Pros: The Room was lovely, with a lot of added touches which really made a great impression - for example, dressing gowns, a drawer with toothpaste and headache tablets and band-aids for travellers who forget to pack these items. Also welcome snacks and individually wrapped rusks with coffee, tea, sugar and milk. The bathroom was lovely, with great towels. Highly recommended. Great value for the price and it definitely did exceed my expectations.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed our stay at the Ballinderry so much and regretted only booking one night with them. The owners were wonderful and made us feel very welcome. Do not miss out on Hildes 3 course dinner, it was one of the best meals we had on our trip and for such a fair price!!! They have an adorable dog and a huge garden that offers a lot of privacy if that’s what you’re looking for. The bed was very comfortable and big enough for 10 people to sleep in, the bathroom was clean and very spacious.
Cons: Nothing to complain - the perfect stay!!!
7.5 Good
Pros: A lovely guesthouse full of details. The owners are very kind, service and customer oriented, it‘s been a pleasure. Pool and garden area are very nice.
Cons: We booked the comfort room but didn’t like it. It’s very small and not really comfortable. When you open the door you‘re literally at the car parking. If you stay there and are willing to pay more go for a different one.
4.6 Okay
Pros: The food was of a very high standard and Luc's personal attention could not be bettered.
Cons: The sunken bath.

Pros: A beautiful guesthouse, excellent decor and friendly and accommodating owners. Breakfast is included with all tastes catered for, including a glass of bubbly! Guests can opt for an in-house three course dinner which is always delicious and well presented. Can't wait to return to Ballinderry The Robertson Guest House.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice and cozy
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about BAllinderry is above exceptional. In a quiet easily reached location Ballinderry is in its own grounds with scure parking and pleasant gardens and pool. All the rooms are immaculate and stylish without being obtrusive. The owners Luc and Hilde could not be more pleasant or helpful, delightful people who work ridiculously hard to provide top quality accommodation. Special mention for the food. Wonderful breakfast with much choice and a 'special' which changes daily. The star performance comes in the evening when you have the option of staying for restaurant standard dinner cooked by Hilde. You'd be an idiot to miss it! Example: Quail in consomme, springbok loin with rissoto and wild mushrooms/truffle sauce, possett and sorbet. WOW! (and for around 370R (£20+) amazing!
Cons: Nothing could be better

Pros: Great food and breakfast
Cons: All good
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful, the garden rooms are lovely, clean, spacious, comfortable and modern. The restaurant was great and the garden setting stunning.
Cons: We first stayed in the maisonette room, which was not a bad room but the walls are quite thin and the sound from the office and the adjoining room can be heard, when we mentioned this to the owner she found us another room which was way better.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was incredible. The property was very nice. Super clean and comfortable. Staff are super friendly. Recommended highly!!

Pros: I loved our stay here and would highly recommend it. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and the accommodation clean as well as welcoming. It is situated just our of Robertson but in a good location that allows you to reach the surrounding towns easily. The breakfeast was to die for!

Pros: Great views! Great breakfast! Clean and neat rooms. Nice fireplace in room to create a cosy comfortable feeling! Will visit again!
Cons: Everything was great!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff, food is fantastic. We slept like babies, best bed and linen ever. Overall we had a very pleasant stay and would definitely recommend your guesthouse. Thanks again for letting us feel at home.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The gardens here are really beautiful - wonderful walks and good birding too. We had a Owl outside our bedroom! The restaurant was really good - without this the property would not be as good because of the distance into the town of Robertson for a meal.
Cons: Nothing really - but without the restaurant I would not stay here.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was very tastily put together but almost too much so we didn't overindulge the 2nd morning. The Dinner experience was also excellent - little different presentations and in between tasters make for the special treat experience - most impressed with the chef. The extra thought put into the emergency toiletry pack and darker facecloth to wash make up off with - excellent female touch.
Cons: If anything - I preferred walking on the grass for a softer feel in comparison to the gravel paths - easier to walk on between rooms and restaurant. I would also have like a small bar of soap in the bathroom.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Everything about the experience was what we had hoped for and more. Friendly, humble host and owner Carlos showed us to our cottage, staff were welcoming, cottage was beautiful and clean, location was the winner. Sitting on the porch viewing the beautiful mountains and valley was breathtaking to say the least. If the weather was warmer I could only imagine how relaxing it would have been to have been able to enjoy sundowners in the infinity pool.. See you all in summer..we will return.
Cons: I guess not being able to stay longer...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: To be honest, we went into the Orange Grove Farm with an entirely different set of expectations than what we got surprised with. This place is understated in the description. Carlos and team are genuinely nice hosts! Everything, including the drive to the cottage, the facilities in the cottage, the trek in the vicinity, the elaborate, satiating breakfast and braai dinner, the smooth Portuguese wine, and the wonderful company of Carlos and his staff, made for a perfect stay for us. Thank you, guys! We will be back for more soon.

Pros: Beautiful establishment with breathtaking views and very private due to the spacing between the cottages. Breakfast was excellent and all the baked goods were extra fresh and delivered warm

Cons: Nothing at all
9.6 Excellent

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous fireplace and bath
Cons: Poor mobile network and complimentary wifi did not provide any internet access
7.5 Good
Pros: Great facilities and hiking. Pool and dam were a bonus.
Cons: On arrival, the receptionist (albeit new to job apparently) could not tell us which unit we were in between 2 side by side units even after asking several times, so we chose the first one. That same afternoon the manager, without introducing himself and after we unpacked, came to quite rudely tell us we in wrong unit. Made us feel very uncomfortable and became quite argumentative, even after we explained the incompetence of the person in office. Never have we checked in where they cannot remind us where we are staying. Both units were anyhow identical inside. Real pity as the rest of our stay was great.

9.2 Excellent (146 reviews)
Overview Reviews
Located in Robertson, De Oude Opstal B & B is within a 5-minute drive of Klipdrift Distillery and Robertson Golf Club. Free self parking is available onsite.
7.9 Good
Pros: Breakfast was adequate
Cons: We did not like the 2 single beds pushed together. It slid apart - very irritating We wanted to bath - there was no bath soap, separate shampoo - only the dispenser in the shower. We had to use the (almost empty) hand soap dispenser at the basin. The box used for tissues was empty. And I especially did not like the Africa decor in the bedroom. Robertson is known for its wines - definitely not the Big 5. The garden is unkempt, and not due to a lack of water - it is disturbing. This is a 4-star property. And the garden furniture on the stoep is screaming for a lick of paint.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: It is quaint and lovely with beautiful views and friendly staff.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Country charm with all the city comforts.

Pros: Randrivier suited our needs very well. It is part of a fruit growing farm and we could walk between rows and rows of peach, apple and pear trees. Our hosts were friendly and we were served an excellent breakfast. Altogether, a very comfortable stay. Randrivier is located at the edge of Robertson and therefore finding a restaurant probably means going by car, This did not bother us as we did not need a restaurant that evening.

5.8 Okay
Cons: No microwave, single beds pushed together to look like double bed, lighting too dark
7.5 Good
Pros: The location was perfect - close to Robertson and wineries
Cons: The cottage was advertised as having a double/queen bed but it was only two single beds pushed together with a opening in between. Water was dependent on electricity which meant we did not have water most of the time due to load shedding. I understand load shedding is out of anyone's control. It would just have been nice to be informed of the fact that water will also be off during load shedding slots.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: comfy beds, simple but suitable furniture, personal attention from the owners who were warm and friendly, beautiful mountain views and wonderful chrisp air like being on a farm

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was a real surprise and a treat to stay in a beautiful Rondavel at the back of a farm near to the main guest house. The pool is right outside and shared only with the other Rondavel on the site which was unoccupied so we had the place to ourselves. The owners accommodated a shift in our booking and met us when we arrived to show us around. The area is beautiful, deadly quiet and dark at night. For those who need Wifi it worked great and was fast. We'll absolutely stay here again.
Cons: Just a little more outside lighting at night as it was deadly dark but it's not a negative, just a suggestion.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: Conveniently located in Robertson. Quite location. Very hospitable host. Adequate breakfast. Fridge, WiFi, TV in room. Secure parking although a bit limited on space if large vehicles are parked. Clean and tidy. Seven lovely dogs!!!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything else. The hosts are fantastic and Paul is full of interesting information about the area and hey booked me into probably the best steak house in the area, saving the the pain of yet another fast food meal. Facilities top notch, probably the most comfortable bed I've slept in since I've been here and the view out over the garden to the mountain range is amazing. I could waffle on forever, but, if you waste too much time reading this, you could be missing out on experiencing it for yourself.
Cons: That I only stayed one night.
8.8 Excellent

Pros: The jacaranda trees bordering several streets in town. They were in full blossom. Very beautiful!
Cons: Our rooms were one floor up. The staircase was very steep and narrow. Difficult to carry up heavy luggage. Location a bit far from good restaurants.

Cons: Bathroom in the room I stayed in needs fixing - leaking in the middle of the night and hydraulic hammering in the morning was not pleasant. Dog next door barking all night also made the stay less pleasant

Pros: Friendly reception, comfortable, quiet and very tidy.
Cons: Nothing at all. Everything was perfect. Lovely garden.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: A light breakfast was brought to our room every morning which we did not expect and a surprise bottle of champagne & cupcakes on my wife's birthday!
6.3 Good
Pros: Bed quite firm but pillows far to hard. Reception also was not aware of the booking so we arrived at a locked facility. We then contacted them and they apologised prefusely. Will not stay there again.
Cons: Softer pillows and no water leaking at shower.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Warm reception!!!
Cons: There was no wifi.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Owners were extremely helpful and hospitable. Received beautiful fresh muffins on arrival.
Cons: The bed and pillows are very hard.
7.5 Good
Pros: Bed was extremely comfortable.
Cons: There was no soap in the unit - only 1 toilet roll and no toilet brush.
7.1 Good
Pros: The location is very quiet, if difficult to find, and the room is actually nice. Although it is small, they even managed to put in a small kitchenette, fridge and a bathroom. WIFI did not work, but the owner offered a solution with a mobile Wifi Unit.
Cons: There is some confusion with a street and an avenue with the same name on city maps and also on the booking.com confirmation. It took us more than a half hour of unnerving driving around, asking people, being sent in the wrong direction, eventually going back to the tourist office. The owner did not consider it a major problem, but agreed it was a nuisance. It is not a B&B, hence the contact with the owner is extremely limited, you have a room and that's it. If the owner happens to be out of the house, there is nobody around or just a maid who cannot help at all.
7.1 Good
Pros: Room was very clean
Cons: i think for the price charged for the stay it should include breakfast
4.5 Okay
Cons: What croissants? The fridge makes a noise and disturbs during the night. You can hear your neighbours next door. The kettle was disgusting! The milk in the fridge froze overnight and the coffee was really disgusting. The price of R1000 per night is ridiculous for the standard of the accommodation.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: A simple nostalgic guest house with a great choice of local restaurants
Cons: It is slightly dates but made up for by spaciousness.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We spent just one night here at the end of our holiday on the way back to Cape Town. The owner was very welcoming to us and all the staff we met were very helpful. There is a lovely garden and pool area. Our accommodation was in one of the cottages which was spacious and comfortable. The accommodation has been recently renovated to a high standard. We had a continental breakfast on the patio, but other breakfast options were available. There is no restaurant open in the evening within walking distance - the owner offered to cook something for us (he really prefers people to give him notice if this is required), but we drove to a restaurant called Bourbon Street in the town, which had a good menu. Staff at green Olive had recommended it. There is an 'Honesty bar' at the property so after our meal we enjoyed some wine on the terrace.
Cons: I didn't realise that you had to request a hairdryer!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Dave and Claude - excellent hosts Very kind and could not have been more helpful Most pleasant stay John Kidson
