The room was very good. Breakfast was lovely and the staff very helpful No
The room service food was good. The hotel is rather stuck in a timewarp and needs updating. The staff were not particularly friendly and the atmosphere is not welcoming.
We were upgraded to an excellent room, when the staff found out, that there were not the requested bed for a child.
Breakfast buffet, hotel peaceful during our visit
The location of this hotel is excellent with reasonably priced carparking. Our room was surprisingly large and the decor was very pleasant. The pull out sofa bed provided for our daughter was very uncomfortable. It was very hard and every spring could be felt! The bathroom was a bit too small, especially when compared to the spacious room.
friendly reception staff, great open fires in reception/bar. Room too hot with no way of cooling other than opening windows
bed was comfortable. nice building. breakfast was nice the service at dinner was poor and the restaurant manager was defensive as to why the meal was not up to scratch. they did not have what we wanted, the service was slow, quality of meat poor, with the excuse that the head chef was not working that evening and they had lots of room service to attend to. Also the bedroom was extremely noisy and the decor was very tired
Efficient service in the dining room
The room was very clean. The breakfast was very poor as was the service at reception.
The bed was very comfortable, the room large and nicely equipped with a small settee and coffee table and a modern television. We were served in a friendly and efficient manner at dinner. Breakfast was delivered to our room on time. Centrally located. The room was shabby with ill-fitting carpets, bed hangings falling down and light bulbs not working. Although other rooms had air-conditioning, ours didn't. The shower didn't work properly. The quality of the food at dinner and breakfast was disappointing.
Beautiful location, lovely building. Staff extremely helpful. Comfortable bed. Riverside views.
Homely atmosphere, good food, good beer.
The location was great - away from the city and staff were so helpful and friendly. The road was quite busy.
Matthew, the manager, was an excellent host. He was businesslike, friendly and very helpful. He gave us perfect directions to Stonehenge, and packed a picnic breakfast for us when we had to leave early to go to Heathrow for a flight. The food in the restaurant was outstandingly good, excellent lamb, mashed potatoes, and bar-b-q wings! The beer was local and delicious. The staff were all very gracious. The rooms were handsome and bright, very clean, with a complete tea service and waters, both plain and carbonated, for the guests in each room. None. Except for some loud traffic on the road at night. Very minor.
The breakfast was very good, with plenty of choice. I didn't think that the room was worth the amount of money we paid.Quite small and no sofa/ seating at all.
The room was extremely comfortable- we stayed in the Wilton room and it has a wonderful deep bath, fab comfy bed , nice and warm but fan in cuboard if u need it cool. Amazing choice of brekfast from full English to scrambled eggs and salmon. It was top class Nothing
On arrival the staff greeting was exceptionally friendly. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We ate a bar snack later in the evening which was of a very high standard.. We slept well in the lovely bedroom. At breakfast there was a first class menu with numerable choices, ours was cooked to perfection and served well. No there was not one thing we could fault about the Hotel
The staff was so excellent all of them very friendly, the food was absolutely delicisious, breakfest to die for and the rooms were very nicely decorated. I did love my stay and would definitely recommend it to anybody. Thank you for pleasant stay. :-) Everything was perfect
Good food, good sized room with bath
We had a very lous neighbour that kept us awake for most of the night and the bed in our room was tilted at an angle which made it difficult for us to get comfortable
Mold in shower, no phone in room, poor heating, poor wifi
The central location in the city The noise from the beer garden on Saturday evening
Excellent receptionist Breakfast service too slow - no time for full breakfast as had train to catch. Breakfast late to start at 7-30 for business guests. Room door rattled.
The convenience, food and size of Room 302 with bath was excellent
The owner was very helpful in helping me figure out how to get around London as there was an Underground strike. Certainly not something she had to do given I was staying in Salisbury. The breakfast was good. Free wi-fi is a good thing. Location was convenient for the cathedral and not too far from the train station either. Not the hotel's fault I suppose, but if I'm able to reserve the room with Amex, I ought to be able to pay with Amex. The windows are old and so its like the people on the street are in your room, which probably isn't an issue in non-street facing rooms. The knobs on the doors are impossible to operate, which I mentioned to the owner and its on their list to replace. Would like to have been able to get the wi-fi in the room and not just in the downstairs common area.
Being very central
Friendly helpful staff .clean comfortable room.Tea and coffee provided in room. Good Location Little noisy in the early hours,
Great position inn the city centre - good food in the bar and a good breakfast. Rooms are redecorated and mave a modern cosy feel. There can be a bit of late night noise are people leave the bar at the weekend .
Its actually a pub with bedrooms really, with a disco that goes on til 2am on a Saturday night! However, if you get a room at the back its quiet enough to sleep Disco til 2am
It is a very nice located hotel with a lot of atmosphere and friendly staff. The breakfast and dinner kitchen are fine.
Very relaxing, good breakfasts, clean comfortable room, close to town centre, easy parking.
restaurant too expensive
We really enjoyed our spacious, classically decorated room with lovely bathroom and a fabulous scenic view of cathedral and meadows/river. The staff were courteous and helpful. The 15min walk to the centre of the city was such a pleasure too, going down historic streets with thatched cottages and historic walled gates. Nothing to complain of, except that unfortunately I left my hat and gloves by mistake, either in our room or at reception when checking out, and they have not been found since, I hope they turn up and I am contacted :o(
Having only paid £59 pounds for a double room with breakfast included i was a bit sceptical. I had checked out the negative views about the impact of a wedding so i phoned before booking to confirm there would not be one that night. I added on the booking form that a bath and river view were a preference and we got both. The room was immaculate and of a much higher standard than i expected in a 3 star hotel and in particular a standard room. The staff were very polite and attentive. We did not stay in as we were using the hotel as a base for a function in the city centre. The walk from the hotel was very pleasant. I could see that parts of the hotel were a bit tired and could see elements that limited it to a 3 star but it worked for us. Nothing to report
Beautiful setting, and a very short walk into the heart of Salisbury. Our room was comfortable and clean, and the common areas of the hotel were delightful.
Location and staff were tops!
Quiet position. For the money the room was not providing enough. Bed too short (typical problem in this country, English people apparently are very short), no airconditioning, no refrigerator. The bath with jacuzzi was not working.
We have stayed twice now, lovely large old fashioned room with great view This time we stayed there was an event downstairs (under our room) the disco arrived at 10.30 and was very loud.
Location Constant beeping of the Fire Alarm system in Reception
Nice room. Nice rural location. None really. T.V. could have been a bit bigger. ( If I was being super critical )
Really fabulous stay. Would definitely go again.
Foog and service Excellant and comfortable relaxing room Tea and coffee facilities in the room were a little odd.
The staff were extremely friendly and said to treat the hotel as my own home. Breakfast was great Bar was only open between 7pm and 9pm. It would have been nice if it was open for longer as there was no where to sit and relax with a drink after dinner other than your own room.
Great Room and amenities, scenic location Restaurant closes early
Friendly staff, historic building, quiet surroundings
We had a fantastic time & the staff were all very helpful for a young family
Friendly helpful staff. Clean comfortable bedroom. Pleasant dining room and lounge, food good excellent breakfast. As stairs to bedrooms very steep need to fix the bannister as it wobbles. Serviettes on the table would be nice without having to ask for them at each meal time.
Excellent breakfast.Outlook from room of Cathedral and river was lovely
Breakfast Dinner was only fair
value for money and location was excellent
the history of the hotel because we stayed in the old part the bar shut too eairly
The overall comfort of the room and the close proximity to Salisbury General Hospital (where my course was held) and also to the city centre and cathedral. Unfortunately I forgot to pack my mobile phone charger and hair conditioner. I was disappointed when nothing could be done to help as spares were not held on site to borrow or purchase, so I had to walk to the closest out of hours store to purchase them.
Friendly staff and nice large comfortable rooms. Windows in the room and bathroom were old and could do with replacing.
We had room 19 which had a wonderful view of the garden and river. The people were very nice and helpful with travel information. I understand the property is in the midst of a renovation so I write this with the understanding that this item will probably be taken care of in due course. The furniture was more than a bit shabby.
The people were pleasant and the meals and service in the restaurant were both very good. The bed was a king size bed however made up of two king size single mattresses of different heights of what seemed like at least an inch. This created a ridge line in the bed that made sleeping very difficult.
Receptionist was very helpful - showed us maps of Salisbury and trains stations etc
Very comfortable and friendly welcome. All small details thought about for the room and the breakfast was amazing.
everything. the place was beautiful.(centrally located to Salisbury and the New Forest and only 30 mins away from the sea!) The owners David & Lizzie were very welcoming and extremely helpful, The food was fantastic. Rooms gorgeously decorated and well sized. n/a
Friendliness of staff No
We were made to feel so welcome, really enjoyed our stay. Will definitely return.
The friendly and helpful nature of the staff to ensure you had a wonderful stay.
Lizzie and David have been the friendliest B&B people on our trip. Breakfast excellent, room equipped with an eye fro the detail. Swimming pool and terrace in the garden were a surprise.
The fabulously warm welcome. I instantly felt at home. Would strongly recommend it as a place to stay.
The relaxed friendliness of our hosts. Excellent breakfast . Overall 100% satisfaction. Coming home at the end of it !
relaxed atmosphere and v pleasant and helpful hosts.
Comfortable, clean & homely. Helpful staff with good ideas of things to do & places to go. Ideally situated for many interesting areas.
Very friendly staff, made to feel welcome, highly recommended hotel. Key cards for access to room, technology that doesnt work!! Twice had a wasted trip to room only to return to reception to have the card replaced. Get rid of this system it is infuriating & spoils a superb hote.
Cozy and charming hotel with ancient roots in local history. Attentive staff. Great location. Had no noise problems. Dinner was a little hit-or-miss; chicken dish was excellent, fish dish very ho-hum.
Location, courtyard nice except..., price not unreasonable. Feel duped. Booked a "historical" room based on a picture of a charming room offered when booking. Got to room and it was a B minus take on modern. Asked at desk and was told all the rooms had been renovated, they were updating the website. Too late. False advertising. Internet horrible to the point of being useless, rooms very hot in summer. Kegs and chairs stacked/stored in the courtyard ruin the charm and ambiance. Shocked at the five star rating. Would hate to see an even four star property...
Location is marvelous. The atmosphere is also nice. When we took a bath, hot water didn't come out quite enough. It took ages to fill the tab. It's a bit annoying to unlock the door of the entrance to the accomodation area every time.
excellent location, very romantic room, charming staff + excellent food in the restaurant
Attractive building and courtyard; helpful staff. None
Enthusiasm of young staff Some of the young staff needed training in finesse at waiting at tables, also sometimes their facility in English was not the best
Breakfast fire alarm going off in the early hours
Room and service was excellent. Food was delightful. Close to everything we would need, ie bus/train station and shopping. Bed was hard and the pillows felt like they had got mixed up with sand bags.
Help from staff, location of hotel, the fact that it was 800 years old. Room was a bit small.
Close to the Town Centre, very clean hotel with attentive staff. Food was reasonably good. Brakfast was great. Hotel is on a cross roads and it would appear near Bars and clubs, so at around 2pm it can be quite noisy. Room 84 either has the main water or sewage down pipe and was very noisy at times.
Near the centre. The heating system not heat at night.
Very good city center hotel good location very good home cooked food easy too find some parking at hotel
The live music in the bar downstairs was great. The room was really nice as well. The shower was A little loud so I couldn't rest while my partner showered, but not a big deal.
Poor and shabby, tired old place - was up for sale and I can see why
The only negative would be the lack of hooks to hang your towels on in the bathroom.
Easy access from the centre of town. Not very clean, shower was unserviceable.
Over all 80% enjoyable, staff good Very few parking places,no breakfast
Clean modern bar / restaurant. Convenient town, cathedral and shops. Parking. Over 25s restriction, varied age mix of bar customers, live band rocked on to packed venue! Staff excellent. Food looked good but we'd booked to eat elsewhere. Very friendly owner/manager let us leave car whilst we shopped for day after check out. Great value for town centre, good choice of restaurants and cafes for breakfast near by. Tea/Coffee in room. Will stay again :-) Could leave some biscuits or a couple of fruits in room.
Very clean. Friendly staff Can't think of any!
Friendly, Really helpfull, Localized close to the main places.
Nothing is good - have maybe once been a charming pub with rooms upstairs. Receive your guests friendly with respect. Our booking though booking.com - the hotel only had 1 room booked even I had a mail with a confirmation for 2 rooms. Water was dripping from the ceiling when it rained. Due maintenance of the rooms and restaurant, make fresh food etc etc…..
location The hotel was dirty, no air conditioning and expensive. The kettle was missing from the room and the curtains were held back with a safety pin which cut my finger!
If you happen to be traveling to salisbury and want to tour the cathedral, you can't get a better location as it is right across from the entrance to the grounds. The staff were very friendly and competent, the rooms were well maintained and the bathrooms were spacious and very clean. But this inn is very old, the rooms are very tight, and it just isn't that comfortable. We did not feel there was adequate value for our rate of GBP100/night (jul09).
Clean and tidy with the only non-euclidean staircase in existence.
Friendly staff and a great ability to fulfil all our needs! I booked the hotel initially for my wedding night! We ended up having our wedding reception there as well and was a fabulous day, food and service was great and couldnt ask for any better - Big thank you to the hotel!
Relaxing and very central for shopping. NA
Altogether a very charming and unusual hotel. Very friendly staff and high attention to details. The long walk from the Car Park - over 10mins walk with luggage. The cooked breakfast, although lovely, was a little small. And kept awake by talking on the first night until 2.30am and by another guest at 3am the next evening walking through and banging doors! Arghhhh!! But this did not put us off our stay, but think the price could be a little lower.
Location. Staff made a real effort to be helpful. No telephone in room. No explanation of use of 4 keys or how to lock room. Locked in the hotel when all staff went off for part of Sunday. The low service level does not reflect the high price. The operation seemed rahter amateur in terms of customer service.
the quantness of the place, floors and walls sloping in all direction, which is not suprising for a building over 400 years old. Very poor value for money, no services, reception closed @ 1800pm, no hotel lounge as such, only a bar/resteraunt.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant for both brekfast and dinner was excellent if a little expensive for the dinner. No phones in the rooms. No room service. No shower caps in bathroom. It was a lovely hotel for a break but not for business use. I was hoping to recommend this hotel for business use but without the first 2 facilites above I am unable to do so.
we only used the sleeping facility
Please write at least 15 wordsCity centre location and value for money are excelent, the city centre is within easy reach NA
The staff were friendly and the room was fresh and clean There was a situation in the early hours where people were shouting and kicking doors. There were no numbers to call for assistance
great city centre location, friendly helpful staff, comfortable room and a good breakfast. I would recommend this accomodation. N/A
Close location to cheap multi storey car park.
central location towels not changed until requested
A beautiful hotel, very centrally located, clean, welcoming, staff were friendly and helpful, wonderful english breakfast.
Clean, comfortable, cheap and handy for the city. Everything was fine aprt from difficulty with parking.
Great location, helpful staff, very clean with quite a nice breakfast.
I liked having my breakfast in my room, the fact that the hotel was close to the bus staton and the shops. I found the room cold, though staff did give me extra blankets and on the second day a heater for the room. The noise from the night clubs if i stay again i would request a room at the rear of the hotel.
Very pleasant hotel and, at the discounted price on a winter Friday night of £65 B&B for two, very good value. At the rack rate of £125 it would be a bit steep. Excellent breakfast. Handy for bus stops to and from the centre of the city No criticisms whatsoever.
Looking to relocate
Staff made the stay a pleasure, the hotel itself was comfortable. I was unaware from the website that the part we were staying in was an addition to the original building, which was not as nice.
Good Parking Room decoration had an Egyptian them, wall paper/pictures that I found was not very relaxing to look at Seemed very expensive for the level of facilities to me
Good value, convenient for cathederal and city centre, nice large rooms, friendly staff A bit souless/corporate
A very comfortable hotel with easy access, convieniently located in the centre of Salisbury, helpful and friendly staff, and good food, excellent!
Very friendly and helpful staff
Hotel well situated for Salisbury shops and cathedral, just a 10-15 minute walk by the river. The staff were friendly and the evening meal good value. The breakfast was ok but not the best full English I've ever had. This didn't spoil my stay though and I'd recommend Milford Hall Hotel.
Free Wifi connection
My room was large, modern and had a v. Big bath/shower which is great for Uk standards. Staff were courteous and helpful. Breakfast was enough till dinner for me!
The staff were cheerful and really went out of their way to help, both reception staff and waitress'S. The room was very good but there was a motor running downstairs somewhere, sounded like a cooler that kept on starting and stopping. Not too loud but when we got to sleep it did not bother us too much There was no light above the sink in the bathroom and it was difficult to control the water temperature but the water was very hot. Also the bath left a lot to be desired and was stained.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was nice. The choice of food available was very limited. and the hotel could do with a revamp.
Very nice room with character Shower did not work correctly
The staff at the hotel are so friendly and helpful. The location is very good for Stonehenge. It looks a bit tired, could do with redecoration!!
All members of staff were second to none when it came to service and politeness. They were a credit to the hotel. The rooms could do with updating. This was the only thing that let myself and members of my party down. (No hot water, rooms very cold etc).
very pleasant and helpful staff. very comfortable bed. good location for Stonehenge decor disappointing for the price, all rather tired and old fashioned. dogs (all well behaved) allowed in the bar but not good if you don't like animals
Staff were friendly, good location On my reservation I had asked for a room with 2 beds, we were given one, which they then did change. There was mold growing on the wall and cielings in the bathroom/shower. There was a wedding reception and it was very noisy and staff did nothing to quiet very loud drunken lads outside our room window. Sunday breakfast was 55 minutes late!!! (Apparently the cook just did not show up for work), and the carpet in the room was so old and dirty my son kept his socks on and did not want to walk on it barefoot!
We had a good room where one of the Beatles stayed long ago. Was nice Last breakfast was not good prepared. To late not ready every one complaint
.The age of the hotel and some old features. Decorations were very tired, poor location and no parking
The owners were extremely friendly and made me feel very welcome. I would feel very comfortable staying there again.
I haven't got time It was all very well presented
Would have liked an evening meal however basic ie jacket potato.
The staff was excellent and did so much to make my wife's arrival on her birthday very, very special. Also, the breakfasts were exceptional. I have no negative comments.
Great breakfast Walking distance to city centre!
Great room, fantastic breakfast, helpful staff. Really good value, would recommend.
The room was excellent all round and the staff were very friendly. Nothing to dislike at all.
Good location and very nice room. This is more of a motel than a bed and breakfast. Not quite what we expected.
Lovely friendly staff - very chatty. Good clean rooms Bed was far too soft and felt like the matress was on a slope Not good value for money - didn't feel it offered any more than a good guest house
Clean, quiet location, easy access to Salisbury Nothing
I liked the atmosphere I did not like the fact that it was gone 2.30 before we could get any sleep due to the noise in the bar and people coming up to their rooms really late next time if there were not any rooms on the top floor i would have to go to another hotel.
very nice old building hotel prices for b&b standard.
setting room was below expectation and could benefit from more attractive make over - bathroom fittings old
The view from the window - very picturesque the noise from people leaving the bear fest - we didn't realise when we booked that there was one going on.People were still outside our window calling a cab at gone 2.am. The breakfast was the worst we have ever had. 45mins for a cold hardboild poached egg !!
The friendliness of the welcome
location room dirty small bathroom particularly bad
The Location was superb being close to the town centre and the cathederal but not in it. too many stairs for an oldie
a very good room and a good breakfast
More of a country inn than an hotel which suited us perfectly. Cosy, good beer, good food, good atmosphere, waking to beautiful sunrises over the mill race and river. The weather was very cold and the resaurant, with hardly anyone in it, could have been warmer. Dinner served on cold plates.
