Beautiful Location A very nice resort in a beautiful location. The grounds were large enough to have lots of activity...or find quiet areas to relax
The restaurants and the pool areas No shuttle service to get to and from town and the airport
Place looked good. Really Clean. Grounds too big. Too much walked by to get anywhere. Staff pretends to care but really doesn't Beware of the tours they are very misleading Not a whole lot too do on the massive grounds Very reminiscent of a low budget cruise ship. A lot of money spent on beauty of hotel but not anything that benefits the guest. Food ok at best No beach besides the man made one. Which is not actually on the beach. The ruins look man made and there are rocks all along the real beach. Don't expect sand. There is none. Don't expectt any major benefit to staying here because of proximity to Excaret. There isn't a major benefit because you have to pay extra for Xcaret just like anyone else would. The unlimited experience is a trap to get you to go for 3 days. Don't waste your 350.00. I could go on and on. We complained about things to staff to no concern
Very nice and relaxing! All the outlets in our rooms did not work well.
The staff was absolutely amazing. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The rooms was very clean, comfortable and spacious. There was also ample supply of pool chairs towels and drinks. I never felt like I had to fight other guests for any of these things.
staff was very courteous and service was good and speedy. i thought the recreation was poor. i thought the it was a beach front hotel and the little beach was tiny and water sports were only allowed in a boring little lagoon. so i did get a little bored. also, breakfast was a very poor selection and the receptionist booking ala cart restaurants was very rude.
You can't possibly find nicer people. The staff is extremely friendly and as accommodating as possible. Great atmosphere for families, or with a significant other -definitely not for you if you are single. Beautiful location and maintained pretty well. Great poolside bartenders! Resort almost completely shuts down by 10pm no matter what night of the week. Found ourselves bored which is unfortunate considering we chose this place due to the amount of activities and what we thought would be nightlife. The food was horrible. At every restaurant....even with the privilege option. Good value, great location and people but wouldn't return due to the food.
The Resort was GREAT! Plenty of food and drink. There are many restaurants to choose from and wide variety of foods. The buffets were good, plenty of selections. The five specialty restaurants were very good with the Tapas at the top of the list for us. The staff... WOW!! they were GREAT. Very friendly and helpful. The And there were bars everywhere to satisfy your thirst. The wifi was spotty. And the beach was very rocky. You needed water shoes to get in without hurting your feet. There are only a few spots without the rocks.
Walk up to any bar and get a drink (well of course, top shelf extra) FOR FREE! Well, it's included. Needed more dedicated adults only sections/pools.
This was a great place to stay. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome every day. The entertainment provided ranged from a rock concert on the beach to magicians and clowns. The food was good, the room was good, the scenery was good, and the beach was great. There is a reef in front of the hotel which made for great snorkeling. We walked to the marina and the shops about everyday. We walked down the beach to a couple other resorts to look around and quickly decided that the Dreams was the best by far. This resort is VERY kid friendly which makes it a hands down choice for families. We will definitely go back!
The hotel is old and the restaurant service is terrible , it takes 1 hr -and sometimes longer- to get your food .
The hotel is all right, it is really small and there is not enough events to keep you busy (they repeat a lot every day). The restaurants are just Ok, I bet you can get a better place with much better food for less money. The hotel pictures does not really show what you really get. We pay for ocean view and we get only a view of half of another apartment and half trees and some blue spots. The Italian restaurant is quite good but the other ones are just Ok. Be prepare to expend a lot of money because any event is really expensive. For the dolphins I really advise you to go to the Marine and do not use the one close to the hotel.
We started off on a bad note with this resort. Arriving on a Friday, the resort was ok, but we realized quickly that we should have booked an adults only (we have no kids). It just so happens that the resort offered us a promotion to switch to one of their adults only sister resorts (Silversands or Maroma). No strings attached, the offer was that we would stay the night at Dreams, then check out in the morning and be transfered to whichever resort we picked. In addition to this we would receive a voucher for 6 free nights at the resort. I had heard good things about Silversands, so we decided to transfer there. We kept our bags packed and just kinda ho-hummed around the remainder of the evening. Getting to our room we realized the bathroom door wouldn't shut, and the shower leaked. Thinking we wouldn't be there but one night, we just dealt with it. Saturday morning we woke up, had breakfast, and headed to the main lobby to check out. After waiting for 20 minutes to see a manager, they finally informed us that they couldn't transfer us to Silversands until Sunday, due to the fact that there were no rooms available. I then asked if they could transfer us to Maroma. The manager called but they were full. I asked why they offered the promotion in the first place and stated they would transfer us Saturday when they could not fullfill their promise? The manager only said, 'I understand you are upset, but we will transfer you in the morning.' I was extremely mad! Mostly because we couldn't unpack due to leaving and couldn't really relax because of the whole mess. Basically we lost 2 whole days of a relaxing vacation. :( After being informed we would be staying another night, we asked to have the bathroom door fixed. They had to pull off the upper retainer & part of the wall above the track for the door. It looked like a construction zone! Then our safe stopped working, and we had to call someone to come fix it as well. Food was mediocre at best. Staff (besides the front de...
We just returned from staying at Dreams Puerto Aventuras. We LOVED the resort! ALL of the employees were so very nice/friendly/fun. It was a great experience. The entertainment staff is unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!! We had way too much fun! The food was great also. Lots of activities if you want to keep busy instead of just laying on the beach. All the employees were the best. Twice a day maid service (without asking), great Spa, shopping close by, never a dull moment!!! Our only complaint, which is not the fault of the resort, is the noise level late at night and into the early morning hours. The party people/late nighters liked to congregate right below our room on the steps leading out to the pool area and it was very hard to sleep. We got up and said something to some of them and called the desk a couple times. The lobby area was very noisy too during that time. Unfortunately, you can't fix stupid and some people just don't realize there are people trying to sleep after midnight.
I expected more luxary from a Dreams resort and more entertainment choices. What they did have was good they just did not have enough variety for a 9day stay. Our room was adequate but it did smell strongly of mold and on our last day we actually saw mold on the ceiling of the bathroom. Staff were fun and friendly. Food choices very limited and portions very small. Others at the resort we met said that the Cancun and Cabo location Dreams are definitely better
Great resort. Friendly staff. Food quality is amazing(especially at Brazilian restaurant). Plenty of activities for kids. Professional night entertainment (not like most hotels that give you hotel staff shows). Pool was quite dirty especially later in the day. Beach was nice considering it is a Mexico coast line. Definitely will go back.
Overall it was very good. More english tv channels would be nice .
Wonderful place to stay-------------------Enjoyed it very much!! Staff was always helpful and friendly-------------
Stayed 4 days on our way to Cancun. Dreams P.A. was a great way to the start of a 10 day vacation. Resort was on the smaller size which we found was a plus. Everything was just a short walk away. Checkin and checkout were very quick and efficient. Did not linger to hear the sales pitch and it never came up again throughout our stay. We had booked a marina view room but were delighted when they gave us a free upgrade to an ocean view. Thought it was our luck day until they brought in the dolphins and released them into the waterway at the marina making our original room now a dolphin view.... The pools were very clean but cold and the beach small but lovely. There was plenty of shade to be found if needed. The bar service was great and so was the food especially at Portofinos the Italian restaurant. We did have a few problems with the room. There were several times whem the toilet would not flush and most of our stay where the shower would take an hour to drain before wife could take a her shower. The room itself was nice size and the bed was super comfy. The employees were always very pleasant and really strove to please in ever way. Kudos to the entertainment team who strove to keep the day moving along they really worked with all age groups. Overall this was a very relaxing and enjoyable resort with good food, good drinks and good people. Would love to go back someday.
Only one complaint, but I feel it's fairly significant... My time is valuable. Only half of the restaurants are open on any given night. This resulted in waiting an hour and a half to get seated for dinner or being stuck with going to a buffet. I get it, if you only open restaurants on select nights they can reduce costs by not having to staff a couple of them. Additionally, the delay in seating encourages people to go to the far less expensive buffet where the food was average at best. I've stayed at the Dreams in Puerto Vallarta and was ecstatic about my family's experience there. Upon check-in this time, we were told that our room wasn't ready and we'd need to wait about 20 minutes. We came back in 25 and were told it would be another half hour. We waited the additional 30 minutes and STILL had to wait another 15 minutes. The staff in Puerto Aventuras was INCREDIBLE just like in Puerto Vallarta, but managements decision to cut cost in staffing at the expense of a vacationer's anticipated free time is enough for me to book my next trip elsewhere. Also, one night between 5:30 and 6:30 ALL of the restaurants were closed and your only choice was an hour long wait for room service. The all-inclusive resorts in Mexico are bountiful. If your time is valuable to you, choose a resort other than Dreams.
Our stay was for a wedding we attended. The hotel was smaller, but still provided a lot for the size. All the restaurants are included with no reservations, but the food was good compared to great. Portofino was the best. The buffet was just eh ok. So, there's a bit of trade-off there. The room service was great and always came when quoted. There was no pressure to tip-but we did. There were more kids here than we preferred, but there were kids in our wedding party. It was a fantastic wedding venue location. Location was great overall. Premium liquors are served. Make sure to book a transfer because no taxis will go that far from Cancun. We dove the Cenotes, went to Tulum, and went to Xel Ha with ease. Overall, good time.
Our room was gorgeous Shows were great Food was great Loved how we could walk out to 5th Avenue Most of the staff was friendly Beach was well kept Pool was freezing I felt like they were always trying to sell something to us Small pool Crowded beach Beach chairs were old- they need some serious updating!
The service, food, and location were excellent. The staff were genuinely happy to be of assistance and always greeted us with a smile.
Parts of the grounds were very stinky
Staff very kind and courteous. Animation team is so fun. Wish it was less expensive.
Food, service, entertainment. Everything was perfect in my opinion. Nothing
The staff were incredible.. Beautiful resort, good good options Horrible Horrible Smell from ocean like sewage. It was extremely hard to enjoy the beach. No eating at the pools
Everything. It was amazing.
The only thing that was lacking in quality were the bed sheets. For a 5 star resort the sheets were old and covered with pill balls. Also I don't like the fact that people get up and "save" chairs early in the morning without even sitting there during the day. The system should be when you leave the lounge chair you take your saving towel so someone can sit there and use the chair. Most of the time there were approximately 2/3 of the chairs empty just being "saved". This is not necessarily the fault of the resort but of people just being rude.
Amazing...and I always choose 5 star resorts. One of the best I've ever experienced. The hotel should do a better job of explaining all there is to offer and an initial tour...it really has excellent offerings, but we had to navigate/learn a lot on our own. It would have been helpful to have more information upfront.
This was one of the best all inclusive properties I have been to. Room, staff, food, pools, bars and entertainment all were amazing. I loved the hydro therapy as well. Plus, as a bonus, the front door was right on 5th avenue, allowing us to shop, go to bars and grab off resort food. If you are looking for a chance to get both all inclusive and experience Playa Del Carmen, I highly recommend the Royal! The beach was horrible - rocky and full of seaweed. However, as I personally hate sand and salt water, this did not bother me in the slightest. This actually made my stay better, as we stuck to the pool, bars and 5th avenue.
The food was pretty good. The staff were nice. The inability to get reservations at a reasonable time, especially when your friends would tell you there were many empty tables.
The facilities are awesome. Great Beach, Bars, Restaurants, and Pools. Kids had a blast. The staff at the front desk and premium desk were horrible. Not friendly and not helpful at all. For such a nice, luxury hotel this is unacceptable. We also experienced unhappy staff at some of the outdoor bars and of all people the girl handing out the towels. If you don't get a dinner reservation which at times is difficult even though the restaurants are never full (funny because you try to book a reservation at a prime time, the staff says they are completely booked), you have to suffer through the awful dinner buffet. The entire management staff at this hotel should be fired or retrained on how to be helpful and polite.
It's a really nice hotel, good food & great selection of branded alcohol! Would reccomend it if you would like to relax and get good value for money. But do book on internet, dont try to go to the hotel with no reservation as they have much higher prices No complaints really, all good! But coctails are far too sweet so you need to explain to barmans exactly what you want!
Beautiful location, lots of trees and wildlife :) you feel like you are away from the world and on vacation. Rooms are clean, beds are comfortable. Not too crowded. Adults only. Very good entertainment staff from Vera Club offering nice activities (yoga in the morning, dance lessons, water polo etc). Juice bar on the beach was great. And the waitresses serving the beach and pool area are fast and polite, asking you if you want more drinks all the time - which is great when you are in vacation. Food was average. Nothing super exciting. The Asian restaurant and tapas bar was probably the best. The waiters and service are not as great as in other 5 star hotels - slow and unresponsive, not always with a smile ( most didn't look motivated, perhaps it's the tip situation since most of the Europeans in the hotel don't tip). The beach is very nice, although the sea had a lot of seaweed when we were there in August. And the little cherry on the top - Catalonia has this new concept of premium service so some of the areas, restaurants, best seats with best view and quality liquor were not available to "regular guests of a 5 star hotel" and only available to "privilleged ones" -seriously I would change the choice of words - you don't want to hear "sorry these seats are only for privileged guests".
Pool bar service was great
Supurb beach, great facilities, quiet and relaxing, adults only, lots of variety in the food, which, for the most part, was well prepared. tv reception was poor to non-existent but free wifi was great
Excellent location. A relief to be at a resort for adults only. Excellent staff, surprisingly excellent food and services. Highly recommend as a place to decompress in a few days-we were there for 5 nights and enjoyed everything except gaining a few pounds in weight!
Wonderful hotel all inclusive. Fantastic beach, good staff, nice bars This hotel is not in Tulum or close to it. It's in the middle between Playa del Carmen and Tulum. They've not windsurf available as they tell.
This has been our favourite beach for the last 13 years. We have been to the hotel for 9 years, the hotel has improved , we still enjoy the beach and sea most of all.
The resort is on the small compared to others but I like it better because you can walk anywhere in just a few minutes and the staff gave us excellent service! The grounds are very well maintained and there is wildlife everywhere, also the beach is beautiful!!!! We got the privileged package which gave us access to a wonderful beach front restaurant called bloved which had excellent food and drinks! Will def visit again! they train the staff to push their time share pretty hard and they will try to set an appointment for you to attend a one and half hour sales presentation, we had just arrived to the hotel and wanted to go to our room after a long trip so it was a little annoying to sit in the lobby for 20 min with the person trying to set the appointment.
The entire experience was mind-blowing. The food and drinks were ever-flowing, and unbelievable, the activities were fantastic, and the resort itself was one of the most beautiful I've ever stayed at. The language barrier with some of the staff was a bit of a drag, but once you found the right people it was smooth as could be.
BEACH! Absolutely fantastic beach. White sand as far as the eye could see, as well as in the water. You stand in white sand in the ocean which is great and also its very clear. I was standing in chest high water and I could see my toes. Plenty of chairs for everyone and plenty of room to spread out and relax. Room and bed were very comfortable and shower/bathroom were good as well. If your trip is for great relaxing beach this is the place. The food was pretty sub par and the wait staff was very slow and often forgot to bring your drink. They were all very nice just inattentive. They served the same quality of food and the buffet that they did in the restaurants so there really isn't a point to them. If your trip is to be wined and dined, this isn't the place.
The food at the grill was excellent. Awesome pool area and good drinks. Great value for the money. Beds could be a bit better. The mattresses were not very supportive
Resonable price for good service.Good location. Only one of 3 restaurants has a realy good food. This is close to the sea-side restaurant. Two others is suitable for breakfast only. Fresh water is very poor quality. It's realy salt.. And for drinks also.
Uncomfortable beds Horrible food Unfriendly staff
Food and drink were excellent. Staff were friendly on check in but not so friendly when checking out. The rooms are a little outdated for what you would expect in a 5 star hotel.
Staff was always cleaning Had a couple housekeeping issues, only have two choices for beer
The Iberostar Tucan / Quetzal is one of my favorite resorts in the Mexican Rivera Maya. The dining buffets are fine, and there's always some food offered that you've never tried. It's fun to experiment with new tastes. This was my fourth visit. The staff are very courteous and speak several languages. The fun begins with the jungle in the center of the resort. A large canopy of trees with well lit winding paths takes you from your room to the waterfront pools. New additions this year included a balcony overlooking the flamingo pond, a boardwalk in the center of the jungle, and a new waterfall with Mayan statues hidden in the rocks. The wild animals living in the jungle run free and appear tame, but you are warned not to feed them. Peacocks are everywhere, and you can get some great photos of the males spreading out their huge feathers. If you stay near buildings 14 and 13 expect to have howler monkeys swinging through the treetops to get to their feeding areas. They wake up at dawn with ferocious howls that remind you that, yes, you are far from home and now in a tropical paradise. A surprise this time was the renovation of one of the buffet restaurants, what was once an intimate rustic buffet is now a separated modern glass and steel food service area with a longer walk to your table. I preferred the rustic design but was told Iberostar plan to remodel the other buffet restaurants with the same bright white modern sterile design.
The grounds are beautiful, impeccably cleaned, the jungle animals are fun to watch. Nothing I would change
The beach and pool are amazing and HUGE! The food in the restaurants was excellent. The food at the buffet was good. They did a great job of trying to include foods at the buffet that would appeal to guests from all countries, and it gave us a chance to try different foods that we would never typically order in a restaurant. There were always snacks and ice cream available by the pool, which was great. The entertainment staff, Star Friends, was amazing! They work around the clock to entertain the guests and always seem to have activities, games, or shows going on that are actually entertaining, whether you're participating or just watching. The nightly shows were a bit hit or miss, but they get an A+ for effort and enthusiasm. For some of the shows, they brought in professional dancers or entertainers and those were excellent. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The refrigerator was restocked daily with water, soda, and beer. The drinks were weak, but we liked that since we could drink all day at the beach and all night at the bars without being too affected by the alcohol! The disco was a great place to listen to music and relax at night after the shows. It wasn't very busy when we were there, but the bartenders were amazing and so friendly! We never felt pressured to tip anyone, and they almost seemed surprised when we did tip them. Overall, our trip was amazing! This did not bother me, but it is not a fancy "luxury" resort, so people with extremely high standards or expensive taste might want to stay elsewhere.
The facility was outstanding. A great place for the family. Wonderful staff and a perfect location close to downtown. Lack of entertainment. Food could use some improvement.
We were pleased with the variety and quality of the food from the Sol/Luna Grill restaurants except BBQ night. La Palapa del Sol's main food is buffet. We are not buffet people. Many of the better items on their full service menu cost extra for the All Inclusive people.
The staff were incredible. Great, personalized service from all of the staff made this stay exceptional. The facilities were modern, clean and well kept. The activity equipment was available and in good condition and the beach/poolside areas were clean and comfortable. For the most part the food and drinks were excellent. The buffet food was typical of what you would expect of a resort/hotel buffet but the poolside restaurants and bars had excellent offerings. La Rotonda bar had great sushi and wonderful service. The Los Murales restaurant was phenomenal. The food was excellent and the staff was attentive and pleasant. Had an issue with my original booking but the customer service department of the hotel was able to work it out after a few phone calls. The WiFi wasn't the best. The signal was strong around the resort but connectivity was often poor. When we were able to connect, speeds were acceptable for email and limited web browsing. The whirlpools are quite cool- barely warmer than the pool itself.
