Lovely building. My colleague arrived at 20.10 hrs after being held up in traffic. I advised that he would there around that time. The hotel information stated dinner finished at 20.30hrs but because the hotel was quiet, the kitchen staff decided to go home early so we had to find somewhere to eat outside of the hotel. Call me naive, but I thought hotels were supposed to provide a service.
Beautiful Georgian House with lovely squashy sofas in lounge. Lovely room and bathroom. Good food and friendly staff.
Wonderful listed Georgian building. Large rooms. Bags of atmosphere. Very good dinner. Lovely location on edge of small town..
Breakfast Very nerow "double bed"
The Beds were so comfortable and the breakfast perfect nothing
The hotel had decor which fitted with the style of the building. It was very comfortable and the staff were friendly and pleasant. The only thing I would say was that I missed having a bath but the shower was more than adequate.
A very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere in very tasteful surroundings.A Lovely old house with attractive gardens (Still being worked on one side). The room with kingsize bed was very comfortable and the breakfast(My choice of scrambled egg and Sausage) was freshly cooked and delicious. I was sorry we could not have dined there the previous evening .I also appreciated the Fridge in the room which was well stocked. None
Character filled building and large rooms. The bathroom and general room decor needs updating. Downstairs areas are very clean and fresh, our room wasn't in comparison. Also, a cooked breakfast would have been nice for no additional charge instead of continental.
None Booked the hotel for two nights and a meal on the Friday...... Told I could not have the confirmed second night then told I could not have the meal on Friday............ Needless to say I went to another hotel that could meet our requirements
Great food and friendly staff Hotel still being renovated
Very good room - comfortable and well presented. Lunch was excellent! The continental Breakfast was poor - no choice - not in keeping withn the rest of the Green Room
Nice room and bathroom, friendly staff
There was a generally good vibe about the place. Very pretty It didn't have a full length mirror! Essential.
Single room small but very well fitted and immaculate. Fine for one or two nights. Excellent continental breakfast with fresh fruit salad.
hotel was clean and in good order.staff friendly. small room
quiet good eating place parking and getting around to the front door hard beds
Easy access thro rear door to car park for bringing in luggage.Good choice on menu. Decent wine list for matching the food on offer. Very helpful staff (googled a destination for me and printed off a copy). No complaints.
Excellent shower pressure and town centre location very long loud and noisy council bin collection during the night/very early morning
Good TV, free WiFi, hot chocolate sachets & biscuits as well as tea & coffee provided in the room, excellent evening meal in nice dining room/bar, nice continental breakfast with home-made muesli. Friendly & welcoming staff. Felt fine as woman on my own. Room quite small, nice big powerful shower but no bath, single bed, quite hard mattress.
The room was clean very modern and the shower was one ofthe best i have used, the staff were friendly courteous & polite The only thing that i would say is regarding the continental breakfast i felt as if the quantity of what i ate was being monitored somewhat felt discouraged from eating everything that i may have wanted, although the breakfast itself was great with a choice of home made museli, croissants, & pain au chocolat, cereals & yoghurt
Everything, staff was very friendly and accommodating. Room was very clean and well decorated. Food in the lodge was well priced and very enjoyable. Would recommend and would definitely stay again, hope to next year
The staff were friendly and attentive. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom was very well appointed. Food and wine were good value and the breakfast was outstanding. Nothing all good .
Very warm welcome, nice atmosphere. Room was a very high standard. Food was delicious.
Lovely big flat screen tv, sadly not working
It is conveniently situated just off the A303. We were going from Kent to a holiday in Torquay and being 81 I did not want to drive all the way in one go. The weather but that's not HL's fault.
Pleasant friendly staff,a query over the Wincanton racecourse was delt with by telephoning the course for me whilst I had breakfast. Very good room another chair in the bedroom would have been nice instead of 1 chair and a stool,Quiet location. Good food available in the bar at fair price for Pub food .The included breakfast was one of the best you could wish for. When we checked out approx 9 45 am We had to pay the lady who cooked the breakfast as there didn't seem to be anyone else around,This was not a problem but as we had a bar bill plus evening meals put on our account should there have been a query I would have preferd to have had to deal with a member of the management.
Quality of service and rooms on offer. Breakfast was excellent.
Staff friendly and helpful noisy cistern in bathroom, plugs in both sinks didnt fit so water seeped away
Excellant accomodation and really friendly!! Breakfast was quality and food all round great!! Cheescake was the best! None actually!!
Good efficient booking service including directions, good size clean warm room directions, very friendly, efficient and helpful staff Poor lamp shades on the bedside lamps, the low energy bulbs tower above the shades. Breakfast could be an hour late on a Sunday Morning
Very good value, good clean room.
The size of the family room was good, the cleanliness was good, and having breakfast in our room was convenient. It was convenient for our purposes, but if I was on holiday I would have preferred to have a breakfast room. Also the parking was a bit inconvenient.
Clean tidy room and hotel. Centrally located. Small room. No secure parking.
Very convenient for town. none.
Nice clean room, with flat screen tv and good size bed Toilet didn't flush, not just in my room, but also my friends room. This was reported, but still didn't work. Breakfast only available as a tray delivered to your room.
Good staff high standard room appearance and space. No room to room phone, Radiators weren't on and it was cold. Shaver point and bathroom mirror light had no power.
Rooms were lovely and clean good powerful shower nice big tv Noisy room as on busy room but after complaining we were moved for our 2nd night
It was very clean with sheets / towels changed everyday. Great location near city centre. Staff friendly & helpful. Good Wi-Fi No wardrobe but coped ok. Breakfast could be better (I've seen worse!). Cabs sometimes had problems parking outside for pick ups due to parking restrictions. ooms have no phones!
Location close to towncenter small room and breakfast in to small room
Free Wi-Fi There was no hot water in the mornings. The heaters are not working properly.
Very friendly and courteous staff. Decor needs a major facelift, food cools very quickly, Wi-Fi poor; Glastonbury closes very early, and runs on Central London prices.Limited food menu
Food was particularly good - rooms newly decorated - shower excellent small rooms
Hotel location - perfect! Dining room closed on Sunday night!!! No TV remote in room. TV not tuned up properly.
The historical settings The restaurant staff are not aware of good customer skills. We had a meal and when we decided to end it with a dessert, we were told the kitchens had already been closed. Nobody had informed us
Olde World charm. Good selection of ale Poorly lit bathroom mirror and none whatsoever in bedroom
Breakfast didn't like the bucket catching rainwater in my bedroom, didn;t like the windows that wouldn't close nor the central heating that couldn't be turned down and old sponge pillows.
The building was built in the 15th century - and you can feel that when you first glance it, when you walk in, when you walk around, and even the room we were staying in was all crooked and ancient - but with all the modern facilities you would need, a perfect bathroom, convenient bed, lots of rooms to put your places in (tons of drawers). Staff was very friendly! The view from the room was not too good - through a tiny window I could see only the back of the rest of the buildings. Also, de food was quite delicious - but quite dear according to other places I've dined in the UK.
Friendly service, great location. no complaints
I was given an upgrade to a wonderful suite of rooms! really very good! The room was up a curved staircase and whilst I was having a good day with my condition I could manage to get up . However on a bad day and using my crutches I wouldnt be able to. There was a huge airconditioning unit on the roof of extension one floor below. It kept switching on and off every few minutes all night making sleep nearly impossible! I raised this in the morning and was given a £15 reduction in the fee. They said they usually turn it off at night - it ruined my stay
I liked the old character and the food was fantastic. I thought the decor was great and the beds were really comfortable we stayed in a room at the front and the room was very bright from the street and hotel outside lights they need black out fabric backing the blind. The staff were polite but when we left we were not asked if we enjoyed our stay.
Lovely staff, very friendly. Stayed for Glastonbury Carnival, so the rate was a bargain. Would definitely recommend for a budget stay. Sunday breakfast served way too early, last sitting was 8.45 am.
The lovely big fire which we sat beside when soaked through from watching the Carnival at Glastonbury in the heavy rain. the breakfast, especially the bacon. The fact that I could not have a shower as the shower door was not closing properly.
Good restaurant / bar ease of access I changed my booking (brought my daughter unexpectedly) - hotel happy to accommodate the change - very helpful
Convenient for the carnival procession jn the town. Nothing to complain about,
Ease of entry to rooms, no need to go though bars once you have checked in! Room 11 great for single stay, toilet paper the worst ever encountered!! Take your own for an otherwise pleasant stay!!
staffs are excellent no public transportation reach there
Clean tidy rooms with modern decor The room could have been a little larger
room was lovely, nicely decorated, very clean and quiet. Breakfast was delicious.Manager/owner was very helpful. one member of staff on at breakfast time was not really on the ball which left guests confused as to what the system was for ordering and left us no time to eat a cooked breakfast. However, the man on duty was very efficient.
Convenient, provided what was necessary, breakfast good and environment very clean. Room rather small although adequate. Problems with the heating which were not told to us at time of booking although manager apologised profusely when we informed him and arranged for a fire for the room.
Staff very pleasant and helpful Very good and plentiful full English breakfast. Food was hot .Room clean and warm and bed was comfortable.Would book again.Good value
Small touches like fresh milk for tea were welcome, the staff were very helpful and the bedrooms very comfortable. On the first morning some of the fruit at breakfast was beginning to turn mouldy, the bathroom ws slightly worn looking (but this is yet to be renovated by the fairly new owner).
The staff and food were excellent. It was quiet. There was nothing to dislike.
Friendly host; comfortable attic room - interesting space and decent- sized bathroom. No dogs allowed. Nothing really - wine and food not yet sufficiently geared to vegetarians
Friendliness of the staff who were there - two of them I think! Poor welcome - nobody on reception and heating not working at first in room.
Nice staff. Pleasant but smallish room with selection of beverages and good quality toiletries - unfortunately hotel was full or we would have been automatically upgraded by the owner. Good central location for touring. Food was excellent but a little pricey. Black pudding at breakfast was the best we ever tasted.
We enjoyed our stay at the Ash Hotel - the room was comfortable and the food was good
A very classy small hotel. Great personal service from the owner and indeed all his staff. Food was excellent and overall a very enjoyable and "chilling" experience. Will definately visit again None
Quiet location, attentive staff, excellent food. Nothing
The food, although a majority of people may like fancy cooking, good fresh home cooking with local fare would have suited me better. Also the service at mealtimes I found extremely slow
made to feel valued and welcome, chef made me a special vegetarian meal as i wasnt able to eat what was on the menu and it was delicious as was all the food.
Friendly atmosphere Hotel right on a Main road. Not happy with adhereance to Fire Regulations. Fire Extinguiser used to keep Hallway door open. Fire Alarm panel had many lights showing, suggesting it had problems. Fire Action card had no information on it about where to go in case of fire or any relevant information. WiFi would not work after first day
We enjoyed our stay, the room was a good size and decorated in a modern style with everything you need. the complementary bottles of water and the room fan were very welcome as it was a hot day. Staff were friendly and efficient.
Large rooms full of character, open fires in the bar.
Large comfortable bedroom, very good dinner and staff welcoming. Well located just half a mile from main A303 this is a good place to stop off for the night.
Great stay for Yeovilton Airday. Will stay again if we come down again. Food great, great staff.
Very homely Nothing
Tiny old hotel with a fair price and quality are in correct proportions. Xxx
Excellent value. We had a very pleasant room, big TV and nice bathroom. The breakfast was very good indeed served by most helpful and efficient staff. It's on our list to visit again.
Friendly and efficient staff. Good food Bar area was a little cramped. Obviously owner sacrificed bar for restaurant space.
very comfortable room. very friendly staff
friendly staff it was tired and in need of refurbishment
Very nice hotel, very friendly and helpful staff (front desk and breakfast waitress in particular). Great breakfast. Great value for money, would definitely return.
Rooms very dated and very cold bar area seats dirty and ripped restaurant too cold to eat in
The food was excellent and very good prices, nice size room car park a little small, a little more care with cleaning would be good, but this would not stop us staying again.
room was not clean, old firniture, bed was not comfortable, light in the room was not enough, and room was smelly.
convienient central n/a
The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was very well appointed and very clean with a good supply of hot water. The breakfast was excellent and the service was good too. Also I found the parking arrangements most suitable. I could not fault the hotel, staff or facilities.
No one offered to carry up my bags, I did not ask.
Friendly staff, great feel. Close to centre of town. Good food and drink. Room was a little grubby (peeling paint on ceiling, large crack around base of shower, broken guards round radiators.
Friendly staff Disappointed with the cooked breakfast
Friendly staff and a central location.
Only stayed one night. Were offered a free drink each in the bar, but it was too noisy for us. The bedroom could not be desribed as spacious - definitely small. There was no suitcase stand and nowhere to put one. Had to go outside to get to the restaurant. OK in dry weather, but not so good in cold, wet weather. People were smoking at the bar while we had breakfast. One young lady was very pleasant and seemed to be working very hard keeping up with the breakfast trade.
The location was excellent for the town of Yeovil. Just one street away from all the major shops and sights. The room was up 36 steps (no lift), it was very shabby and the curtains did not close properly. The bed was unbearably creaky and uncomfortable. We had to go and buy toilet paper!
easy access to town centre reception seemed to be closed alot of the time
a free beer needs more carparking
Hotel was fine, situation was perfect, the food in the restaurant was fine, hugh portions, breakfast grear No
Food was good quality Paid more booking on line than the advertised price at the hotel. Room was very basic and small when I found the hotel via yell.com the contact number was wrong so I could only book on line with yell
Central location, excellent breakfast, friendly staff
The friendly attitude from both reception and bar staff The bed had a big dip in the middle
Good location, very friendly staff, great value for money.
Very attentive staff, lovely room, great breakfast, nice location None
Every effort was made to make the stay as comfortable as possible. We are used to good international hotels but needed a place to stay in this location and were pleasantly surprised by the care and attention to detail, the welcome and and, of course, the excellent value.
Comfort, service, choice of breakfast foods - all excellent. Nothing was too much trouble.
Very friendly host - excellent room - charming facility and location - very good breakfast.
Wonderful service, brilliant room, excellent breakfast and wireless internet was a bonus.
A very nice place to stop, lovely village ,with history No complaints
An excellent stay, wonderful service and a fabulous breakfast None
The Hotel was excelent in both value and quality. We were greated at the car and our luggage was carried in and then the quality of service just got better.
Wonderful attention to detail Helpful staff Staff almost too helpful, if that is possible
Very welcoming place, extremely helpful host, nice and cosy room withcomfortable bed. To us it was an excellent break on the way to Cornwall.
Positive & friendly attitude of the staff
exellent spacious room with character, good food, friendly staff and superb position for wild life. Only minutes from Glastonbury which has a number of good pubs and restaurants. nothing
The Food was excellent & the bed very comfortable Although the only member of staff we met was very nice. She seemed disorganised. No info in the room..no phone. V. little hot water
All of the hotel staff were polite and friendly. The complimentary tea/coffee/biscuits/spring water and especially the port & sherry were very welcome after a hard day's sightseeing! I was also pleased to see that the hotel appears to be wheelchair friendly, an important factor for the family staying in the room next to ours.
Very welcoming staff/owner, quiet location, spacious room, good breakfast there is nothing in Meare, not even a pub, so a car is a necessity, Glastonbury, Street and Wells an easy drive away
Friendly owners and a lovely setting
I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights when visiting Glastonbury and Wells. The service is excellent and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Very beautiful and comfortable room. Excellent breakfast with plenty of choices. The hotel is situated in a very peaceful location and ideal for exploring Summerset. Absolutely recommendable.
Best poached eggs in the world. Very efficient check-in/out. Very friendly staff. Local jam, art, etc on display and available to buy. Nice looking house. Big room. Free wi-fi. Room was very cold, shower didn't work, bath took a long time to fill. Car park was down a muddy poorly lit track.
Very friendly all round. The food was excellent, it was easy to find and we would be more than happy to stay there again.
the restaurant was closed
Charming and attentive. Lovely owner always available, helpful, whenever required. Would certainly book again. Nothing at all
Large, comfortable and well equipped room. Peaceful rural location. Great breakfast with cheerful serving staff. Difficult to find, but they do provide clear directions. No mention of wi-fi in its own directory.
room was big and comfortable and well-equipped cooked breakfast wasn't very generous
Very Helpful, advised on local pubs, filled flask for our journey home, even though the weather was very cold that weekend the room temperature was perfect, obviously they had a good heating system
Our favourite hotel in Britain - its that good
Beautiful furnishings, very homely but luxurious at the same time, excellent full English breakfast.
the friendleness of the owners, and the food were superb nothing
Beryl is set in lovely grounds and the view from the bedroom was lovely. The room was very clean and comfortable with a nice size modern bathroom.
the hospitality was second to none
