We only used it as a stopover, but would love to stay longer another time it was excellent, we are going into France for a visit soon, and will use Best Western on the way if there are any!
Very scenic views looking down over Salobrena Town & Coast Line. Hotel Staff were not very friendly. Food was very poor. No entertainment provided by hotel. No shops/restaurants/bars within walking distance.
Isolation from the crowd.
gorgeous views from our balcony, the restaurant and from the pool terrace air conditionining did not work the night we were there! There is only a buffet restaurant and the snack bar only serves basic sandwiches and snacks.
Great position with lovely views and great balcony with pool. Could be a great place with a bit of TLC but very tired and never been finished. had to pay for very poor tennis court.
Thought it was very relaxing and great place to chill out needs at bit of refurbishing
position, room size, free wifi, swimming pool area un po' "scrostato" richiederebbe una rinfrescata.
The view. Run down. Elderly clientelle (SAGA).
the staff was the best part of the hotel the cleanliness of the hotel was very poor and items that were supposed to be available were not i had been to this hotel before but it has got very poor
Nice spacious bedroom, spotlessly clean and very handy for the town for walking to places.
Hotel staff very helpful, minor problem with booking which was resolved very quickly and efficiently. Receptionist spoke quite good English (better from our Spanish) The hairdryer in the bathroom was broken, other than this everything was fine.
Great value for money, beautiful clean room and comfortable beds
Nice staff, great view from the yakuzzi, perfect value-for money relation thin walls - if you are susceptible to noise bring Oropax
The location was excellent, the staff were very friendly, the rooms very clean. Value you for money was excellent and i would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Beautifully maintained, typically Spanish Hotel with a great roof terrace. No
Clean, good location a little bit noisy as the room had a view on the street
Easy to find, 5 minutes walk from the beach, easy to find parking close-by Not in a very nice area, on a main road, very noisy at night
Very friendly and helpful staff, very clean, the location near shopping, restuarants and beach all in walking distance. Garage for security of car.
The hotel was ideally placed for visiting the old town with its white houses and arab castle and also the beach. Approximately ten minutes, slow walking, to reach both. It was unfortunate that the restaurant and spa facilities were not available although i understand the reason as it was out of season. Worth re-visiting when in season. Also, the arab castle would be lit at night.
Location was great on the beach. Secure parking was free. Staff were helpful. Balcony furniture was a little tired.
Tea or coffee was not available in the room. Not being able to speak Spanish we found it quite difficult to comminicate except with the staff at reception who were good.
Clean, simple hotel in nice location. Wi-fi was a convenient bonus. Poor sound insulation within hotel. Woken during night by sound of furniture being moved in other parts of hotel. Shower and other plumbing noises loud and clear.
had a very relaxing stay staff very helpful we would have liked a la carte menu
The location, it is very good in a quiet area close to the beach and also close enough to Motril. Nothing we didn't like.
Very friendly staff
The staff is friendly, the location in the city of Motril is really very good, but don't think it correspond to modern level of seaside and beach holidays Very old fit out of the rooms, lobby etc. The breakfast is poor, the jus from concentrate, the coffe from automatic machine, the beach is not far, but it is municipal beach with 10 umbrellas for all the people
A well kept hotell from the 80s. Even the music in lobby and restaurant areas intact since the grand opening it seems like. Look elsewhere if you are looking for gourmet food
Location to the beach If you are a back ache sufferer do not stay at this hotel. The bed is the hardest bed I have ever slept in. Might as well have slept on the floor!!!!!!
good value for money the lesure facilities let the hotel down. The pool was supposed to be heated and was cold as was the jacuzzi (one of the main reasons for picking the hotel)
Good service, comfort,good food,friendly,nice location.
The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The hotel is located on Velilla Beach which is away from the busier beaches nearer the town centre. However, the shops and cafes of the town are only a short walk away along the seafront promenade.. I could not fault the hotel. We took the half board option and had good food and a large bedroom with a seaview on the cooler side of the hotel. There were plenty of other guests at the hotel who also seemd to be enjoying their stay.
Very nice hotel, situated very close to beach, nice pool, good value, very good rooms. Definitely will recommend. Best place we stayed in spain
the reception staff were friendly/helpful. Location was good adjacent to the beach, also the area is not full of tourists - i.e. there were mistly Spanish families on holiday there The breakfast was not what you would expect from a four star hotel -hard croissants each day! Same limited fruit selection every day and also limited cereals. Coffee (machine) was cool also. Overall could be much improved with little effort.
A nice room We had asked for a nonsmoker room, but were placed in a smoker's room. We mooved to another room, also a smoker's room. After two days we got a nonsmoker room.
I liked that this hotel is more isolated than others.
This is the second time my wife and I stayed at this hotel. It is very good value for money if you book well in advance. The rooms are really very nice. There are some nice cafes to on the beach front to the left of the hotel, and a very nice small, like private beach, just up the hill to the right of the hotel.I would advise on a car rental if you decide to stay here as ther is not a lot going on. Just really very far out from shops and so on. If you have rented a car for your holiday, this hotel is really good value for money. From here you are only 20 minutes from Motril, a nice small Spanish city. A trip to Granada to see the Alambra is a must! Also go and see the Nerja Caves, and Balcones De Europe in Nerja town, a half hour drive from this hotel.
lounge, dining room and bar facilities excellent.comfortable room and calm peaceful atmosphere (november) very helpful staff
I enjoyed the spacious room
Good location close to the sea. Beds were extremely hard and uncomfortable. Restaurant only served buffet meals. Charge for using car park. More like a 3 star hotel rather than a 4 star.
The hot food was cold both at dinner and at breakfast. The quality and quantity was excellent.
the beds were huge and the hotel facilities clean and good improve food choice at lunch and dinner
Ok family room at the apartment part of the hotel For a four star hotel, there was some cheep solutions regarding equipment at the room, and it was only equipped for 4 persons while it was 6 beds... Some loose tiles at the floor, and some of the equipments at the bathroom needed repairs.
Super clean Gym equipment is old and not working
Good room Too much people, too much strees with breakfast and dinner
Dinner-drinks not being included in half-board.
Excellent facilities Coffee was cold at breakfast
Rooms and balconies were big and and staff polite. Great view from the balcony. I was disappointed because nobody informed us that the outdoor swimming pools are going to be closed until spring. I would not have chosen that hotel if I had known that. Food in the hotel restaurant was terribly tasteless and bland. The rooms were fairly clean, but the toilet had a smell of urine and there were some hair on the floor. Maids came to clean everyday but the hair did not disappear. One of the pillows had a disgusting smell, but we did not have to use it, as we had 2 bedrooms and needed only one.The kitchen was advetised as fully equipped. In fact we had 2 pots and one cover + one small and scratched frying pan. There was no spatula, no colander, no bowl, no sharp knive, so the kitchen was almost useless.
relaxing surroundings, quiet, clean, good breakfast, evening meal, good starter and sweet. Although the food in general was ok, the main evening meal, was poor, either undercooked or overcooked, cheap cuts of meat added to the poor quality. Not 4 star hotel quality
We had a car and travelled to the National Park beaches and in-land to beautiful villages. The beaches in La Herradura are lovely and at the time we went, not crowded. There is a little harbour to walk around but everywhere is very quiet out of season. It was mostly used by Spanish and got very busy at the weekend. The numbers increased from about 100 to 600 and I believe to 1000 in the high season!During the week it was fine for us considering the good deal we had.
Swimming pool, view, breakfast Lift, lack of parking availibility
a functional and clean hotel - not one to spend lots of time in but did the job - air con was a godsend! very hard to find free parking nearby - staff did not know where best to find it - and directed us to the 19 euros a day underground car park 10mins walk away. if you stay here, park for free further west up the hill inland
Pleasant staff. Good service. Excellent location and views Parking is a nuisance as key has to be collected. Roadworks outside - not their fault!
Close to beach, decent room, rooftop bar w spectacular views Not so much "didn't like" but it was an odd mix... There were lots of older tourists and some families many of whom seemed to enjoy the ok buffet in the basement restaurant which gave the place the feel of a retirement home in Florida and then there's this very nice club on the roof that was more or less empty.
Convenient for the beach and town plus secure parking
The hotel is totally Spanish - there were no other foreign guests. Likewise the town of Almunecar was totally Spanish. The desk staff spoke English and were helpful, the bar staff were helpful and concocted iced coffees for us - it was VERY hot. In the evening a small band played in the air conditioned bar area - people were doing ballroom type dancing, with style, which was fun. The genuine experience. The usual problem - could do with some more clothes storage and hooks on the backs of doors to hang clothes up.
Ocean view There should be dryers in the rooms
The room and its position The smell of food[ fish] outside the restaurant area
Location was near the beach and town centre. Was not informed about building work being carried out in hotel. The noise was unbearable, some guests had to move rooms. Not enough wardrobe cupboard space in room. Breakfast had poor choice and poorly cooked. Told by Manager not to use bath towels around pool but there was no notice to say that you couldn't and that pool towels could in fact be obtained from reception. Had to pay to use safe.
Hotel Helios - Costa Tropical has some amazing views of the ocean from many rooms and especially from the sun-tanning deck at the top of the hotel. The breakfast buffet is good, albeit simple - lots of fresh fruit and some nice hot dishes. The location is perfect - across from the beach and close to many restaurants. Hotel Helios started charging for WiFi on October 1st 2010 and it's a big pain... 1 hour login is 1 Euro - but if you want to check email or Skype periodically throughout the day, you need to keep buying new logins - I only found out about the full day option on my last day (5 Euros). WiFi doesn't reach all rooms - so plan accordingly. Also, it was hard to get an iron - this isn't a business hotel, but can't be beat for vacations.
Rooms are spacious. Balcony small. Beds large and comfortable. Location excellent - beech-front with convenient, local sea-food & chinese restaurants. Pool small but adequate. Spanish and no English spoken. Bar prices too expensive compared to average for locality.
Friendly owners, great location, wonderful eclectic building and decor.Amazing value for mony.Definitely would recommend and return.
The intimate surrounding, personal touch of owner keeping the facility in good condition.
Friendly helpful staff. Lovely room and facilities general reflect high level of investment
it was totally fantastic!!! the best hotel i've ever been at, and i've been at quite a lot. such a natural andaluz style, so quiet, so tidy, just perfect i say, fabulous! whenever i go i'll stay there. well, maybe it could have been a bit closer to the sea but the village is very nice so it's only a pleasure to have the walk. and the lady in the hotel, the owner, she was so nice! well, maybe it's because of the grapes i fell with it, i had the flavour in my room and i just love it, but i'm really very satisfied and recommend it ot all.
Owner recommended good restaurant and walking tour. Used pool at Hotel salopene with good views.
Nice family hostel with warm atmosphere in a good location with bus station and beach nearby, good to stay for a couple of nights but not more unfortunately, the owner Jose is a very kind and helpful person. A poor situation with parking, actually there is no parking there you just drop the car on the street where you could find a place. Also one day I was very badly surprised to find my belongings (which I placed to get dried on the towel holder) throwed on the floor in the shower room so I would advise to the maid to respect more the guests` clothes.
Fabulous place to stay, great situation for both town and beach, owner very friendly. Excellent value for money. Would definitely stay here again
The friendliest, nicest place to stay at in Salobrena. Absolutely lovely owner, great coffee, sweet (small) breakfast of pastry and toast with jam and orange juice. Clean, bright rooms (face the street - it'll be loud but the room is lovely!). The owner is friendly, helpful and hospitable - you feel very well taken care of. His recommendation for restaurants was great too! I sincerely would recommend this hotel as the best in Salobrena, and it was definitely a highlight of our stays in our Spain trip.
the owner's simpathy No free parking as apears on site. The parking is in the street
Exellent, the manager was all accomodating, the hotel is in a very good position for discovering Salobrena Might be a bit hard to find for some people
Hotel staff very helpful weather not good but plenty of umberellas at the door. very helpful in recomending places to eat but the breakfast recomendation was rather disapointing.
The friendly and very helpful owner,Javier. Also the style and good taste of the Hostal Jayma. Excellent bathroom. The room needed some drawer space.
everything about this hotel was brilliant I could not fault in anyway a must for all future travelers. the owner and his wife were lovely hosts, the rooms were spotless and comfortable, I couldnt praise this hotel enough, excellent all round hotel.
Very clean and friendly, air conditioning excellent
Manager was very pleasant and would give plenty of his time to us. no
Very clean and very tidy. The staff (owners) are exceptionally attentive. In a quiet place, 20 minutes of walk to the beach of fine gravel.
Perfect signposting to hotel, very friendly helpful owner, immaculately clean and local restaurants and cafes. The word hostal doesn't translate well into English, this is a lovely clean small hotel with no food, bar or restauarant. en espanol todo perfecto. It rained for 48 hours.
a pleasant small and charming hostal with welcoming hosts.salobrena turned out to be the most pleasant surprising destination on our driving trip in spain .it has amazing seafood restaurants on the beach and a marvellous arab castle overlooking the town. gracias amigos. nothing
The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful, providing a map to us and suggestions for good places to eat nearby, as well as how to navigate around the town. The hotel had one computer with free internet access, which was very useful and convenient for us. A key card was given to us as access to the hotel and our room, which was very convenient and easy for us to use to enter the hotel. We were very satisfied with the cleanliness of the room, and bathroom and our room and the hotel as a whole was decorated very well, with the charm of southern spain (ex. a very beautiful staircase with tile work), it gave the hotel the friendly feeling of staying in someones home. Overall, we felt that our stay at Hostal Jayma was wonderful, a great value for the price we paid! We would definitely stay here again!
The hotel is spotlessly clean and comfortable. The owners - Javier and Manuella couldn't be more helpful. Parking was never a problem and although the hotel does not serve breakfast there are some excellent cafes within a 2 min walk. The Cafeteria Goya - opposite the taxi rank - is particularly recommended. A very convenient base to explore this part of the coast - the beach is a pleasnt 10 min walk away and Granada and the Alhambra is an easy 45min drive.
Good Facilities and location First night we were placed in a room directly below the air co unit for entire building but were moved immediately the next morning on request
Location is good - right on beach and very central - right at front so great views over beach Surley staff - totally disorganised at breakfast - like staying at Butlins - not for anyone looking for a relaxing time - only for families with lots of children
Location to our friends and family who live there, and the price, and the staff all excelent. Some parts were a bit on the cold side, due to the time of year.
I liked the idea that you cannot reserve the sunbeds.
Excellent facilities. The food was very well prepared and presented with lots of choice evry evening. There was no need to go out to eat. The foyer was clean and bright and a real feature. The staff went out of their way to be helpful, even though some of them were on strike during our stay! Having an indoor pool, gym and games room was a real plus as the weather was dreadful and we couldn't go out. Even so we had a wonderful stay which says a lot for the hotel. Certainly the best place to stay in Almuñecar. Only very minor issues, nothing that would put me off. Leak in the roof, we had torrential rain, tiles missing on the indoor pool floor. No staff on duty when the pool was in use. Could be noisy when parties came in late at night.
The hotel was very lovely. The Spa and indoor swimming pool was good. The food was totally not good. I complained to the manager and his answer was to moved to another hotel. We wasn't allowed to enter the dinning room with paying first. We wanted to have a look at a menu and no menu's was available.
Good location, friendly staff, everything was pretty much as we expected to find it. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and Almunecar.Lots of Spanish guests which always says something about a Spanish hotel... The parking costs should be clear from the start - it wasn't expensive but did add a further cost and I think the site simply says parking at cost. Also the fact that they insisted on half board - no option, which was the one thing that nearly made me book elsewhere. There were a couple of nights where we didn't use the hotel simply to have dinner out, but we had to pay for it. Bit restrictive for people who don't have young families and don't want hotel food all week.
Hotel parking was expensive as no street parking was available close by. Dogs are also allowed in rooms, no thought for next guest. Only two lifts for eight floors.
Good location, nice pool, spacious rooms. Good price. Corridors need a good clean.Mediocre food at buffet. I do not think it rates 4 stars. Standards have declined since I stayed 3 years ago when it was part of Sol Melia chain.
We had a very enjoyable stay and would definitly consider staying again, Every one of the staff were very friendly & helpful
Great price. Good location - set back approx 150metres from the promenade. The rooms/balconies faced the the castle San Miguel, the old town and the main town. Between the hotel and everything eIse is a 'custard apple plantation' helps to separate it and makes it a quiet location. Decent 'spanish' style breakfast, evening meals and games room No
This hotel is excellent value for money. I have stayed in 4 star hotels that are not as clean as this, and all the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Would definately stay again!
Nice clean hotel, ideal for the more active holiday maker, Location a little far out for the not so able person, choice of bar snacks not very good,
great value for money. The helpfulness of the staff was applaudable. we were stuck in Spain after our planned departure date due to the Volcano. the staff did everything that they could to helpus. we are very grateful to them. We had 5 rooms between our family none
Good location for town centre bar prices cheaper than bars in the town very good internet system None
Convenient for our short stay. The selection of food at breakfast could be a little more varied.
We stayed at this hotel for a few nights and overall it was good. The room was small and simple and lacked some of the amenities of the more upscale places but the location was good as was the price. A/C only functions if your in the room which means you always come back to a hot stuffy room.
a fine hotel fully deserving of its 4* rating. would recommend it to friends
We were staying in the town of Almunecar to attend our friends wedding. We had a wonderful trip and really enjoyed our stay at Bahia Almunecar. We particularly liked the cleanliness of the hotel and the helpful staff, the hotel is in a very good location close to shops, beach and nightlife. It is also very reasonably priced, as is everything in Spain!
It's staff were exceptionally good and very helpful. Gave us advice on nightlife, places to see etc..
A nice pleasant place with helpful and friendly staff. Additional car parking charge of €9 per night
Location. Facilities. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast.Swimming pool.Relaxed atmosphere. No English TV.
The location There was an awful smell coming from the bathroom drains, which affected the whole room which at times was almost unbearable and not in keeping with the 4 stars. In addition there were very few staff available to serve drinks and there was no room service available. Breakfast was poor.
the flute being played in the room next door, the rooftop pool the food was very mediocre. i had dinner once and it was poor - awful, certainly not worth twenty euros. the only good thing about the breakfast was the fresh fruit. the bacon and the fried eggs were a joke as was the toasted sandwich. i stuck to the fruit. the juice was artificial, the beverage machine appalling. I expect far better than this in a four star hotel. i regret eating dinner there and resent the twenty euros spent on it.
staff and service received very good.Cleanliness of room and good choice at breakfast.
Location I have stayed there previousl and had trouble with the plumbing. This time I had to change rooms as the bath water came back through the floor due to a blockage and created a distasteful sewage smell. No apology or discount was forthcoming.
Staff friendly and helpful also english speaking which was helpful
Its not a regular hotel. Its an aparthotel for family holidays.. And from what i remember your site didnt say anything about that.
we were very disapointed to find a run down , unlockable doors, bizarre decor, poor location toilet leaked, then smelled dreadful aircon didn't work broken mirrors throughout.. soft beds..
The heating was powerful & the staff were good. The breakfast was good. The suite was very presentable. The outside rendering is in a dangerous state. We sat on our balcony & a workman knocked a load of it off the balcony upstairs right on top of us. We told reception who apologised, but there was no back up visit from the manager to see how we were. It caused cuts & bruises & made our clothes dirty. Most people would have sued. I know it was just stupidity on the part of the workman, but a show of concern would have been appreciated.
Built 25 years ago and still decorated in the style of that period, it clearly was the peak of excellence at that time. It has not lost it's charm. Swimming pool again of it's period. Buffet breakfast in the morning was wonderful! Great staff at the front desk. Masses of space in the suites, which were clean. The evening meal was from the 1980s. Gormet it was not! Eat out!!! Our children only ate the bread. Home made deserts were served in a plastic container, and were vile. We were not charged! Saying all this, we are booked back in by choice for our return journey in a few days. The benefits are much stronger than the bad points.
The pool area is amazing and the rooms were comfortable. The kitchen area in the suite needed some updating. We ordered drinks by the pool and they were terrible!
The poolside area and night-time bar areas were quite nice in terms of decor, layout and ambience. Service was incredibly slow, staff looked apathethic in terms of looking after their customers. The pool-side eating times were too short (1-4.30pm), especially when it took the staff typically 45minutes to make anything and hotel prices were expensive compared to getting the same @in town". Also it was a good 15-20 minute walk to the beach area with other bars, restaurants etc.
very good location. Lovely, light, spacious rooms. The hotel was very quiet and we were given a room with garden views which was excellent.Very good breakfasts. The staff were very helpful and polite No.Don't be put off by previous reviews !
parking place; and the fact that in the kitchen there were a lot of ants, even an apple on the table bring in the room a lot of them
We thought the room was very good. We did not like the fact that the bar and restaurant where closed and we were not informed when booking.
It was very handy having a fully functional kitchen in the room. There was a small supermarket nearby which was great for dining in. The restaurant food was not great at all, and expensive for what it was.
Staff were really nice and friendly, it's ideally situated in Salobrena, not far from the beach and restaurants.Rooms were clean and well looked after. It was above basic but it's just a very, very nice little hotel.
Good location Noice and smoking in restaurant
Good location inside Salobrena town. Nobody knows any other language except Spanish - very difficult conversation with the reception clerk.
Good people, good service well situated in the center of Salobrena. Closness to Sierra Nevada and trekking is exellent Location of the Hostal is on a very trafficated road, hence a lot of noise until past midnight
Close to all ammenities and bus routes, sea and castle. No
The staff at the hotel was very helpful
Friendly and very helpful staff. The hotel was clean and comfortable and well situated for the beach. Parking available. Good value
Hotel was easy to find. Staff were very friendly and it had a relaxed atmosphere. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Was very convenient for La Herradura beach, local attractions, restaurants etc. Shame no tea and coffee making facilities in room, but accept this is normal in european hotels. Hotel designated parking facilities only at cost, otherwise on street parking was available outside Hotel.
Staff very friendly, English speaking as well at reception. Received advice on where to park the car, much appreaciated. Enjoyed the nice rooftop terrace where we had the buffet breakfast and the waiter that walked us through all the choices on our first morning was a nice touch. The room was clean and quiet, AC making almost no noise (was not sure first if it is running this is how quiet it was). Finding your way to the hotel first time by car could be a bit confusing, you have to arrive at the back of the hotel in order to unload the car.
Loved it, excellent and would go there again. Would have loved a kettle/hot water facility in our room
I found that the htel was about average for a 3 star hotel. Nothing was out standing, but having said that I would stay there again if or when I am in that area again.
The staff were extremely friendly, very clean rooms and the food was excellent, especially the dinner. It was the best small hotel I have stayed in. The only very small niggle was that the shower was a bit small with a plastic shower curtain.
pleasant staff close to amenities
the staff were freindly, food was good location just right quite in the night i liked everything
The Hotel Almijara is a family run hotel with a warm and friendly ambiance. All the staff were welcoming and helpful, our room was spacious, the dining room bright and cheerfull with a reasonable choice for food for both breakfast and dinner and, as with the rest of the Hotel, spotlessly clean.
