Cons: There was no gym facility!!! Hopefully on my return there will be one
Pros: They made every effort to make us feel comfortable and even upgraded our room/bungalow. The thermal waters felt great and our bartender made every effort to please us. Breakfast was simple, but appetizing. I wished we had stayed here more time. Thank you!

Pros: My mother using a walker was able to go everywhere on the property. The staff was wonderful and accommodating.
Pros: The room was reasonably priced after the off-season discount of 30%. The property is well-designed, and the thermal pools are nice. Tour desk staff was very friendly and helpful.
Cons: The restaurants are over-priced. WiFi only in the common areas. Can be noisy if somebody is staying in the adjoining room.
Pros: Resort overall was nicely, staff helpful and courteous at front and helping to rooms. Room service was fast
Cons: Pools a little too hot, kids didn't like bartenders serves. I also thought it was a little slow.

Pros: Great location, very customer-centric, convenient to fun activities, interesting tours, and good restaurants
Cons: Breakfast and coffee not available until 6:30. Activities have early start times so breakfast at least by 6 would be better
Pros: Comfortable and luxury rooms, great volcano views.
Cons: Food at rhe bar a little pricey

Pros: We loved the hotel! Too bad we only stayed one night because they were booked. The photos in the internet does no justice. The staff was very nice and everything was very clean. The room was large and it felt like a luxury hotel. The garden was very pretty and very well kept. The view of the volcano was beautiful. My daughter and her husband got a massage at the spa and they said the setting was beautiful in the lush gardens next to a river. The hot spring pool are drained and new water is put in in the morning. Loved everything about the hotel. Only regret is that we didn't stay there more days. We went the next day to another hotel that was more expensive and was not as nice.
Pros: Great location. Unbeatable views of Volcan Arenal. Wonderful pools and grounds. Great restaurant. Large clean air-conditioned rooms.

Pros: I cannot say enough about our stay at the Volcano Lodge and Springs. We booked it because the rainy season rates were hard to pass up and because 95% of previous guests rated it Excellent. The room rates were so low that I wondered if the ratings could be true...but I have never had more good things to share about a hotel experience! We stayed in a superior room with an amazing view of Arenal from our porch. The property is designed so that the view from your patio makes you feel like you are at a private villa. All we saw before us was Arenal and lush vegetation. There were people next to us but we never saw or heard them. You couldn't even see where the cars were parked. It was almost total solitude. The room was attractive and clean. The beds were comfortable. The shower was always warm. Our room was only a short walk from the main pool and mineral springs which was a pleasant surprise. Others will have to walk further but the grounds are so nice that the walk is like a stroll in a garden. I read some reviews that the breakfast was adequate but nothing special. I have no idea what they were talking about! To me it was a wonderful daily brunch. We stayed 4 nights and looked forward to each morning. Most food items stayed the same but how can you complain about having fresh bananas, pineapple, papaya, and watermelon, three different breads for toasting, pancakes, scrambled eggs, rice and beans, sweet plantains, lunch meat and cheese, a waffle station and made to order egg station with 6 toppings for omelets, OJ and Mango / Banana juice, and coffee to pick from? There were also two breakfast breads each day that varied and one or two different Costa Rican hot items each day that included small sausages, chicken or sausages in a creamy tomato sauce, and several types of what they called "hash"…potato based one time and green bean based another. To top it off, the restaurant has a great view of Arenal and the pool / mineral springs area and an attentive and cheerful staff. They even attached their old bananas to a nearby tree each morning to attract birds! The pool was clean and the mineral springs area very relaxing. They just added a second hot springs and bar. The grounds are filled with beautiful plants and fruit trees with a running / walking nature trail that they are just getting going. It was a bit confusing but we loved it…especially watching the intricate world of leaf cutting ants! Bottom line...you will love this place!
Pros: Great pool, amazing staff, very clean. Good location.
Cons: Wifi was weak if some places, but not a big deal!
When visiting La Fortuna, Volcano Lodge and Springs is a great choice to consider. Guests can visit the spa to indulge in deep-tissue massages, aromatherapy, or reflexology, and Restaurante Sura serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There are 2 outdoor pools and 2 bars/lounges, and rooms at this upscale lodge offer patios and LCD TVs.
Pros: Had a wonderful stay. Great location to explore the rain forest of Costa Rica. Had a wonderful room with beautiful views. Fabulous bathroom with huge Jacuzzi tub and separate shower. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Great to come back to the resort after hiking, zip-lining and ATV-ing and relax at the hot springs. Will definitely return.
Cons: Breakfast was very expensive. Buffet was $25++. The bill was $125.00 for our family of 4. We shopped in town and had breakfast in the room. Was still enjoyable. There was a fridge, coffee. Would be nice to have options for breakfast.
Pros: The surroundings were beautiful with the volcano as the backdrop. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Shuttle service to spa and springs was very timely.
Pros: The hot springs make it worth the price. We stayed for one night, but enjoyed two days on the hot springs and pools. We absolutely loved it and recommend it.
Cons: Do not expect great food. Both breakfast and dinner were highly overpriced for the quality. Dinner was so disappointing, we spent about $100 for two entrees, one appetizer and two beers, but the ribeye was could barely edible, and the special nothing to brag about. They also offer a buffet by the pool for $39/person, which we didn't try. Breakfast for $25/person was also a rip off considering I only enjoyed the fruits and yogurt. The rest of the buffet was not great, so I barely touched it. They need to invest in better food in my opinion...
Pros: Ultra luxury accommodations if u choose the Rainforest room.
What makes this place extra special is the Shangri-La, the exclusive hotel guests only portion of the thermal spa.
Can't wait to go there again!
Pros: Everything was perfect. Best service and facilities! Amazing!
Cons: The breakfast is expensive
Pros: Staff, room and Thermals are amazing.
Area for guests only is very romantic and peaceful.
Cons: Thermal waters in area for guests only was not as hot as described by staff. Due to rain, all bungalows were dirty and wet. Staff could have been more on the ball on that. Perhaps covering them with plastic sheets so they wouldn't get so wet.
Pros: The thermal pools
Cons: The cleanliness was horrible. Dingy and smell of mold. The facility needs an update badly
Pros: Everything was Amazing
Cons: A less formal eating option and less expensive breakfast.
Pros: It's a magical place that never disappoints.Very family friendly yet very romantic, too....They have also made improvements and updates to the Spa. The only negative thing is you are totally watered logged after 48 hours there. We only stay 2-3 days max. Then head to the Pacific coast.

Pros: The resort was a beautiful setting lots of greenery and a very friendly and accommodating staff. Had a plumbing problem first day but it was quickly resolved. Food was good and location was close to town but still tucked away.
Pros: The place is beautiful. The pool and hot tubs are great. When we checked in we took advantage of the special at the spa. The spa is amazing the massage was fine but the location is unbelievable, the room was open on one side facing the jungle and river I have never been to a spa before where the nature sounds were real and not played through speakers.
Cons: It's the jungle do you have to expect some bugs. There were tiny ants everywhere at the resort they did not bother anything but seeing ants crawl through the room lowers the cleanliness score to 4 stars. That being said I would stay here again in a heartbeat even with the ants.

Pros: The staff was very welcoming, pleasant and friendly. The room was very comfortable, air conditioning worked beautifully and the beds were comfortable.
Breakfast was great. Great variety of food, fresh and natural juices. Local tastes. We arrived late for breakfast as they were closes down and one of the cooks was nice enough to come over and ask us if we wanted fresh eggs and she prepared them for us.
We had 2 rooms with 2 double/queen beds. We would stay again!
Cons: I really can't say anything bad.
The only thing that was a little different was we didn't have hand towels for the shower. But I understand that I am just use to using hand towels in the shower being from the US and many other countries may not use them. This is more of a personal preference, than anything, and I personally would not hold it against the property. Sometimes it's nice to break away from the norm. :)
A great choice for a stay in La Fortuna, San Bosco Inn features a rooftop terrace and offers an airport shuttle for CRC 27500 per person. Guests can enjoy the outdoor pool, and hiking/biking trails, kayaking, and mountain biking are nearby. A children's pool and a garden are other highlights.
Pros: It was very aitentic orgsnic farm, all the personal are very frendly , the cabin and food was much beter that we expect . We enjoy the walking in the jungle explain us all rhe kind of fruts and vegetsbles and then all that we see it become in our brekfaat, including the fresh milk and eggs from their organic cows and chiken
We think once you stay there you dont have to hire trails walking becouse there are several excelent and not turist way.
Finca Luna Nueva Lodge offers an airport shuttle (available 24 hours) for USD 170 per vehicle one way. Guests can grab a bite to eat at the restaurant, or indulge in deep-tissue massages, aromatherapy, or Ayurvedic treatments. Other highlights include an outdoor pool, a bar/lounge, and a spa tub.
Pros: View of volcano was beautiful. The thermal springs were relaxing. We had a good time.
Cons: Some of the prices were hiked up. They made a mistake with our billing, so pay attention when checking out.
Pros: Nice place. Good privacy even in shared houses with private verandas. Lots of pools and other stuff to do. Great breakfast. Restaurant doesn't do takeout and pool bar, which does, was very slow, though otherwise ok. And technically they ban food from the outside. So with a small baby going to sleep early, dinner was a problem. Thankfully there are minifridges (no microwaves or coffee pots, though) and no one enforces the ban. Also water slides, while fun, are a bit dangerous - the pools are too shallow for them to be used by adults without bruising an elbow or back
Pros: Free shuttle within the facility
Pros: Great views of the valley and the mountains
We could see and hear several different varieties of birds sitting in our balcony
Decent breakfast in the morning
Cons: $50/night for kids. Most hotels don't have extra charge for kids, the one's that have are $10-$25.. $50 is a bit too much, especially with no information upfront
Registration Staff was very helpful, but did not have a lot of information outside of Monteverde. Ordering anything to the room would take a long time to get.
Concierge/Travel Desk was under-staffed. One of the person at the desk was rude and not eager to help. Other person was very helpful.
Pros: The hotel property was tropically lush, well maintained and beautiful. They had a butterfly enclosure, a rare red frog enclosure, water, crocodiles and nice paved walkways. Wonderful view of the Arenol volcano. Our room was very large with a big closet and bath. It also had a front and back door with beautiful views for morning coffee. Breakfast buffet was good with a big variety of items and nice patio to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Cons: The beds were extremely hard, I had to lay out all my pillows and sleep on them.
A great choice for a stay in La Fortuna, Hotel Los Lagos Spa & Resort features a nightclub. You can visit the spa to indulge in deep-tissue massages, facials, or reflexology, and international cuisine is served at Las Palmas, which is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There are 11 outdoor pools and an indoor pool, and rooms offer plasma TVs and refrigerators.
Pros: The location is without a doubt beautiful- however you can tell the resort needs some updating. Simple things like softer lighting, modern decorations, and new furniture in common areas would truly make this place a five star hotel. That aside, the pool/bar area is beautiful, and worth spending the time at. The rooms are huge, with amazing shower/waterfall built in. Private balconies give a sense of exlcusiveness and general feeling of getting away.
Cons: Only bar/snack area onsite didn't open until 6pm. The main restaurant food was not very good, which is unfortunate because it's where the free breakfast came from. We needed staff to come turn the private room jacuzzi on and off (which they did right away, so that's a perk), and again, just a general outdated feel in the main areas.
Pros: The location the rooms the pool and the restaurants were all amazing The staff was friendly and courteous. The staff was friendly and courteous. We got excellent customer service from John Carlo, Alan and Ana. it was amazing!
Cons: Alex and the front desk

Pros: The hotel location was convenient, relatively quiet and it was easy to come and go throughout our stay. The room was very clean, bathroom was nice. We had a fridge which was helpful and a balcony to dry out our clothes. The wifi worked very well.
Cons: La Fortuna seemed safe, but just a note that there wasn't always someone sitting at the front desk. No breakfast included and the staff was nice, but one of the staff members didn't have particular recommendations beyond basic tourist stuff in town

Pros: The utmost kind and professional staff took care of all our needs involving Costa Rica, inc. transportation as well as accommodations elsewhere in Costa Rica. we will definitely come back, hopefully soon.
Cons: The low standard room/maintenance. I'd expect good-as-new, or at least renovated facility e.g. the shower, bed/mattress etc.; missing AC!
