Pros: Brand new rooms
7.5 Good
Pros: The location was great, the rooms were renovated beautifully with a high-end feel.
Cons: A balcony in the room would have had me give this hotel a perfect score! Also, the service was just okay. For instance, if I would call housekeeping to clean my room, they would forget. That happened twice. When I had asked one of the bartenders at the bar if they had change, she said no versus directing me to where I can get change. The waiters at the restaurant "Los Proches" were also trained poorly - no attention to detail.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is located in the heart of Santo Domingo and its very close to many attractions, including malls and tourist destinations such as the Colonial Zone. The rooms were beautiful, spacious and very comfortable. The staff is very kind and generous, I lost my two gold earring in the pool and they somehow managed to find them and hand them back to me. The pool is spacious and clean, the music they play is very soothing nothing too extreme. The kids enjoyed the stay.
Cons: Once we checked in, the representative alerted us that we had to pay US $39 per person for the breakfast buffet. I quickly showed her my reservation that clearly stated that breakfast was included. She kindly asked me to take a screenshot and send it to her supervisor, however we did not receive any response from him. The next day we had to go the lobby ourselves to see what had been resolved and she let us know that we could enjoy the free breakfast. We learned that in the late afternoon thus missing out on our first day of breakfast. Room service food is not that great, and pretty pricey and takes about 45 minutes.

Pros: The decor was very cool, clean. Staff was awesome.
Cons: The hotel smelled mildewed from the entrance. The room had an incredible mildew odor. Every time the air conditioning was turned on the mildew odor grew worse. We were settled in so we bought candles and air freshener to help make the room bearable. Mildew is hazardous and this hotel should be treated.

Pros: The room was overall confortable for a one-night stay and continental breakfast in the morning met our expectations. The hotel is at a great location in the middle of the city and easily accessible to local restaurants and bars. The staff was overall friendly and check in and check out was fast and efficient.
Cons: The room didn't meet our expectations and it seemed to be more expensive than other hotels in the area. At the beginning of our stay there was no running hot water but the issue was solved within the hour. The pool area had no staff during the morning and we were unable to inquire about drinks, food, etc. The hotel placed a hold on our credit card which was reversed at checkout, but more than 24 hours after check out the hold still hasn't passed through, making it inconvenient for the traveler having an extra expense that was unaccounted for.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: I enjoyed the location and the host Rosi - very attentive, welcoming and helpful! The kitchen facilities were great to have and there is a colmado nearby where you can buy everything to make a quick breakfast. Air conditioning worked excellently and it is a must there in June!
Cons: Santo Domingo is a very busy city and I did find the location was a bit too noisy - it took awhile to get used to the city noise - so bring your earplugs and good ones for a decent night sleep! You can hear all the conversations from a nearby kiosk while in the apartment. Another surprise - no hot water in the apartment. It does get lukewarm by the end of the day as the tank is on the roof, and it can be quire refreshing in a hot weather however I would have liked to know that beforehand. Also the kitchen could have been better equipped for cooking, not enough utensils and cups/glasses.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great position and familiar management

A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours).
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was impeccable with amazing staff !! Loved the interiors ! So chic and I definitely will be back ;)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Casas del XVI is a stylishly decadent experience. You enter through a secure foyer and are directed towards a uniquely sophisticated lounge area. At this point, your vacation has already begun. You will sip fresh juices on a luscious sofa as they check you in and inform you about their services., You will then be given an iPhone pre-programmed with the numbers of the concierge and your butler. Your butler takes you to your room to show you how to access it's features. You notice the airiness of the room, the attention to detail, and all of the bathroom amenities one comes to expect. Meanwhile, the staff has already set up your lounge chairs by the pool, complete with water, two towels, and leather-bound menus. Breakfast may be served poolside or at an elegantly-set table in the courtyard. if you happen to order a few bottles of Champagne (as we did,) they will be attended to quite expertly to protect against the Caribbean heat. Quick to anticipate needs, our amazing butler Agusto knew exactly when to offer to reset our chairs in a shadier spot, provide menus, or bring more of our favorite bubbles. He was the absolute best! Lastly, the beds are one of the most comfortable I've slept in.
Cons: There is nothing bad to say! What the property may lack in ocean views, it makes up for in luxe decor, top-notch service, pristine housekeeping, and high-end clientele. :-)
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The butler was very attentive and polite
Cons: We didn’t like the first impression thanks to the pressure on payment process the lady put on us. She was very concerned on taking my Credit Card info than welcoming us. Also, we understand that this is a very antique property but due to humidity in the house, we got immediate allergies.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great decor and design. The staff were so kind and friendly.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was absolutely stunning and the property was divided into various houses, each with their own character and charm. Every item was hand selected with great attention for care with from local artists and designers. It was a magical place with the feeling of being outside the city. All the casas had their own pool and onsite butler. The staff were extremely hospitable and friendly. I would definitely return, and if I were traveling with a family, or a group of people, I would highly recommend renting one of the casas. I learned that Oscar de La Renta lived in one of the houses before it became a hotel. Owner by Small Luxury Hotels of the world. Thankt you for a wonderful stay!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The extreme privacy of the whole experience. Personalised attention and service Ample room and spaces
Cons: Insonorisation of the room from the internal court should be improved. You can hear everything from the patio in the morning.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We liked the decor. The room was large. The bed was comfortable.
Cons: There no chairs for reading in the room.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Service. Can only be described with one word :excellent!!

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Firm mattress and a ginormous bathtub!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
6.8 Good
Pros: Amenities, pool area, children's area, and lobby were very nice.
Cons: I booked 2 rooms with a king size bed and 2 twin size beds. At the arrival I was told they did not have that type of room, and they gave us rooms with 2 full beds and a extra crib. Inaccurate description. On top of that they made us pay an extra fee of $13 for the third person. The front desk personnel accepted the reservation was for a 3 bed suite but only 2 persons per room. Why should I book a 3 bed suite if we are going to be less than 3 persons in the room?
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff are so professionally and kind. All the facilities were in great condition and I loved my premium suite with all the benefits of the lounge .
Cons: There’s nothing I didn’t like , the WiFi has improved from my stay last year but I still hate hat I have to enter the WiFi code every time I disconnect for a period of time when leaving the hotel

Pros: Restaurant was good. Bars nice. Bed great.
Cons: Charged much more, upgraded room without notice. They dont respect your booking choices.
4.3 Okay
Pros: I like the location , we usually stay there when we go to Santo Domingo the location is perfect
Cons: The internet was out the whole week , there was some type of construction going on , the room cleaning crew was terrible , they never clean good , didn’t replace water bottles , towels and made my whole stay a nightmare I call several times to the front desk to address the situation and even talked to the service manager I just got an apology and we will take care of it but I was not happy at all
5.8 Okay
Cons: They were charging more money than the price in the booking reservation, they didn't give any voucher back of blocked (hold) money in the credit card used in booking.com reservation, they gave me a room so near the road without proper windows in such a busy road, after jetlag from China didn't sleep at all, my toilet exploded and i kept the water coming into the room with towels, call for service it took a while even though the urgence, then asked twice for cleaning service, finally they came and maids were talking and talking in a gossip way even if i was in the room, finally got clean towels, took a shower and ran out of there as fast as i could. Plus, breakfast was not as good as the aumount they charge for it.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful staff and excellent amenities great value for the price.
Cons: Can not complain about anything.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Best boutique hotel in the City. Definately everybody in their staff try very hard to exceed expectations every single time I stay there. Renovated hotel with very competitive prices and great food. R. Matos
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Front end service wanderfull place and room
Cons: Restaurant Food need to improve sandwich Cuban was not prepare properly Only mayonnaise with not enough mixt of meat Lasagna need more flavor Pernil with tostones the pernil has onions change flavor
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Love the Dominican coffee in the room. Staff very professional and pleasant: from the parking lot attendant, greeter at the door, restaurant staff to the front desk staff. I also had a few meetings with some dignitaries that I asked to join me for breakfast and they have a small conference room which they facilitated. It's much more comfortable than trying to have a breakfast meeting in the restaurant.
Cons: Wifi was intermittent in the small lobby area. Also, they don't seem to be accustomed to using wash cloths. Only bath towel and face towel. Just a minor thing. Not enough to keep you from a really nice business professionals - boutique hotel.

Pros: More beautiful than in the picture
Cons: Everything was good

Pros: Location was great, property was lovely as were the staff.

Cons: price of breakfast!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is a EXQUISITE! When we arrived, we were greeted by friendly staff at our car door, luggage swiftly carried in. We were exhausted from our flight from Los Angeles, and in desperate need of a bath, the reception was gracious enough to check us in a bit earlier as our room was already ready. We were so grateful, and they even offered us champagne and cookies! Small but important detail in hospitality! The building itself is immaculately preserved, it's a historic mansion, with beautiful court yards, pools. and rooms with brick and mortar walls. It's like sleeping in a museum with high tech AC and luxurious spas/gyms. The pool was refreshing, and it overlooked the ports/cruise ships passing by. The hotel is surround by 1800's century castle walls, where you can take amazing photos. They also provide $$ exchange services if you're in immediate need. They have a full bar at the pool, restaurant and complimentary coffee in the morning as well. It's location is also the best in el centro historico, right near the malecon and the famous historic areas. I would 100% stay here again and again!
Cons: nothing, everything was beautiful!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Service staff really not profesional.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very friendly and helpful, the nachos and drinks we had there were delicious, our private room and the beds were very comfy (I had the best sleep there)! Met other super nice backpackers there! So definitely THE place to stay in Santo Domingo
9.5 Excellent
Pros: There are so much to say. The location is perfect and feels very safe. If you like dancing, it is 5 mn to Parada77, the best club. The staff was incredible. Max was fun and brought good vibes. Lea is the cutest girl in town and very kind. Jess was the perfect balance between being hyper professional and very friendly. Amber is my favorite (don't be jealous) she speaks many languages and we had very smart conversations. Haynes was more reserved but nice as well. The owner, Chris was so helpful and allowed me to moved to a better room with AC because I was dying with the warmth with the fan only. If you miss this hostel, you will not have your best experience of Santo Domingo.
Cons: I loved my stay there. The only thing to be improved is the wifi in some rooms.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: There was a mold problem in the room we were initially put in. One staff member was really polite, and called the owner, Chris to find a solution. He immediately gave us new rooms, which were more expensive, without charging us extra costs. Thank you again Chris for this gesture! The day after he started working on the room to solve the mold problem: a proactive, professional reaction which made the hostel really rise in my favour. A few days later the room had been completely fixed! Apart from that one lady, all staff members were super friendly and helpful. The hostel itself is beautifully decorated and very very clean as well, an important detail for a hostel where lots of people pass by! Prepare for very hot nights though, no airconditioning! ;) Breakfast is also more than okay, some fresh fruits would make it even better! :) It's located next to the main Plaza ánd very close to the departure spot of most of the buses, it's really well located!
Cons: There was no cold water in the shower, sometimes the water was even too warm to shower. Santo Domingo is extremely hot, so cold showers are really needed! My matress was uncomfortable. One staff member - I dont know if she works there but she did give the impression to do so and sat by the reception all day, was absolutely not friendly nor welcoming. There was a mold problem in our room. One of us has astma so we asked for help, and a second opinion. She didn't take us seriously and just waved it away by saying "this is a colonial house, the smell is normal". Really unprofessional and just unkind. Luckily the owner came, noticed that there was indeed a kold problem, solved everything and was extremely polite and kind to us.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Ive visited this place before. Back then the only two things that werent super was the breakfast and the wifi. But they fixed Both and now its all excellent.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: If you are young and looking for a western styled low-key party hostel with walking distance (read: walking friendly) to multiple places you need/want to go to in Zona Colonial with great value for the price, this is it. When you get there, ask for the welcome shot (free) of Mamajunana. They make it in-house and it is better than store-bought versions (I can vouch). There is a clothesline if you don't want to get your laundry done for 250 RD. The Hostel isn't directly in the heart of the Zona Colonial, but is on the safest lit street within sight distance of two banks. The sound at night wasn't that bad, but bring earplugs and eyemasks. Note that few people in my large mixed dorm actually woke up super early. Be prepared to buy water. There is a Supermercado I went to on La Conde (main tourist strip) and 5 liters was ~85 RD Any museum you'd want to see are somewhat nearby. Highly suggest Ubering from the airport. Very cheap (compared to US), even with a foreign transaction fee with my credit card. The hostel volunteers are all friendly and young. The breakfast was actually pretty good. Bread, butter, scrambled eggs, juice from a mix, oatmeal, potatoes/onions/hot dogs, mini pancakes and waffles (I think I covered everything). Overall, I highly recommend for either short or long stay for its good value. Security is good because there is controled access day or night, and Chris, the owner, is there all the time with his two large dogs. Ask to see the scrapbook his mom made showing the process of creating the hostel-he's personally built much of the hostel with his own hands. Tip: if you WANT an airconditioned room, you ask and pay for it. Otherwise there is no escaping the heat no matter where you go. Bring bug spray and use it before going to bed! I only stayed during the weekdays so I can't tell you about the weekend. Overall, I felt really welcomed here.
Cons: Pool not used (being rennovated). Some walking required to get groceries (not changeable). Bathrooms decently clean but could be improved. I really am stretching here...erm, close the windows in the mixed dorm at night so light doesn't spill in in the morning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The atmosphere was brilliant with the bar, incredible staff and dogs! Great walking distance and good vibe!
Cons: Absolutely nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was friendly and welcoming, pretty good location, very chill place, overall great experience!
5.8 Okay
Pros: Nice outdoor with bar and pool, fun for chilling.
Cons: dirty from the inside. Room full of dust, worst matrasses we’ve had, and many cockroaches in the bathroom at night and weird staff, one did not even say hello when you enter the hostel coming back from the city.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Good location, felt really safe and the owner Chris as well as Floyd at the reception were great and friendly.
Cons: Only cold water in our shower.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: One of my favorite hostels. Love the old arcade games.
