Pros: Really wonderful place in a safe and beautiful town. The view to the lake is incredible, the rooms are bright & well designed. Best of all, the owners are very friendly& helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Very nice B&B! Spacious rooms and the best view from the rooftop terrace. The couple running the place was really friendly and helpful and made us feel like home. Recommend!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Sarah and Ever have done an amazing job of converting this old school building. The bedrooms are absolutely huge and very well decorated with a comfortable bed and lots of shelves/drawers/and hooks to leave all your bits and pieces, which makes such a difference when travelling. The place was spotlessly clean. They couple are so friendly and gave great advice about local places to eat and things to do. They are always around for a chat or to answer any questions which was really helpful. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, and enjoyed on the rooftop terrace with a view of the volcanos and lake was just amazing. Our only regret was that we moved to another village on the lake! S & J
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff was nice, breakfast was excellent, view from the terrace was excellent as well. Night was clear, so the milky way was visible
Cons: Wife is scared of spiders, so of course, the biggest spider we have seen in the wild was on the wall and a scorpion was on the mosquito net. Both were removed by Ebert without harm to either
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved our stay at Casa Kaktus. A tranquil and relaxing space from which to enjoy Santa Cruz. The hosts were fantastic, great breakfasts and we enjoyed watching the world go by from the rooftop.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Big room
Cons: No lake view from the room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners were super friendly. They helped us book our transfer and we could store our luggage there after check out. They cooked us a delicious breakfast every morning. The place used to be a boarding school and the classrooms were converted into bedrooms so they are really big. Our room was very nicely decorated. There are lots of areas to hang out. There is a rooftop terrace with super views. There are hammocks downstairs and a sofa on the corridor where you can hang out reading the many books and magazines that are provided. It is a few minutes walk away from the dock which is perfect because therefore it is all quiet. We really enjoyed our stay.
Cons: Nothing. It was all perfect.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Almost everything... Lovely hosts, amazing panorama from the roof terrace, located next to the smallest and quietest town around lake Atitlan.
Cons: Beds could be a little more comfortable, Bathrooms could use some more light... But that are just minor details that did not really affect the overall experience :)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Big Rooftop with a great view on the lake. Nice to relax couple days
Cons: -
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely owners, loads of helpful info, massive rooms and comfortable beds, tasty breakfast and a handy 2min walk to the dock - all good!

Pros: Lush, green, hidden, romantic. It was almost surreal. So many little corners. The rooms are adorable. The value for money is outstanding. Food is so fresh and good portions. Try the breakfast burrito! Staff are lovely and I spent wonderful evenings sitting with other guests. Also I had to work during my stay. The wifi signal is spot on everywhere.

Pros: This is heaven
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: this place is magical. Yes the stairs are a workout but i have never experience the tranquility and the view of every angle were just beautiful!!!! It was our highlight of our entire trip...
Cons: our shower was not working properly but we managed
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Loved the location, stunning views with lots over places round the property to relax in. Staff were really helpful, delicious breakfast burrito and good coffee. We loved taking the kayak out on the like and a great spot to swim.
Cons: We opted for a shared bathroom, didn’t realise that we would have to walk outside through the property for a minute or so to reach the toilet/shower.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It has a unique location and it just seems unusual from any point of view. It feels like staying in the big garden and the view from the room is breathtaking.
Cons: The payment is a great pain... I personally did not receive any indication that no cards are accepted. The worse, the guys in the reception was not helpful at all and had a typical annoying attitude of those extremely popular places: this is how we work and we feel sorry...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We came across this hotel during our hike and decided to stay. It's paradise! The best place we stayed in during our travels in Central America. The view is unbeatable and walking around the property is like being in the real Garden of Eden. The wifi is spot on. I also liked the shared table dining principle which made it easy to meet the other guests. Can't recommend this place enough!
Cons: Nothing, it's perfect
7.0 Good

10.0 Excellent
Pros: This is an excellent place, loved the candle dinners it makes you talk to people easily and enjoy your time, staff was very nice and helpful, the view is amazing....they have many tours also...the place is simply amazing

Cons: That’s all private

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Place was spotless , the owner was very nice! Best shower we had in Central America, good Japanese food , and they have really cute rabbits in their yard!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Owner. Bed. Cleanliness. A typical Japanese owner.
Cons: Nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: exceptionally good place for this little money. clean, quiet, nice view, helpful owner,-recommend to everyone!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Extremely clean. I bet you wont be able to find this cleanness level of hostel in Guatemala or any central america. Very good wifi and dorm room feeling like a private room with a plenty of space and curtain
Cons: 15min walk from centre which was ok to me tho
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Good value budget hotel. Clean room with WiFi. Laundry service. Japanese owner is friendly and allow us for early check in, even though we miss the shuttle that can arrived at afternoon instead of early morning.
Cons: WiFi is only good at washroom or door side. Location is a bit far from ferry, but you can take tuk tuk at 10q.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast is great. Location near the airport and shuttle make this place the best choice for an early departure or late arrival..
Cons: Nothing.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Hot shower with good water pressure, cute bunnies in the patio area, clean and comfortable, nice and quiet, free coffee and tea and they collected the stir spoons to be reused.
Cons: Rooftop terrace was closed, they said you could only see buildings from it anyway. Would’ve been nicer if they had reusable cups/mugs for coffee and tea instead of styrofoam.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved Hotel El Sol. Wish all budget hotels were like it. Stayed for 2 nights after cancelling a trip to Xela due to protests and road closures. Was able to reserve a good room at a discounted price the day we checked in. My wife was sick upon arrival and the family that owns the hotel provided helpful advice for finding a local health clinic (free!). The room was clean, cozy and quiet. Plenty of space for my wife and I and our bags. And the shower... The shower! Have been traveling since November in Africa/Asia/LA and it is easily the best shower we have had access to. I will dream about it tonight. Also, you can get very tasty Japanese food delivered. The hotel is not close to anything really, from what I could tell anyways, but it is in a quiet neighborhood away from the main drag in Pana. The location is ideal for those looking for “tranquilo”. It is an easy 5 mins. tuctuc drive away from the center of Pana. The neighborhood seemed very safe. Highly recommend Hotel El Sol.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Exceptionally clean, spacious rooms. Owner was always available and attentive. it was pleasantly quiet and an overall comfortable stay.
Cons: The hotel is a decent 10min tuk-tuk ride (10q) from Calle Santander which eventually adds up and is fairly inconvenient

Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage. 10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners were so lovely! Very helpful and friendly. The room was fantastic given how little we paid. All the basics are there and in great condition!
Cons: Shower was very cold when I had one (not sure if this is the same for everyone)
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Good location, pretty quiet in an alley. (The entrance can be a bit hard to find at first, but the shopkeepers helped us a bit.) Good value for money. Nice owners, who speak good English.
Cons: It is value for money, so don't expect luxury. But everything was there, and clean. But, we could have used a reading/night light in the room. And we could have used a fan to get the warmth out in the evening.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Stuff was very friendly and helpful. Everything was clean. Bed was very comfortable. Nice common area outside with hammocks and a large table with chairs. Location was good.
Cons: The only thing we didn’t like was that it was very hard to find since there is no sign outside and we passed by multiple times trying to find it.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Helpful staff and great value.
3.3 Mediocre
Cons: We’ve encountered bedbugs here in 2 different rooms. The owner handled things very badly, instead of apologising for the situation he denied his responsibility and blamed us for bringing them in [in an incredibly rude manner]! I’m traveling with my 5 year old son and dealing with the itchy bites will be terrible. Since ALL our stays in other hotels have been trouble free I can certainly not recommend this place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hostel is close to the lake and the main street. The rooms are basic but clean and are everything you need. Carlos and Blanca, thanks a lot for the upgrade of my room and the nice ambiance. Now I'm all relaxed and already in Honduras. Good luck with everything! Saludos Rianne
Cons: I can't think of anything that wasn't good.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very wellcoming and friendly staff.
Cons: Additional and overly charged for drinkingwater and cooking.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: cute place, located in the side street to give you some privacy, but still few steps of the main street with all the restaurant and artesanales. Comfortable, with everything you need....plus very nice staff!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff was lovely and there was always someone cleaning. Absolutely spotless! Great location too, very central.
Cons: I found it quite strange that we were told we have to pay 10 Quetzales every time we use the stove. The usage of gas/electricity should be included in the price. There was also a jar asking for money so the property could buy salt, spices and oil. Again, guests shouldnt be asked for that. Either provide spices, salt etc. or not, but dont ask for money to buy condiments. Like in most hostels there were no hooks on the bedroom wall to hang towels, shower bag etc. There was a shelf though, but hooks would have been very handy.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We liked how quiet the place was. That is really rare and valuable arround the lake. The outside area is nice and has some good hamacs. The staff is kind and available. It is also possible to rent a motorbike there.
Cons: The kitchen could probably be improved. Also water could be free or cheaper for bottle refill.

9.5 Excellent
Pros: Amazing stuff, awesome vibe!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice staff.
Cons: No chargers at the beds.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: I loved this place and would love to have stayed longer. The hostel is ideally located to explore the Panajachel and the surrounding towns. The hostel and rooms clean and spacious. There is plenty of hot water and the WiFi is very good. The best thing about this hostel is Luke and his staff. They are like a family and are always so friendly to guests. Luke goes out of his way to make sure everyone feels welcome and spends time talking to guests. They organise social events every evening so it means you have a chance to chat to the other people staying in the hostel. I can see why this place is recommended in Lonely Planet and would definitely stay here if visiting Lake Atitlan.
Cons: 10% charge if you want to pay by card
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best hostel ever. Staff are amazing and make you feel so welcomed. Great place to be if looking for a short term family. I came back just for a night and had another great experience. I miss it already
7.5 Good
Pros: The staff were great and the hostel was very clean. Very social atmosphere.
Cons: The water wasn’t working all night, so I was unable to shower and the toilets didn’t flush either. I got up early the next morning to shower before I left, and although there was water, it was only cold—a cold shower wouldn’t have been my preference on how to start the day.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The staff is very friendly and helpful and you can have a lot of fun with them as well. It’s a Party Hostel, so if you like playing Beer Pong, that’s your place to go. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back. :)
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Started the day with good coffee in the morning on the roof patio. Amazing view and a variety of friendly people...
Cons: Loud barking dogs at 5 am.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Staff were friendly.
Cons: Wifi didnt really work, very very noisy from the street below.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff so friendly!
Cons: Very noisy not easily able to charge anything!

The floors are made of traditional tile and covered by area-rugs that are also hand-made.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The view! The view from the balcony of the room and poolside couldn’t have been better. Beds were comfy and hotel staff were very attentive. The woman in the gift shop is very kind and efficient with making tuk tuk arrangements. Very easy process. Art on the walls in the lobby can be bought if you’d like. Breakfast was ample but expensive—pricing similar to hotels in the U.S. Affordable stay.
Cons: No complaints!
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Gorgeous location, view, decor. Lovely gardens
Cons: Staff was not friendly, although polite, they did not meet us to pick bags while raining in check in. In general, did not make us cozy, a shame in such a nicely appointed place.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful views of Atitlan Volcanos! Clean friendly staff.
Cons: Early closing hours of pool. :( 6 pm is too early.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: I feel like the hotel is way nicer than the pictures will have you believe, it was gorgeous. the gardens were amazing and the views breathtaking. the rooms were spectacular, the bathrooms were also great

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely everything!!!!
Cons: No complains.
6.3 Good
Pros: The view from the room and the gardens
Cons: They need to improve in room cleaning. We recommend better pillows and better shower. There’s a problem with the other rooms. You can here exactly what other people next to your room are doing and saying. That is really uncomfortable.
6.8 Good
Pros: The hotel was beautiful, exotic birds, warm pool, lovely jacuzzi with a view.
Cons: The rooms needed to be cleaner. Bed sheets smelled bad, I understand they were eco friendly, but they smelled really bad. Too many spiders in my room, they need to dust and clean the floors.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing hotel at the edge of the lake, excellent facilities, very good staff, good food. The best of all: the gardens. Incredibly well kept, beautiful, and the bonus: macaws, parrots and toucans.
Cons: If you get room 108/208/308 change it. They’re much smaller in comparison with the rest. Half the balcony of all the others.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful gardens,views,and exotic animals.
Cons: Everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent service, the hotel is breathtaking!
Cons: A little bit expensive but it was worth it. I got 3 individual beds for 2 adults and 2 children so it wasn't as comfortable as expected. The description of the reservation didn't specify the size of the beds.

Cons: More like 3 star accommodation (perfectly fine) but at 4 or 5 star price. Small room; bed not too comfortable; water bottles not replaced
9.3 Excellent
Pros: great location with welcoming staff, would recommend. Only point is that you cant see the lake from here, the view is of their lovely pool area. Great size rooms, warm showers - a little slice of pana paradise.
Cons: Ad should not have a picture of the lake, however this is not a reason not to stay
4.5 Okay
Pros: Location
Cons: Not children friendly at all. Besides a really cold and dirty water pool there’s nothing else to do in the hotel. The hotel was really dirty in the hall of the bedrooms and all that dust came into the bedrooms. Had to ask to clean the rooms floor. The bedrooms don’t have A/C...
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Very nice setting. Friendly & helpful staff. Descent free breakfast that can be upgraded for a small fee.
Cons: Sheets aren’t the best but I’d definitely stay there again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We live in Antigua and come to Pana often. It has been several months since we stayed at Dos Mundos, though. The upgrades to the restaurant with the addition of a patio are great. The bathroom in our room was a total upgrade and beautiful! Cost is a few more dollars, but stil very, very affordable. Come stay. You will not be disappointed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice and cozy place, excelent food. Not much of a quiet place at night, but that's part of the place attraction for tourists. It's in a lively place.

Cons: Being 6 ft, 2 inches I need a bed without a footboard. Didn't have that at this hotel.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location of the hotel is excellent with easy access to restaurants and the boat dock to take day trips to the towns around the lake.
Cons: The restaurant is very expensive for what you get, especially for breakfast. For the price of the room they could include the basic ammenities like shampoo, lotion, etc they only provide soap from a dispenser. Also no tea or coffee machine in the room. We requested one of the rooms to be a king bed when doing the reservation, upon arrival they informed us it was not possible.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: comfortable beds, location, restaurant has a great view, staff are helpful
5.0 Okay
Pros: the location of the hotel and the museum
Cons: they did not honor their reservation they try to move us to another facility. This is the second time they sell our room.
2.5 Mediocre
Pros: Only the food was gooooood and the people in the restaurant super nice
Cons: An extremely disappointed experience with Posada Don Rodrigo hotel! Initially, I reserved a room with a lake view and air conditioning 3 months in advanced. Once I arrived at Guatemala, I called to confirm my reservation indicating that we made the reservation for a double bed room with a lake view and air conditioning. They assured and confirmed to me that the room with the lake view and ac was available. However, when I arrived after a 3 hours drive from I was told that there was not room available. My family and I spent at least 90 minutes going back and forth with the Front Desk Staff. I had to call the booking.com number. That is when the staff said they had a room but not the one I reserved. The first room they showed me was totally unacceptable and not a tiny reflection of what I reserved. The second option, was not better either but at least had a window. To give a short description, the toilet was cracked, the lamp was missing a light bulb, the bathroom was dark and there was no air conditioning or fan. My husband and family were frustrated. Then they offered a second optional room at another hotel that was a few miles away, which would have taken us away from the area. We specifically choose Posada Don Rodrigo for its location and for the description provided in booking.com. Finally, without any additional options or additional help from booking.com we decided to stay at the dump with no view or air conditioning at the same price. The front desk staff offered two breakfasts and one dinner; however, at the time of check out this was not true. We had to pay additional money for the breakfast and dinner. No amenities or discount was given after the unpleasant experience. I hope this does not happened to any other guests.
6.3 Good
Pros: I like the location and the view. Cheap laundry service.
Cons: AC in room didn't work. No soap, no Kleenex, no shampoo or conditioner.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The view across Lake Atitlan can not be beaten, the hotel was well situated, allowing easy access to the lake and the interesting towns elsewhere around the shores. The rooms were comfortable and spacious and ours opened onto a narrow but well kept strip of garden. This was on a raised level overlooking the beautiful lake. The bathroom was a little small and dark but functional. The staff in reception were very good and helpful, particularly in assisting with transfers to and from hotel and arranging a tour of the small towns on the other side of the lake.
Cons: The food was quite good in the restaurant but the hotel does cater for large tour groups, something we prefer to avoid. Not sure about security, particularly in the restaurant. Panajachel is over touristy and in retrospect I would not have chosen it as a place to stay, however I would definitely recommend Lake Atitlan as a place to visit.
4.5 Okay
Pros: We confirmed our reservation a room with a lake view the most expensive one. Upon arrival we were told that they did not have the room. We got downgraded to a dirty room with no view at the same price. I went online to book another room and the room with the lake view was available.
Cons: We were treated very disrespectful. The room was dirty and it included roaches, spiders and full of dust.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location. The grounds were breathtaking. It was just as I expected. Our team was there for a one night rest after our mission trip in Chichicastanengo. It was perfect for some rest and relaxation.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location, views staff and secure parking.
Cons: Room was slightly dark without view but we didn’t need that.

Pros: Everything is grate☺️

Pros: This place is amazingly beautiful, right on the lake and has loads of beautiful Flower and fruit trees. The place is well maintained and we could see even a wedding happening on the day we were leaving. Staff is really helpful and our kids had lots of fun interacting with them. They also have small play area for kids, The photos on the site doesn't do justice to the beauty of this place, go there and you wont be disappointed.
Cons: I was only not happy with the slide and the swimming area on the lake, I notices there were lots of nails and metal wires on the ground which can hurt your feet while walking. I believe the staff never goes to that area as they are always busy with so many events happening there. The slide is also not in good condition and my little one got cut in his hand when he came down.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The gardens, the restaurant service
Cons: It was impossible to get sleep.. too noisy!!! Staff talking by my window...children ruuning tbrough the hall. The hotel staff dragging chairs, plastic boxes ...
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were nice, great tv, cable, fan quality soap, shampoo, towles linen...Really everything and the gardens spectacular.
Cons: The only thing that could be improved is the fruit stand at breakfast. It was uncovered and there were flies. Easy enough to remedy and really a minor detail. I knew it was an event center but didn't realized that everyday various events would be going on. Not really a problem but the activities start early and staff can be heard around 7:30 am.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful grounds and view
8.3 Excellent
Pros: I loved the hotel staff's attention. They make you feel as if you are in a five star hotel, specially Timoteo!
Cons: The bathroom shower leaks a lot. Maybe from the bathtub design.
6.8 Good
Pros: The gardens and views are spectacular
Cons: The building and premises did not match the pictures at all... The building looks like it is from the late 90s. The restaurant had mediocre food at best, the first room we were put in was terribly noisy so they moved us to a different room which was away from the garden but less noisy, however it was still very clear to hear everyone who was speaking outside. I was very shocked by how high my expectations were based on the reviews and the experience in the end.
6.5 Good
Pros: Nice location. Next to the lake.
Cons: Energy problems The power goes out and it has no power plant so you can not sleep with A / C
7.5 Good
Pros: Absolutely fabulous location! Breathtaking views! I thoroughly enjoyed these!
Cons: Throughout my stay felt that I was not important. From the outset, on ordering lunch we had to sit at a table away from the views.......we were the only people eating throughout the hour we were there. There are a number of guests here on conferences, despite being the first down to breakfast we were not allowed to sit where we wanted to in the garden to enjoy unobstructed views of the lake, my family & I had our breakfast, chatted & then left an hour later & the entire front row (where we had requested to sit) was empty these delegates had not yet risen to enjoy the reserved view-I hope they appreciated it later! In fairness the second row of tables filled after 30 mins to obstruct our view. It was worse the filling day when we were only given the option of sitting furthest from the front on our own small table. We were courteous and quiet around the hotel as people were working but there was no tranquility in the garden due to the microphone for the conference taking place that was heard everywhere. In summary breathtaking views but poor attention to independent travellers.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The closeness to the shopping and other activities was great!
Cons: The rooms dis not have AC and the bathrooms were a bit small
9.5 Excellent
Pros: breakgast ok, gardens perfect lake great coffe perfect
Cons: the check in was at 3:50 pm, it was so bad

9.3 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff, clean rooms, just what we needed.
Cons: Internet in the room wasn’t always great
6.8 Good
Pros: right on mainstreet Pana, great breakfast;
Cons: too much noise. too expensive for what you're getting.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We stayed here for 5 days on our last trip to Guatemala. Since it is off season the streets and hotel is slow. The staff was friendly and helpful. The staff let us check out all the available rooms and picked out our room that we stayed in. The room was nice, but we had to climb 5 flights of stairs, kinda hard for old people. The staff is friendly and greeted us by our names ever time they saw us. The breakfast was typical, room was comfortable, and wifi was strong. The lake is a few blocks away and close to walk to.
Cons: The drawback to this hotel is even though the hotel is set back from the street, you can hear all the noises from the street including the street dogs barking all nights and the lame lounge singer from the restaurant a few doors away. The hotel offers free parking, which is a block away. All and all, this place is a nice place for travelers to stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast. Provided cold water on arrival and departure. Good location. Clean. Parking is around the corner in private lot.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This place is great, the stuff is super attentive.
Cons: there is nothing i didn't like at this hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Staff, room, hotel and Paco the parrot
Cons: Prepayment on booking. It caused much trouble upon our arrival
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff and location was great.
Cons: Wish they had better bedding and towel. They looked looked incredibly worn and at times didn’t look very clean.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: It was clean, the staff was friendly, they offered day tour & transportation options. Breakfast was good.
Cons: There are no phones in the room & the restaurant only serves breakfast, it would have been nice to have lunch & dinner there.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful, clean hotel. Francisco catered to our needs - he scheduled several shuttles, including a private shuttle to the Iximche ruins (ask for the friendly and informative guide, Armando.) Everyone else working there made our stay as comfortable as possible. Paco the parrot is cute - look for the painting of Paco behind the front desk! Choose Posada de Los Volcanos if you stay in Panajachel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was excellent. The hotel, our room, breakfast, location. But most of all the staff is amazing. Francisco at the front dest helped us with EVERYTHING. Renting shuttles, advice on where to go and not, let us store our luggages after we checked out, breakfast, timing and scheduling. We could not ask for a better host. He was truly amazing! Thank you so much Francisco.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel with the best view of Lake Atitlán. Waking up overlooking the lake and the volcanoes is amazing. Clean rooms in individual, separate units. All have a lake view. Nice and interesting hosts. Without doubt the best place possible to stay at Lake Atitlán. Our best experience in Guatemala. Bear in mind that you cannot reach the place by car. If you come by car (as we did), you need to park it in the village of Tsununa and take a tuk-tuk from there. Best to call the hotel in advance.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view from the rooms was incredible. It was super peaceful and transquil.
Cons: Nothing, it is an amazing place.
5.5 Okay
Pros: Room was large, bright and comfortable. Impressive views of the lake/volcano.
Cons: Rules, rules, rules. Seriously, it was like staying in a prison. The Information Guide contained more don't than dos. It made it hard to relax there. There are signs posted-up throughout the hotel - 'no Skype conversations in communal areas' and 'DO NOT bring in food/drinks from outside - don't make us remind you....' it bordered on the creepy. For the record, none of these rules were stated in the hotel policy when we made the booking. There is no wifi in the rooms (despite saying there is on the booking.com info). We had to go to reception to get a signal (where you are not allowed to make Skype calls). The place was deserted despite being high-season. The restaurant was always empty (we chose not to eat there) and we only saw three other guests during our stay. Felt like staying in a Ghost Town. The staff were friendly enough but could only speak Spanish, however we found the owner to be rude and abrupt. He would seriously benefit from a lesson in Customer Service. Steps, lots of steps... Only when you make the booking and request directions do you get told there are 350 steps to the hotel. As we walked up with our bags a man arrived and offered to help but did not say he worked at the hotel and did not have a name-badge. We had no clue who he was. If you are unable to hike up the stairs the only other option is hair-raising tuk-tuk ride along an unsealed mountain road. We took it once, it didn't particularly feel safe. The place could be great. We booked it as a treat - sadly we felt glad to leave.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel access and its strategic location in the mountains with volcanoes and lake in between made me feel special.
Cons: I wouldn't change a thing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: - Location is extraordinary, with amazing views of the lake and volcanos from room, swimming pool and restaurant - Lovely breakfast in outdoor space - Nice swimming pool - 350 steps to hotel give a true sense of remoteness. Don't need to worry about the luggage, as you can call from the dock and staff helps out with it - Communication with the owners was efficient and informative - Easy transportation in public boat
Cons: We liked everything of "Lomas de Tzununa"
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The situation of the property overlooking Lake Atitlan and its volcanos is magical. The welcome is second to none. The rooms are elegant and comfortable and food delicious.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food was excellent. Of course the view was spectacular, but the good food made it easy to not want to leave during our entire stay.
Cons: Coffee in the room.
6.8 Good
Pros: Amazing views and location.
Cons: Restaurant food is expensive, poor quality and the service is atrocious. The way the “hotel rules” are expressed makes it feel more like a school camp or youth hostel.

Pros: Everything except the fact that they didn’t pick us up from airport and we waited for almost two hours before realizing that we should take our own taxi.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice spot. Gorgeous views. Friendly staff.
Cons: Wish the food were more typical Guatemalan, instead of midlevel European. The view is spectacular, but would also prefer to be on the water.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view and the place are just breath taking. If visiting Lago Atirlan go to this place, don’t think it twice.
Cons: I liked everything.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Charming staff, excellent general manger, top quality food, fantastic views, very spacious and never felt crowded.
6.8 Good
Pros: Views and location
Cons: Poor customer service at the front desk No management presence
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly helpful staff. Some speak excellent English and others understand well but do not speak as well.
Cons: The confirmation process for arranging a pick up at the airport could be improved. Every other hotel that I booked in Costa Rica or Guatemala replied quickly with a form indicating their receipt of my booking request, the amount of money to be charged, and confirmation. With Casa Popolo the process was not as smooth and it required several emails. The dinner menu is the same every night. It would be nicer to have some changes.
10.0 Excellent

10.0 Excellent

Pros: Everything
Cons: Na
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Amazing views. Wonderful staff. Great breakfast.
Cons: Driveway is intensely steep. Very pricey for the area, but the views are worth it.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The views are simply amazing (wake up for sunrise!). The staff was nice, breakfast was delicious and included volcano views and hummingbird sightings. Prices at the swimmingpool bar are fair. The hotel had empty rooms and we got a surprise upgrade. They provide free bottles of water.
Cons: It is far and uphill from the town, but you can take a tuk tuk from Santa Catalina or Panajachel, and it's the price to pay for such views. They have a couple of dogs who gave me a scare and jumped on me (because of excitement, they did not hurt me at all, but it was a scare) when we woke up to see sunset from the terrace.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. The hotel is gorgeous, the views are some of the most outstanding and breathtaking. Staff if extremely attentive and friendly, breakfast is amazing. I could go on all day just praising this place.
Cons: The road to get there is really tedious
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Tzampoc Resort is hands down one of the most beautiful places that I have ever stayed on vacation. Surely, the Lake has it's own natural beauty, but the resort is gorgeous, comfortable, luxurious, and absolutely stunning to take in and admire on its own. Highly recommend drinks at the bar with Darwin and any and all food items on the menu -- you can't go wrong. Delicious! Giuseppe and his Uncle are wonderful hosts.
6.8 Good
Pros: Beautiful view of the lake!! And the staff is so nice!
Cons: No wifi could be accessed from our room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was a treat every morning. Adorable and helpful staff ready for any need or concern. Magnificent views, breathtaking sunsets
Cons: Transportation to the hotel is a little complicated since the location is on top of the hill. But the staff members are always willing to give you a lift into town or come and get you after a day exploring the lake.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Tzampoc Resort was an amazing place to stay!! 5 of us girls booked a few nights here to relax after a 10 day humanitarian trip, and this place definitely exceeded our expectations. From the delicious breakfast every morning on the deck overlooking the lake, to the poolside bar with breathtaking views and the most gorgeous infinity pool I have ever seen, we could not have chosen a nicer place. The staff was extremely nice and accommodating with some great tips. They even drove us into the town so we could hop on the public boat to visit the other islands.
Cons: We liked everything about this place!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view! It’s amazing. You never get bored. And the staff, they are so friendly. Especially the owner of the resort and the bartender at the swimmingpool. The owner brings you to the town, if you want. And the bartender does everything for you, he is a hard worker. Finally, you have a numbre of spots at the resort to relax. At the infinity pool, in the hammock or in front of your room at a table with the best view. This stay was one of our highlights in Guatemala. We stayed there 3 nights. Best place to unwind.
Cons: Everything was great!! It is very quiet there, was very nice. Do not expect crowds in the evening. You have to search for it in the city. We did not do that, it was good, the quiet, for a couple of evenings.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The views are unbelievable. Breakfast was really good with fresh fruit, followed by classic Guatemalan breakfast complete with tortillas negras etc... You can bring your own wine which is awesome too.
Cons: Pool is too cold :) We had dinner in the dark at the terrace, it was really nice there but a little better lighting would have been better. Also bar tenders and their friends seemed too busy having fun to serve you. Waiters and manager were really great but staff at the pool bar not so much.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Unreal view of the lake with an amazing pool and unique rooms designed by the proprietor himself. An amazing staff that welcomes you and caters to every need. Sit and meet the proprietor and hear his stories of traveling the world. The entire place is fit for Hemingway.
Cons: It would be great if they served dinner.

7.0 Good
Pros: The cleanliness
Cons: I emailed the hotel regarding an issue with a missing personal item after checking out of the hotel and I have yet to hear from them. Emailed them over 5 days ago.
7.5 Good
Pros: Location was fantastic. Rooms overlooked the lake. Close to main street in Panajachel and also main street along waterfront for restaurants and to get boats to other places on the lake
Cons: There were a few issues with arrival transfers but after a few ph calls to the tour company inside the hotel this was sorted.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was a nice place for rest and relaxation. We were a group of five and it worked well - the (heated) pool and breakfast at the hotel were great. We really enjoyed our balcony with views of the lake and volcanos. The location was also good, near restaurants, shops and the docks for boats to visit other towns.
Cons: The gym. We purposely chose this hotel because we wanted a place with a gym. It had one working treadmill and a stair master - and that’s it. Some free weights would be a nice addition.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The views are spectacular. The location is convenient to restaurants and shopping. The hotel arranged a boat at the market price. Parking is a little cumbersome.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location..good comfort.
Cons: No coments..
6.8 Good
Pros: Location is awesome, we walked everywhere and it didn’t take long at all. View over the lake and the volcano was pretty amazing.
Cons: Rooms are incredibly dated and have no aircon which made the nights uncomfortable. The beds are quite small compared to other hotels. The staff struggled with English which meant communication was quite difficult at times. The pool is nice but they have kids swimming lessons there in the afternoon which doesn’t make it very relaxing.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: The view of lake atitlan
Cons: A bit worn down. Needs some renovating. Pool and jacuzzis needs to be heated.
9.1 Excellent
Pros: We stay at this hotel every 2 years and it never disappoints the hotel is always clean and staff friendly! Pool is always well maintained beautiful grounds and views
Cons: Only thing is if you like soft beds these beds are a little hard.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The pool area, the room, the comfortable beds, the view, the really friendly staff.
Cons: Nothing in particular. Access to the lakefront, from the pool / garden area, was not possible during our stay. It would be good too have this restored.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Best location right in the middle of Panajachel with great views over Lago Attitlan. Huge pool with kids area and kids play area on the sun roof. Staff very helpful with early check-in and late check-out.
Cons: The hotel is quite dated and you can tell that it hasn’t been upgraded since the 70s. Virtually no electrical outlets. A bit strange that you have to go through the restaurant and reception to get to the pool area, sun roof and children’s play area. A bit annoying when you are in your wet bathing suit. On some days the open air restaurant and grounds along the pool are used as lunch stop for one of the Lago Attitlan cruises. So you’re lounging in the pool area and before you know it 100 elderly Americans are eating buffet food and looking at you from grounds around the pool. Felt a bit exposed and would have been good to know beforehand.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: the view from the room. its location. the staff.
6.8 Good
Pros: The waiters were really friendly and service was good.
Cons: Hotel is outdated and restaurant is over priced for what it is.

Cons: Noisy street in front of the hotel. But it is close by to restaurants and shopping.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I like the volcanic waters and the messages
5.8 Okay
Pros: Central so near buses to other destinations
Cons: Better off to be by the lake, this hotel had no character, no gardens or view, wifi only worked in reception

Cons: There is no air conditioners in the rooms and no wifi in the rooms also
8.0 Excellent

Cons: The room could be with more ventilation, because the only window is in the bathroom
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Quiet and nice place, spacious room, old but clean, friendly helping staff. Comfortable stay
Cons: The pictures show the playground for kids that does not exist. We picked the hotel partly because of the playground

A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
7.0 Good
Pros: The grounds were very nice.
Cons: The restaurant was not open for dinner. But we were able to go next door to the Hotel Atitlan.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a fantastic time there. A private beach, the kayak, a jacuzzi overlooking the lake, amazing!! Also the location is great, just outside Panajachel which offers plenty of things to do, retaurants and activities. Highly recommended!
Cons: The restaurant service could be improved
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is very private and quiet, few rooms. Located 10min by tuk tuk (10Q pp) from Main Street and just next to the nice Natural Reserve and beautiful gardens from Hotel Atitlan. The restaurant serves breakfast and lunch, so plan you dinner outside or bring take away food. It has a great hot shower and a good bed.
Cons: My mum missed so much to drink coffee night time, we asked at reception at 6pm but they just said the kitchen was locked and even we could buy the coffee would’ve hot water. I missed local touristic information available at reception also.
7.5 Good
Pros: Beautiful place
Cons: Toilet in the bathroom
5.8 Okay
Pros: A good location for sitting by the beach. Nice room, but the bed could have been better
Cons: Misleading information. The restaurant is only open for breakfast, and for other meals you must go to an expensive hotel about 1000. Feet away or travel into Panajachel. Cannot walk there due to a mountain between the hotel and the town. Hotel management claimed the info is correct as there is a restaurant on site . They did not claim that it was open at meal times.. We left after one night.
6.8 Good
Pros: nice location
Cons: The pool was not heated, and the jacuzzis not hot enough
5.8 Okay
Pros: Nice gardens and pool, staff is friendly and the jacuzzi is a nice place to relax.
Cons: Beds are not the best ones for a good sleep, also the location is not that easy to reach, you need to take a "tuk tuk" (20-30Q) from Panajachel downtown to the hotel or walk 25-30 min. I only recommend walk during day time because the road you have to take don't have sidewalk in one section that has a lot of heavy traffic.
7.0 Good
Pros: The grounds were nicely kept
Cons: Too expensive and the restaurant was only available for breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property! Loved the hot tub, sauna, kayaks! My friend and I even took a dip in the lake!
Cons: Having dinner on the property would be nice. Although the hotel next door is lovely.
4.3 Okay
Pros: The location is gorgeous.
Cons: Everything was just mediocre. For example, there was no water in the room. Only empty pitchers, if you wanted clean water you need to walk to the reception counter to get your pitcher filled. The water from the tap smelled so bad, and yet staff insisted it was drinkable water. The staff was not friendly at all. They were there just to "do their job". The breakfast is SO overpriced. My recommendation is, stay at the Buenaventura ONLY if the other hotels around are fully booked.
