Pros: Traveling from the east coast all the way through to Colorado, we found ourselves in Kansas, running out of light, getting tired and driving through fairly sparse rural Kansas. It's beautiful country but we needed to find a small town to park it for the night. We landed on Russell, Kansas and the Fossil Creek Hotel. It's a local hotel, with local, homey touches.
Fresh baked cookies upon check in.
Fresh popcorn in the lobby.
Rooms were fine, don't expect a Hilton, but they do have wi fi and all the basic hotel needs.
Great pool, looked like fun. Some families were enjoying the pool after a long day of traveling with the kids.
The morning had a great complimentary spread for breakfast.
Ron makes omelets fresh to your specifications, huge thumbs up.
A nice lady brings in fresh cinnamon rolls and the coffee was actually really good.
If you're staying in Russell, Kansas go to Meridy's diner right down the road. Great local place (the only one from what we can tell). Get the chicken fried.
Cons: It's a little pricey for basic hotel with Midwest touches but the omelets and breakfast make up for it, trust me.
Don't expect a Hampton Inn or Hilton luxury.

Pros: Clean rooms with nice bedding.
Cons: Less than mediocre breakfast with only 3 tables. We left because there was no where to sit.
Pros: Very clean
Pros: The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean and perfect. Great price and the owner/front desk person was super kind and friendly
Pros: Kimberly Lopez was very helpful.
Cons: Refrigerator did not work. Room was smaller than represented online. Minimal Staff availability.
Pros: Very nice, clean hotel. Breakfast was very good. Stay was fine. Thank you.
Pros: It was very neat and clean, staff was nice and breakfast was good.
Cons: The AC unit was not running prior to our arrival so it was a little warm upon entry, this is not a critical flaw: the unit was turned on and the room reached a comfortable temperature quickly.
Cons: Strong odor of disinfectant
Pros: Less than desirable breakfast. No towel racks even though they want to change towels every 3 days. Parking lot was old and shabby and under resurfacing while staying there. The word I would use to best describe it would be "minimalistic".
Pros: Room was clean, bed was comfy, location good for traveling from Missouri to Colorado.
Cons: Breakfast was just ok. Not amazing, but something to eat.
Pros: Clean, quiet, recently updated, many unexpected extras such as a FREE exercise room, an empty but working refrigerator in my room, and an included generous breakfast. There was parking space for my car that was visible from the main street.
Pros: Did not it Breakfast
Cons: No Towel Holder by the Bathroom Sink! Also No Towel Holder by the Bath Tub! Everything else was fine.
Located in Russell, The Lodge at Russell is within a 5-minute drive of Heym-Oliver House and Gernon House. Featured amenities include a business center and a 24-hour front desk. Free self parking is available onsite.
Cons: Carpet very soiled. Bath fan loud and falling off the wall. AC fan noisy clanking for about ten seconds each time it kicked on. Could not sleep so turned off AC to sleep but then the room was uncomfortable and difficult to sleep.
Pros: It was over when we awoke at 955
Cons: The carpet was nasty
Pros: The room was clean and looked way better than the outside of the building.
Cons: The appearance of the exterior.
Pros: Breakfast was great! Nice big room.
Pros: I could park right outside the room.
Cons: Roaches and other bugs in room. Killed 2 with hairspray. Carpet stained. Tub did not drain while showering.
Pros: The hotel was not too huge and flashy, but it had what we needed and was quite cozy! Staff was pretty courteous and the breakfast was delicious.
Pros: The staff was very friendly and accommodating.
Cons: I fractured my ankle (before our trip) and our room was upstairs. Truly not their problem. Shower could have had more pressure.
Pros: The location.
Cons: There were dead roaches on the floor. The door had a good sized gap that allowed bugs from the outside in. There were tiny dead black bugs on the comforter.
Pros: ROOM WAS CLEAN
Cons: THERE ARE A LOT OF REPAIRS GOING ON AND HOTEL.
Pros: Male worker was friendly female worker was not friendly, forgot to return my drivers license to me. The place is in very poor condition overall, they have the upper level blocked off because the staircase is breaking away from the building. Place needs repairs badly... hardly anyone is staying there. Breakfast was just ok. Boarded up windows too. Doesn't feel like a safe place, feels shady and it's the same cost as the other two better motels down the street. Carpet dirty in room
Cons: Place needs a lot of repair in order to stay in business. Staircase is breaking away and they have the upper level blocked off, also boarded up windows. Doesn't feel like a safe location, shady. Female staff worker was unfriendly upon check in and forgot to return my drivers license to me. Breakfast was just ok. It's the same cost as the other two motels down the street, so I would stay at one of those next time. Carpet dirty in room
Cons: Pool was ckoses
Pros: Staff was very friendly and the hot breakfast was very good.
Cons: They are under renovation which is not all that bad but you do have to put up with the property not looking pristine. We had a few minor issues with the room but they were not anything that would keep us from staying there again.

Pros: Convienence to interstate
Pros: Convenient and reasonably priced.
Pros: It was all good.
Cons: There were 2 people in the room but only 3 towels. ?? And the pool was rather cold. I would of gone swimming in the morning, but since the water would have probably been colder, no thanks.
Pros: Easy to locate. Clean room. The bedding was comfortable. The air conditioner worked and didn’t keep me awake
Cons: It was an upstairs room and I’m over 70 years old. They had an abundance of ground floor rooms they could have rented to me.
Pros: A room along the interstate highway system, it did the job. I like being able to make coffee in the room in the morning. The TV had multiple inputs so I was able to plug in my laptop and watch a movie with Amazon Prime and the good wifi.
Cons: The building is older and a bit rundown, but the room functioned well. No microwave.
Pros: Front staff was awesome and very helpful.
Cons: I really liked and enjoyed our stay.
Pros: Handy to Freeway as just passing through. Clean and tidy unit. Excellent breakfast.
Cons: Walls were a bit thin and could hear animals staying in other units.
Cons: This hotel is not 3 star by any means. It was dirty, run down, and reaked of cigarette smoke. I would never stay here again.
Pros: Jennifer at the front desk was incredibly kind and helpful after a grueling drive.
Cons: The toilet rocked, the lever for tub drain falling out and large spiders and webs outside on building.. Needed maintenance.
Pros: Pillows were comfy, morning check out staff person was friendly
Cons: Room smelled musty, bedding outdated, wall paint chipping, dark
Cons: The property was in disrepair, the night clerk was rude and put off a vibe that he didnt care about his job, although that part is just speculation. I stayed at two days inns in two days, the first one was amazing. This one was was awful. And clerk gave answers that contradicted answers previous clerk gave me.
