Pros: Lakelands is an idyllic place, with a view over hay fields to a lake, 10 minutes outside of Waterville. On top of everything else, the proprietress, a long-time local resident, helped us locate members of our daughter-in-law's extended family. We only could show her a sketchy note of hand-me-down memories, and to our delight she knew the location and relatives still living there. We ended up meeting relatives and visiting the ancestral home neighborhood. Breakfasts at Lakelands were wonderful.

Pros: The property is great. In the country with great views of Currane Lough. It is very quiet. Less than 10 minutes to Waterville that had very good restaurants. Including fishing on the lough and boat rides to the lough’s island.
Cons: It rained!

Pros: Rooms are standard, nothing special, but ok. We had tea and a kettle but no cups. Lack of attention to detail.
Cons: After staying two days in the BnB we checked out and went out to get cash to pay for our stay. After handing over the money we politely asked to use a bathroom as we had a 5 hour journey ahead of us. The host declined saying we could drive to a pub down the road! Pros: A truly beautiful house and room. Well above the usual rooms in that price range, very tastefully furnished throughout. The hosts are very friendly and we had a fantastic breakfast , pancakes with fresh fruit, could not find anything amiss. There is only a short walk into the centre of the town along the Ring of Kerry road or along the coast road. Only gets very busy in town when quite a few coaches descend on the beach car park and hundreds of tourists are trying to have a pub lunch, but we were always there before them! Lovely pubs, good choice for food, even got vegetarian dishes in the "Lobster" and they were great both nights. Also live music at a few venues, worth checking out.
Cons: We came to see the stars at the Dark Sky Reserve, but had cloudy skies both nights!

Pros: Lovely Town with good restaurants. The hotel was in a great location overlooking the water. Bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was so fresh. We missed breakfast as we had to leave at 7 30 and breakfast was not served until 8 30. Somewhat expensive but this was presumably due to the bank holiday weekend.
Cons: The 8 30 start to breakfast, I would have liked if it started earlier.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The location is absolutely perfect with a stunning view across the bay. The setting was utterly peaceful and we booked a room with what was effectively a conservatory that had the most beautiful panoramic views. We also ate in the restaurant, which was delicious and no more expensive than other decent restaurants along the coast.
Cons: Everything was lovely, although we did request late check-out at dinner. We were told it was absolutely fine to leave 1 or 2 hours later, but were then hassled out of the room. Such a shame as the rest of the experience was wonderful.

The good freshly made breaki gives you a perfect start into the day and the comfi bed and quiete location as a bit of street give you the rest you need at the end of the day. The Staigue Fort House Café is open during the day and has as well a Staigue Fort Exhibition Area with information about the fort nearby. The best is the bar on side, after a long day of discovering the area it is great to just come back "home" have a drink and chitchat with the locals also frequent the place for the afternoon pint. And sometimes you have the real Irish vibe when people just get together and make some music spontaneously
Cons: The Staigue Fort House is more then 100 years old so you should not expect a new build, if you looking for a 5* Hotel this is not the place for you. But if you look for a place with history, charm and character this is the place to go. For me everything worked fine and I don't have a problem with a shared bathroom and there are a few bathroom so you hardly will have a problem with this.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Beautiful location, really quiet. Irish breakfast is great. Bacon was really delicious!
Cons: This is a historic building and therefore a very old hotel. It has two shared bathrooms among 10 rooms. There were two rooms booked during our stay so that worked out well. The hotel could do with a cleaning of the ceilings every month. WiFi was really poor; hardly got to the first floor, only above the bar.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The accommodation is great, a hidden gem and the owners are such nice people. Shelia is lovely, makes a great breakfast and very accommodating. The shared bathroom is as good as an en-suite and the beds very comfortable. I really enjoyed my stay here and met some great people. It is very close to Sneem and Staigue Fort which is an amazing national monument to visit. I would recommend this accommodation to everyone and will certainly be back when passing again. Thanks for everything

Pros: The breakfast and the hosts were exceptional! We were the only guests and they treated us like family. We arrived late and they left the door open for us. The pancakes were amazing and I'd love to have the recipe! I woke up to hearing Dominick playing the guitar and singing a little tune and immediately put a smile on my face. They gave us great touring advice and were super personable and entertaining. I'll be back again!

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Charming property, easy to find with a nice blend of “remote & quiet” and within minutes of where we wanted to be. We primarily interacted with Dominick (host) who was friendly & very helpful. We would love to stay here again & wish we could have spent more time at this location. We left early the next morning for a landing tour of Skellig Michael. Dominick gave us wonderful directions (about 20 min. drive) and he woke up early to provide a quick breakfast of hot tea/coffee, toast & butter/jam, cereal & fruit. Our 3 teenage daughters are STILL talking about Dominick’s magic tricks, riddles & stories! THANK YOU for your wonderful Irish hospitality!
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Extremely friendly and helpful hosts.

Cons: Nothing really compared to the positive
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We only stayed one night but wished we could have stayed longer. Lillian gave us the warmest welcome, making us feel at home instantly. The room was cozy and clean (and bigger than expected because Lillian upgraded us :)), the breakfast cooked to our demand and animated with Dominick’s witty humor and magic tricks. The Old School doesn’t lack charm and is perfectly situated on the Skellig Ring. We loved this place and would recommend it to anyone!

2.0 Mediocre

6.6 Good
Pros: It was close to where we needed to be. It was very classic on the inside and clean - the bed linens were beautiful!! It is within walking distance of stores and restaurants - the town is lovely.
Cons: The rooms are not terribly sound-proof and could use some work (to be expected - it is an older house). We found the owner to be friendly and helpful, but at times a little too in your face and wanting to be helpful. Some people might like that but we are a little more private.
4.0 Okay
Pros: staff courtesy and friendly.
Cons: my reservation was not "confirmed" at hotel, is not an hotel but a B&B, I was accommodated on a different room (respect the one that I have reserved), the bathroom in the "new" room was not ensuite (differently from my reservation)
5.2 Okay
Pros: There was a delicious breakfast and the staff was very friendly. The bathroom was quite big.
Cons: The rooms were a little bit small, so there was not much room for the suitcases.
6.8 Good
Pros: the friendlyness and the staff couldn't do enough for us
Cons: extension was not complete no covering on dining room floor and fitting not finished
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The b&b was lovely, as were the owners. Couldnt do enough for us and it was really close to the centre of Waterville. We ate 3 lovely meals each night in Waterville. All walking distance of the Old Cable House.
6.4 Good
Pros: The Landlady was ever so helpfull and couldn't do enough to make our stay pleasant
Cons: The drainage replacement outside the hotel was noisey at 7.30 in tghe morning but was through no fault of the hotel and will no doubt be finished by now
3.6 Mediocre
Pros:
Cons: The welcome to the b&b was somewhat unusual, the receptionist did not introduce himself, merely silently escorted me to a door which ultimately was the bedroom. When asked about activities in the area, he had no information to offer. The orange juice for breakfast seemed to be diluted concentrate from a tin
5.6 Okay
Pros: Bedroom was comfortable. Proprieter friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good - variety of menu plus something different to the norm e.g. smoked salmon and poached eggs, pancakes with fruit - delicious!
Cons: No television or tea/coffee making facilities in room. T&C was available on request free of charge
2.8 Mediocre
Pros: not a lot
Cons: we belived it to be a hotel it turned out to be a b&b
