The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good it had a lot of variety. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable and we had lots of pillows. The room was our choice, at the end of the hall and with easy access from the the room and the hall which we were bombarded by smokers who didn't smoke in their rooms but near the access'. Wallpaper isn't essential but needs re-glued or removed.
Nice clean pet friendly hotel.
Not too far from main highway- easy access for traveling, close to gas station and fast food/coffee Where to begin? I actually called to attempt to cancel as soon as we got there but wasn't able. My gut instincts were correct. We arrived after 12+ hours of traveling with our 5 month old only to wait 20-30 mins for the front desk person to come back and be able to check us in. Once we got to the room, it felt dark and dingy. There is absolutely ZERO Insulation in the walls as I could hear every step, conversation, etc coming from every room around us and the constant walking that took place in the room above us for hours. I almost called to complain to the front desk but assumed they wouldn't even bother to be available. The TV guide that is out is incorrect, and none of the channels are HD. The next morning I looked forward to grabbing a cup of coffee and leaving.. No to go cups. Overall, I would recommend staying across the street at the Hilton garden Inn for the same price and I'm sure it would be a lot nicer for the same price.
Room was fairly large and bedding was decent. The girl at the front desk overnight was very kind and apologetic which I'll get to in a minute. Unfortunately after a hot shower at around 1am the fire alarm in our room began going off (which I'm sure everyone on our floor appreciated). The phone in our room didn't work so we had to walk down to the front desk. The front desk girl told us that " it happens sometimes from the steam". Okay, so after that we request a late check out for noon, and despite that as well as a do not disturb sign on the door we are repeatedly woken up by housekeeping knocking three separate times between 9 and 11am. I wouldn't recommend a return unfortunately.
Nothing The room was disgusting and smelled of stale smoke with a broken lock on door. The carpet was grimy and stained to wear I was Leary to touch anything. The tv and lights only worked after several attempts. I didn't even attempt turning on the water or using the shower or any towels. I just wanted out of there as soon as possible! I would not recommend this place to anyone!
This hotel was very dirty and has not been maintained. Our room had significant water damage in the ceilings and walls. The bathroom, walls, and carpets were filthy. The hotel at night was very loud between the airplanes at the airport and the other guests. We heard doors slamming and people coming and going all night through the thin walls. Also, the front desk staff (morning and night) did not seem to know what they were doing. The morning staffer sat "indian style" on the floor as we checked out and didn't even bother to stand while talking with us. The hotel served it's purpose as we just needed a cheap place to crash for the night but it was overall a gross experience and we learned our lesson on staying at the cheapest hotel! Never again.
No pool or hot tub, place looks run down.
Staff was friendly and eager to please. Hotel was nice and in a great location. My problem was my room wasn't paid for by Kayak. The staff had to call and find out why the cc for Kayak was DECLINED. Also, booked a non smoking, but due to Kayak's problem ended up in smoking. The hotel staff bent over backwards to cleanse the room of the smoke smell better. They were willing to switch the room, except they were booked solid due to a very large convention.
Close proximity to the expo center, airport, Churchill downs, and Kentucky state university. Could have been cleaner, and staff could have been more organized.
It was close to expo center. The room was filthy. It was a non smoking room that smelled like smoke terribly. Half of the lights did not work. Had not been vacuumed, toilet dirty and everything was sticky. I would never stay at a super 8 again and I would not recommend it to anyone.
Nothing Paid for my room online, checked in, signed paperwork and was told my room would be ready at 1:00. Came back later that day to get room keys and was told they were overbooked and they didn't have a room for me. How is this possible if I've paid and checked in? Avoid this place at all costs!!!!
Nothkng After having reservations , tried to give us a room with no AC and offered a box fan. One towel to share for 2 days. No breakfast food except a loaf of bread We were forced out 3 hours before checkout because we were in owners daughters room and she was coming back. STAY AWAY FROM HERE!!!!
My husband and I were on our motorcycle on this particular weekend when we addressed the issue about being on our motorcycle, the clerk advised us to leave in the parking area directly in front of the office where they could keep an eye out. Of course we did, and we had not regrets.
Good location, good value for what you pay for. Nice for self travel and not entertaining someone.
We stayed 2 nights at the Super 8. The hotel was older, which is not a big deal to us. We booked it because of the price. That was definitely the plus. A nice surprise was that the room came with a fridge and microwave. That we didn't know ahead of time and found to be a pleasant surprise. The hotel itself was OK. Our room was clean, but the rest of the experience just left me ready to move on to the rest of our trip. The staff was not overly friendly, and there were never enough towels for the four of us. We had to go to the front desk to ask for more upon arrival (there were 3 towels and four of us). The second day, after maid service, there were now two clean towels (and of course our party of four had not changed). The pool was by far the smallest indoor pool I have ever seen in a hotel setting. Also, the sign stated the hours for the pool were noon-9:00. If the kids you brought are just looking to swim, this is a definite bummer.\nThe morning breakfast which is titled 'super start' is nothing to get excited about. It consisted of fruit loops or cherrios, toast, english muffin, a glazed doughnut, oatmeal, apple juice, orange juice and coffee (no decaf). That list is complete by the way. The other thing you should know before coming is that the location is not great either. The area seems run down, a few fast restaurants nearby, but it's pretty far away from anything you may want to go and do. I would definitely check out your other options. A few more dollars will probablly give you a better experience, but for a budget it wasn't horrible.
I loved the room and the service. The bed was very nice and the room was very clean. The service was great, with everything being restocked properly and promptly. The front desk was always asking if I needed assistance or if they could help in any way. I applaud the staff for a job well done and a clean hotel.
Great breakfast & dinner next door. Clean, quiet & restful for the road warrior. Exceeded my expectations. Great value.
Hi, i stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks and i felt comfortable with both safety and price. Good internet facility which i dont think you can find in any other hotels in shepherdsville (because i stayed in all hotels in shepherdsville). near to restarents and good bed room with micro wave and fridge. decent breakfast. they cleaned my room every day. friendly room service people and nice front desk staff. finally i will come here next time to stay for the price i am looking for and quality wise.
the kids loved the pool, nice hotel clean and comfortable good value lots of restaurants to choose from.
The entrance is on a back road and somewhat diffecult to initially find from the main road. We had to to wait several minutes after ringing a bell to even be acknowledged when we arrived as the front desk was not staffed. When we were finally greeted, we were told to not use online travel to book a reservation with them again. The room could have been in better condition; there was hair in the tub and mold on the shower handle. The sink and mirror outside the bathroom were tiny and poorly lit. The morning of our checkout, we were running a bit behind schedule and checked the guest book in the room to be sure of check out time. It stated that 'every effort will be made' to accomodate a late checkout if needed, so we tried to phone the front desk to make arrangements. After half an hour of the phone not being answered, one of us went down to the front desk personally to inquire about a late checkout. After waiting several minutes for someone to come to the front desk, we were abrubtly informed that late checkout was absolutely not possible and we had to leave. That was it. No explanation. No attempt at apology. Just get out. While this hotel seems like a good deal, you only get what you pay for and sometimes even less.
The room was very nice. The only problem was that we thought we would get a whirlpool bath in the room, instead it was downstairs next to the pool. For the amount we paid, we could have gotten a room with a whirlpool bath; nevertheless, we enjoyed our little stay and it worked out well. The Internet is super fast and works well. We felt safe at the hotel and it was well managed. We are very happy overall with our experience.
Wouldn't stay again. Bed was covered in noisy plastic. The tiny indoor pool had odd hours.
