nice place and hotel, nice people at reception, good and well balanced breakfast no
The hotel was clear, with very good facilities for the price and the staff very friendly and helpful. The resteraunt just over the road, owned by the hotel was remarkable value for money. No
Specialising in up-market walking tour groups, this is a fabulous base for exploring the Emporda region and very good value. The staff could not be more helpful with itinerary details and very valuable advice on footpaths to avoid because of storm damage. I was very comfortable here as an independent solo traveller. The massage baths are a real treat at the end of the day and the roof terrace is a lovely haven. Best of all is the outstanding gourmet restaurant, which also provides the breakfast buffet of exceptional quality. There is also a good selection of restaurants in the village with high standards of cuisine and presentation. I have already recommended Hotel Rosa to several friends who can't wait to go!
Very pleasant staff. Nowhere to sit and very dark bedrooms.
Breakfast excellent variety of both freshly cooked hot spanish + english dishes with very interesting breakfast tapas / pastries Bathroom a little on the small side but to compensate there was a jacuzzi bath.
The central position gave every opportunity to walk around the narrow streets in safety. The staff were friendly and helpful and the choice of breakfast was excellent. As we were staying there off main season, it was quiet and calm in the Hotel for much of the time.It was interesting to see ordinary life from the rooftop terrace and to watch the sun setting. The signed access was very narrow and after we had unloaded our bags, the police had to be summoned to unlock the barrier to allow us to drive out and park-rather stressful on arrival. On departure we opted to carry our bags, making three trips to the car park.As mu husband has heart problems, a note concerning the limitation of access for older or handicapped people, might be considered.Alternatively, the service of a porter with a trolley would have helped. The charming church bells striking at every quarter, began to lose their charm during the hours of rest ! After the arrival of a group of gentlemen, we found the walls of the room to be very thin and could hear every ward spoken, especially as they were calling to each other in adjoining rooms.
Room clean and reasonably furnished. Staff very helpful. Restaurant excellent both for evening meal and breakfast. Atmospheric location in centre of old town - pretty to wander around.
We booked a junior suite and the room was excellent. The staff we very friendly and helpful and the restaurant (Fonda Caner) the best we found in begur.
We have stayed at the Rosa previously, and love it! Location in the town centre, the quality of the rooms and of breakfast, and the wonderful staff were all unchanged from our previous visit, thank goodness! We think the Rosa gets it right in just about everything, including price. No negatives to report whatsoever.
We were left alone to make our choices about where to dine etc-- staff did not try to pressure sell anything Sounds from adjacent rooms were quite clear.
friendly service, lovely old heritage buildng, nice room with terrace, child friendly, good breakfast bathroom was a bit cramped
First, the welcome. If Erica was welcoming, Clara greeted us like old friends! (This was our debut.) Nothing forced abou it - that's the way she is. You don't get a bise at Melia/Pullman/Marriott! We enjoyed a super dinner, served by Erica; borrowed a book or two to read; read the British & French newspapers; took a DVD from the extensive collection and watched it in our bedroom. Breakfast was thoroughly relaxed - great homemade jams. The bedroom ("Sa Tuna") was, of course, old-style, charming, with a good bed; we thought the bells of the church opposite might keep us awake, but they didn't. Smallish bathroom with efficient large-headed shower (no bath). Check-out handled effortlessly. Secure parking across the road (€7.) Nothing.
Aiguaclara turned out to be excellent choice, both the hotel and the city is fascinating. The whole hotel looks gorgeous and the owners are very friendly. Recommended for everyone looking something less touristy.
The people and their refreshing approach to the hospitality industry make this a must see hotel. This place is made by the personalities who run it. If you are looking for a slick hotel then look elsewhere. If you are looking for a beautiful, charming, interesting, welcoming relaxed experience then book now. nothing to report here.
Aiguaclara is a stylish bohemaian type of hotel. You feel as if you are staying with friends. It is both stylish and relaxed.Food-excellent. Owners extremey friendly and helpful. I would recommend to anyone.
Location. Kindness of owners
A wonderful experience. We were upgraded to a suite which was fabulous but the general experience was one of warmth, personalised attention and unique but understated luxury. Brilliantly located for exploring the town, beaches and medieval villages nearby. Would love to return .
First of all, we very much liked the village of Begur and the location of the hotel is very central to explore the place. Also, the view from the room was very nice. Therefore: location. May be our room was not the best of the hotel. Old bathroom and too many old objects lying around in an excessive effort to show propension for 'modernariato' which can become rather 'kitch'. I expected more after having read other guests comments. Rather standard breakfast.
open access to the hotel, eg. bar, lounges and the restaurant!
Very friendly English speaking owners with suggestions and assistance with activities in the Costa Brava area. Breakfast and room were fabulous.
Wonderful staff and great food. Lovely views
Excellent views and attractive garden. Relaxed atmosphere with pleasant and helpful staff. Rooms in old part of building adequate for short break.
Very quite, clean, good location
The staff was very kind. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The Hotel itself was very clean and minimal, the way I like it
very pleasant atmosphere
very nice and very cosy ,the restaurant is very good, people are very helpful and friendly
The peace, location, excellent food, nice room The staff were efficient but not particularly friendly, generally I would say the hotel was impersonal. More smiles and greetings would have been nice. Was very glad we were not staying in the grey blocks in the garden, these are very ugly and detract from the overall ambiance.
Perfect place with charming atmosphere in quiet place. Exellent staff, very helpful Nothing with the hotel as such. Not easy to get this place without precise map or knowing the region
The staff were incredibly helpful, friendly and attentive to our needs. They charge for the use of the spa facility which when paying EUR180 a night should be included.
This was an excellet hotel for those who wish to be away from the crowds but close enough to all touring places. The spa was available for our use for a small fee per day and we had the entire pavilion to ourselves including a massage . The restaurant attached had some of the best food we had durring our week along the Costa Brava. We enjoyed a quiet honeymoon stay here and everything was great! Make sure to request a specific room well ahead of time if this is important to you.
Excellent Owner/Manager Miguell, very friendly and good advice re local attractions. Room very good, lounges also. Restaurant a little expensive compared with other local rests. Facilities not available on Monday eg bar, restaurant etc. Could do with a plunge or swim pool.
It was unique and personal. Great location.
Accommodation was basic but clean and comfortable, and the terrace was a great spot for soaking up late afternoon sun. The owner was very friendly and helpful - would gladly go back to stay again.
The hotel is a beautiful 200 year house, the superior room with terrace and the bathroom were amazing. Great breakfast and restaurant! Perfect location in charming Begur, close to the most beautiful beaches of the Costa Brava. Should have 4 stars instead of 3.
It is a lovely small hotel with a true European feel. The rooms have been put together nicely with lovely use of rock and stone with accent lighting. The bathroom is nice with a large walk in shower. The room is modest (not too fancy) but beautiful with nice furniture but the bed could have been a little softer for my liking. There was a large deck off our room with which has great views of valley. The Restaurant had excellent food and good service. The location is good as it is located just outside of the town 5 - 7 minute walk or 1 minute drive. There are great little stores for fruit and bakery items in town and a grocery at the top of the hill. Excellent spot to visit all the beaches of Begur. Owner and staff very helpful & accomodating The bed could have been more comfy.
lovely centre for this superb part of the costa bravo
Very welcoming and friendly Manager and staff. Relaxed atmospere and comfortable lounge areas. The bedroom was immaculate and towels and sheets changed daily. I wish the Hotel good luck with its new bedrooms, they look superb. We will certainly return and will recommend the hotel to friends and family. No
Proximity to the sea (Costa Brava), Girona and Figueres. Breakfast only included sweet things and no local specialities.
Very friendly, comfortable and full of character. A lovely place to relax There was nothing that I really didn't like. One tiny point - a bit more light in the bedroom would have been helpful!
clean, interesting needed more light in the room; not handicap accessible
wonderful location it was up a lot of steps
Breakfast in garden, provision of beach towels, cleanliness, news every day printed out in four langauages cannot sit in garden for lunch or dinner if you pay half board, disappointed because of standard room overlooking noisy street, no balcony, nearest beach not really good for swimmers
Everything, the staff were great and the food was good. Absolutely no complaints whatsoever.
The position of the hotel was fantastic In order to have a room with a sea view you had to have half board - I did not want half board and so was not able to have a room with a sea view.
Nice location, clean rooms, nice staff, very nice restaurant, nice breakfast Showers on morning difficult (temperature of water changing from burning hot to freezing cold), no internet and minibar in rooms.
Sant Roc is a very pleasant family run hotel in lovely position overlooking Callela. The staff were kind and attentive, the food good. If I were to go there again I would definately request a room overlooking the sea, as the rooms on the front of the hotel were a little small, as were the balconies. The only complaint - if you could call it that - was that the beds were a bit small, I was sharing a twin room with my travelling companion and we both felt that they could have been a bit bigger, and the they could have been a bit further apart.
Extremely pleasant setting with good views of Calella and the sea. Attractive gardens and terrace. We were very disappointed that the Hotel refused to provide even a simple snack at lunch time, which meant that we had to take a long walk into the town.
Wonderful location overlooking the sea. Quiet rooms, excellent air-con and attentive staff Disappointed with the table d'hote menu, so pleased not to be booked on half board
Room, balconies, view of Calella, view of Mediterranean, bed, bathroom, garden, artwork, breakfast, dining, cleanliness, location, ease of access to town and beaches, parking, owner and staff efficiency and courtesy, bar, calm and relaxing environment, everything! The facility to make tea in the room would be the icing on the cake.
Relaxing hotel in a great position
Beautiful building, restaurant terrace and gardens. Good bar and restaurant service. Small, dark room that looked out onto a rock face two feet away and was directly above the reception and phone. Inexperienced receptionists. Electric bicycles, as promised on their website, didn't exist.
Relaxing & quite Did not dinne in the restaurant as there was no one else there.
beautiful grounds, easy walk to sea
Stylish hotel. Wonderfull garden and pool.
The location is really scenic and special, with a short walk down to a lovely beach. Service and staff were very pleasant and helpful. All in all very relaxing and restful. Pool great for kids. Gym facilities are in need of some investment and attention.
outstanding setting, grounds, patio and food, as well as location to town and beach. need few more amenities in room, such as Kleenex, shower mat and bathrobe.
We thought the staff we absolutely terrific and super friendly and accomodating. The location was terrific and the pool and patio was gorgeous. Breakfast was a real treat on the patio. Its an stunning building overlooking the hills. The bed needs to be upgraded. Its quite uncomfortable. Also the bathroom needs upgrading. The sink is very small and the shower is super slippery. You have to hold on while you wash to make sure you don't slip.
Food. Pool. Staff and Service. Room was small for 4 people
Beautiful setting, lovely gardens, large bedroom, a very pleasant hotel for a quiet relaxing break
I liked the Casamar because of its location and wonderful food. The hotel staff are all very friendly and made our stay very enjoyable. It did not matter whilst I was there but, in hot weather, the bedroom might have been uncomfortable because of the lack of air conditioning
Very friendly staff who were very helpful. Views and lovely balcony overlooking sea
It was a very clean and bright room, really wonderful staff and the hotel was beautiful. The lights in our room however, were not very good and we didn't have a table for our balcony like the room next door did and the tv volume was too low. Our room was also above the kitchen so it was really noisy! The hotel is gorgeous though and so friendly.
Stunning location, tastefully modernised, great food and general feeling of excellent value for money.
Lovely hotel in great location looking out over the Llfranc Beach. Ample parking and fantastic restaurant. A drink on the Terrace is a must for taking in the views. Try and get a sea view room as the internal rooms have no views which was disapointing.
perfect situation, excellent, creative cooking, great friendly staff. A great place for a relaxing break
Comfortable hotel a short walk from wonderful beaches and seaside restaurants. Free parking (limited spaces) and a generous breakfast are included.
Alga is a very quiet relaxing hotel, the food was great, especially the wonderful breakfast. Staff very pleasant and helpful.Beutiful gardens I liked the fact we could have breakfast outside and lots of tables dotted about outside where you could sit and read. maybe some entertainment at night but then we were there in October possibly there is high season We had read about jazz in calella and after a few days we discovered it was on in palafrugel we thought this could have been advertised
relaxing garden, free car parking meals at a resionable price
Wonderful extensive gardens, huge swimming pool, excellent breakfast, very clean, staff very friendly and helpful. The noise from the air conditioning unit which was located outside our room. As it was hot at night, we had to keep the window and door open, and it was noisy. If we had had a room overlooking the gardens, we would not have had this problem.
Both the evening meal & breakfast were excellent. The staff extremely helpfull and friendly.
The Gardens are beautifull and very relaxing. A must is a balcony with garden/ seaview. The buffet breakfast was a great set up for the day, the hotel itself was very tastefully decorated. There was no information in the room re breakfast times, fire safety, how to book the hotel restaurant, towel availabilty for the poolside. a small fridge and iron/ironing board would have been nice in the room.
Friendly helpful staff. good food. proximity to beaches. excellent facilities mattresses too hard as were pillows. not enough power points in room
Free upgrade to superior room (because it was a quiet time). Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast with wide choice. Good value fixed-price dinner.
Lovely grounds with well maintained garden and pool, the staff were extremely helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay The room was a bit chilly at night - although we were staying in October so expected the nights to be cool
The staff were very attentive and extremely helpful and friendly, especially when we had problems with our hire car, they did all the liaison with the local garage
the view above the beach
Setting and surroundings
The location was fabulous. Very important to get a sea view room over the cove at Tamariu. Mattresses were very hard and there were only twin beds.
nothing! staff were like gestapo especially at breakfast and food was appalling
Location overlooking the beach. Room was hot and stuffy at night.
Very relaxed surroundings and a pleasant village to visit. Good save parking. Helpfull staff. Nothing to complain about.
Hostalilo Hotel was a fantastic postion over looking the bay and 15 steps to the beach. No air conditioning! Booked triple room which was a double with extra camp bed.
Comfortable rooms without any luxury but big enough and clean. Great location and views. Helpful and friendly staff at the reception.
Wonderful veiw from my room Breakfast was very poor
I really only used the room to sleep which was lucky as it was not at all cosy. Close to the beach though which was nice. very old old furniture, strange layout - it felt a bit like we had been stranded at fawlty towers...
Lovely quiet location, spacious rooms, comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent and beautiful views from balcony. The location on a steep hill makes it a hard walk up from the port on a hot day but for active people like us it was not a problem. Needed a fridge in the room to keep water cool.
The gorgeous views of the water from our room and patio and from the breakfast patio - a superb location! The owners were very helpful and friendly, and recommended a great restaurant for lunch. The breakfast had plenty of choices and delicious coffee. And there is a coastal walking path from the town of Llafranc with beautiful views. I would love to return!
nice breakfast til 1pm, peace, calm, freedom...
Friendly owners, attention to detail (e.g candle lanterns in the garden after dark). Large, comfortable rooms and de luxe bathrooms. Clean, new swimming pool with plenty of loungers. Beautiful views of the bay and within walking distance of lots of places to eat. Comfy sofas in the bar area would have been nice, as would a greater variety of fruit and cereal in the breakfast buffet.
Staff was very attentive, sent out of their way to satisfy. Location is good, short walk to the beach and town. Breakfast was only fair.
The view was beautiful. The room was very comfortable and the family running the hotel were very friendly and obliging as was the small staff. Although we wanted a quiet hotel we felt it to be a little too quiet. We would like to have been able to have a quiet drink in the bar or on the the terrace when we returned at night but there wasn't any bar to speak of and the lights on the terrace were always switched off. One other small thing was the lack of any mirror in the bedroom. A minor inconvenience but became slightly irritating as the week went on.
It is with pleasure that we confirm this hotel, its location, the absolute quality of every aspect of the building, the rooms, the services, the pool and outside relaxation area, is one of the most pleasant holiday experiences that we have had the joy of receiving. The welcome and the services that the lovely owner family provides makes everybody feel, just that, a part of a family on holiday. The additional benefit of the most fantastic peacefully quiet location on the hillside overlooking the bay of Llafranc with its open and wide ranging, stunning views endorses the speciality of the place. A marvellous holiday experience. Not a single thing
The staff were helpful, friendly, and treated us like family. Everything was clean and beautiful. The breakfast outdoor area and breakfast choices were fantastic and the best part of our trip to Llafranc. We were impressed in every way. The location of the hotel is set back from the beach which was nice since it was a short walk, but felt like a bit of a retreat from the busyness of the beach crowd. No.
Family run and very friendly. Rooms excellent and views superb A steep walk down to the beach and restaurants. For summer a swimming pool would be nice
we loved the peacefulness and simplicity of this hotel. It was such a shame that the weather wasn't good enough to swim in their lovely infinity pool. It had a beautiful location above the town of Llafranc. I didn't realise, even after reading all the reviews, that there was no restaurant at all.Only the room for breakfast. It was also a pretty steep climb back up to the hotel from the town. Good for getting your heart rate up, but not if you were disabled in any way. A bit surprised it had such rave reviews.
the location was good, the staff was friendly very old furniture and the carpet was ancient, it was like the hotel was stuck in 1969... I was missing what I think are basic things in the room, like a kettle and a couple of cups. There was no "pampering" feel to the hotel at all. The rooms all had twin beds even though we booked a double room - I didn't like that at all...
The staff were kind. If I have to pay extra to have a double room I expect to have a double room. The beds were appauling and had crumbs in from previous customers. The bathrooms were far from acceptable. All in all very very disappointing.
Staff de la recepcion muy amable, muy buena posición del Hotel, cerca de la playa Demasiado caro, 125 euro por noche, al ser un 2 Estrellas. Desayuno sólo hasta las 10.30, las camareras son poco flexibles.
We loved the hotel. Wonderful position - sea view rooms with perfect view. Nice dining room and very good breakfast. Staff very polite and very helpful. Nice to sit outside with drinks at chairs tables and umbrellas provided. We were delighted to find such a nice hotel that would accept pets but were a bit taken aback by the price. 20 euros per dog per night. We have four small dogs and take them everywhere and this is by far the most we have ever paid. I did speak to the owner to see if he would do a "deal" should we come again but the answer was "no". Pity!
Staff extremely helpful. Cleaning staff pro-active and gave us extra pillows even though we did not request this as they had seen us use alternative bedding as pillows. Hotel was in a great location opposite beach. Despite having wonderful sea views the rooms were expensive when compared against the facilities of the hotel. Saying that, the village itself was expensive (restaurants, bars, etc) and so perhaps this price was competitive relatively speaking.
Very close to the sea front. Clean with friendly staff
The location is amazing, the staff were very helpful. Worth paying more for the room with the sea view. Lovely lovely hotel.
Excellent service, very clean, excellent breakfast. Very good location for the beach and the coastal path.
location, the new rooms (they have old ones that araen't good), service attention. Bar and Restaurant prices
The hotel overlooked the village and the beach. It was in easy walking distance of restaurants. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We felt well looked after.
Nice grounds with very large swimming pool. Terrace Bar. Large well equipped room. Variable levels of attentiveness of staff.
Absolute relaxation. Beautiful room (superior double), gorgeous gardens and pool (which never seemed too busy) and absolutely 1st class food. The breakfast was fantastic value at 12.50 euros per person and while the restaurant was by no means cheap, the quality presentation and service was as good as most top London restaurants. The only major disappointment was the the poorly advertised spa and fitness centre. This was in fact no more than a sauna, jacuzzi and two fitness machines. There was no on-site spa treatments (apparently a massage could be ordered from an external company), however for a one hour private usage of the jacuzzi and sauna cost 20 euros and to use the 2 exercise machines cost £10 euros. For what was apart from this a first class and quality hotel where we spent £1000 between two of us for a three night trip the advertising of these facilities is extremely poor and the costs seem completely unneccessary.
It was perfect. The owner-familiy does everything for the guest to feel at home. The restaurant ist outstanding. You can't eat bad!!!!! The swimmingpool is a dream.
Close to the beach. Swiming pool area nice to relax. Service treatment looks like is good if you have money. Restaurant prices are so high. They don't have wifi. You have to pay to access internet. Room decoration is old-fashioned.
Personnel were very accommodating. Room was spacious and comfortable. Pretty setting by the pool. Great restaurant and service. Made you feel like you were someplace special. There were only a few people staying there since their season was over. I wish they had upgraded us to a room with a view of the pool, instead of the parking lot.
Well furnished and comfortable bedroom with balcony overlooking the garden as requested. Lovely large bathroom. Nice little extra touches such as complimentary decanter of sherry. Excellent gourmet restaurant and very good buffet breakfast. Lovely sea water pool and garden to relax in. Although the food at the hotel was excellent there were few other places to eat within walking distance. The hotel is close to the sea with a good long sandy beach for familiies and sand dunes (preferred by nudists). We thought that there were prettier and smarter resorts such as Sa Reira, (a short drive away).
The large size of the room. The noise of the air conditioner and the fact that people were allowed to walk to the swimming pool through the dining area in the evening.
Quiet comfort, most helpful management and staff. A truly pleasant experience which has to be repeated.
Very large and comfortable bedroom with huge terrace. Excellent restaurant service. All food was expensive, no "plain" poolside menu. Daytime receptionist was inefficient and brusque at times.
The outside grounds were beautiful and it was a very relaxing setting. The breakfast was amazing. The bed was too firm.
