Freshly cooked breakfast Smallness of room. Very cramped sitting area.TV ridiculous position. Why premium for four poster small bed?
great hotel, great location, good staff, fantastic room best hotel ive stayed in for years. no complaints at all.
The room, beds and facilities were all great. The location was sold as Bradford-upon-Avon, but the hotel is much closer to Trowbridge. We didn't realise this until well after we'd booked.
unexpectedly beautiful rooms and pleasant staff. A bit too cold for me, outside that is coz it's early winter.
Adequate parking very close to rooms. Comfortable. Good food. Helpful friendly staff. No.
Everything, from the friendly reception staff to the wonderful room. I can not fault a thing Nothing, cant wait to go back!
Very organised, very firendly , very quiet
The staff were very helpful and the room was clean and comfortable
the ambiance and attractive rooms and period featiures in the main building, service was good. the food was only average and furnishings to the room were not that comfortable
I liked the relaxed atmosphere, clean comfortable room, polite helpful staff, gorgeous food, nice gardens to walk around, everything really. n/a,it was even better than expected.
the staff were very helpful. The accomodation was good and breakfast was excellent the rugs were stained and for the money i would have a more up to date decor
It was very homelly Didnt really feel like staying in a hotel
Really- I mean really- helpful staff; very good food (especially main courses), thoughtful wine list, comfortable and large rooms, and the baby- listening phones for the restaurant are priceless. As it's advertised as a historic house, it's disappointing to see hinged plastic double glazing in lieu of original sliding sash windows, fake slate tiles, stripped pine doors which are inevitably splitting (they're designed to be painted!) and bedrooms dressed in an economical modern chintz of pastel colours, that reminds one of a retirement home. Sounds like I'm being fussy, but old buildings lose their soul when they're interfered with too much and to me the quality of historic environment is an important part of a stay in a country house.
food was good but spoilt by mean portions i.e. one piece of very thinly sliced bread with the starter, similarly the cooked breakfast was unusually small. The service was good considering the very young table staff. Slightly pretentious as a number of small English hotels tend to be and the decor is somewhat confused i.e. Georgian house with plastic windows.
Lovely pool. Staff have a very friendly "can do" approach. Lovely gardens and places to relax. Expensive stay but was worth it.
Attention to detail and considerate service. The meals and furnishings are of a high standard.
Friendly without being over familiar
We stayed in the little cottages just outside the main building which was a great surpise as it didn't feel like you were staying in a hotel. We decided to stay one more night but had to change rooms which wasn't a problem. However the bed in the new room (room 8) was very uncomfortable compared to the bed in our original room (20).
The pool and the breakfast
Nicely decorated room, comfy bed, excellent shower, fantastic breakfast included, liked having the pub with comfortable seating areas downstairs (jazz night was great!) We were on the main street side and there is quite a bit of traffic noise from that, but given our time schedules it did not detract from our stay.
The staff were very friendly and welcomimg. Breakast and dinner were very good. Very quiet - no road noise. Extremely comfortable bed. Very clean. A very good location to explore Bradford on Avon. No bad points.
Overall quality of room, service and restaurant food. Excellent value for money.
The tasteful surroundings and the calm atmosphere Parking is a little restricted.
Excellent staff attitude, hotel very clean, good decor, food excellent and well priced Very hard to get attention from Reception especially at busy times, staff were doing other projects. Parking a minimum, we had to pay to park at local car park, maybe guests could be offered a parking pass for nearby public car parks?
Excellent service and food, beautiful room. Great hotel in a wonderful location. Parking an issue. One night we were last car in a very small car park. Not sure where you'd park if you can't park at the back!
Very friendly & welcoming staff
Friendly staff central position Fan in bathroom didnt work so lots of condensation, draughty room prob due to extreme weather conditions and old building.
Excellent staff and food Bathroom had some flaking paint
Food was outstanding, rooms comfortable and staff very helpful Feather duvets and pillows - should be synthetic as i have an allergy to feathers - however staff quickly rectified this.
Water coming through ceiling in bedroom deserved a discount
We loved the modern decor and relaxing surroundings. The dining experience was amazing and the food was gorgeous! Extremely good value for money.
The staff were very welcoming, the hotel was nice and quiet. We also had dinner at the hotel which was lovely as well as breakfast every morning. The pillows are uncomfortable
Extremely pleasant staff. Excellent food. Beautiful location.
The staff were exceptional in terms of their helpfulness, friendliness and general attitude. My wife summed up the hotel during dinner as "Formal enough to make you feel slightly uncomfortable but the staff are so pleasant so as to make it a charming experience". I really enjoyed the size and occupancy of the hotel. Even though it was full, it didn't feel crowded. The food was superb - I fully recommend having your evening meal in the hotel. Also, the proximity of the hotel to the charming little town of Melksham meant that it was easy and convenient to pop out and get the little bits of shopping if needed, although it felt like you were in the middle of the Wiltshire countryside. The room was a little basic - no clock or radio and the decoration a little tired.
Extremely relaxing, beautifully kept grounds, very helpful and friendly staff
friendly + helpful staff bathroom without shower
Clean, comfortable hotel,in generous well kept grounds. Ideal for visiting hidden gems in the wiltshire countryside.Spa facilities sounded good although i did not try them. Hotel was undergoing some work.
The hotel building and surrounds were absolutely lovely! When you think of a manor in the English countryside, this would be it!! The room contained everything we needed and the breakfast was very nice. It was a very warm day when we visited and because of the design of the building, it stayed quite warm through the night. The hotel did try to make us comfortable by providing a fan which was appreciated.
i liked the convenient location that the hotel had for all the places that we intended to visit. However I believe the hotel is more suited to families with young children the hotel staff/family seemed a little disorganised and seemed to rely too much on the lady of the hotel.
The converted dairy provided comfortable and quiet accommodation with plenty of towels and toiletries in in fact the 'goodies seemed so plentyful I was surprised that there was not a shoe cleaning kit. The continental breakfast was very good, I only wish that I could have faced up to having a full english which I imagine would have been equally as good.
Was greeted in a friendly manner. The room was fantastic, not only very pretty, practical and well laid out but very clean and very tidy. The hotal was in beautiful surroundings with an air of tranqility and it really was a relaxing stay. The facilities were great and there was a games room there suitable for bot children and adults. Great place!!
good breakfast buffet, cooked breakfast option, fruit in the room, extra pillows and blankets and Pauline was very friendly not keen on the toiletries, tiny mirror, and I found the bed quite hard. The guinea fowl screeching at the crack of dawn from the roof of my bahroom, I did get used to after a couple of days.
Peaceful, rural location and setting; conversion of outbuildings into individual bedroom units with ensuite were very well converted; fresh fruit and selection of hot drinks in room; comfortable and pleasantly decorated bedrooms; an easy 20 minute walk to Bradford Upon Avon village itself. Only complaint was the shower was a dribble, but there was plenty of hot water and a bath as an alternative.
friendly welcome peaceful
Quiet rural location - wildlife & hens a plenty! Expensive for what it is, and I've had better breakfasts!
Very comfortable and easy access to village and Bath.
Friendliness of the boss, the desire to make you feel welcome...
Meeting the chickens on the way to my room! The tv did not tune in & uht milk at a farmstay was poor
The house was absolutely beautiful, the room I stayed in was luxurious with lots of unexpected extras like electrically adjustable beds and large screen TV. The bathroom was out of this world! The proprietors couldn't have been more helpful and friendly.
Paul and Lorraine are superb hosts and the property is very well furnished with no expense spared. Excellent breakfast. Nothing.
Excellent through out stay. None.
Gorgeous room with double jacuzzi. Very friendly people. Very accessible to Bath. Lovely views across fields. Good English breakfast. Would visit again.
Friendly staff, excellent food [but portions rather large!].Convenient location, but quiet and peaceful. Building a little "tired" looking. Beds hard.
The beautiful room no.45 and the food
The staff were not helpfull and the fact is even after booking a double room ended up with a two single beds and they were not happy to help or to change, so for us we will not be using this hotel ever again......and for those who are going to just be careful when you booking and may be good idea to ask specifically otherwise your holiday will just be spoilt as mine.
I thought the complimentary breakfast was very good. The scenery from the restaurant was beautiful. The beds were very comfortable, and I definitely felt at home in this hotel. The internet was not working on the last night and day of our stay, so that was unfortunate. We told the staff, but they basically said they couldn't do anything about it. It was quite pricey, but that is expected for the area around Bath.
Had a lovely big shower in the en suite bathroom, and the bed was nice and big too and also comfy. The view from hotel was lovely as well. It is very expensive for an overnight stay. I had emailed a note with the on line booking i did but never received a reply, because we were told as we were staying overnight to attend my friends daughters wedding we would get a discount but we never did! Also the breakfast - would of been nice to of had waiter service, and there was no baked beans, fried bread/egg.
The tranquility and non-disturbance from other guests or staff.
Good Room. The fact that I was upgraded.
we had a warm welcome excellent food and although there was a wedding on did not hear any noise. we found breakfast a bit over done and coffee not that hot
Rural setting, old building (this is a plus for me), my room No
Room was clean and comfortable, breakfast good. Shabby decor and worn carpets, reception staff appeared uninterested.
