Pros: I liked the 3 hours sleep I got after finally getting the room I didn't want.
Cons: Everything else.
Cons: hotel called in early evening to tell me my pre-paid room was cancelled. They told me there might be rooms at a place down the road. Not helpful in the least and extremely poor customer service. Will rely on the Oread in the future.
Pros: Location is excellent - nearly all of our weekend activities were walkable.
Rooms have small kitchenettes which are very nice when traveling with children. They are clean and roomy and have a large work area for laptops, etc.
Parking garage was easy to operate and meant we were not searching for parking in downtown Lawrence.
Cons: There are nice TV's in the room, but only a small sofa where two people can sit. For a family of four staying in the room, it would be nice to have an armchair of some sort??
WiFi worked fine, but not with the AppleTV because of hotel sign in process.
Cleaning staff made the bed, restocked towels, etc. while we were out, but did not run the dishwasher or restock coffee.

Pros: The beds were soft and the rooms were spotless.
Cons: The staff was rude, hard to track down, and not incredibly helpful. The room was incredibly expensive and honestly I've slept in softer beds for much less. In the morning around 930 the cleaning crew was INCREDIBLY loud, I mean practically screaming as they were tossing rooms over, not something you want to hear on a day you plan to sleep in. I don't understand why the hotel cost so much for such a simple room but I won't stay again. All these reviews talk about luxury and how nice the other parts of the hotel are but the rooms, in my opinion the most important part were less than impressive.
Pros: The people were my favorite!! Everyone was more than accommodating; there was a charm & overall kindness. We were visiting to get our impression of the University of Kansas & the OREAD was a beautiful first impression of the architecture, atmosphere & people!
Cons: We didn't get to stay long enough :)
Opened in January 2010, The Oread is the most unique and complete center for lodging, hospitality, business and social lesure activities in the region. All at one extraordinary location. The beautifully constructed native limestone building is the perfect combination of the traditional architecture of the hostoric campus with the contemporary elegence of The Oreads spacious public and private areas.
Pros: The entire building appeared to have been recently updated. The bathrooms were especially nice.
Cons: Our room was above/next to the lobby so it was VERY noisy during our entire stay.

Cons: This is a great historic hotel and is the perfect location for walking to shops and restaurants in Lawrence. I have stayed in this hotel twice now and have been impressed with the cleanliness, comfortable bed and great staff. The restaurant downstairs is excellent as well. The only negative is that the air conditioner is extremely noisy. The ones with wall units (in the back rooms) never seem to be quite comfortable and have noisier AC systems than the rooms facing the street. This hotel is apparently also famous for its ghosts, so it's possible that your air conditioner will not be the only thing that goes bump in the night. Certain parts of the hotel do feel a bit creepy, especially the elevator. I would definitely stay there again, but I would probably not do so alone.
Pros: The Eldridge Hotel was beautiful! The hotel maintained it's old charm while also being modern and beautiul. The room was pleasant and quiet. The bed was absolutely wonderful! Valet service was inexpensive ($10 a day) and very efficient. I enjoyed being so close to everything downtown, and the service all over the hotl was impeccable.
Cons: I enjoyed my whole experience there. I have no complaints.
The Eldridge is where history and elegant hospitality converge. Part of The National Trust for Historic Hotels, a multi million dollar renovation in 2005 restored The Eldridge to its original 1925 grandeur, featuring historic flourishes and old photographs depicting the hotel’s historic past. Now a luxurious all suite hotel, The Eldridge offers spacious accommodations with beautiful furnishings and upscale amenities, including the finest menu and wine selection in Lawrence. The Eldridge’s TEN restaurant and Jayhawker bar are recipients of the Open Table Diner’s Choice Award 2009 and the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence 2008 and 2009. Like fine wine, The Eldridge has matured to perfection, reflected in its devotion to the best possible experience for its guests.
Pros: I go to Lawrence often, only to dread the choices of motels. Comfort Inn &Suites of lawrence is the game changer.
Cons: Pool was not open.
Behind every great day is a great night at the Comfort Inn and Suites University Area hotel in Lawrence, KS located off Interstate 70. This pet-friend, smoke-free hotel is near destinations like Allen Fieldhouse, Lied Center of Kansas, Natural History Museum and Lawrence Arts Center. Enjoy amenities like free hot breakfast, free WiFi, indoor heated pool, fitness center and business center. Rooms come equipped with a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, hair dryer and a desk. Also, earn rewards including free nights and gift cards with our Choice Privileges Rewards program.
Cons: The room was laid out really strange. The TV was not really view-able from the couch or the bed. And the room had remnants of leftover plaster and bugs from construction i guess. It was not a comfortable experience. And the lobby area was extremely hot
Pros: HOTEL LOCATION
Cons: WE WERE PUT IN A ROOM ON LEVEL ONE. DOOR WAS PROPTED OPEN UPON ARRIVAL. CARPETS WERE SOAKED, TRIM FROM WALL LAYING IN MIDDLE OF THE FLOOR. THE SMELL WAS HORRIBLE. SMELLED LIKE MILDEW AND CAT PISS. STAFF PLAYED STUPID ABOUT IT ALL. NOT HAPPY WONT RETURN.
Pros: Good location near downtown Lawrence.
Pros: the staff was very friendly.
Pros: The river view and being close to Mass Street a plus. Breakfast was good for a buffet style with lots of seating available. I traveled alone, but liked the idea of pull out trundle and twin sofa sleeper vs a sofa hide-a-bed...more comfortable.
Cons: Bedroom area seemed a bit cramped. Housekeeping had left a dirty washcloth on the shower curtain bar which was a bit gross. Vending on different floors had different prices for same items and most expensive when purchased from front desk.
Pros: Location was great
Cons: Check in was a little ridiculous. Rooms were not ready, and we did not check in until 5:30pm, so we had to wait on a room for about 20 minutes.
Pros: Nothing stands out
Cons: poor location, had to drive to Bar and Resturants
Pros: Really nice rooms and beds! Service was also very good. Hotel is set along river, close to train station, with a unique layout (was a renovated mall). Close to Turnpike as well.
Cons: Location was close to highway but not very walkable to many restaurants. Not the hotel's fault at all, but riverfront area is not very nice to walk by.
Pros: Love the comp. breakfast!!!!!!
Cons: Frequent trains nearby were disruptive to some, but we found it somewhat relaxing. The hotel was also nice enough to supply iHomes to drown out the noise, which was nice.
Cons: it's going to make all other hotels seem substandard.
Pros: Clean rooms, friendly staff, nice lobby.
Cons: Rooms are a bit dark and poorly lit because of the building's prior function as an outlet mall. Also, the fitness center could be better equipped, and the breakfast more extensive.

Pros: Very clean and nice accommodations for the price
Pros: Very clean comfortable bedding
Pros: Clean rooms and beds - they even put me in a room with two beds for the price of one!
Good location if youre working near the university.
Cons: Main issue was very spotty internet.
Pros: Attentive staff; clean rooms though obviously older motel. New, comfy beds, giant TV with satellite in each room. Small breakfast: hard-boiled eggs, toast, bagels, cereal, oatmeal, pastries, apples and bananas, orange juice, milk, coffee, hot chocolate. Great price! Well-lit parking lot.
Pros: Clean room
DirectTv was a nice addition
Cons: Wireless internet service was inadequate. I could never connect to yahoo.com or cnn.com or do emails as I desired.
Overpriced compared to similar newer options
Virginia Inn is a great choice for a stay in Lawrence. Free perks include WiFi, self parking, and continental breakfast daily between 6 AM and 9 AM. Nice touches like pillowtop beds with premium linens and down comforters are offered up in all rooms.
Pros: This hotel was very clean and the staff was very friendly! Phyllis, in the breakfast room, was so kind and helpful! Loved that lady! The fitness room was well furnished.
Cons: The indoor pool is extremely small and not very deep. My 10 year old was bored rather quickly in there.
Pros: Nice modern clean rooms. Breakfast was well staffed.
Pros: Clean, new, great breakfast.
Pros: It was a nice, modern hotel with good amenities - great breakfast and liked having the daily paper available.
Pros: It was clean, staff was friendly and good breakfast
Pros: The hotel was clean, comfortable, and the staff was friendly and prompt. Breakfast service was nice than I had expected and the staff working in the breakfast room were so pleasant and attentive!
Cons: The door didn't close / latch properly unless it was really PULLED shut. The elevator is slow and seems inadequate for the needed use. Had a couple longish waits at the elevator.
Pros: The size of the room and comfort of the bed. The employee on Friday evening was very nice but when the fire alarm went off (I think a child opened the exit to the pool), it took a long time to turn off the alarm. It then again went off a 2nd time.
Cons: Saturday front desk associate was rude. I requested late checkout due to interrupted sleep from alarms (my daughter & I were sick with flu so lack of sleep did matter). She snapped at me that she just couldn't do that for us. No explanation or I'm sorry.
Pros: This hotel was EXCELLENT. Immaculate, stylish, comfortable. The design of the room (recently renovated) was sleek and futuristic; we felt like we were in a much more expensive hotel. Holiday Inn has a GREAT concept with this line of hotels.
Cons: No, everything was superb. We will seek out this hotel and others in the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites line again.
Pros: We stayed in a newly remodeled room that was beautiful, clean and spacious. There was a Keurig in the room for your morning coffee and the bed was very comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful and the breakfast had plentiful hot and cold choices.
Cons: Nothing comes to mind.
Pros: The Location was excellent........ The Hotel was very nice and clean. I would like to book this hotel overtime we go back.
Pros: Friendly staff. Nice room. Comfortable bed.
Cons: No, everything was great!
Pros: The breakfast attendant, hotel employee. She is a gem! Takes amazing care of all the guests and makes us feel at home. Look forward to seeing her every time we stay. The hotel is great overall. Super clean and comfortable.

Pros: Great amenities and friendly staff. Keep in mind that they have an auxiliary building for overflow, so if you are staying in the winter and would need the lobby pool, ice, etc., you will have to walk across the parking lot to access the main building.
Pros: Location in proximity to KU is great. Convenience to shopping is good. Nice to have Chilis next door
Cons: Too warm in the breakfast area. Fresh brewed coffee is preferred over the machine prepared coffee.
Pros: Nice room and good breakfast selection.
Pros: Conveniently located near campus. The bed are comfortable and the hotel has been updated in the last 10 years. It is not luxury by any stretch but a reasonable, close-to-campus choice.
Pros: would stay again. have been there before
Cons: Pillows were too round and big. Slept without it.
Pros: Breakfast and location.
Cons: carpet was dirty and dark, lighting was so very dim, pillows were too small and lifeless.

Cons: When we checked in we where approached by a person hi on drugs trying to sale a cell phone. After we checked in we went to our room and the refrigerator was missing and the TV would not turn on. They sent a service person to take a look at the TV and he tried to get it fixed. He worked on it go a hour and never got it to work. I was told that night that they would compensate us for this but the staff in the morning said they could not do anything for us. I called the next week and talked to the manager and he said he was going to comp the stay but 2 weeks later not one thing was done. VERY unhappy with the staff and management handling this
Cons: We booked under the false advertising of this location being a current doubletree. We found ourselves in an unnamed old holiday inn the best we could tell completely under construction all around us. The power also went out for an extended period of time and during check out it wasn't even mentioned by the front desk as a simply apology. There should have been an excessive reduced fee or reimbursement.
Cons: Old school HI. Convenient to I 70, but in the middle of a renovation looked a bit like a work zone. Worst part the nasty carpet in rooms and damp sheets from some frebreez type spray. Headed to CO, so just a place to crash. I will look for a newer hotel next time. However, friendly staff.

Pros: This room met our needs; a good bed and hot shower.
Cons: The fan for the heater needs attention it was rather noisy.
Cons: Room smelled awful, had to get a different room.
Pros: Close to KU campus but far from I-35 and a little jaunt from I-70. The staff was friendly. The lobby was OK, and there was an RO water filter, which was nice for filling up water bottles. The shower head, though low in positioning, offered good pressure and the water was hot.
Cons: Overall, the hotel is dated and desperately in need of an update (the bathroom in the room was decent). The decor was tired, and most things just looked beat up - the tile floors in the lobby hallway, in the elevator and on the landings for each floor. Our first room was really smokey, so we ended up moving over to another one. Then we had to go back to the front desk to ask for soap, as there wasn't any in the bathroom. Not a huge deal, but overall, just another little thing in the less than ideal column.
Cons: The place was dirty. Carpet was coming up and out the window was old lumber laying in the grass
Pros: The beds were extremely comfortable.
Cons: Mattresses were too soft. Stairwells were ugly brown and green and felt dirty. I like to use the stairs when I'm only on the second floor.
Out of cream by the coffee and no one around to get it.
Had 2 printers and computers for the guests, but the printers didn't work. Employee was nice and let me use the desk one to print off my boarding pass.

Cons: They had an extended stay client that was hitting on my daughter and me

Our guest rooms include a microwave, mini-fridge, coffeemaker, hairdryer, 32 inch flat panel cable TV, HBO, ESPN, Showtime, iron, ironing board, desk with lamp, table with chairs, and alarm clock radio.
Cons: The room had a bit of a funny odor and definitely could have been cleaner. When I arrived, I washed my hands and face, then wiped down the vanity area to clean up the little bit of water I had dripped on the counter. When I was finished I looked at the towel, and it went from white to brown! That's how dirty the counter top was! I also noticed that one of the bath towels had a weird brown stain. I was going to take it to the front desk and exchange it for a clean one, but when I got within view of the lobby, I could see that the employees were watching a graphic sex scene on the flat screen that was hanging on wall, so I decided I didn't want to go in there. I didn't need another towel that badly. The metal staircases leading to the second floor became extremely slippery in the rain. I can't even imagine what they are like in the winter when they get icy.
Definitely not worth the price, or even half the price I paid to stay there. Will not be returning.
Pros: It was easy to get to. Location was easy to find. My favorite part though, was checking OUT.
Cons: The reviews for this motel were very misleading. It was a horrible experience. The room was disgusting. Dirty, smelly, stains everywhere. Everything was dated, the towels were dirty (make up stains, etc.) We never took our shoes off in the room, and we used nothing from the facility itself. I frantically looked for another place to stay, but everything was already booked due to some sporting events. I will never stay there again.

Pros: The staff were very nice, and the inn is located in a good spot.
Cons: The rooms had a musty smell and the halls had a smokey smell. The staff forgot to clean the room the last day we were there.
Pros: Convenient and the staff was nice. The rooms were what you would expect but the beds were comfortable.
Pros: The beds were comfy. Smoky smell in hallway but not in room. Some musty smells here and there and the decor is outdated. However for the price, it was fine. Very close to campus, easy to find. Pool didn't look too inviting. Very small. Staff was nice. Breakfast was average.
But again for the cost, it was fine.
Pros: The staff was extremely kind and accommodating! I was in town for an interview, and they gave me all the information I needed.

Cons: Outdated furniture, TV, and other amenities. Linens were threadbare and pillows were thin and small. Only positives were the water in the shower was hot
and the towels were clean. Will not be back unless
Pros: This is possibly the worst hotel I have stayed in for quite sometime. The room smelled, the beds were old and uncomfortable, the bathroom door was broken, there was hair in the bathtub, the electrical outlet was pulled out of the wall in the sink area, the chrome tissue cover in the wall was rusted and dirty, there was no WIFI
Pros: the staff was freindly and helpful
Cons: for the price it wasnt well kept. the lock on my door was falling off. the bathroom tub was leaking and it looked like an old motel 6 type of room.
Cons: Big gap around front door. Bathroom very dim.
Pros: Old, run down, furniture upolstry ripped, dirty,
Pros: Location to the interstate and University.
Cons: Mildew/mold smell, bedding was old and gross, shower rod was broken, cable was static.
Cons: From the holes in the wall to the broken screen and toilet seat, not a very well kept facility.
Pros: There is absolutely nothing good I can say about this place and even less about its management
Cons: I didn't like anything, but especially the day time manager who was rude, cared less that somebody else was already in the room assigned to me. Then told me breakfast was closed, not that I would have eaten there anyway, when there was still time.
Pros: Hotel was very affordable and right on Iowa road. Easy to get to and close to KU
Cons: Bed wasn't soft at all, and the room was very tiny. But it was clean and warm.
