Excellent new swimming pool restaurant prices
Lovely room with lake view, even though hotel was fully booked never felt crowded, plenty of space in lounges etc. Plus point was the car park - last time we stayed 40 years ago, no parking so was a nightmare finding somewhere to park! This time they even offered for us to leave the car still parked after we checked out so we could make a trip on the lake before we returned home. Just a shame we didnt have time to use the Spa & pool - last time the pool was actually outside! Just one comment - obviously not checked that the toiletries & milk were " topped up" when cleaning the room after previous occupants
the premises was clean and the beds were very comfortable, staff were rude/unpleasant to you in the presence of other guests without the slightest care , i find this embarrassing and unacceptable for a hotel of such status
All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful as well as very professional. Nothing was too much trouble and all seemed to enjoy their work. Very pleasant atmosphere in the hotel as a result. Difficult for us to make wi-fi connection with our iPad. Meant we had to go to Costa Coffee nearby for an awful coffee when we would have preferred to sit in lounge at hotel to use it.
the morning view over the lake - priceless
The location, the staff & the service were all briliant The bedroom was far too warm at night, despite turning the radiator off we had to have the window wide open and then there was much noise from ouside so we did not sleep very well.
The confort of the bedroom and the swimmingpool. The reception staff were very helpful. We had no problems.
view , location and room was lovely
The ambiance ,location and views
The aspect of the Hotel was breathtaking, all the staff were polite , helpful , presentable and a credit to the hotel. The food and restaurant service were excellent,as were the bedrooms and housekeeping .No. No.
The setting was very picturesque which complimented the excellent bar and terracing areas. The room was very clean. Ample car parking facilities. The breakfast service seemed much improved from a previous visit. The bath water was luke warm. A duvet would be much prefered to sheets.
Helpful and pleasant staff. Indecision on whether eating was to continue in the bar areas - and announced at short notice.
The location was excellent a couple of minutes from the steam boat jetty, and the building and rooms were spacious. The leisure centre was very good. The breakfast was completely substandard given the quality of the hotel. Limited choice, no fresh fruit despite being there at the hight of the summer and the cooked breakfast was very greasy (we were unable to eat it). Also, the room had few extras: e.g. we had to ask for tissues, there was nothing in the bathroom except for shampoo and shower gel. The Hotel obviously has a problem with staff turnover, since some were obviously inexperienced. Even though the rate was heavily discounted, we did not feel it represented good value for money. It is a shame, because with a little extra attention to detail and a decent breakfast the hotel could be really first class.
relaxing atmosphere lighting was dull and detracted from decor in public areas
The staff were excellent providing a friendly, helpful service The main reception/lounge areas were pretty cold - however it was -7 outside! Disappointed that the promised log fires were not available as this would have made a pre-Christmas break more festive somehow
Lovely room, situation, food good, but hotel very full due to coach parties
Our room was very big with a lovely view of lake district. Very close to the lake and boats and the shops/resturants.
Liked the easy relaxing setting of the hotel in general, the room was clean and the staff was very welcoming, perfectly located for Bowness. Would stay here again.
Being able to use the leisure facilities.
ideal location for Bowness centre and lake windermere, sports facilities excellent, staff very helpful. can't think of anything, in fact we would stay here again.
The views from the room were fantastic over windemere Our room could have done with a little re-decorating as the wallpaper was chipped in places and the fan made a loud noise when turned on in the bathroom until you gave it a "light" tap.
Location, Style Price
The ambience of the lounge and restaurant overlooking the lake was superb. The breakfast was very nice. I was very disappointed after staying in many other hotels not as expensive as the beech hill with the size and decor of the room.I paid for my friends a night away with us for a wedding present but really was not impressed with the room. £150 for bed and breakfast was extortionate.I expected really nice rooms with a luxurious feel. Unfortunately we didnt get this.I had read on reviews similar comments but i always like to give places a chance.
The communal areas of the hotel were very atractive, the staff were very helpful and the view of Windermere from the hotel were beautiful. The hotel looks very old fashioned from the road, I was wishing I had booked somewhere else after seeing it for the first time, however this changed once we got inside. The room we were in had extremely thin walls, we could here everything in the next room. I also hadn't realised how far away from the town the hotel was, and as the bus service is not great around the hotel area (a fact that is mentioned in the info pack in the hotel room) it meant taking the car out each day and paying a small fortune in the car parks.
the evening meal was excellent and excellent service our room had obviously previously been a smoking room. There was a strong smell of ciggarettes which let the room down badly. And the bathroom was far too small for the size of the bedroom.
Please write at least 15 words , big rooms, lovley location, helpfull staff. Poor TV no bbc1 during my stay missed my fav program, high standerds but I was very surpriesd to see wallpaper falling of the wall at room 54
The room was lovely with stunning views of the Cumbrian mountain range and lake Windemere. Hotel is well situated for walking. The pool area was very nice and it would be even better if in the colder months the floor to ceiling glass were wiped of condensation so that the views could be seen from the pool in the winter. A small touch that would make a big difference to guests.
We were well treated, the staff were helpful and approachable. A good quality hotel and we would stay there again.
food and other service none
Good and clean, and polite staff An option for dinner or takeout should be available, even if it is a sandwich bar
Very friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast excellent. Difficult to get into car park, tight parking, but at least there was one.
Pleasant staff, the furnishing were nice. The bed was really uncomfortable: I could feel every spring in the mattress. The establishment presents itself as a 4* (and charges correspondingly) so an even an average bed is a reasonable expectation. I think there may also have been mold growing on the bathroom ceiling where there had been some water damage that had never been properly fixed. Just not what I'd really expect for the money paid, even in a somewhat pricey district.
very nice hotel. and very good loction.
Comfortable lounge with games for children to play. Convenient location for walking, pubs and restaurants.
Excellent accomadation, pleasant staff and good food with reasonable bar prices.
staff were very good and it is in a good location.
service was excellent, very friendly staff. quality breakfast. it was a bit tricky getting in and out of the car park.
The breakfasts. We didn't like the size of the shower cubicle and temperature of the water.
Extremely friendly staff - nothing was too much trouble. Close to centre of town. Would have liked a bath rather than a shower.
the room was really nice. bed was really comfortable. power shower was excellent. at breakfast the service seemed very rushed and we did not feel relaxed during breakfast. continental breakfast was a croissant
Friendly people, lovely room, excellent stay, None
Room was clean and warm and all facilities were in good order. Breakfast was very hot and very tasty and Mr Morris seemed to make a very big effort to ensure everyone was served with the breakfast they wanted. Don't have any bad points really.
The ower made a very enuine attempt to make us welcome Parking was cramped but adequate
the room was beautiful as was the rest of the hotel, ideal location just minutes walk from everything. a really pleasurable stay!
The hotelier was very pleasant, the hotel was extremely comfortable and the cleanliness was to a high standard. The breakfast was very good and next time I stay in Bowness I would definitely stay there again.
lovely rm. Breakfast excellant, friendly people , excellant restuarants down the road. loved our anniverssary break , highly reccomend , Martin and Maria made our anniversary nice, even suprised us with a bigger room.Thankyou , would def stay again.
Excellent location, beautiful views!! Room slightly dated.
Very nice hotel, lovely and clean, the bed was very comfortable. Nice food and friendly service. Would go back again. No bad points
Clean, comfortable room. Friendly owner. Fairly good breakfast. Bathroom was quite small.
Food of a very high standard. Bed very clean and so comfortable. Staff very polite and helpful. What more could one ask for?
We loved the relaxed quiet atmosphere, idyllic location, helpful friendly staff who nothing was too much for and beautiful views. We did not like the a la carte menu and the fact that we had to order vegetables and potatoes seperately.
Very friendly staff, excellent facilities
We only stayed for the night but the stay was one of the best we have ever had ,and we do travel a great deal! The welcome we had from the staff was fantastic! NOTHING
Friendly and efficient staff, lovely setting and excellent food
We thought the meals were a bit rushed, more time between would have been nice, one plate removed before the other had finished, food was excellent. no real complaints, would have liked the sauna to be working.
An excellent hotel with very friendly staff and superb facilities. Can't think of anything
From the moment of arrival the staff were exceptional. A beautiful hotel.
The attitude of the staff-very accommodating, the hotel was generally to a very high standard, including the food, I could not praise it highly enough Nothing
location no resturant
The Staff gave excellent service and were polite and helpful. Also we particularly liked the lounge/bar area and the fact that it was available all day.
The staff were absolutely delightful and very helpful. Our room was compact but comfortable (we only went for the cheaper double room optional so perfectly acceptable for the money we spent)... The rain!
Close enought o walk to the Bowness and town centre. N/A
The staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was well designed and very clean. The noise insulation was not that good as you could more or less hear what people were doing next door.
Welcoming Staff & Excellent Breakfast
we found the woodland very comfortable and cosy on a cold wet october weekend, the staff were very helpfull and friendly. breakfast was above expectations. very nice weekend and we will be back.
Amy was lovely, she made our stay perfect, the hotel was amazing and exactly what we wanted we shall be returning. nothing
Staff and owners were very friendly / welcoming, rooms were nice and clean.
Helpfulness of everyone at the hotel and the friendly atmosphere.
Enjoyed the luxury of a large quiet warm room in this gracious turn of the century guest house.Perfect base for exploring the spectacular Lakes District with easy access to local walking trails yet close to tour office, shops, theatre and a fabulous seafood restaurant..
staff very helpful, good breakfast The put me up bed was very uncomfortable. Could have done with a bar area
Wonderful homey atmosphere and the owner was great and fun to talk to. Would have liked a little bigger room, but since this was a last minute reservation, it was more than satisfactory.
very helpfull, The weather was raing very heavy and we where offered a golfing umbrella, then some where to park a very wet buggy. None
the welcoming friendly staff, the superb english breakfast the comfortable rooms. there is nothing at all to dislike at this hotel.
family enviroment shower curtain very dirty
Very friendly and helpful proprietor. Good breakfast rooms clean and tidy.
We were there with our 22 month old toddler and thought that the family room was fantastic. Breakfast was also very good with lots of choice, we are looking forward to staying there again.
The owner and the staff. Also the breakfast. New owner, so some things obviously still work in progress - will be much better when completed. Would have preferred flexible shower head as fixed is difficult to use.
From the moment we arrived to our departure, nothing was to much trouble. Quiet location within easy distance of lake, shops and restaurants. Excellent facillities, friendly staff and superb breakfasts make this a place to visit again and again.
Small, quaint and great location for accessing all the Lake District has to offer The free internet needs upgrading, but other than that the hotel was excellent.
Generally all was good but far too overpriced for what was available The price
Quite and very relaxing hotel, The whole room was just perfect. Thank you to Pippa for making us very welcome, we will be returning.
The staff made us very welcome and the room was fantastic will be staying there again.
very nice decor comfortable furnishings and friendly staff, a bonus as the leisure passes for use at nearby hotel with leisure/spa facilities Room to front of hotel was noisy, traffic noise and from hotel guests coming in and out and chatting to staff on reception ! also no blinds/nets at the window which was at ground level on a main road, so very little privacy afforded in that particular room
The retreat N/A
the standard of service was excellent, pippa was very helpful and polite, the room was perfect, the area was lovely and the pub was only 100 yards away n/a
was a nice and friendly hotel, situated in a good place, excellent food and very peacefull to expensive for what is was
This is not a hotel but a bed and breakfast, the spa facilties are at hotel 15 minutes away, and that hotel is probably cheaper. The Howbreck is vastly overpriced.
The staff, the ease of access, to all the surrounding activities that are available shame the weather was not better but still a very enjoyable time
We liked the spa bath in the room and the fact that bathrobes were provided so that we could relax around the room. The way that dinner was arranged i.e. everyone met at 7pm for pre dinner drinks and canopes and there was only one sitting, so you were made to feel special and not rushed. All the staff were friendly and polite and it showed that they enjoyed working there.
Beautiful setting, excellent service and wonderful character of the hotel made for a great short break. En suite corner bath in the Coach House room (upper) a tad on the small size (for a fat bloke). TV unit was probably very expensive in its day but dated now and only able to receive very limited number of digital freeview channels. These minor observations didn't spoil our experience though and the room was fantastic
The hotel was in a fantastic location- it manged to convey a feeling of being reasonably luxurious but also with a friendly /personal feeling. Room was a little small but very comfortable nonetheless
Our Walnut room was great, enjoyed the jet bath thoroughly! No leisure facilities on site, you have to drive to another hotel and finding a parking space is a little bit of a nightmare. Dinner in the hotel is overpriced for what it was
Excellent food, relaxing enjoyable break and very friendly staff
It was first class, in every respect
The way we had our own little building and not part of main hotel Nothing
food and service
The booked room, ended up being already booked, got given another choice, which was ok. Promised flowers and champange when arrived, as the honeymoon suit was advertised availible, as compensation and wasn't done.
The staff were delightful (very helpful and full of character), The meals were mouth watering and well proportioned (you must try the tomato soup) The room was well thought out, and the location was beautiful (even in the rain). I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Broad Oaks again. My only niggle was to do with some minor decoration flaws. Our toilet roll holder needed another screw to secure it and the spa bath soaked the floor when the shower head was in use. Really very minor flaws
Very quiet which is just what i was looking for, Brilliant for its action for the blind It was clean but the sofa was at the end of it life, the bathroom cuboards were peeling, I def did not expect this as if i had paid 5 more pounds I would have ended up in a four star slightly down the road
Nice location, reasonably priced Dinner Food quality was average.
Big room. Comfortable beds. The hotel was good. However I was not aware that this was a hotel, with a particular emphasis on blind guests at time of booking. This was not a problem, infact it had excellent services. The only issue is that I have an allergy to dogs. But apart from that minor issue, the hotel was good, and we enjoyed our weekend away.
All excellent None
Having use of the pool was great and it was nice that it was geared towards a good charity. Great location and all the looks of an old manor house, our room also had a view of the Lake. The price really was excellent value. Unfortunately, the room did smell a little like a residential home but not over bearing. We were told room service was £5 but then on check out it was £5 each. it was no big deal and the reception guy did not seen keen on us using the sunbed which was included he said it was not working but then there was a token next to the box, so I popped it in and enjoyed the sunbed anyway.
Convenient location for what we needed, room large and warm Beds were awful, old and squeaky, really bad. Also room looked over the back gardens and as we had window open because room was so warm all kitchen smells came in. Breakfast waited a long time to be served.
Staff extemely helpful and very apologetic and they had noticed the smell also but thought it came from the laundry below which had gas propelled equipment so we were offered a full refund. Room was horrendous more like a dormitary and there was a very bad smell so I am afraid we checked out as they couldn't change the room.
Hotel clean and the staff were friendly and very helpful. Food was very tasty and very well presented. None
this hotel was good value would go back staff very friendly
food was good and staff very helpful. if you stay just one night, not much oppertunity to use the swimming pool etc due to room times
Location excellent for where we wanted Mattress on the hard side but generally good
It was a very warm environment with extremely friendly people. Very close to the town center and with a nice lake view. I found the room somehow small, for a 4-star hotel.
Staff very friendly and helpful, looking forward to booking stay at the white lodge again. None
Attending a wedding and Taking a cruse on the lake Bed was too soft, if staying longer could be a problem.
Good location, owners very welcoming
Friendlines of staff
The friendliness and helpfulness of staff. Bed a little uncomfortable. Half hour slot for breakfast a little strict, however breakfast was very nice.
The location of the hotel was excellent for walking to both Bowness and Windermere. The number of restaurants within walking distance was very good.
Everything.Very freindly also very helpful loved it will return so with my husband.
Room Service, Breakfast
*Great reception area & lounge *Tea-making facility *Ironing facility *TV *Clock radio *Size of room - very cramped *Bed - not completely comfortable, pillows dreadful (went and bought my own in the end). *3-day stay, yet bedlinen not changed once / bed not even made properly. *Limited storage space. *Shower not good - temperature almost impossible to regulate. *"Full english breakfast" - nice but certainly not full, quite scant. *Landlady mostly but not always helpful. *Hotel information booklet supplied by hotel wildly out of date / some inf' obsolete. *Too close to main road - kept awake by traffic.
Good breakfast, clean comfortable room. Not convenient for lake, long walk to get there and back
Welcoming drink, knowledgeable hosts,relaxed atmosphere
Accompanies with two guests from America, we stayed one night during our journey from Chester to Scotland. The owners gave us a first rate reception and made our stay a memorable experience. The hotel recommended for dinner was of an equally high standard. We would use this guest house whenever in the area.
It was very homely, comfortable, clean and excellent value for money. The food was also excellent. Strongly recommended for a short break. Nothing I did not like.
1st class hotel felt that the breakfast times were to rigid , would be better to be available later
Staff attentive, tea & coffee given to us on arrival would not hesitate to rebook on our next Lake district holiday. People in room above were slightly niosey however the owners dealt with the problem immediately.
Apart from the excellence of the hotel itself,Martin and Sue, owners, were just brilliant. First class hosts.
My partner and I thought the food was excellent and the service first class. The location was good within a short walk to shops/pubs. This hotel is more suited to the mature client. Our room was quite dark and lighting poor, it needed brightening up. TV reception poor, when we complained it seemed it's an ongoing problem. We were compensated with a free bottle of wine and chocolates which was nice of them.
The staff were welcoming, and friendly. The gardens and building are impressive and attractive. The room facilities were acceptable. Room was too small and dark. Bed although a double was small and pillows very uncomfortable. Rooms should have independent temperature control as they were too hot, Generally hotel in need of a little bit of TLC on its decor. Expensive for what it offers.
The hotel had a calm quiet atmosphere. Beautiful views and excellent dining experience. Staff where very helpful and service was excellent. Everything was fine.
The room was nice and spacious in a perfect location and the staff were very helpful in suggesting activities we could do during our stay in the Lakes Nothing
Convienient to town and walks. Bathroom was the smallest and worst i've used in 20 years. SO SMALL
Courteous reception and Good breakfast. Bathroom ergonomics were poor; very high traffic noise; hotel floodlight shone through the bedroom window; service at breakfast was mediocre.
We have stayed before and thought that the service was that fantastic it couldn't get any better - but it did!
Nice staff good location room was very small - bit pricey considering - hotel could do with a freshen up as very tired looking inside
the view from room was lovely (lake view). Restaurant was very good, foodexcellent. the room needed updating. the furniture was old and some damamged. the bed was bit uncomfortable.
it was ok
Made to feel very welcome. Room clean and comfortable with good facilities. Excellent breakfast.
The proprieters were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. They knew the area well and recommended good restaurants to eat at. Nothing was too much for them and they have created a comfortable, relaxing hotel.
the service from staff the washing facilitywas small but adequatei would have liked it to be bigger
Very relaxed atmophere. Room was adequate for our needs the location pretty central for travel to the Lakes area.
Beautiful room. Breakfast selection good.
The owners were really friendly and made us feel really welcome. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was lovely with a really good choice and the cooked breakfast was perfectly cooked and not at all greasy. Overall we would strongly recommend The Wheatlands Lodge as a place to stay.
Nothing was too much trouble for the wonderful owner Sarah; I can honestly say that this is one of the nicest places ive ever stayed in in the UK in 30 years! Nothing at all-it was a flawless place to stay!
Immaculate, tastefully decorated, excellent sized rooms, friendly staff and excellent location. Highly recommended
I loved the Wheatlands lodge! Our room was big, with the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in, lovely jacuzzi bath, flatscreen tv...I was so sorry we only stayed for two nights! The location is also great, with lots of restaurants and a couple of bars nearby.Breakfast was lovely, with a variety of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, croissants, full breakfasts, smoked salmon etc. Nothing, it was perfect. It's not a licensed premises but as I've said there are bars and restaurants closeby, and a corkscrew in the room if you want to enjoy your own bottle.
Very friendly owner, room was very comfortable, good location which was close to various ammenities and attractions.
The staff were so friendly, welcoming, warming and kind. They could not do enough for us.We will be going back to the lodge and we would recommend this hotel to anyone. N/A
Very homely and friendly hotel, owners are lovely. Great breakfast. Spotlessly clean, comfortable room and en-suite. Would definitely go again. Nothing
Location, warm friendly caring hostess 'Sarah', beautiful decor, spacious, clean, stylish, private, delicious breakfast! Loved everything!! Would thoroughly recommend 100%. N/A
It was everything i could imagine.
