Cons: The breakfast is served only in a very small part of the restaurant, with tables very close to one another and no privacy. There are no tableclothes, only mats on the tables. Restaurant staff not proactive, dirty dishes will be left on the table unless you request to take them back, request which is received with some display of disappointment. The use of the pool is allowed only until 19:00, it would be nice to enjoy it a little longer.

Pros: A big thank you for a wonderful stay. What did we like we loved the room with wrap around balcony, the location was great for everything in the area and the breakfast with a spectacular view.
Cons: its not we didn’t like but it could have helped if there was a kettle and some complimentary water. It would have also been nice to have the option to have dinner in the hotel on our first day after a long trip but because of the celebrations the restaurant was booked and there was no room service available that night. If we had been pre warned we could have reserved a table.

Pros: Once you get into your room you start seeing this hotel was very well programmed and thought, and the longer you stay the more you confirm that impression. Besides that, good taste is everywhere, the materials are of very good quality, organisation is impeccable, meals (incl breakfast) and drinks are excellent, everything is good! Localisation for me is also the best it could be (2 min walk from the lakefront in one direction, 3 min walk from city center in the other).

Pros: The staff is super friendly and forthcoming, everyone is smiling all the time. Our rooms were clean, breakfast was great, and there was always ample pool seating available. They have a deal with a bike shop nearby where you get 10% off your rentals. Neat. You can store your bike in the hotel's bike garage (remember to bring a chain lock though). The spectacular Ponale road is at 5 minutes by bike, if you feel a bit more adventurous you should check out the Tremalzo trail. Parking space aplenty. Oh and they have a ginger cat, Orestre. Cuddle her for us, Luise!

Pros: The Hotel was the best on our trip. We informed the hotel that we are on our honeymoon trip and were so excited that they remembered us with a little something :). After that we saw a lot of different details what made the stay just pleasant we felt the hole stay really taken care of. Thanks to the all the staff

Cons: We were a family of 6 in three rooms and we didn't feel that the standard rooms that the kids were in reflected what was shown in the photo's. They were beyond basic and quite cramped actually. So although I would really recommend the hotel I think the standard rooms are not good enough.

Cons: Unpractical room despite the very nice design: lighting overall very complicated, bathroom unpractical and too small shower, unpractical bathroom sink, no coffee in the room, air conditioning blowing cold air behind the curtains instead of in the room, too small bedside tables, impossible to close the bedside lamp except by pulling the plug, etc... No coffee in the room. No garage for the car. Since we had a junior suite we could park the car next to the reception but outside. Other guests had to walk +-100 meters with their luggage.

The food at breakfast time was excellent with so much choice. In the evening, we ate in the hotel's restaurant Aria on three nights because the food was so good and the restaurant is so well run and managed. Pros: We chose this hotel for for a relaxing few days after a cycling tour from Bolzano to Lake Garda and feel we couldn't have chosen anything better. It is a beautiful hotel with very private and peaceful gardens and pool area even though very central and lakeside location. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Excellent breakfast. Wonderful spa. Would highly recommend.

Pros: We stayed there a week in late August. We had 2 rooms for the family. One was a suite with 2 balconies and a great view of the mountains. Our suite had a sauna (which is ununual). It was very clean so I imagine it was quite new. We spent some time by the pool. It never got very busy and it was clean and well maintained. So it was a nice treat to look forward to afternoon returnng from shopping/siteseeing. The holel have some free bikes that allows you to travel around fairly easily (locks are provided). Most bikes were fine but a few were overdue a bit of maintenance. They also offer free local travel on buses, and were helpful with getting the tickets. We went to Rovereto which wasn't really touristy but a nice quiet Italian town. Breakfast is self service but caters for Brits and continentals with almost everythig you could want. On Thursday evening they held a very nice buffet with live music. There was a good turnout from the hotel guests for this. Visitors came from Italy, Europe and the UK, so there was a good mix. There were some youngsters but the kids were all quite well behaved and it wasn't really noisy. The location is great and just 15 minutes walk along the lakeside into town and all the great restaurants. There are also some great walks/cycle rides in the area too, some of which have stunning views. Finally what distinguishes this hotel is it's staff. There were all very friendly and super helpful during our stay with information of booking tickets/taxi etc. I would have no hesitation in recommending for a nice quiet break whether you're into relaxing or more adventure in the mountains or on the lake.

Cons: The bed was really bad. It probably cost less than what I paid for one night in the suite! It's not only that it was too hard and the pillows were too soft, but it had bumps that felt bad and when my wife shifted, I could feel my mattress whole mattress wobbling. I get that the bed in normal rooms can be below average, but the suite bed should absolutely be upgraded.

Cons: As we have small kids (8 months & 3 years) we felt a little sorry for our neighbours when our young ones had a ‘moment’ as I’m not sure the rooms are as soundproof as listed. We felt rather ‘not worthy’ and uncomfortable by a particular staff member from the breakfast room who continually looked at us disapprovingly and tutted when our baby would drop her spoon on the floor or our 3year old wanted to go look at the pond- I think he may have an opinion that children are to be seen but not heard. We would have preferred the pool to be ‘walk in’ accessible, which I thought it was as it stated ‘shallow end’ in the description (my mistake).

Cons: I didn’t dislike anything about the property but for the price we paid (490 euros for 3 nights)the room was tiny and reminded me of a travel lodge. 2ft either side of the bed and the foot. The shower ran hot and cold in 30 second cycles. The lighting system was terrible and turned the main lights on when I tried to go to the bathroom in the night. Don’t understand why people rave about the spa. Pool was not warm. Fairly standard facilities. Maybe I’m spoilt. :) If id known the room would be that small I would have opted for budget accommodation instead.

Cons: The hotel is beautiful but, the super central location, in an old building, brings also some disadvantages regarding the rooms facilities. Beside the main bedroom, we had two bunk beds that were not very comfortable (too small size). I would preferred an extensible sofa in the room, instead of this type of beds, which I consider dangerous for small children. Also, it is unpleasant that there is no shower that can be held in the hand, there is only the one fixed in the ceiling. I think this problem must be solved.

Pros: Perfect location to see and adventure all around Riva del Garda! The rooms are very modern, comfortable, and the bathroom was great with a normal hair dryer. Breakfast was included in my booking and it was wonderful. Loved the coffee! Everyone that worked here was friendly and helpful. This is the 2nd time I have stayed here and I would definitely chose to stay here again when I come back.

Cons: Staff not willing to help very much. Hotel parking was full at arrival, so car needed to be parked in the street 2 blocks away from hotel during first night. I asked to borrow a simple wine bottle opener and they couldn't lend me one, neither at the bar, nor at the restaurant. And they refused to open the bottle for me, even that I'd drink it in the room. In another moment, they could no get me a cup with ice (I was able to get it in the restaurant of the hotel next door).

Cons: Stayed for a week at this place. Communal places are nice and modern, restaurant is OK. Bar area modern bad no decoration at all. Rooms are well outdated. It brings you to the 80-90s. Not very comfy bed. Staff in restaurant and bar are nice and polite. Can not say the same about receptionist! Very arrogant, rude and totally unhelpful. Have been told there is no space for our car in car park and its not guaranteed! Haven't been informed about it on arrival! When we asked what to do, she just said 'I can't help at all. You have plenty of opportunities on streets!' No advice, no directions, nothing. When I start complaint, she become very rude, with arrogant behaviour. When I asked to talk to boss she said its not available ( have seen him not long after welcoming new guest's!!!). And she said I can talk to him in the morning. I agreed, where after she asked if I speak german. When I said I don't, only english, she just laughed ironically (apparently he speaks only Italian and German). So this person ruined our holiday at the very last night of our stay! I don't think we will ever come back and I cannot really recommend this place either.

Air conditioning that didn't go off which caused the whole family to get sick. Location is great, but the hotel is lacking in care. For families with children I recommend another hotel nearby.

I prefer staying in small friendly places rather than grand ones but nothing much else was available at our time of booking. On arrival informed at reception were informed that we had been upgraded to a suite. I don't really know why. The room we were given(room 500) really is superb. It was at the top of the hotel with 365 degree views almost like being on the bridge of a ship. The bed is raised and mounted in the centre of the room to make the most of the wonderful views. Breakfast was the usual buffet affair with a good choice. We came away hardly believing our luck! Thank you Grand Hotel Riva!
