t like the inhospitable/impersonal attitude of the staff Didn’t like the dismissive attitude of the Marriott customer service reps who covered for whatever is going on at this hotel. Word to the wise: TRIPLE CHECK all charges from this place. Mistakes and “miscommunications” that financially benefit the hotel seem to be rife.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Bed was cumfy.
Cons: Paying for an overpriced lousy breakfast. Bar was also way overpriced.
7.5 Good
Pros: The room and beds were nice
Cons: The first room we got reeked of onions so we changed rooms. Also the indoor pool was very disappointing. We thought it was an outdoor pool and could not get over that. What made it worse is that we were overcome by chlorine in the entire pool area

Pros: Awful smell in the hotel and even worse in my room. I was told that the carpet was cleaned but a clean carpet doesn’t smell that way. I could not sleep well because of it. It was not an enjoyable experience. I was delighted that I was not in the room during the day. I can’t recommend this hotel. They stated that the smell would go away eventually. I would not go back to this particular location although I have enjoyed the chain in the past.
Cons: Being away from the hotel. Many restaurants close by.

Pros: We needed a place to crash easily with our two cats after moving out of our apartment, and this hotel did its job. It was very cat-friendly and fine. The staff was very kind and accommodating. Parking was easy.
Cons: The location is right on Monument Boulevard, which was loud with traffic, and the bus stopped right outside our window. The overall cleanliless of our unit left a lot to be desired. The floors consistently left my bare feet dirty, and I had to wipe down our bathroom upon arrival (gross). They did not provide shampoo or conditioner (Is this typical of this hotel chain? I am unsure). We even had to ask for a "do not disturb" sign. The hallway smelled like the back of a restaurant's kitchen when we arrived. Very "budget." A friend who came by described the place as "seedy."

Pros: Location
Cons: We were told to park in the back lot of hotel for best access to our room. We returned to our car and found a busted out window& clothing stolen. Staff did NOTHING to help us; Liability is limited I know, but general assistance I was hoping for.

Pros: Comfy beds!
Cons: I checked in late and when I walked into the room the tv was on, a chair was in the middle of the room and the bed had been laid upon. While getting settled in someone tried walking back into the room but realized the door was secure, I opened the door just in time to see the maintenance man scurrying away. Doesn’t make a person feel so safe. I called front desk to advise them.....

3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing at all
Cons: ROACHES! First, I got a room on the 3rd floor there was no cellular service my calls werent coming through and the internet wasn’t working on my phone but when I’d go to the parking lot it would work so I know it was the room, I called and complained the lady told me she’d give me a new room. So she did, this one was even worse then the first one with its outdated old furniture and dirty stained walls. I left for a couple hours and came back to see a baby COCKROACH on the wall.. I was so scared I barely had time to get a good picture. I grabbed all my stuff and left I was only at the room for maybe 5 hours I called the desk and told them they have roaches in the room the lady said that I’d have to call the manager tomorrow cause she’s not in right now. I think I should get refunded for my stay will update on here when I speak with the manager tomorrow. Stay across the street instead or Hilton.

Featured amenities include express check-out, a 24-hour front desk, and multilingual staff. Free self parking is available onsite.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Free internet. Cleaning personnel was very friendly.
Cons: The shower, the water pressure was too hard it hurt as it hit my head and body.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: I really liked how friendly and helpful the staff members were. They would always greet me with a smile and provide me with the service I ask for. I'm also glad the building had a big parking lot since there seemed to be a lot of guests with cars but I didn't have to worry about not being able to find a spot. The amenities in the room were also great. For a relatively low price, the room had good furniture and appliances, so I was able to relax when I was too tired to go out.
Cons: The free breakfast was disappointing. It included coffee, wrapped pastries, and sometimes bananas. The location is not so convenient for sightseers or shoppers since it's right next to the freeway, so you really have to drive to get around. What really bothered me was the housekeeping service's inconsistency in timing. I expected service to be done while I was out during the early afternoon, but every time she arrived while I was in the room. I hope they improve their schedule for future guests.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Rude staff. Scary atmosphere. Bugs everywhere. Cup of coffee and a bagged pastry doesnt equal breakfast

Cons: The power went out for a few hours in the middle of one night of my stay - however, the staff dealt with the issue efficiently so it was not a major issue.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is super convenient near 580 and 80 (with parking!) but still secure.

Pros: The front desk worker was very helpfull. The check in process was quick and clear. We had a short but a good stay there, thank you!
4.2 Okay
Pros: The location was convenient.
Cons: Police on location upon arrival, no one would tell me if I should be concerned. I checked in easily enough, an was placed in a room facing the pool. Be warned, there will be kids running up and down the hall way screaming. The blanket was stained, the bedding felt old, as in not smooth anymore, more bumpy. The room was supposed to be non smoking, but definitely smelled smoked in, and there was a cigarette burn on one of the bed liners. The TV remote needed batteries, and keep in mind there is no shampoo, conditioner or hair dryer. And the mattress felt like springs topped with a thin cotton layer. Also, check out time is noon which is good, but what is not good is having 3 separate maids knocking at my door 3 different times waking me up to ask if I need room service on check out day.
7.1 Good

Overview Reviews
It's always a great time to visit our fabulous Martinez hotel in sunny California, where fine dining, shopping, the Amtrak Station, and downtown are right down the street. Hotels in Martinez strive to reach the bar set by our accommodations. Named after John Muir, the first naturalist who started Yosemite and Yellowstone National Parks, we're all about embracing nature. Hiking and biking trails abound near this Martinez hotel. However, we're also close to the marina for great fishing. John Muir Martinez led this area when it came to celebrating natural beauty, but we don't skimp on pampering. Martinis on the Plaza is an annual event. This favorite cocktail drink was invented here. The annual King of the Country BBQ and Music Festival is a classic. Bass fishing tournaments are fierce in this neck of the woods. If you're in the mood for some cultural treats, check out the national historical site that features the John Muir Association, his home and park. The friendly staff of this Martinez hotel are happy to help guests plan the ideal getaway. No other hotel in the Concord area boasts this kind of attention to detail. This Martinez hotel hosts numerous business travelers who are looking to add a dash of adventure to their trip. Employees of Contra Costa County, Shell Oil Company, Kaiser Permanente and the Veterans Health Administration call us home while they're on (and off) the clock. Complimentary full breakfast is served daily. There's no better start to your day. Book your next trip at the Best Western John Muir Inn and enjoy a vacation that blends nature with nurture!

Cons: I wish breakfast went until 10am.
7.0 Good

1.0 Poor
Cons: Bedbugs and no customer service
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and dog friendly
Cons: N/a
6.7 Good
Pros: Location was perfect for our quick trip to the freeway and bridge.
Cons: Feces was still in toilet when we checked in (Saturday, room 212) but we did notice there was kind of a back flush ourselves. But the housekeeper should have checked before leaving the room as "clean". It was not a good first impression. The beds were too soft and a bit lumpy. When I called the day before to ask for an early check in (for my 88 year old mother and 84 year old aunt) I was told the request was put in the computer and we could check in around 1:30 or 2:00. When we arrived at 2:15 (horrible traffic) we were approached at the front desk by a young, petite woman who wore a scowl on her face and did not look happy to be there. She was frustrated about checking people in. Not a great first impression when arriving at a hotel.
9.6 Excellent
Cons: Could hear highway noise
1.0 Poor
Pros: Front desk person was nice and the shopping center across the street was very convenient.
Cons: Dirty bedding, trash from prior guests left on floor for days in room, housekeeping did not replenish towels, hung our used wet towels in the shower, paper thin walls, rude housekeeping talking loudly at very early hours, loud if someone staying above you
1.0 Poor
Cons: These are suppose to be non-smoking rooms. They smell of many years of smoking and the bedspread had cigarette burns in it. A staff member informed me that they became a non-smoking hotel 1 year ago. They haven't done the work to be considered non-smoking
5.4 Okay
Pros: Clean Room bet the reservation number with not available
Cons: Couldn't find the reservation number plus I am a handicap person and they had me all away the 3rd floor as far away from the elevator as possible Mary marks in the reservation was totally ignore it when I got there I asked with its 1st floor Room nothing was available
6.3 Good
Pros: Location. Price a bit on the high side for the quality of the facility. Rooms were very small and a little worn around the edges

Cons: The tv remote was not working. Towels were soiled . Sink bowl needed cleaned.
7.0 Good
Pros: We have stayed there before. It is close to family that we were visiting. We knew exactly where it was and what we were getting. Prefer the Best Western down the street, but it is getting a bad reputation as unsafe.
Cons: Price, but then everything in California is over priced.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was conveniently located. It was not too loud and was comfortable. The staff was kind and helpful.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: New rooms
Cons: The management in the front office are snappy and rude. Double charge you if you don’t pay attention. Rent rooms to prostitutes and charge different deposits rates. Girls opening and slamming doors all hours of the night. Then when you call about an issue they are rude and try to make it seem like you are lying and etc! I will never stay here again! NEVER .
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The friendly staff and the excellent room conditions.
Cons: Nothing
1.0 Poor
Cons: The first room had furniture about 50 years old. Large area of melted carpet from an apparent burn. Found two bugs in the sheets. Hand towel was dirty and stained. Asked for new room. Wallpaper old and bubbly. Could not take a bath because the plug was too large. Desk person said I should have come up to ask for a smaller plug. Get completely dressed in the morning to walk up to the desk? If they had a plug that fit, why did they not use it? Bad attitude at desk. Did not want to even try the food. Will never stay there again.
4.0 Okay

9.0 Excellent
Pros: The owner and manager were very gracious. Our extended family had 3 different rooms for two nights. They are in process of finishing a remodel, and it was an excellent value. If you need to visit concord or Clayton, this is a good place to stay. They have coffee and breakfast on site. We had one small issue, and they helped us right away. Great customer service and very nice owner and employees. Thank you!
