Ideal location in the heart of Voltarra. Very friendly and helpful staff. On site parking. Provided an early breakfast for us due to an early departure.
staff were very hospitable, keen to help and spoke good English
Friendly and helpfull staff made this a lovely resting spot. The pool was a great plus, offering a welcome and refreshing escape. Situated at the entrance to the town, this hotel is within easy access to historical places, shops and restaurants. Equally it is easy to escape to the beautiful countryside outside the town.
Location was excellent and hotel quite clean, staff friendly enough. Breakfast was poor, not a great variety or very presentable.
Location Location Location. Inside the city wall with a car park, you can't beat it.
Good location for exploring the town, rooms good size and very clean and confortable. We had to move rooms as first one was on the road and very very noisy. Staff were helpful and moved us, but shows they are aware of the problem and haven't done anything about it (invest in some double glazing!)
Everything! This is a lovely hotel, it is a real pleasure to stay here. Very professional staff, comfortable rooms, extensive buffet breakfast, great location.
Clean and good breakfast and Volterra town. The parking was been repaired...but they offered free alternatives
It was very close to all that we wanted to see in Volterra and near to other places of interest in the area. Very good breakfast. Very small room for three days. Garage expensive. English speaking television would have been excellent.
The location and setting are wonderful
All staff were very helpful and very friendly and they made our stay a pleasant experience. The location of the hotel is also convenient and central to a very interesting area of Tuscany.
I liked the lobby and location. And the view over the valley is great if you are lucky to get good room. Unfortunately we were given room just above hotel entrance and main parking. Free parking for sure is a plus and access to free wifi in the lobby. I did not like the behaviour when we said we would like to change the room. We were told it is possible with 20 euro more. Does it mean that when you book online you are second category guest?
The staff, layout, view and scenery were excellent. A romantic atmosphere and friendly staff made our stay very memorable. Certain menu items were not to our liking
swimming pool, breakfast, views. Not set up for transfers, provided little information about the surrounding area.
Staff were excellent - extremely helpful. The location was lovely. We enjoyed our stay so much that we went back for another night a week later and would recommend the hotel to anyone. No
The pool is the best feature of the hotel, good size, very clean and pleasant. Breakfast - good variety and quality of food. Internet access is provided free of charge. Staff helpful and friendly. Rooms cleaned to good standard. Rooms and bathrooms quite basic and could be more stylish & comfortable for 4 star. Misunderstood from web site that rooms had terrace. Bar very expensive. 7eur for 2 cups tea. eur6 for tiny toasted sandwich. Room safe is tiny and very difficult to access. No bedside drawers, just shelf-type thing.
Hotel is open 24h, is easily accessible, has many ammenties such as a wonderful pool and stunning views. No internet in rooms, only in public areas (i.e. lobby)
friendliness of the staff showercabin corners look not clean. in the room, windows in the room could nt be fixed when open. wellness aerea not clean. we missed tomatoes, olives and vegetables at breakfast were missed
Localization, staff, equipment, design
Nice hotel, good views when you got them! Only about 4 rooms at this hotel have no view and we were given one and had to pay an extra 20 euros to move to a room with a view, the hotel was advertised as having a view so we did not expect to have to pay extra for one, really felt ripped off by this and wonder if it a regularly used ploy.
Ideal location, great price, a nice breakfast was included, friendly staff who spoke English Bed was not very comfortable
Very friendly and helpful staff. Super location in a medieval street near the central piazza. Lovely rooftop garden. Nice selection of freshly made items for breakfast. Bathroom was quite basic. Our room overlooked the street, so there was some noise in the evening (just voices, no traffic) - actually not too bad and worth it to be on such a lively, interesting street.
The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. We had to leave early to catch a bus, and they had breakfast set out early for us in the morning. They also were helpful about where to go see things, and where to eat. There is no lift here, but when we arrived, the woman at the front desk showed us our room, even helping with our luggage!
Very nice rooftop garden with splendid views and an old historic building. Very central location. No
The staff is very kind and helpfull (babycod was already setup). The room was big (not noisy although at the side of the street) and the breakfast is good with real coffee Bathroom; the shower is to small with almost no water (no pressure? and ooold shower) and only for little people. If you turn on the light there's a lot of noise, waking up the rest of the family. And the hotels has a garden according to there descriptions but we couldn't find one (the breakfast is nto there, no signs etc)
It was a great location for access to food, shopping and the town square. Paid parking was not far away and the staff was extremely friendly and spoke English. The bathroom, mainly the shower, was incredibly small and uncomfortable. Also the hotel advertised that there is free internet in all rooms, but the WiFi is not accessible on the third floor (where we were located) so we had to get a card and sit in the public area to use the internet. We stayed at this hotel because of this feature and were very disappointed about this.
Nice staff, great room, great bathroom, comfortable bed, clean, great location.
Cleanliness, peace and tranquility, locality. Everything about this hotel was great! We have already recommended it to an Australian couple we have met up with since our stay.
Excellent location (close to the parking and a few steps from the city main square). When we entered the room there was a horrible smell of cigarettes... when we informed the staff the answer was that it is a private business of clients whether they want to smoke in the room. At this point it would be useful to have rooms for smokers and non/smokers, in the end the hotel pretends to be a 4 star hotel. The price is too high for the standard - it is definitely not a 4 star hotel (at max. 3 star).
The staff was wonderful. They could not have been more pleasant or helpful. The room was well appointed and comfortable and the breakfasts were all that was expected and more.
Room was very comfortable and excellent bathroom. Awesome locations in an amazing small Tuscany hilltop town. Breakfast poor - the white buns got harder every day we were there. We had much better breakfast in Venice and Verona for comparable prices.
Location within the city walls was very good. Nice array of restaurants in close vicinity.
Great hotel! Location is perfect! Room was great, it was a nice size and very clean. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included with our room and it was very nice - everything you need to start the day. I will definitely stay here again the next time I visit Volterra.
Lovely, traditional hotel in a beautiful spot on a historic street. Parking is not close, but this is the only negative. Helpful and friendly staff, new bathroom, free soft drink in the fridge, good breakfast.
close to center *& close to parking
The local independence day festival was on from 10pm -3am and the cleaning crews were in action from then on. Local knowledge could have warned me there was no hope of any sleep
The streets and views from the city In room 304, the air conditioning did not cool the room sufficiently, even when turned up to full. We had to open the windows which allowed a lot of noise in from the street below, so did not sleep too well.
The countryside was beautiful, the hotel very rustic and charming and the facilities relaxing and wonderful. we loved the pool the staff were hard to track down when we arrived. There is nothing to say 'welcome' or 'entrance' and we had to wander around to find the main doorway and reception which is frustrating after a long drive. When we wanted to check out we waited ages for someone to attend to us, even after ringing the bell. It was really frustrating to have to wait ages for coffee at breakfast as the machine was behind the bar. it would be easy and alot more convenient to have a self service urn at the breakfast buffet.
I loved it. Would totally recommend it to everyone. The view is amazing and the staff, Guilia is wonderful. Don't use a GPS to get there, call for directions.
Exceptional location, in the middle of the Toscana hills. Very charming house. Toscana typical food was really good. Just a bit hard to find (especially during the night) :)
Fabulous location - views are out of this world. Room very charming and bathroom a good size. Staff are very friendly. Dinner service was chaotic! Didn't receive all the dishes, had to chase up dessert, never got the salad. Part of the charm maybe but not everybody would find it so.
very friendly stuff, great view
perfekt view, Pool, nice dinner, good kitchen, room clean and ok garden is very poor, nobody cares for the poolarea..dead flowers....
great location! we could walk into volterra. quiet and it was easy to find. the signs were helpful
nice and welcomming staff, nice big rooms, good beds. The breakfast was very good. We had a nice dinner at the hotel. Lots of parking space.
- very big rooms! - everything is very clean. - very close to the centre of Volterra, you don't need a car. - It was a hospital (revalidation centre) and we didn't know that. - The breakfast was poor.
Friendliness and accommodating nature of the staff. Room was large, very clean and comfortable. No. However, I would say that I did not find it easy to catch sight of the hotel sign on the road. I had already passed it and gone out of Volterra and only noticed a sign on coming back. Generally better sign posting would help.
I liked the friendly staff and all the help I received from them during my stay I loved it all
The location is beautiful. The hotel did not have an air condition, so during our stay in July the room was very hot in the night .
Huge rooms You must have a car to make staying here appropriate. Too far to walk into the beautiful town
We really liked Hotel Foresteria. Hotel staff were excellent - friendly and helpful. The hotel's restaurant was a gem - great dinner at a very reasonable price. Rooms were not fancy, but they were clean and spacious, and the bed was very comfortable.
Large airy bedrooms
This is our 2nd visit to this hotel. Great staff, wonderful breakfast and good dining room.
Proximity to the city and breakfast was great. Kids loved the bunk beds and staff was friendly and helpful. Beds are Italian so they are hard as a rock, but it is Italy.
Very clean, efficient, and good locations. No particular dislikes
location and convenience
There were not enough food in the mornings. We could eat until 10 o clock but they didn't bring more bread and so.
Great location, good size room and en-suite. Clean & comfortable Wifi didn't work
Central location in Volterra Breakfast is served on a first come first served basis, so if they run out of something bad luck.
bath towels policy
the location was excellent lack of tea/ coffee facilities in room , lack of ironing facilities
Wonderful window view. Silence. Nice breakfast. Old but modern. It was cold in the room. No airconditioner.
Everything - perfect location, good rooms, beautifull hotel, nice beakfast, good service, nice people
It was a good hotel, excellent location in the town, close to parking with clean rooms and good value for money.
That is was close to the Volterra parking garage. The desk staff were attentive. The coffee from the machine offered at the included breakfast was atrocious.
The staff was so friendly and I loved the slippers in our room - we used them for the rest of our trip in Italy. The fact that the restaurant was closed.
lovely staff, very friendly!!! we had diner in the restaurant and it was very good! there was also a beautiful garden!
I was impressed by the welome and service . The evening meal was all local produce picked that day and was washed down with the local Chianti . Breakfast was a buffet home made bread ,cakes and lots more .
This is a simple and pleasant small hotel not far from Volterra. The person who who helped at reception was very nice and spoke good English. The room was large but had no view nor a frigobar. Breakfast was very nice and for the most part the location provided some quietness although the hotel is situated on a fairly busy highway. If you want to avoid the traffic and parking issues in Volterra this would be a good choice. No in room fridge. The hotel is a bit remote.
It was clean, ende the food was excellent
The hotel was clean, quiet and the staff very helpful. Great breakfast. The hotel is not in the historic center and there is an uphill walk every morning (which I quite liked).
under our room was coffee bar, start noice at 5 o clock morning! expensive
Buffet breakfast Peeling wallpaper
The room was nice and the breakfasts were great. The owners offer an optional dinner that we did twice...they were wonderful! Location wasn't what we expected (on a busy street) and the walk to town was all uphill. Woud still have stayed there.
Free parking and internet wi fi (although could not access simultaneously on laptop whilst I Pad logged on).Excellent continental breakfast. Location is easily found on main road about 300 yards from old town gate- walk is uphill and there is no point in driving to one of the car parks which surround the walled town as the walk/climb is similar. Volterra itself is a fabulous, beautifully restored and kept old walled city-narrow strees and largely pedestrian only. It should be on the list for anyone visiting Tuscany( market is on a Saturday). There are hotels within the city walls but cars must be parked outside and they are more expensive. The hotel is a typical Italian small family run operation , the rooms- comfortable, but a little basic and small for most North American tastes- are very clean and for a short stay very adequate. This is not a negative opinion and non Europeans will need to adjust their pre conceptions of what a small hotel offers.
The rooms are big. The breakfast is nice. The staff is helpful and they speak english. If you room is looking on the main street it could be a bit noisy. The airconditioning was useless.
Quiet rooms, very good breakfast, ideal location to visit the city of Volterra, swimming pool
Great location and view. Nice to have a pool. Not very nice room, though others looked better. Hotel a bit basic and municipal. Don't like paying for pool towels.
The staff were courteous and friendly. Parking is a bit tight. We rented a car and drove from Firenze to Volterra. Parking and unloading the car is a bit of a hassle due to limited space.
close to town centre, availability of swimming pool
Family run hotel, welcoming and friendly. Our room was basic, but spotlessly clean, linen changed daily. Would have liked a plug socket near mirror for drying hair.
Really calm, a pleasant stay and so restful. Perfect for visiting the Chianti.
Incredible place, an absolute highlight of our 2-week trip throughout Italy. Unique atmosphere (the hostel is situated in a former monastery, with rooms around a beautiful cloister and wonderful frescoes in the breakfast room) - very tranquil and peaceful. Very friendly staff (speaking good English) makes guests feel like at home. Great breakfast menu, excellent parking, clean and tidy rooms. Walking distance (some 15 minutes) from the historical centre of Volterra. Perfect choice for those who prefer atmosphere and tranquility to luxuries and lively nightlife.
We liked the hotel - its basic but clean and only a short walk to centre of Volterra but you do have to climb a lot of steps . As we stayed in the middle of August the lack of air conditioning in the rooms was a drawback.
clean, good value for money. shared bathroom is only between 2 rooms and actually you share only the shower. basic breakfast
Clean room, nice countryside surroundings, quiet location. Difficult to find, middling to average breakfast, and a drunk resident in the building who made a good night's sleep impossible.
The room was spacious and nice. The breakfast room is lovely with old frescoes. The hostel is very tranquil with the beautiful courtyard and is within a walking distance to the old city center. It is a hostel not a hotel as advertised. It is near the busy narrow road. I booked a room with bathroom but got the room with shared bathroom and had to pay the same price.
The hotel is very serene, recently redecorated with clean lines and comfort in mind. You can have a full breakfast in the cloister with pastries, meats, cheeses, cereal, and choice of coffee. Our room shared a bath, but that, too, was well designed so that our room and one shared a bathroom with an entrance from the room right into the bathroom. I was pleasantly surprised. It's a little out of the way if you're walking and the bus runs infrequently but it is walkable to town. The main problem is the lack of sidewalk more than the distance. Unless you're right in the middle of town, this is as good an option as any.
Great exterior, with a ringing bell tower, frescos in the breakfast room. The breakfast was quite poor (and cold!). The room's interior was not cozy nor comfortable at all, especially when it was cold outside.
The hotel/hostel is in a beautifully renovated monastery. Bus connections are good. 20 min. walk to center of Volterra.
I really like the beatiful hotel and the quick access to the town of Volterra. The friendliness of the staff and the breakfast.
