Pros. This hotel is the "Gem" of Spokane. The building is very unique and perfect for couples to get away from the larger loud and busier hotels. This property has a pub next to it and they serve wonderful dinners, drinks, and tap beers. We typically eat at the Historic Davenport Hotel, Palm Court, across the street from the Lusso, for our breakfasts and brunches. The fresh squeezed orange juice and the crab omelet are our favorites. The rooms are smaller, but the bed and furnishings are exceptional. The rooms are very clean, with no dust in the corners (like most typical hotels). This hotel has a great location to downtown, including the Riverfront Mall, Riverfront Park, Venues, Restaurants, and Shopping. I feel this a property for adults, I have not see children or young adults, at this property, during our 4 stays there. and there is nothing for them to do at this property. There is no swimming pool at his property, but you are given access to the swimming pools at their sister properties. We like swimming at the Historic Davenport Hotel, and going to their spa on site.
Cons. The room temperature was too warn, the thermostats should be unlocked to allow us to set the AC below 65 degrees. The hotel security, at night, seemed very fake, you must use your card key to access into the lobby doors, but you can just walk into the hotel, from the public pub, without a card key or being questioned! The downtown bus terminal, in the Plaza Building is only 1 block away and there are quite a few homeless or sketchy looking people in that area, we feel this area is not suited for families or night walking. Just one "issue, with one staff member" during our stay this time. We travel with my licensed medical assist service dog, she is only 12.5 pounds. One evening when we were returning back to the hotel, we were confronted by the front desk staff and he told us "you can not have a pet in here". I explained that she was a service animal and not a pet, several times. This was our 5th trip staying at the Lusso and our second night, this trip, at their hotel, I corrected him that my dog was a service animal (wearing a service animal vest and I showed him her ID) He was insistent that the property "DOES NOT follow the federal and state rules regarding service animals". I asked him at call security and got a clarification that my service animal was indeed allowed at the Davenport properties. At no time did the front desk guy apologize or anything. HE should not be the front desk representative for the Davenport properties! The hotel manager, the next day, apologized but I hope that his staff will be educated and receive some sensitivity training on this type of situation, so nobody else has this anxiety during their stay.
Pros. Checking in was quick and easy, rates were very reasonable. The gym and pool area looked awesome, but I didn’t have time to enjoy. My room was comfortable, clean, well-decorated, and had plenty of good channels on the TV. Every employee that I encountered was beyond nice and professional.
Cons. Aside from a broken piece of trim on the bottom of my door, I really can’t think of any negatives. It was a pleasant stay!
Pros. Everything!!
Cons. It reminded my partner of the movie Derailed.....
Pros. Benjamin the valet/bell boy was sooo professional and nice, great young man! Bathroom was large. Allowed us to check in early.
Cons. The $17/night parking was a joke. Its a couple blocks away and you have to pay every time you exit and enter. Hotel was supposed to give us some credit back, but they didn't. Room service charges seemed exceptionally high. No fridge in room. TV cabinet doors just swung open, they didn't recede back into the cabinet which I found odd and it took up a lot of room.
