The Breakfast Room was a little small for two adults to move around each other.
The bed was very comfortable with a lovely warm duvet and comfortable pillows which is a rare treat when staying away from home. We booked a superior room which was spacious as was the bathroom and both were spotlessly clean. Facilities in the room were good including free telephone, digital TV and wi fi. The cooked breakfast was excellent and set us up for the day.
Our stay at the Moortown was made with the friendliness of the owners and the cleanliness of the establishment. Also information about the local location etc. None
Family atmosphere, excellent friendly service
newly decorated rooms with luxury linens, and everything you could need was provided.
Very confortable home from home - charming small hotel/guest house with excellent breakfast and impeccable interior.
The great quality bed linen and towels and decor
Very friendly and helpful
Very high standard of decor and facilities etc Excellent food Just a small point. A couple more sachets of coffee and milk would have been helpful so we could have had a drink both on arrival and in the morning. As it was very warm it would have been helpful to have been able to open the window in the bathroom
cleanliness, very friendly room too close to the road. room too noisy
good customer service rooms quite small
The hotel was very comfortable. The service in the restaurant for breakfast was not good.
Leisure facilities £15 to pay for car parking. No mention of this until we had arrived. Staff could be a little overzealous. We received the bill for our evening meal before we had had our dessert and coffee and our table was cleared while we were getting our cooked breakfast
Nice spacious room and spacious general areas staff were very obliging. Could not control temperature in room which got very hot. But in fairness that is a problem a lot of older hotels have.
It was a disaster. We could not stay. We were given a room next to their waste hold area. The window would not open because all the rubbish bins were just outside. The room was tight and horrible. We left immediately. See our comments of 'what we liked'. Terrible hotel. Needs total modernisation, as location is good. Need new staff, training, etc. avoid staying there at all costs!
A very comfortable bed having to wait in line to get a breakfast table
Received room upgrade. Very good service
The breakfast was very delightful, lot of choices and they do cater for vegetairans and those who use soya milk. The spa facilities were good. However, I would say that the hotel needs refurbishment and some area needs modernisation. Being told that we are limited to one towel each by one particular member in the spa club. This was not the case with other staff members.
Location was great. Very close to restraunts, parking, the Bournemouth Pier and Bournemouth Park However, if you are looking at the cheaper rooms you be better served by Premier Innnext door. Service was poor at the front desk and breakfast and breakfast whilst adequate was not at the quality I would have expected. Staff were very disjointed; my pregnant wife asked for some decaf-tea for our room and was advised "the bar might have some". Would have expected them to sort it out. Room location was in the back of beyond with stair only access. Cheaper rooms at this hotel not recommended.
I liked the atmosphere, facilities and the staff who were most helpful and friendly. I did experience some problems with accessing my room with the card that was provided to me. It often didn't work and this caused me some inconvenience. I would have been much better off with a good old fashioned key! However, the staff made every effort to resolve this problem by upgrading me to a different room with a sea view. I considered this to be outstanding customer service.
old world charm but shows signs of fading service in Oscars restaurant fell well below expected standard
The buffet breakfast was superb, especially the honeycomb. Im the first room we were given the central heating was not wotking and we had to move to another room, but nobody came to help us with our luggage and we had to carry it all ourselves - not what one expects from a 4-star hotel especially as my wife and I are in our late seventies
Central location very limited carparking hotel needs a make over, quite dated
Welcoming staff for English speakers but noticed lack of skill at reception for foreigners ie rapid, complex sentences, given once, no body language or reference to local town map etc. I saw two foreigners bemused despite being given instructions which only I could just follow. A little bit ot raining might help! Just a friendly observation - not meaning to be too critical!
Everyone was helpful & friendly. An ideal spot for all locations in the area.
Decor very very tired (corridors & bathroom) It was a typical old fashioned "seaside" hotel... the bathroom hasn't been changed since the 70's (nasty pink suite) and had a mouldy/damp smell. The room also felt extremely draughty and cold, despite the heating being on! The staff were friendly enough though. So to sum up, it is OK for one night.
This hotel offered free WIFI & Parking, and the room only cost £32! The receptionist was very helpful and friendly and I got a free room upgrade. The food in the diner was very good and well priced. Can't really work out why people were moaning, the price is fantastic and everywhere is very clean. Yes, the hotel is a bit dated but its comfortable and the cheapest around so well worth it for a short break. everyone stop moaning and pay more if you expect 5 star services At best, the floorboards outside my room were a bit creaky and there was no blind in the bathroom, which didn't particularly bother me
when handing in my key the receptionist could not give me a receipt for the room have requested copy but by 6th July still waiting
The staff and the breakfast were superb. The bedroom smelt, believe it emminated from the mattress. Arrived late too tired not until next day the smell had ingressed into clothing. Decor poor and needs complete refurbishment.
a up grad of room free of carge noizy nabbears but was lookd aferter
we found the location ideal for the shops and theatre. The breakfast was very good and the staff very polite and friendly. creaky floorboards and the housekeeping staff started vacumming at 8.30 in the room upstairs. Also building work taking place although this was probably reflected in the price we paid.
the pool and sauna .breakfast the room was an insult ,bathroom outdated and very dirty shower unfit to use . plugs loose on walls wallpaper a disgrace ,torn and dirty.
Location was excellent and great value for money. Luxury stay and would definitely stay again. Added bonus of being upgraded but that shows the excellent customer service provided, would definitely recommend to friends and family
The room was fantastic and very comfortable Breakfast was very disappointing, not very edible
Good location, great view from room with balcony and very friendly staff.
The bed. The view of sea. The alfresco eating around the pool The abcence of a shower. The lack of promised sauna in facilities advertised in sister hotel.
The shower was cold,in both rooms that i booked, & the radiator did not work in room 203
Sea view, pibic areas had been extensively refurbished. the bedrooms were not of a similar standard as the public areas and are in need of refurbishment.
Opulent public areas, excellent staff
yes as previous reviews - lift scary. hot water very hot and could not cool down shower. cold water warm. toilet cistern took long time to refill,
Hotel and room clean and warm and adequate. Breakfast good Although a warning was given water took a long time to heat up (more than 10 minutes for shower) and then only luke warm
Relaxed atmosphere, helpful staff, good meals and good value for money Food portions a bit small
Ideally situated for visiting family in Ferndown Very tatty appearance inside, especially corridors and room. General feeling of lack of cleanliness. Old TV with only four channels and the remote didn't work well. The shower curtain was too short and kept clinging to me n the shower (urgh!).
Very convenient location, right on the seafront. Nice rooms and the whole hotel was pleasantly decorated. Staff were not particularly friendly.
It was comfortable and easy to find.
Service, food, location, surroundings
Staff excellent, food excellent. Room good, what was even better was that they accepted our dog. Would have preferred ground floor room, unfortunately we were above the function room with a party that went on until 12am.with loud music. Would definately stay there again
It is close to ringwood where we have friends everything was satisfactory for us
The staff were very friendly and nothing was a problem to them at all. no complaints whwt so ever and the bed i sleep in was very comfortable indeed.
good service from breakfast and resturant staff en suite is tired needs attention to bath panel, shower head and bath felt dirty. room lights were so dim i felt like buying a torch.
Good all round hotel. although Dog friendly (we took ours), there was no evidence of previous doggy residents... cleanliness was v.good although hotel is obviously well used
Very convenient for thew purpose of my visit. I will stay again
TV did not work
Freindly & comfortable
Both the staff and food were excellent. The bathroom needs modernising.
Great staff and comfortable hotel nothing
Quick and courtious service no smoking but will just have to get used to it as it will soon be law
We booked a superior room, but we would rate the room as standard. The shower was poor, the bathroom tiny, the door wouldn't lock, and overall just a standard room.
The Hotel was excellent, within easy walking of the BIC, and plenty of parking. The staff were excellent, very friendly, and service was very good. Our room was comfortable and quiet. A super selection for breakfast, overall a most enjoyable stay.
Meal served by friendly staff Room quite cramped
Friendly hote. Superior double was nicely decorated with little balcony- can't expect 'views' as surrounded by other hotels. Restaurant very good. Staff particularly friendly. Near enough to both prom and town. Would go back.
lovely hotel, great staff.good position, food very enjoyable.this was our second visit and it defenitely wont be our last!! bar prices.
went to a show at the b i c
Friendly staff. Value for money Nothing to dislike
The organisation of my sons wedding was great. The ceremony and the facilities we used made it very special. Some areas needed to be refurbished..... which was a shame.
The reception and lounge area was very attractively decorated and inviting. All the staff we dealt with were very pleasant and helpful. The bedrooms were very basic and the blinds in our room were broken in places. The room was also at the front of the hotel so was quite noisy, however it was clean and warm.
It was very clean and modern and the staff were very friendly No food in the evenings. There was no sound proofing in the room, when the people came into the room above it was like they were sat in the room with us
We stayed at this hotel to attend a wedding and reception. The Orchid has excellent facilities for both weddings and wedding receptions and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
Good Scrambled egg and service at Breakfast.
the setting and breakfast sqeaky floor boards and windows were hard to shut.
quirky decor, good parking, spacious public areas, very pleasant restaurant, friendly reception, good last minute room rate, excellent location. had to have breakfast one morning in less pleasant nearby sister hotel; mattress rather thin
The hotel was very clean and the location was perfect for the beach and shopping.
Location, comfort, cleanliness, good food and friendliness of the staff
Plasant, good dealings with staff - very satisfactory from that side of things. Room was in good condition, very clean, but so small moving around was difficult.
Nice room veiw, nice bed, Lovely bar! no bad experiences!
Reception staff friendly and helpful, good sized room, clean, excellent sea view. Lovely breakfast and attentive waiting staff. Very good location. Found a good price through booking.com
It was directly across the road from the BIC where i was heading for an event, and it was an amazing feeling being able to have an amazing night out, and then to walk across the road and come home. Room was beautiful! I loved the mirror in the bathroom. No complaints, only to say that the parking is not behind the hotel, its over the road in the shopping mall centre - however saying that, the hotel give you a key and you can park in a secluded area.
Very friendly and helpful staff. The room was excellent with a sea view. We would definitely stay here again and I will be recommending the hotel to family and friends. Thank you very much for a very enjoyable stay whilst I was celebrating my special Birthday!
Staff was excellent; when the heated towel rack in the bathroom didn't work, they upgraded our room. Bed was very comfortable. Shower was excellent (not in all rooms, but in the upgraded room). Wonderful location, with its view of the English Channel and a one minute walk to the pier. Five minutes to walk to the heart of a shopping district.
The breakfast was very good The room was in the basement so no view. had to park your car across the road not in the car park in the hotel - even though you have to pay extra. the deal you had for booking on line was the same price if you booked on the day - not really a deal!!
during our stay we enjoyed everything
Location was stunning, friendly staff, great facilities. Our room was freezing, needed more staff. Quite expensive to stay there.
Enjoyed the pool, it could have been warmer, as it is small needs to be warm enough to just play around in, the temp it was you really needed to swim a lot, not dig enough for that.
hotel was clean and staff friendly central heating was noisy, i requested a 4 poster bed and this was agreed but i never had it when we arrived, also over priced accomadation
friendly staff, good location no
The cups were small.
relaxation Given there was a notice warning guests to boil the water, complimentary mineral water in the room would have been nice.
Peace & quiet
we went horse riding, swimming, sauna, relaxing, lovely staff lovey break would go back again
Friendliness of all staff, very good food, very relaxed A very small bedroom and uncomfortable bed, rather like being on a springboard! Smallest bedroom I have ever had in a hotel
