Pros: The owners were very nice and helped us contacting our scheduled ride to the airport (arranged with the safari company) that was late to come. Dinner was included, and as with the breakfast was very good. The garden is very pleasant.
Cons: The road to the place is really horrible, worse than the roads during the safari. We thought being closer to the airport would save us time, but it didn't save as much as expected compared to being in Arusha as it takes 10-15min to ride the 1km from the main road. Arriving after dark we didn't believe there is really a hostel at the end until we saw the place.
Pros: The staff were a great help when we were trying to locate the property and met us on the road to guide us there. No address was provided in the booking, you see!
Cons: Access road to property was diabolical but this is not their responsibility but that of the local authority
Pros: The setting of Shamba Hostel is really impressive. A classic building in a green garden with several different trees, birds and even bushbabies. There were nice places to sit outside in the sun or shade. Staff is absolutely fantastic. Although we had to leave at 3:30 in the night, there was still breakfast for us, with fresh fruit, boiled eggs and toast. Rooms were impeccably clean, good beds and had plenty of hot water in the shower. Much closer to Kilimanjaro Airport than Arusha. Perfect place to stay.
Cons: The only drawback is the rocky road, but it is only a few kilometers, quiet and not dangerous in any way (except perhaps for your tires).
Pros: The owners are really nice. The dinner and breakfast amazing. The place is so clean, hot shower. Is close from and to airport. They have also transport to airport for a good price.
Pros: Nice and quiet area, close to the airport
Cons: Public transport not close
Pros: Beautiful place, full of open areas with banana trees and lots of vegetation. The staff is very nice and helpful and the rooms are very clean. The breakfast and dinner are included in the price of the rooms, with delicious food. The surroundings of the Shamba are great for a sunset walk and see the kilimanjaro mountain raising up over the horizon.
Cons: Everything was perfect!
Pros: Everything! We loved it! You're between Airport and Arusha. You can go around and walk at Usa or go to Arusha. The location is great! They have a lot of space around with some bananatrees or little lodges where you can sit and relax. It's like paradise :) Mtimama is a great guy and very welcoming. Beatrice was very kind and took good care of our meals, soooo goood! The mini-buffets were amazing. Both Mtimama and Beatrice were so nice and considerate and caring of our wellbeing :) We had very interesting talks and could get to know a bit more about their cultures, which we enjoyed. The staff is really nice and they would do everything for a good customer. Like night-bushbaby-safarii or owl-birdwatching
Cons: If there is anything to complain (because there is ABSOLUTLY nothing wrong with the hostel) the beds were a bit to hard for what we are used to.
Pros: Shamba Hostel hosts are amazing! We arrived pretty late and they welcomed us with delicious dinner. They were very helpful and welcoming! The place is very clean and in a quiet area. The food is amazing! It’s also relatively close to Kilimanjaro Airport on the way to Arusha. We stayed there only for one night so didn’t manage to explore the local area but it seemed to be a nice quiet village.
Pros: Fantastic breakfast and dinner. Very nice people. Quiet and big garden.

Pros: This hotel was perfect for our stay. We had a day to kill between activities and just used it as a chill out zone. They had a lovely pool and nice lunch and dinner facilities. The rooms were lovely too with nice paths to walk along
Cons: Nothing major but when we were checking out they asked us to pay for the room. I had already paid in full when I booked with booking.com. Luckily I had proof as i’d printed off the email from booking.com, if I hadn’t not sure what would have happened...
Pros: The bungalows were very spacious, pretty and clean. The property is beatifully located and well maintained. Staff is very friendly and make sure you are enjoying your stay. The girl from the reception even helped us arrange a 6 day safari and made sure we got a great deal!
Cons: Food and drinks were quite expensive (though the food was tasty).
Pros: Nice secluded location but not far from the city. Food, coffee, view were great. Staff very friendly, especially Frances.
Pros: Really nice place. It’s located a bit outside the town. But If you are looking for a quite spot surrounded by a lot of green with a beautiful view, it’s is perfect. The staff is also really friendly and helps you planing your trip or transfer.
Cons: It would be nice to have more fresh fruits for breakfast and local food on the dinner menu. But this is just the cherry on the top.
Pros: Very nice and spacious rooms Excellent breakfast Very good dinner Swimming pool with good views Good for relaxing

Pros: An oasis in Arusha! I especially loved the resident Vervet monkeys! The accommodations were beautiful and the food was outstanding.
Pros: Beautiful gardens
Cons: A little under stated for what we paid, great for an "authentic" African safari experience I guess.
Pros: We did not have enough time at this hotel as we arrived late at night and left early in the morning for our safari. What I saw that morning was lovely and I wish I could have had a little more time to explore the hotel grounds. The room was good, not excellent; but I thought it was appropriate for the price.
Pros: Good breakfast. We ate most evenings in the dining room and the food was very good, although the wine was a bit pricey. The clientele is dominated by those at the beginning or end of a safari - guests seem to change every day.
Cons: The hotel is completely overstaffed and the service can be a bit oppressive. The bedrooms have anti-mosquito nets but don't be fooled - there are everywhere so make sure to bring your sprays and ideally a plug-in unit for the bedroom.
Cons: Food.....I didn’t find a buffet just like other Serena Hotels
Pros: Amazing property, calm, removed from Arusha city centre noise and hassle; beautiful views; night ambience is incredible with all the sounds from the lake; staff super friendly and helpful. Amazing stay overall!

Pros: Rita and ruth were wonderful as were the whole staff
Pros: Good breakfast and restaurant food was good apart from having to wait a long time to get it one night we ate there. Good location for where we needed to be.
Cons: Leak in the bedroom ceiling after one night of torrential rain.
Pros: A great few days stay in Green Hills. Staff were all very friendly and helped wherever they could. Dinner was made pleasant by being watched over by local monkeys. Rooms a good size and very clean and tidy. Would recommend.
Cons: Make sure you ask the receptionist to order any taxi as other staff may not have the same contacts and therefore may not get same rates. Waiting time for food can sometimes take a long time.

Pros: The out of town location the wonderful Staff nothing was too much trouble the grounds are lovely the pool is good the food was the best we had on our entire journey of three weeks
Cons: The lighting within the rooms but realise we are in Africa not England so allowances need to be made
Pros: Great place and lovely staff. The locally produced coffee and the fresh pressed juice were great. Would recommend!
Pros: Safari guide Mr Suma. Really fantastic job during all the Safari. The camp inside ngorongoro park. Surely good organization and the staff
Cons: Despite the Safari guide was very professional and caring and the camp was very good, the organization of Vijiji was not accurate. To access to ngorongoro park we had to wait 5 hours outside the main gate waiting for Vijiji paid the camp even tough we paid everything. No apologies at all from the organizer of the Safari Vijiji
Pros: I am normally not someone to write reviews (bad or good) but I really want to give a huge shout out to the accommodation. We only stayed here for one night and we are sad we had to go, when we arrived we were welcomed with a fresh juice. Since we arrived really late (10:30 pm) we were afraid that we couldn’t have dinner but they still made us a great dinner. The curry was one of the best I’ve had in a long while and the staff was amazing. The rooms are cute and clean, I really have no complaints at all and would highly recommend staying here. The original check out time was 10 but we were allowed to stay in the room until 1. I didn’t know the price of the airport transfer and named an amount that was way higher than was needed, the staff could have gone for that and I would have never known but they didn’t and told us that the price was way lower. I feel like that is excellent service.
Cons: The internet was down, but that wasn’t a huge issue since you are not on a holiday to internet all day long...
Pros: A lovely oasis surrounded by village life. Away from the bustle of Arusha township. Staff were helpful in everyway. Resturant staff delightful and food authentic. A lovely welcome to Africa. Thankyou.
Pros: Excellent food. Kitchen staff really nice.
Cons: Reception is abit off. Work in PR.
Cons: Lots of noises nearby all of the day people are praying with very very highly sound from into their speakers, was very very terrible we didn't have a daytime rest
Pros: The staff were Fantastic... So helpful and friendly, comfy room, nice pool and nice bustle in the Vijiji village outside.
Cons: Would have liked to have a more comfortable area in the restaurant to have a few drinks in the evening. It wasn't the kind of place to chill after dinner.
Pros: Staff were nice and the grounds were lovely.
Cons: Swimming pool wasn't very clean and it seemed overpriced compared to the other places we stayed in Arusha.
