Pros: The hosts Alberto & Simona were very kind and helpful and made a delicious supper, all gluten free by special request. Nothing was too much trouble and the accommodation was comfortable in a beautifully maintained house.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hosts were fantastic, they looked after us really well. The had set up a cot for our 1yr old daughter and provided all the baby products we could have wished for including a high chair and toys which made it really easy. It is also less than 5 mins drive from the motorway (N28) which is perfect if you are going between Calais and the south of France. We had food at the property for the night we were staying as it made our lives so much easier and it was very good, plus good company over dinner. Overall it was fantastic and we will be back if we are doing the same trip in the future.
Cons: Nothing, they were great!

See hotel page This charming 4-star destination is in Saint-Martin-du-Vivier, on the outskirts of Rouen. Anibal and her team will be on hand to welcome you to La Berteliere, The Originals Relais, in its ancient Norman home. From the 44 rooms you will be able to enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside whilst admiring the grounds and rose garden. The acclaimed restaurant will dazzle your tastebuds, and delight even the most discerning of palates. There are also a large number of meeting rooms for professional use here, too.
7.0 Good
Pros: Room was nice
Cons: Barman was very surly
7.5 Good
Pros: Good location for us on journey home to France from the UK. Used to stay here a lot when it was Best Western’ Quality, Qualys now Originals. Cannot see any difference in any of theses changes but suits us. Large free car park a bonus. Will stay here again.
Cons: Rooms quite basic but ok, no frills. No air conditioning and WiFi poor but it is out on a limb.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Be careful in the restaurant as the translation does not match the menus in English and had a very disappointing main meal.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: I was impressed with our evening meal but I was a little disappointed with breakfast.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The front desk staff were friendly and helpful.
Cons: The hotel was tired and in need of upgrading. The restaurant staff told us any table, then when we chose one by the window said it was reserved and basically said the same for any window table which was annoying. The food was really awful and overpriced. It is in an odd setting at the end of an industrial estate. The room was very hot at night - no fan, no window - had to sleep with French door open. The waitress at breakfast was surly and slammed plates and cutlery around clearing other tables whilst we ate. The hot option at breakfast was inedible. I would not stay here again!
5.0 Okay
Pros: Comfortable bed, Nice gardens.
Cons: Dated and shabby room. Staff too busy elsewhere, due to wedding that day. Extortionate bar prices. Poor breakfast for price charged.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Outside the city
Cons: WiFi doesn’t work Staff no friendly
6.8 Good
Pros: - Well equipped room - Huge bathroom with a tub - Beautiful and peaceful environment around the hotel - Nice staff - Convenient for Rouen city visitors provided you're equipped with a car - Beautiful breakfast area
Cons: - No water bottles in the room, which is unacceptable given the room rates - Too low standing for 4* (more accurate to 3) - Very noisy rooms, from neighboring and cleaning service banging (pick a top floor) - Some bugs and some smell in the room - Communicating inside door with neighbor room (this is usually poor isolation) - Extremely expansive breakfast
5.0 Okay
Pros: The bed was comfy albeit it not a double ... it’s was a zip and link, staff were friendly enough Parking ok, quiet location
Cons: The whole place is NOT 4star, very very dated decor, not in great condition, the bedroom was dated and the bathroom not great, the sink cracked etc, again not what we would expect for a four star, the breakfast was poor, no staff, eggs were black in places and the bacon dry, beans just in water! All in all shocking value for the 19€ Each, paid on top of room stay, have had much better breakfast in an ibis budget ! See photos! Really disappointed and would not stay again !
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a pit stop on a very long journey. It provided us with everything we needed after such a long trip.
Cons: Only negative was the at breakfast, the rotating and only toaster wasn’t working neither was the fresh orange machine

Pros: We are very grateful to the staff for waiting 40 minutes past the check in hour (23:00). Our rented car broke down and we arrived by taxi from the other side of the city. If we had missed the check in we would have had a very hard time finding another location. Also, in the morning, the staff was very friendly and empathetic, we had a very good experience due to them.

7.5 Good
Cons: - poor WiFi connectivity
8.0 Excellent
Pros: A pleasant room with a good shower. Good value compared to others.
Cons: The room needs updating with a new carpet, heater that works and a sink that isn't partly choked. None of these items spoiled our stay but could have made it better.
5.3 Okay
Pros: friendly staff and good restaurant
Cons: slightly difficult to find if used as we did, as a transit stop , quite difficult to get back on motorway, as turn offs are not well sign posted and at extremely busy junction in city centre not for feight hearted!
7.6 Good
Pros: The staff were helpful in that we booked a room for 3 over the internet for our children and arrived having driven across france for 10 hours to be told they didnt have a room for 3 available, and that they often had problems with internet booking. They pulled a mattress into the room to accomodate.
Cons: Dreadful internet booking service.
6.0 Good
Pros: Very clean and fresh. Good online price.
Cons: Reception staff spoke very little English. Did not get what I was promised on the website, namely that I could have an extra bed in the room for free for my 9 yr old child. Hotel staff had no idea about this despite my request clearly shown on my booking invoice and the information that this was indeed the case.
7.0 Good
Pros: Very helpful and sympathetic receptionist. Very clean rooms. Free wifi.
5.3 Okay
Pros: very quiet and close to vital amenities
Cons: the three bedroom room was inadequately prepared for a third person no pillow or duvet . also had to set up the bed myself and the room was a standard size so third bed blocked access to teh fromt door or bathroom yes I booked this hotel via a representative who had asked the hotel or understood from teh hotel tha the rooms would be adjoining and next to each other. When I got there this was not so and the rooms were only on top of each other i.e you had to walk 100 metres to the stairs and walk back so as such were not next to each other
4.8 Okay
Pros:
Cons: the room was smelly, fag smoke, the air conditioning system had a musty smell
5.2 Okay
Pros: Nice room, clean
Cons: the scent of previous smokers in the room
2.8 Mediocre
Pros: Not a lot.
Cons: Only one member of staff was friendly (morning member of staff), The room was dirty with cigarette end in bin. Single bed was broken, also the bedside table broken, We had a connecting door in our room which was not locked and asked a member of staff to check it but was not checked. Have stayed at Campanielle all over Europe and this was by far the worst. Will not be staying at these hotels again
5.2 Okay
Pros: We were delayed by 6 hours due to a problem with Eurotunnel, I phoned them and they gave me the gate code and couln't be more helpful.
Cons:
6.4 Good
Pros: The staff were friendly and very helpful
Cons: We were disappointed to discover that because the hotel was fully booked there was not even 1 spare pillow. One of our party needed to keep his upper body raised and to do this we had to fold up blankets and bed covers.

Pros: Breakfast was worthwhile doing and good grounds for children to stretch their legs. Excellent little play area near reception. Parking convenient and secure.
Cons: Room a little too hot and cot / sofa bed not set up on arrival. Cotbed difficult to put up. Would be good to have a children’s play area outside.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent hotel, amazing location for our trip and wonderful facilities. The sun was shining and we ate breakfast outside by the pool which was great.
7.5 Good
Pros: We had a suite in 80thy style. Very consistently executed. Not only the phone and the furniture in orange, a lava lamp an a commodore computer but even magazines from 1982
7.5 Good
Pros: A great stop during a 2-day drive: family rooms, swimming pool, outdoor games and a kids corner with toys. On top of that a nice BBQ during summer on Friday and Saturday. Great to start the holidays or (in our case) to prolong them for 1 more night.
Cons: The area is not very inspiring, in a suburb of Rouen. There are a lot of dogs.
4.3 Okay
Pros: Disappointed by the hotel overall. The room did not match what I would expect from Novotel. It felt like an old hotel that was took over by Novotel but got no update.
Cons: The room and breakfast were a let down.
7.5 Good
Cons: Rooms are way too hot to sleep.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Room comfortable and clean.
Cons: The restaurant in the evening. Poor food choice and very slow service of taking order and delivery of food. Waited 1hr 20 for two cold salads to be prepared.

2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Horrible
Cons: Being in time for breakfast and having few croissant left with butter is a shame. Rooms: stains everywhere: table, floor, above bed where you can keep a book or a phone. Toilets: nightmare... "shimmel" all over the place. Smell of the rooms, ahhhhhh!

Pros: All in d,b&b is very good value. Friendly staff. Reasonable choice on menu.
6.8 Good
Pros: Clean. Comfortable. Convenient Good breakfast.
6.8 Good
Pros: Not a lot!
Cons: Hotel has recently changed hands. No restaurant available on the Sunday evening and we were not notified of this. After 10 hours in the car, we really did not want to drive anywhere else. Problem with our door handle. We were locked in for a while. Staff member came from reception and he was also locked in with us. He changed our room, but toilet seat broken in that room. Breakfast was not the standard of the previous owners. Very disappointed all in all. We like to stay here on our way down France for ease of access to main roads, but will seriously have to think again.
7.0 Good
Cons: The menu for dinner was very reduced. It would have been better if this had been made clear and we would have the choice to go elsewhere.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fantastic stay - perfect location for us who are travelling. The staff were helpful and the rooms really clean and quiet. The staff spoke excellent english which supported our really bad French!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The sole member of staff was very helpful and made us feel very welcome. Also, we have stayed at this hotel (Campanile, Inter and now Originals) many times as the location is ideal for our journey to South West France. And lastly, parking is always easy and convenient.
Cons: The main dining room could do with a blind at the window as the evening sun is too hot for comfort!
8.0 Excellent
Cons: No breakfast available. Staff member didn't turn up. Lady in hotel next door called manager and offered us breakfast until he arrived. He did offer a discount on next booking. Whole episode was rather a bad start to our day.
7.0 Good
Pros: Food was good basic food
Cons: The location in the middle of an industrial estate - metal recycling opposite

7.0 Good
Pros: AC on the rooms
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Have to think about this one
Cons: Welcomed to a lovely reception and taken to the double doors and put into prison. Room was dark chipped paint and felt like a prison room. Could have stayed in a Formula 1 for half the price. Budget is budget and they let you know when you get there. Not stay again.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: A basic hotel deal in a convenient location for an overnight stop-over. Car park is secured by a large remote controlled gate so better than one where anybody can get in.
Cons: A chair rather than a stool would have been more comfortable when using the table provided.
7.5 Good
Pros: Easy check in and plenty of parking. Bar on site. Ideal overnight stop on main route through Rouen
Cons: Main ibis was very tidy, but the budget wing smelt a bit musty and damp
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The confort of the bed
Cons: It was good nothing not to like
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: Price
Cons: Ibis "Budget" doesn't have to be terrible, right? But we had washed but still dirty linen and someone's hair on the bathroom floor. I am utterly disappointed with this hotel.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Restaurants nearby and great location to get on and off ferry stays for Dieppe. Spacious room and spacious bathroom
Cons: Parking was overcrowded due to their being too many motorcycles. Some motorcycles took one space each. This needs to be addressed !!!
7.0 Good
Pros: Away from the small, busy city center, situated in a forest .. generous parking .. with a few restaurants situated at walking distance
Cons: Very thin walls ... the type of room doors that slam no matter how hard you try not to... very, very basic breakfast (priced the same as the one at Ibis Styles - much more generous) ...
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Regarding the quiet room...is wasn’t that quiet, but only due to the nearby customers.
Cons: Everything was ok
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Well designed shower. Next door to McDonalds and a petrol station. Staff helpful and friendly.
Cons: An exceptionaly hot evening and no air conditioning made it difficult to sleep. If a bug screen was on the window it could have been left open.

Cons: Flies buzzing around the food at breakfast time.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: V clean, reception manned at 2.30 am and found easily - sat nav took us straight to it. Good value for money. Ideal for overnight stop on long drive to or from channel ports.
7.0 Good
Pros: The breakfast was good value. The bed was comfortable. The staff were very friendly.
Cons: No tea & coffee facilities in the room. The room was functional but quite small without any style. No restaurant, which was suprising & disappointing.
7.0 Good
Pros: We chose this hotel for its location - opposite to the Zenith Rouen. Qute familiar with Ibis hotels, this is an economoy version of the chain. Rooms were functional but a little cramped, with little light and veryy basic.
Cons: Location
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We have stayed before and the hotel is basic but comfortable so ideal for an overnight stop. On this occasion, we were allocated an extra sized room which was great as we had loads of space and a large wet room. When travelling, it always helps to know that there is secure gated parking at the hotel.
Cons: Having visited before, I thought that I knew my way from the local motorway. Unfortunately, there is massive building work going on it the area and the frontage is not accessible so you have to drive round the back roads to the car park. You definitely need a satnav to do this and it would have been helpful if the hotel had warned us of the situation before we got caught up in the road closures on the way in.
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: nothing
Cons: all
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and breakfast. Also very quiet
Cons: Nothing
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: it was alot more basic than i expected. the rooms were small and not well presented .
Cons: everything was so old and basic

7.5 Good
Pros: It was a good place to stop on our way north.
6.3 Good
Pros: The breaksfast bar had a good selection and was good value
Cons: The location was very industrial and run down
4.5 Okay
Pros: Basic. Rooms were brightly lit and recently renovated but bathroom was tired. The location reflected the pricing. Affordable but don’t pull in too much before planning to sleep.
5.5 Okay
Pros: The breakfast was better than expected with fresh and varied bread/croissants, and a good selection of drink, teas coffee and juices.
Cons: The airconditioning was not working, I asked the reception who at first said that it hadn’t been turned on, because “no one expects warm weather....”. Afterwards I decided to cancel my booking, only to be told that a technician was on the way to fix the problem and should be here within a couple of hours, so I decided to give the hotel a chance. Opening the window wasn’t really an option, it was about 30c and, not only that, there were mosquitos waiting to get in..... However at 2.00am the aircon was still only blowing warm air out! Didn’t get much comfortable sleep then. At breakfast I asked reception about the lack of aircon and her promise that someone was supposed to fix the problem, she said that the aircon worked in reception, and in a couple of rooms - as if that was acceptable! I had already decide not to extend my stay, but to sleep elsewhere on Sunday night!
8.5 Excellent
Pros: Being able to check in near midnight. The clean, crisp white duvet and sheets. Breakfast is good value - continental with tasty yogurt and decent coffee. Crockery, glasses and cutlery very clean
Cons: This is a budget hotel chain that never fails to disappoint and so keeps my trade.

7.5 Good
Pros: Nice service. Free parking space.
Cons: Thight rooms. Only for night. But not for longer stay.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: At least the breakfast area was clean.
Cons: Room was disgusting, hair and tobacco in my bed (in the sheets). Bathroom was as diagusting as the room. The floor has probably never seen water or soap. The bathroom is so tiny that you barely fit in there. All doors had stains (black) and marks from people touching it with time. Only experience worse than this was a hostel and there you kind of expect it. Breakfast has really low variety and the coffee is horrible. There is the possibility to close the doors with locks, but both were broken. I know this is a one star, but this should never be reflected in cleanliness or not working stuff. Terrible hotel. And the high points on booking come from the rating audience (construction workers that are happy to go to sleep in the evening and don't really need more).
6.8 Good

Cons: Rooms were smaller, dirtier, darker, and older than portrayed in the pictures. AC was broken. exposed cables hanging from wall to wall. I’ve stayed at Premiere Class hotels before, this was by far the worst experience I’ve had with the chain.

Pros: The coffee machine makes a good cup! That's pretty much it although it is cheap.
Cons: The area, shabby and well worn, bathroom was tiny pod style.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Liked the cleanliness of the room and bathroom. The staff were great. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms have been nicely redecorated. Simple, good value continental breakfast.
Cons: Just the size of the room and breakfast room. Had to ask for a third towel each day of our stay as they only leave a maximum of two even if three are using the room. Weird.

5.5 Okay
Pros: Just the parking

Pros: The bed sheets looked clean
Cons: Everything was appalling. When we arrived the outside appearance was old and shabby, there was a wrecked car parked there and there were 4 or 5 local youths hanging around the entrance. The receptionist was surly and the whole place stank of urine. One room nearby had loud rap music being played (7pm) and smelt of weird substances. Our room was tatty and worn. The shared shower cubicles either leaked or didn't work. The whole place exuded an air of neglect and vulnerability. Although we had paid we couldn't stay there as we wouldn't have slept a wink, so we booked somewhere else. It should be completely renovated or closed down.

Pros: Cheap, clean bed linen, clean toilet.
Cons: The hotel grounds were unkept and littered with a vandalised car in the carpark. The fire exit door was jammed open all night.

Pros: Absolutely nothing.
Cons: We found this hotel after searching for a Formula One hotel in Rouen. It is a difficult place to find as the address details on the website are incorrect. Payment was taken from my card when I booked. We arrived after 2200 so the reception was unattended and the contact phone number wasn’t answered. We therefore had no details of our booked room. Looking around the premises, we saw a filthy microwave oven and a Chinese meal in reception. A hot plate had been left on, clearly a potential hazard. The drinks machines were empty and switched off. We stuck to the floor as we walked around and the toilet facilities were disgusting. This hotel does not merit even a 1* rating and to advertise it under the respected F1 banner is nothing short of misleading. I will be seeking a refund.

Pros: Only the car park I could where I liked as my car was the only one.
Cons: Toilet locks did not work showers were dirty, the room needed sweeping. Best thing here is knock it down and rebuild it there is much to be done on the hotel it would cost less to rebuild.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The owner was nice.
Cons: It’s an ex-chain hotel in very bad state of repair and cleanliness. The sheets were clean but that’s the only good thing about it. It’s clearly being used to house young immigrants who were perfectly polite but very noisy well into the early hours. They also didn’t hesitate to remove the electronic key box to enter a room with the tv blaring and it was obviously not the first time. I booked this hotel because I couldn’t find anything else. I’ve only told half the story and we were there for less than 9 hours! I would sleep in the car rather than return.

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Absolutely filthy, dilapidated, bed bugs, poor facilities, I know it’s cheap but this place is shockingly bad.
4.3 Okay
Cons: Dirty carpets, floors and shower,we areas. Broken fittings.
4.5 Okay
Pros: The bedroom was reasonable and fairly clean. The bed was a double bed and comfortable for a one night stay. Wash basin in room. Quiet location. The bedroom was the one place that felt ok, but having to go down the hallway to the poor qualty toilets and showers was not a nice experience. Suggestion to put ensuite toilet & shower in each bedroom. Wi-fi speed could be improved in the hotel as it took quite some time to download web documents.
Cons: The main part of the hotel was poor, Dilapidated main entrance - looked like someone had vandelised it and it gave a very poor impression for anuone staying there.Poorly designed reception area and no common lounge area to relax in. Very cheap and tacky toilets - they smelled and were not very nice. The decor was poor and it looked like several areas of the hotel had water damage from broken water pipes or leaking roof - the carpets and general decoration was horrible and need to be replaced with new - toutes de suite! Overall impression 1 star or less. I would not be staying here again unless the management invest in a complete refurbishment.
