This is a family owned and run B and B, around the block from the beach and a well stocked supermarket (read cheese, fruit, salted anchovies, wine, amaro, lemeoncello, pastry, bread, etc)...perfect for anyone with a car wanting a base to go to Taoromina, Messina, Savoca, Etna, Roccalumera, Aci Reale etc . But that's only half of the story...the other half is Salvatore and Alessandra Palazzo, the brother and sister who run this wonderful B and B. Breakfast is a pleasure, Sal's English is superb, his knowledge of the area and Sicily in general is that from an educated attorney turned B and B host, and can I mention he took three hours from his Saturday, drove us up to Savoca, where the Sicilian scenes from Godfather One were filmed, and walked around that town with us on a lovely sunny day, casually strolling the deserted streets of this beautiful hill town..engaging in the most delightful conversation, giving us one of the gifts that are not mentioned in guidebooks...the causal Sicilian stroll and gentle conversation on a beautiful sunny June day.. I can't say enough about Salvatore, you'll experience it yourself and also be charmed by his delightful sister Alessandra. I know the reader of this does not know me from a hole in the wall, but read all the other fine comments on this place...you will not regret it. Finally, one of the great things about this place is you can email Salvatore with a question or concern, and you'll get an informed response . Just a place that put's a smile on your face because of the people you're dealing with....the best.We are an older couple but this place is good for couples of any age. I can't say I did not like anything about this place...the only thing is that you will need a car to stay, but parking free and plentiful, since public transportation would not allow this town to be your base of trips. But with a car, the location is very good getting you easily onto the Autostrada or SS 114. Incidentally, I had read the conflicting good and bad stories about renting a car to drive in Sicily. We arrived in Catania, where we stayed for a few days, great place that city, and rented a car from AVIS located near the harbor, run by another salvatore...completely trustworthy man, classy operation, may not have auto transmission, check ahead, manual is fine except if you're not that experienced in some of the steep hillside villages, do some research, know a little about Italian road signs, etc go for the extra collision insurance for peace of mind, don't skimp money wise in this regard. I would also trust Salvatore's, of this B and B, advice or recommendations on a car rental if you wanted to rent a car from this area..
We were genuinely surprised and fell in love with the landscape and the view. Everyone in the hotel made us feel like home. For the first in arriving in Italy we were happy and relax. A very very special experience..! Bolder signs to hotel are needed.
wonderful hotel@staff, good restaurant, my best recomendations, by the way, in this village the Sicilian part of The Godfather I was shot
Shuttle bus to city centre, complimentary use of beach and towels, views over the bay from the restaurant, the command of english with the staff. Very hard beds like lying on a board, extreme amounts of cigarette smoke as you enter the hotel through the conservatory area/bad ventilation, piano playing and singing entertainment nightly till 12 midnight disturbed sleep, bad organisation at breakfast staff not prepared for guest when they came in, the bedroom was certainly not of a 4 star deluxe standard.
The room was wonderful with a great view. The hotel shuttle bus was helpful. The reception staff were friendly and also went out of their way to help. The swimming pool was being cleaned for the entire week of our stay end of June. Was not able to use it! That was a major negative. the breakfast was bellow standard. If you do go here, prepare to get hungry for lunch quickly
breakfast, room service pool
Location ideal for Taormina. Room very comfortable. Fabulous Views. Staff very helpful.Good Breakfast.Shuttle bus to Taormina big bonus. No tea/coffee making facilities in room.Instructions to use spa shower not available in room.
there were cockroaches in the bathroom which is unacceptable
The beach nearby was very nice the hotel is actually about 20km out of Taormina which I thought was misleading. The staff were quite rude unfortunately.
great pool lovely room albeit next to the autostrada staff hostile bar and lounge area uninspiring breakfast dreadful worst in sicily we tried to book spa treatments and were told the spa was booked up for a week - it was only open between 4-8pm and we should have booked treatments before arriving vastly over priced for what is was
Room & View were excellent, porter & shuttle into Taormina great too it is sold as a Spa so was disapointed that the Spa was only available in the afternoon
TERRIBLE hotel, big disappointment. I chose between this hotel and hotel next door NH Capo dei Greci. Finally I chose this hotel because it has better ranking. But it was fault! High price isn´t match with bad services and completly bad condition of hotel. Personal is unpleasant. For example bad dinner cost 32 euro but isn´t included drinks. Pool is so dirty. Aircondition in room is out of power. Bed is so hard. We didn´t wan´t to stay in this hotel, but they say that we have to pay 3 days. Finally only 2 days. If I can recommend some hotel in this location - NH Capo dei Greci is same prize and absolutely better quality.
Location is very nice and there is a lot of animation for everyone. Beautiful see views a bit noisy
Pool area.. Food... Service... Music at night... Kid/Family friendly... Outstanding views and well-kept grounds.. good stay for 3 nights I'd say.. 15 euro taxi rides into Taormina each way, even though it was less than 10 minutes away..yes, there is a bus right by hotel but at set times. Beach at bottom hotel was just okay, well, below okay.. Beaches in Taormina much cooler.... Near to the autopista, so can be a bit nosy by pool (Olimpo much quiter). Stay on the side facing Taormina... more afternoon sun and better view. Heavy on lodging for bus tours
nice staff, overall facilities available info (especially in English...), due to 3-hotels-in-one concept there was quite some unclarity regarding available services, noisy rooms (only 1 door separating us from our neighbours)
the hotel staff was very helpful and we loved the indoor pool, except for having to wear caps.
Middle range, middle income hotel, good for the price, quite boring breakfast (we stayed 10 days). Good location, excellent views. We recommend for tourists, who like to travel by car (free parking, this is problem in Sicilia).
the reception staff were helpful and it was easy to park the car. a motorway right beside it, a shower that did not work, dirty sunbeds at the pool, disguisting rooms and 10am checkout.
butifull veiw on the sea highway very close to hotel
The whole package, staff were friendly and accomodating. The facilites were great, the food was of very high standard. A great enviroment for children. Enjoyed my time at Hotel Antares would highly reccomend it and would visit again
the beautiful view, the food, the place of the hotel the elevator in the hotel was slowly
Hotel was on a steep hill with uneasy access. This should be made clear on the website. Heavily chlorinated water made swimmin gdifficult
The location of the hotel only 1 restaurant open. No possibity for a snack or lunch as no food is served between breakfast and 8pm. the restaurant option was very expensive and not flexible..50€ per pers for a buffet.... Staff were not very helpful neither friendly but that might have been due to language barrier (only 1 pers in the whole hotel speaks english) and my italian is very poor unfortunately..
the location & view no
clean rooms, wonderful views and facilities no room service. far from toarmina. a car is needed
The view The breakfast everyday same food - no creativity
Pool was ok, except for the rude and unhelpful poolattendant. The rest was a disappointment. Just about everything really. There was only one restaurant open during our stay. Set menu at 45 euro a head was expensive and the food poor. Terrible might be a better word. Breakfast was rubbish. eggs cold, bacon cold, fruit overipe and sometimes frozen, hot water lukewarm, coffee undrinkable etc etc. Staff were surly and unhelpful, total lack of information volunteered or given when asked.
Great place to stay-couldn't have enjoyed it more.
location (better to have a car), view (choose a sea view room!), facilities (swimming pools, sea platform) The breakfast - something is missing all the time. Dishes, cups ... normally dirty. Understandable in a 4* hotel. Reduced staff.
The view and location was fantastic The room was very small
Very close to Taormina but at the same time in a nice and calm site with a marvellous panorama. Well equipped (swimming pool, etc.) with a good breakfast
Restaurants closed, beach platform had no beach, internet access didn't work and staff didn't help or care, poor location, shop closed, buffet dinner expensive and cold
The hotel was lovely the staff was so friendly and the area was perfect There was a train track near the hotel which was sometimes very noisey.. But in saying that they only ran every half hour or so..
Staff very helpful and always had a smile.
The hospitality, very friendly atmosphere. N/A
wonderdul staff, services and the location of the hotel nothing
location was ok. breakfast good. The hotel is situated very close to the train tracks and also the hightway is just behind higher up so very very noisy......
Hotel organized a big wedding that lasted until 3 am with very loud music while our stay. We were unable to sleep although had earplugs on. Staff was rude and not understanding at all. We ended up leaving the hotel the next day.
Extremely helpful staff both at the reception and the restaurant, nice and spacious room, pleasantly furnished bathroom and huge balcony with great sea view. Good joice of breakfast. Very clean, free parking, direct access to the private beach (where you don't have to fight for umbrellas). Taormina is easy to reach by public transport with bus stop arround the corner. The (long) public beach begins just 200 meters away and there you will find plenty of nice restaurants and it is just a short walk there to watch or be part of a typical Italian "passeggiata" This hotel has the potential for one more star, just few things need to be beautified like the big terrace of the Bar .... or the grey concrete wall at the seafront.
Very quite hotel. Our room had a sea view. Private car parking. Helpful reception staff. Rooms have free safe boxes. Hotel is overpriced. A bit depressing neighborhood. Nothing interesting (including restaurants) in a walking distance. Extremely small shower unit. Internet not working. Hairdryer in our room was broken. Tv had only 15 channels working. Poor choice of food at breakfast.
It was very quiet and that is for me the most important. The availibility of a parking place is very welcome. For a long stay there was not enough variation in the breakfast buffet.
Good staff, good position and good services. Nice swimming pool
Brilliant rooms with sea views, private access beach and good quality food and drinks at reasonable prices. Reception staff were a little unhelpful compared to the fantastic restaurant, bar and housekeeping staff.
Quiet relaxing clean tidy attentive staff pool + restaurant both very good right on the beach. Really need a car to go off exploring anything of much interest outside of hotel.
Sea and beach
Cleanliness of rooms, and friendly staff None
Character and location Charges for using Hotel beach facilities
It is close to Taormina, however you should have a car to get to the Taormina center Coffee is very bad, - cappuccino was cold everytime. The cooler in the shower room is very noisy.
close to the beach balcony view
Easy access to the beach, very friendly staff, very clean little hotel
Service of the reception and restaurant manager. Lack of fruit at breakfast
The staff were friendly and eager to assist in helping us make the most of our time in Sicily. The rooms were clean and the view was beautiful. no
Perfect location, 10km from Taormina, far enough away from the busy holiday spot, but not too far away to drive. Good price, quite, great views over of the sea. Very helpful staff!!!
Lots of positives; Location, Staff, Free parking, Room, Breakfast inc, Views... The only negative I can think of was that there was no fruit at breakfast
nice room, very nice design. close to the airport
the staff's friendliness and readiness to help. This goes particularly for the receptionand the the room maids
The staff were incredibly helpful and went out of their way to do everything for us. The room was lovely and the view was gorgeous.
Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Hotel was however very quiet. The position on the front was good despite having stoms overnight when you could clearly hear the waves breaking. Convenient for Toarmina (only a few miles north) without being charged the earth for accomodation, with plenty of free parking available. Excellent value. Pity the indoor pool was closed during our visit but did not detract from the stay.
Friendliness of staff - they were very welcoming and most spoke very good English.
The room was well situated with a balcony that had a sea view. The staff were generally friendly and helpful, except for one waiter. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very basic with no choice and at the coffee was cold and vile on the first morning, so we did not risk it after that.
We found this b & b facility 100% plus in every way. It is a spotlessly clean and beautiful home in which to stay. The owner tends personally to the guests needs providing exactly what is requested for breakfast including the most delicious freshly squeezed freshly picked Blood Oranges. Nothing is too much trouble and he speaks fluent English. There is a small provisions shop within 50 meters. There was nothing detrimental in any way with this accommodation it was just fantastically good. Would we stay there again - yes we will it was a pleasure. You should definitely include this accommodation on your itinerary, very close to Taomina and Castelmola.
Feel like home, very nice. Good prices!
We had a very nice stay at Casa Famiani. The breakfast was freshly prepared by our host each morning and we enjoyed the best cappuccino and fruit salad for breakfast. The room was very clean and our host was very friendly. Would definitely stay at Casa Famiani again next time we visit Sicily. No
Very clean, very friendly staff. No exit from the highway, quite difficult to find without a navigation system.
Excellent location, next to the beach and near restaurants small breakfast
The service was wonderful, very helpful. The beach is really close. Breakfast was great. Very nice bed and breakfast. Newly rennovated and well done. Would definately go back.
Everything excellent! With the ost kindly host of sicilie!
The location is fantastic, just by the sea, what's more very close to the bus stop (to Taormina) and railway station (Catania, Messina). The room and bathroom (big one) were very clean, the breakfast was rich, the owner very nice and helpful. We did like everything during our stay at Casa Famiani B&B
Very genial staff, cozy and clean rooms, excellent location. Buses and trains are just 50 meters from the hotel as the sea. Water on the public beach is clean, pebbled beach. At any time you can ask questions to the owner of hotel at which he will always be able to answer. It is very nice.First time stayed at the hotel B&B class and were satisfied.
very helpful guest, very nice location!
