Pros: Traveling from the east coast all the way through to Colorado, we found ourselves in Kansas, running out of light, getting tired and driving through fairly sparse rural Kansas. It's beautiful country but we needed to find a small town to park it for the night. We landed on Russell, Kansas and the Fossil Creek Hotel. It's a local hotel, with local, homey touches.
Fresh baked cookies upon check in.
Fresh popcorn in the lobby.
Rooms were fine, don't expect a Hilton, but they do have wi fi and all the basic hotel needs.
Great pool, looked like fun. Some families were enjoying the pool after a long day of traveling with the kids.
The morning had a great complimentary spread for breakfast.
Ron makes omelets fresh to your specifications, huge thumbs up.
A nice lady brings in fresh cinnamon rolls and the coffee was actually really good.
If you're staying in Russell, Kansas go to Meridy's diner right down the road. Great local place (the only one from what we can tell). Get the chicken fried.
Cons: It's a little pricey for basic hotel with Midwest touches but the omelets and breakfast make up for it, trust me.
Don't expect a Hampton Inn or Hilton luxury.
Pros: The staff was very kind and the hotel was quiet.
Cons: My room smelled like cat pee.
Pros: A nice, decent place to stay after a long day on the road.
Pros: Staff very friendly
Cons: Room smelled like wet diaper
Pros: You get what you pay for and more. For being a small hotel in small town Kansas, I was highly impressed. Everything felt clean. There is also a little bar connected and was perfect right before bed. (Staff makes a pretty mean bloody mary as well)
Cons: Can't complain one bit! The staff was super friendly. Yes this may not be a ritzy hotel but I am sad that they only have 2 stars. For being from the big city in colorado we were impressed at this little hotel in the middle of nowhere. It was perfect.
Pros: We had our dog along with us. The park behind the hotel was a great place to walk her daily. Staff was very friendly and responded to requests quickly.
Pros: Staff was polite.Internet was good. The room size was great. We enjoyed our stay.
Cons: The breakfast items on display did not match what was stated in the information sheet in the bedroom. That was disappointing.
Pros: Very Clean. The motel is adjacent to excellent walking trails witha parcourse.
Cons: The 'free' breakfast is marginal...less variety than similar motels.
Pros: They had a beautiful park connected to the property.
Pros: the rooms are newer my room looked out over the park with a great walking trail the hotel also had a neat little bar attach the staff and other guest where friendly and had lots of area knowledge
Cons: breakfast could have had more sulection
Pros: The breakfast
Cons: Dead moth in hotel room, empty milk duds box under bed and spiders in the shower. Gross.
