It was peaceful and the owner/staff are great and will help with anything! Breakfast is adequate and we would be staying there again if in that area. it was a great stay!!! some reviews are stating the hotel is dated/old fashion..well a lot of Italy is. it has traditions and that is good.it is a traditional family run hotel
very pleasant stuff, good restaurant, the hotel is not far from the see I would renew the design of the room
Uncrowded, good pool facilities.
The hotel was lovely and the indoor swimming pool was fabulous. Difficult to locate. Should have signage on main road.,
Location was excellent, very near shops and restaurants. Staff and owners very helpful.
The staff was great, the style was classic old-style and the indoor pool was excellent. The room was cramped but had a nice balcony that gave us some extra room.
We liked the location of the hotel which was a block from the beach and a block from the main piazza. Parking was included. Breakfast was very good. There was an excellent restaurant near by in the Grand Hotel Parisi. When booking we were not told the room would be in an annexed building 2 doors away from the hotel. The room was on a third floor with no lift. Small and poorly supplied the room was not comfortable. The bathroom was so small one could not turn in the shower. I would not have booked the room if I had known this before hand.
Good proximity to transport and town. Poor air-conditioning and breakfast was average. Staff were very dour, apart from the owners who were very friendly and helpful. We're not sure if this is normal in this particular town though...
Nice location, quiet, very clean, real relaxation A bit poor breakfast (no vegetables and fruits)
very friendly staff
The hotel has up to date decoration and facilities. The breakfast was good and well presented We had concerns about plumbing noises from adjacent rooms
Excellent room, good size with balcony. Super breakfast. Plenty of space to mooch in the hotel and gardens. Small pool area but had no problem with finding a sunbed. Helpful staff. Walking distance to beach and restaurants etc Parking a bit 'fraught', but is off street which is good as pretty limited in the area.
From the moment you walk in you are treated with friendly and helpful staff, the room we had was clean and just as expected(as in the photo on web page). The overall feel of this hotel was laidback and unfussed with the added bonus of no childern running riot at any of the 3 pools.Breakfast was a delight with a wide range of breakfast goodies any any amount of coffee- would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone...
pleasant staff most helpful would definatly recommend, great location close walk to sea and restaurants
Cozy hotel in a cute little town by the sea. Free wifi and (small) parking. Restaurant was closed.
Excellent location, very pleasant hotel. Enjoyed breakfast on the terrace, as well as coffee and drinks later in the day. Attentive staff, with special thanks to the invariably helpful and most considerate manager, Roberto. n/a
The manager Roberto was very friendly and was always keen to help. He even gave us a number for him for when he was out of the hotel. The breakfast was fine, as good as any other we had in other hotels on our trip. Great location, close to the beach. Much nicer than many of the towns further up the coast. Would definitely recommend the area. Extremely outdated interior, carpet on the doors and poor standard of maintenance in the bathroom (shower door broken so floor flooded when ever we used the shower). Shower head and soap stand also quite dirty with possible mould. Also smoking is allowed in the rooms which is fine if you are a smoker but if not it smells very strongly and all of the fabrics smell of smoke. The hotel badly needs a refit.
The staff was very helpful and friendly, especially Roberto - manager of the hotel. The room and bath-room were clean and comfortable. The location is close to the beach and promenade. The hotel has free parking and lovely terrace for breakfast and dinner or evening drinks. There were fruits on breakfast and it was really good for me:) The air-condition was a little bit strange and we didn`t understood how to regulate the temperature, however we stayed only 1 night, so it didn`t disturbe us.
Firstly, Roberto, on the front desk, was an absolute star! He was very welcoming, friendly and also available to give advice and directions for the local area. Very important to those not in the know! The hotel itself was clean and comfortable if a little dated. The location was good, a short walk from the town centre and train station. Its worth mentioning that all of the local beaches we went to were private. We ended up catching the bus to the spiagge bianche about 10mins away, a great free beautiful beach. A good stay nonetheless.
I liked the location, the sea view and the suite, not least the staff and the manager in particular
Very quiet location while close to everything. We loved breakfasts in the umbrageous garden (though it would be nice to have more diverse breakfast menu, but it is common for Italian hotels at all). Excellent staff. Utterly friendly and helpful owner offering advice as to where to visit, etc. We booked a double room but he's given us a triple one, which was more spacious, for the same price. Bravo Roberto and thank you very much! Slightly overpriced, in our opinion, but it is Tuscany! The rooms and furniture look dated and surely need renovation, but in the whole the hotel is pleasant and cozy.
The location of the hotel and the kindness of the staff
We arrived very late because the boat was 7 hours late but were so well and kindly received. We phoned the manager/owner? to warn him and he even gave us his home number in case we were lost and the night staff could not speak English. Actually the hotel is easy to find.
Friendly and helpful service especially from Roberto the hotel manager No
Beautiful spot , could walk to the Mediterranean and swim... lovely evening entrainment close by, romantic. convenient. Great food. Wireless access in the rooms would make it more business friendly.
Excellant restaurant, easy acces to private beach lovely sea views pleasant staff None
Awesome location great staff They should have an area open to residents where one can take a drink of an evening. The decor is tired.
This hotel locates in a very beautiful place and has such a nice view from the terrace or balcony. It was so nice to fall a sleep listening the sounds of the sea. There is a russian speaking girl at the reception. We had a very small quite simple room and bathroom, and very poor breakfast. It seems to us that the price is quite high for such hotel, but the view was really perfect!
Excellent restaurant menu for dinner, sea views made it worth the price. Limited parking near hotel
Closeness to the sea
Beautiful location which was not not over developed. Castigleoncello is an upmarket Italian resort set amongst a pine tree forest, and offers everything you could wish for. The view from the room's balcony across the bay was to die for. The staff were very friendly It is only a minor point but the decor and furnishings within the room was dated and and the room itself was small
The location on that fabulous bay and the sea view bedroom and balcony is second to none. I would definitely return, as long as I could have one of those rooms. Dinner was excellant. Parking was great and free.
wonderful view over the sea! small, but clean rooms distance to the train station (2 km). If you do not have rented a car you have to walk the distance with your luggage as there is no public transport or taxi available
Nice location. Very close to the beach and not far away from town. Great view from the room. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Excellent coffee! A very cosy hotel. Castiglioncello is a beautiful place and we are definitely going back sometime. Got the impression that all rooms had a balcony. That is not the case. Nice food in the restaurant but the the dining area was old and not very pleasant.
Friendly waitress in restaurant. Room had seaview One of the worst hotels ever experienced ! Stinking bathroom drains, horrendous bed cover making place look like doss house. Wall above bed decorated with photo of priest (could be put to great use by Private Eye magazine for a feature on sex perverts). The place was old and worn out, damp and gloomy.Walls cracking quite clearly, especially from our (shared)terrace. Worst of all the hotel beach was not included in the price...we were told to swim off the rocks below hotel if we wanted free access to sea. With the stink of sewage in the room it was off-putting to even think about swimming below the hotel. The smell was even worse in the morning and it was like entering a room where someone had a very bad "holiday tummy" Hotel was situated on extremely busy and dangerous road with no other way to escape and explore the area.As parking was very limited,(we got last place on arrival at 4.30pm),we could not consider going back out in car.The hotel had its own(expensive) restaurant in same ancient style...one of the senior staff seemed unhappy that we were only ordering a fish course plus separate portions of vegetables, which were miniscule but very expensive. The bread was dry and looked like it had witnessed several weeks.Breakfast was obviously done on the cheap: "nectar" style juice ie. sugar and water with a hint of fruit, warmed-up cheap croissant and "ofF" butter. The hundreds of mini portions of jam reminded me of travels in Romania thirty years ago when jam was all they had in the shops. Breakfast was included in the rate paid via on-line booking, however this place was well over-priced. Should not have cost more than 50 euros. Another thing to note is that the receptionist wanted both passports to keep at the desk. I was very unhappy about this. As it happened mine was not available on arrival, and I quietly forgot to leave the room and take it to the girl. It is one thing to look and copy the passport number, but quite another to keep it on an open shelf. The girl showed us our room and left the front desk unattended: thus leaving numerous very valuable eu passports open to anyone to sell on the black market. This establishment should be taken to task by the hotel authorities for continuing this out-dated practice. They seemed to be completely oblivious to the risk in holding passports in such a manner. Also note that this was the only hotel to take the full payment several weeks before we arrived...therefore they could hardly argue that they wanted it in case you escaped and didn't pay for the room when you realised what a horrendous dump it was. Location was also noisy due to a railway line , next to the busy road. Trains went by every few minutes and continued through the night.Would rate it zero out of ten, including allowance of three points for friendly staff.
