Am member of the International Byron Society which is having a conference in Valladolid in the week beginning 27 June 2010, very academic, and intend to give excellent commendation for delegates either en route to Valladolid or after conference is over.
The area of Sintra is beautiful and well worth an overnight visit. The food was not to my liking. They attemped Nouvelle Cuisine, but as a former restaurant owner, it was a serious disappointment.
Very well located, nice staff and very much 'in line' with the atmosphere of Sintra.
the overall charm and quality
Our room although decor needs minor attention (broken curtain hooks) was delightful and very comfortable
The amazing view!!! The great location and beautiful room.
wonderful room and suite combination with views over the countryside, very helpful staff at reception and dining room, food good quality with attentive service giving extra information regarding wines when asked refelecting the price paid. peaceful stay despite very busy sintra over easter weekend.
The location and it's sense of history. Also the various sitting rooms in the hotel. And that unlike most hotels in Portugal, they can make a decent cup of tea! The bedroom was adequate but nothing fantastic given the star-rating
friendly atmosphere and excellent service. good food. All very good, but suggest you supply each room with bathrobes. Nice especially in the cold season
The buffet breakfast was excellent, our room was large with a lovely view and the staff were very attentive and friendly.
the setting in the hills was very pleasant shower was slow to drain and flooded the floor, children running about at 11.30pm
It is a very romantic and beautifull place, staff was very friendly and room was very clean. Beautiful view and excellent food.
Ít was such a blast staying at a palace. The help was exceptional. Felt good to be the queen for two days
We loved everything about our stay here. We would highly recommend it! The hotel and hotel grounds are beautiful. It is perfectly located to visit the area.
This is a magnificant hotel. It is beautifully decorated in sumptuous 19th Century style. The efficient and friendly staff are wonderful. The breakfast is fabulous. The location close to Quinta Regaleira is nbeatable.u The bar prices are *slightly* pricey for Portugal.
Nice and comfortable, but might be too expensive...would be good for special occasion.
Fantastic Location Food was not up to the standard of the hotel
Beauty, peace and tranquility
The woman at reception was terrific. She her English was first rate, and she was intelligent and witty. We also greatly enjoyed dinner. The shower was a little funky.
Hotel staff was super-friendly and helpful, one of the front desk staff parked our car right in front of the hotel (no charge), great location for good restaurants, transportation to the local sights, etc. Will definitely stay here again! Only problem was a lot of construction in the area... Made driving around the area difficult, but likely only a temporary problem.
Staff attitude of older Reception gentleman and Waiter in Restaurant - your General Manager and I have exchanged emails on this topic
We liked the location, staff were really nice, good breakfast! The view was spectacular! A little bit old but overall nice hotel
Great location! Parking is below the hotel and requires some fairly in depth maneuvering skills!
The rooms are nicely decorated with a nostalgic 60s and 70s classical feel with lots of dark wood furnishing. View from room is great. Nice firm bed. Location excellent. Quality breakfast. Parking and safe is free! The staff at reception could be friendlier.
Location and parking
Great location for visiting Sintra. Breakfast Buffet was good with varied choice. We have children aged 10 and 11, not sure the hotel would welcome much younger children.
the view and the location of the hotel. Hotel needs a refresh. Smells old when you enter into the room
It was very close to the centre of Sintra, and the staff on reception were very helpful. Nothing....everything fine.
The location was perfect!!! Walking distance of many castles and gardens. Spent 2 days just in this area of Sintra. Great bang for the buck (euro). the gym was nothing to write home about.
wonderful view. Best location. Wifi was totally terrible. Even right beside the router. Needs new carpeting, bedding and paint job. Concrete construction not in keeping with the charming surroundings of sintra.
Excellent central location, large comfortable room, helpful staff
Clean, comfortable, beautifully furnished and decorated. Excellent breakfast. Fantastic staff! Great view from our room.
Great interior, views, owner/ manager, a unique experience Difficult driving
The cleanliness of the rooms and bedlinen, the friendliness of Zizou and the Belgian owner, (sorry can't remember his name) who couldn't do enough for you. Very relaxing. Coffee was on tap all the time, it would have been nice to have had English tea on tap with milk.
The staff is nice, the house itself has a great atmosphere. A great buffet breakfast which includes eggs , meats, pastries and fresh fruit daily. Really *great* value for money.
The owner is wonderful. She took care of our every need....she even let us pack a picnic from her leftovers from breakfast! Our visit there was a highlight of our trip.
It was a beautiful house with large, elegant rooms. A good breakfast with homemade bread and and jams, no horrible cheap cereals. Hosts were very gracious and friendly. It was a 6-7 minute walk out of the town down a steep hill, so it was a steep walk back up into town!
Excellent location (a quick walk into the center of town), lovely room and grounds, nice breakfast included, free Internet use provided, very gracious and helpful hosts!
Everything really, but the staff in particular.
Clean room, comfortable bed, friendly staff and fantastic buffet breakfast. The walk from the town to the hotel.
Beautiful house, friendly staff and excellent home-made breakfast. It's an old house with no sound insulation so it's easy to hear other guests walking up and down the stairs or in the rest of the house.
The reception rooms and the bedroom were inviting and attractive; the honesty bar in the lounge and the expresso machine were nice touches. The owner was friendly, pleasant and helpful. Sintra is a lovely hill town to visit and the property was well-positioned within walking distance of the historical old town. We prefer the personal service of a small hotel to larger establishments and would most definitely recommend this hotel to others who feel the same way. Nothing. However, it would be good to have English coffee on offer in the lounge and on the landing as well as expresso.
