Pros: Although a hostel, this one was way better then many hotels on our way through Spain and Portugal. Very nice and cosy, quality equipment and very clean. Breakfast was very good and varity of choices. All prepared freshly and top quality. We got really good advice for restaurants and activities. They are also prepared to help you reach the right people. Anything you need just ask. This was a perfect stay. If you are travelling through or near Peak of Europe or Rinha. Make this detour and take sometime. Spend it in this beautiful hotel and village. You will not regret.
Cons: Everything was just perfect.

Pros: New and ultra-clean hostel, with comfortable beds and good showers. The owner is very helpful and hospitable and can advise on local walks and offers a laundry service. The best bit is the lovely bar/cafe attached and the home-cooked food. Delicious and excellent value. Also essential, as the other restaurants in the village rarely serve food. Lovely bakery opposite too.
Cons: Nothing.

Pros: We were met by Natalia she was lovely, we parked up the bike and had a well earned drink in a lovely courtyard, very rustic and lovely and quiet. We had a lovely room over looking a river with 2 sets of french doors and a small balcony on each set of doors. Very clean and I loved the rocking chair.
Cons: When we got into bed we had a memory foam mattress which is my least favorite mattress so we had a bit of an uncomfortable night. Other than that a lovely rural quiet atmospheric place.

Pros: The staff was especially nice, friendly, and helpful. The room was comfortable, clean, and quiet. It was on a main road, but the road noise was not bad at all. I had great views. The bar downstairs was especially hopping, with some locals, tour guides, and even the police stopping by. And of course, tourists too. Overall, great spot, would stay again.

Pros: Hostal Bar Stop is a hotel squarely located in the community. If your approach is: "When in Rome, do as the Romans do." then you'll love this hotel. Friendly staff, good value for money, a bar full of locals and a bowl pumpkin seeds with a beer. Brilliant.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: The two owners were very helpful & welcoming, going out of their way to help & give local advice. The food was traditional & excellent, also good value. The hotel has a nice relaxing & friendly vibe to it.,
10.0 Excellent
Pros: After a hard day's riding through the Picos this was the perfect place to rest and recover. The owners were great, extremely hard-working and really helpful particularly ensuring our bikes were safe and secure overnight - although I suspect we could have left them outside and they would have been fine. Portilla is a tiny but nice village and this is reflected in the facilities - we found one other bar. The food in the Albergue - dinner and breakfast - were great and was complemented by a small but well stocked bar. The room was comfy and ensured a great night's sleep.
Cons: Not dislikes but words of advice - this is a place of peace and tranquillity so if you are after the Club 18-30 experience I suggest looking elsewhere.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Good ‘value for money’ hotel clean, comfortable and very welcoming small family run hotel. Riaño is a small remote town but an excellent tour stop over, especially as a first or last night stop on the way to or from the Santander Ferry Port ‘Depending on your sailing times’ Street Parking outside which we were assured was safe for our Motos (there were upwards of 10 bikes on the street) No Air Con or Fan so beware in the High Summer months, however the altitude makes for cool evenings most of the year. Nice bar, good breakfast good value.

Pros: Friendly welcome, good size bedroom plus a great terrace. Wifi offered (didn't use it), hairdryer possible on request at reception. No problem to store our bikes in garage. Dinner was standard Spanish food, well done & very reasonable price. Basically we had everything we needed under one roof.
Cons: Breakfast was weak - a croissant, orange juice & coffee. Hotel is just out of Guardo (we did know this in advance) however it's on a road that isn't suitable to walk on, so if you need anything from the town it means using transport.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The management
Cons: It was outside of town and we were walking.
5.8 Okay
Pros: The host was very friendly and helpful and definitely a big plus for the location. The hotel is located on a local road and is well booked. There is ample space for parking.
Cons: The noise insolation is rather poor, one could hear the talking, walking, snoring and TV from the neighboring rooms (and beyond). The room was not cleaned well, there were hairs in the toilet and the bidet, the bathroom itself was a bit dated. Breakfast selection was not great, but this is rather common in many areas of Spain.

4.5 Okay
Pros: Nothing really.
Cons: There was no prior indication that this hotel is in fact part of a religious shop on a pilgrim route high up a mountain. This place is extremely austere. I was kindly offered food but it was tasteless and reminded me of a school dinner from 30 years ago! I was put in a tiny room with a low cross beam and banged my head many times. The owner was good enough to lend me a tool box to fix my GPS but he also charged me a whopping 10 Euros for a tube of toothpaste that tasted foul. I would not visit this place again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A little gem of a place. Four of us spent two nights here whilst motorcycling around the Picos de Europa mountains. We all agreed we should have made it our base for longer. Not much in the way of facilities, but we knew that when we booked so we weren’t disappointed. Great location to explore the mountains. No problems parking in front of the hotel. Staff were excellent, making a lot of allowances for our almost total lack of Spanish! Rooms were clean and cool (it was 35 degrees when we arrived). Cheapest place by far with great food in the restaurant. Tables in the garden overlooking the river at the back of the hotel were a pleasant surprise. On the whole, our favourite hotel of the whole trip.

6.7 Good
Pros: Good size room, excellent food (both dinner and breakfast) and although the staff spoke little English they were very helpful and friendly.

Pros: We used this hotel as a waypoint going through the mountains for which it could not have been at a better place directly en-route. We highly recommend this hotel to any motorcyclist who need a good place to stay while going through the mountains.
Cons:

It was a memorable experience and a really good value for the money.

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel, large rooms
Cons: When booking the hotel, it made me book two room for three people. When in fact there was a bed sofa. We all stayed in one room so the other room didn’t get used so a complete waste of money. Breakfast could of been better but had worse.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel staff was very friendly and so helpful. The breakfast was free and okay. The property was very pretty.
Cons: The smell of the scented candles or the air fresheners that were scattered about the hotel were too strong and not a pleasant scent.

5.8 Okay
Pros: The staff tried to be helpful.
Cons: Booked 10/11/17. Arrived 30/06/18 (after a day on a ferry and a 2hr drive). No restaurant or bar because of a wedding party. Those two things were one reason we booked this hotel. Not a lot of good when nothing else is nearby. Why didn't they e-mail us?

6.3 Good
Pros: The room was very cool on a hot day. We walked into town for food and found a lovely local bar doing tapas. Well off the tourist route but we love that.
Cons: It clearly stated that there was the option of evening meals but after arriving on two motorbikes and having a drink at the bar we were told that there was no food available. When we arrived they had a large function happening with no staff available to check us in for quite a while. Very disorganised and no English spoken apart from one man behind the bar in the evening only.
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Nice clean room
Cons: Curtains all different sizes one longer than the other. Defiantly not a 3 star hotel Breakfast very basic
6.0 Good
Pros: There was freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfast.
Cons: Terrible breakfast, no cereal, chorizo, salami, jamon and sliced cheese and yogurt left out in overheated room :( Had to wander around to find staff. Awful white sliced bread. On the second morning there was no cheese, cereal or butter, plus 1 slice of bread left in the bag. Had to search for staff to ask if there was a possibility of cheese, I don't eat meat. I would have liked another cup of tea, but I was fed up of wandering about looking for staff.

Cons: Nothing
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Really nice hotel in Riaño, which has absolutely stunning views of the mountains and the lakes/reservoir. Didn't book breakfast or evening meal but had a nice lunch on the lovely terrace to the rear of the hotel. My room was on the small side but big enough and it did have a stunning view from the window. The hotel does have private parking but there is ample parking on the street where I parked my motorbike, along with a dozen or so other bikes.
Cons: Only stayed one night.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Character and views
10.0 Excellent
Pros: can park the bike in the basement so it was locked away for the night. good base to take day trip out to the mountain roads
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location and views.
Cons: Dark, bathroom wants a good clean.
6.8 Good
Pros: Location was great and parking was easy.
Cons: The restuarant/bar attached to the hotel served us a hamburger that wasn't cooked. I asked him to remake the burger but they just brought it back warmer but still raw inside. I was not impressed with the level of professionalism in the bar....especially with a hotel guest.

Pros: Room was a lovely, big size, dual aspect windows, with views across the street and down the street. The bar was well frequented by locals. Free tapas with all drinks, cheap drinks.
Cons: No downside at all

Pros: Despite the language barrier the lady behind the bar at night was excellent.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: First of all, the daily menu that they provide at the restaurant was excellent. I arrived after a long day riding the motorbike in the Picos de Europa mountains and the dinner there was a fantastic way to end the day. The girl from the reception (although she doesn't speak English) is so nice and helpful especially that she has a lot of work to do in parallel (serving at the bar and at the restaurant). The room is clean. I got parking for the motorbike in the locked garage at the basement of the property, for free. It was the only time in a 3 week trip when this was provided at a hotel.
7.5 Good
Pros: Very comfy bed. Quiet location. I had a great sleep and the restaurant was a bonus. Great for a stopover.
Cons: Slightly off route.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were excellent, very accommodating and extremely helpful. The room was a decent size with very comfortable beds. The bar downstairs was friendly, at one point a guy was talking to us and the bar staff checked that he wasn't annoying us, that wouldn't happen at home. The food we had was tasty although we didn't use the restaurant.
Cons: The bathroom was small.
7.0 Good
Pros: The hotel is a good base to discover the surrounding national parks, be prepared for some longer car rides in narrow streets though. Parking in front of the building is no problem. Rooms are light and clean, price is ok.
Cons: No hairdryer in the hotel (in case of very cold evenings and mornings it would be great to have at least one at the reception). Waiter / Barkeeper lady at breakfast unfriendly and ignoring guests. Breakfast very minimalistic and not included.
