Nothing Bad location. Poor staff. Unsafe. Not for families. Avoid.
After flight from Los Angeles, arrived with luggage at front door of B&B at 10:30 pm. Rang door bell and was told No room available. Upon showing reservtn/confirmtn made to wait 15 mins outside on porch while mgr called owner. Told no rm. Asked to go to Brooklyn prpty instead. Said No. Then told to wait upstairs in kitchen for 40 mins. while mgr spoke to owner again. Finally @ 11:45pm offered a rm with no explanation of mix up. Unbelievable. Never had this occur before, Ever. Not mgr's fault but owner of B&B.
No thing to like..! 1. Place 2. Manager is very rude 3. Crapy bed - broken 4. Full mosquitoes 5. Hold credit card details- No refund - if you see the place - if you don't want to check in
No one was at the door when I arrived around 8:00 pm. I called the phone number multiple times, but no one answered. In the span of a 5-10 minutes while I was checking to see if the host was home, I was stung by at least 10 mosquitos. I ended up leaving without a refund or ever seeing the owner.
The breakfasts were great on the lovely patio, room was well appointed .(typical nyc small, but lovely). Keurig coffees, responsive staff Of course, no fitness area or pool, but this is a charming boutique place and not supposed to be like that. However, the lack of a lid on the toilet seat in this small bathroom means filthy spray on flushing everywhere, not to mention the constant knocking of stuff into the toilet; one of the dumbest oversights in an otherwise decent hotel room. The ac is average- we were not even there on the hottest of summer days, yet our room was hot and muggier than the hallways. The ac is weak- so if you want a cold and nonhumid room, stay away from here.
The bed was fantastic! Really lovely room and bathroom
The staff was exceptionally helpful, friendly and accommodating. Their treatment of us as guests was truly wonderful. Room was well laid out and comfortable. The view of the courtyard was lovely. Nothing...just lovely
This is a nice little place that looks more like your apartment than a hotel... No running into crowd at entrance/elevator/hall. A very comfortable atmosphere near Broadway shows and restaurants and central to so many other things. The employees were very helpful and friendly... A very enjoyable stay.
We were in NYC to see a play, dine, and shop. The French Quarters Guest Apartments was located central to everything we wanted to see and do during our brief two day stay. We will stay there again the next time.
The French Quarters Guest Apartments lived up to our expectations and then some. The quaint boutique hotel was perfect for our stay in New York. It offered great location, a clean, comfortable room with some key extras such as a fridge, coffee maker and continental breakfast! We would certainly return! Although the room has a tiny kitchenette there are no amenities to go along with it - dishes, glasses, cutlery etc.
This hotel is very small and the internet does not reflect this clearly enough. Our first night the toilet was blocked so we had to go through the whole night without a toilet working - so we left after the first night and went to a different hotel for both reasons. Could not stay in this small space for 8 nights.
The location was great, felt like a bed and breakfast in the middle of Manhatten --Was not feeling well - and had to spend more time in our room than would have liked --- thankfully, the room was so beautiful that i was glad we had chosen such a great accomodation we were in room 103 - although the room was beautiful - the noise level at night was extreme --- had we stayed in a room in the back of the hotel it may have been quieter - i was woken 3 times after 1 am with people yelling in the street..... came home exhausted
The French Quarters exceeded my expectations!!! The location on Restaurant Row can't be matched. The staff was exceptional..friendly, helpful and efficient!!!! The room was large by nyc standards, well- appointed, clean, well-kept and an absolute fantastic value. I will be going back!
Convenient location in theatre district, clean rooms, comfortable beds, L'Occitane toiletries, small hotel with friendly staff, great breakfast included
We've stayed in Manhattan loads of times, so fancied trying somewhere a little different. Wasn’t sure what to expect, but very pleasantly surprised. It’s a 5min walk from a subway station that’s 15mins into Lower Manhattan. The local area also feels very safe, even in the dark, early hours of the morning. I would also have to add that the lady who owns/runs the guest house is absolutely lovely and very helpful with suggestions that only the ‘locals’ are likely to know about and very knowledgeable about the local community, which is brilliant. Give it a go if you want to experience something different to the typical Times Square budget hotel or international student hostel. Great flavour of what life is like “living in Brooklyn”.
What a pleasant surprise! A handsome turn-of-the-century town house on a tree lined street, a short distance from downtown Manhattan. The rooms are nicely furnished, the host is personable and seeks to make the guest comfortable. One has to climb stairs, but that is a small price to pay for the charming atmosphere. NO!
staff was very friendly, rooms were nice, quiet.
Very friendly and helpful owner. Decent rooms, good value for money if you do not mind sharing bathroom with other guests. Good connection to Manhattan by metro (25 minutes, station about 250 metres).
Handsome building over 100 years old. The integrity of the building has been left in tact, so the room sizes are a little odd, but worth the atmosphere. Lovely back garden sitting area. Excellent hostess. I'll stay here again.
A lovely b&b in brooklyn. Very good friendly hostess, great room with very comfortable bed. Very close to Manhattan and centrally located in brooklyn with beautifull prospect park around the corner.
I liked very much the kindness of people and the friendly atmosphere. Also the neighborrood of the hotel is cool far from manhattan center. No toilets in the room
This is a very informal, very freindly place to stay. You will arrive and wonder if you`ve made a big mistake-HOWEVER-you will leave being glad you booked. After spending each day in Manhatten it was great to get back to a real community. This is real Brooklyn-NOT the upmarket version at the Brooklyn Bridge area. We found the location very convenient. If we go to ny again we will stay here--that says it all.Not perfect, but more than adequate.Owner/manager(Zenobia), very freindly & helpful. Not a lover of shared bathrooms or connecting doors between other rooms even though they`re locked.Nothing at this hotel would stop me from using it again. Your initial reactions to this area & hotel will mislead you-I was scared-but could not have been more wrong.Used all the local amenities, day & night & felt safe & secure. No signs up to say this is a hotel.Us British would refer to this as a b&b, or a Boarding House.
I liked the house and Xenobia (the owner) was lovely; the decor was good. I would go back for sure. (NB this is written by Olly Meller-Herbert, for whom I booked this room. I did not stay there myself; Rachel Meller)
This was a beautiful old house, very nicely decorated with antiques and original art. The owner, Zenobia, was very warm and kind, and took good care of us. We had a comfortable, pleasant stay.
Charming B&B. Felt like I was staying with friends even though I was traveling alone. Incredibly personal service. Charming rooms. Quiet house in easy access to all of NYC & Brooklyn. I highly reccommend this place!
