Cons: "completely destroyed all of my luggage by somehow breaking the hot sauce in my bag that was so carefully packaged that a 400 pound man must have been jumping up and down on top of for them to break it the way that they did. also i had to correct a tag on my bag that they put on that would of sent it to a completely different town. not that any of my clothes are salvageable now anyways. but the complete lack of remorse and or apology for such an obvious mistake is appalling. the whole airline should be ashamed of the employees i encountered on this trip."

Cons: "Our flight was overbooked because the original plane was grounded so we were kicked off the flight with no advance notice. We were told when we went to check in at the airport that the next available flight was Tuesday. Our original flight was Saturday. It wasn't until my husband demanded to speak to a manager and with much debate to the manager that we got a flight the next morning. Although they had to fly us into Tampa instead of Orlando. Doubtful we will be flying Spirit again."

Cons: "Baggage fees for a carry on were ridiculous. $57 for a regular carry on to store in the overhead bin. With gas prices falling to record lows, why do airlines still charge these additional fees? Oh, I guess we're used to paying them, so let's not stop now. For my carry on to fly with me, it cost about 20% of the total fare. The percentage of total fare price would be much higher, but my particular flight was $259. If I had flown into Ft Lauderdale instead of Ft Myers, the fare would have been $103, making the baggage fee over 50% of the total cost...this should be looked into."

Cons: "Told agents that my wife is Russian, but is a permanent resident, so they told me to put the resident card number on her reservation, but did not mention anything about her Russian passport being needed. So once we discovered that we needed my wife's passport, I contacted Uber to pick me up. take me home, so I could get her passport, but, since her reservation was in her married name, the agent had to redo her reservation to her maiden name and we missed our flight. Also, since I had already checked in with one bag, the bag made the flight without us, as it was not in the Houston airport."

Cons: "The planes were alarmingly old. They were not comfortable and while I'm sure they do safety checks, there was so much flexing, rattling, and groaning that it did not feel safe. On our way out of the country - they did not have pens to fill out the customs forms, and told us that if we made a mistake we were out of luck because they didn't have extras. It should be more clear (before purchase) that the price for any bag (even a carry on) is so high - it raises the price of the ticket $100 which is significant On arrival in US they NEVER told us what carousel our bags were on, it was not posted, even on the carousel... it took us forever to find them"

I waited in the lobby for an hour and went bag at 2:35 mentioned what happen and the guy told the women helping me after giving me a dirty look he would do me a favor and let me check-in. Then I went thru security to the gate. Just don't get it and why it's my fault. Thought was totally unnecessary guess he had a bad day. Lol. Ok I vented."
Cons: "To start, I booked a hotel room close to the airport and upon my arrival at eight thirty in the evening I explained to the reception that I would need a shuttle at 5.15 in the morning..she then told me the shuttle didn't start till eight , so anyway I get a cab and arrive at 6 and as I approached the counter to get my boarding pass the lady blurted out with joy you're late and we have to rebook you. I said my flight was leaving at 6:30 she responded with a smile and pointed to a sight 45 minute before flight sight in required.. so a200 ticket ended up coating me double and I had to Waite in the airport 5 hours and go to Fort Lauderdale and wait there for another 4 hours.. I will never spend a dime on spirit again.. one bag 50 dollars , greedy,rudeness,just all around uglyou!!"

Cons: "The new chairs are horrendous. Like plastic seats with a vinyl cover and minimal padding. With limited legroom, normal on Spirit, the uncomfortable seats are just miserable. It would've been nice if they kept the headrest 'wings', but it's all about using economy as an excuse. The accompanying tray tables won't hold an iPad mini or similar tablet they're so small. The funny thing is I flew another airline for the first leg of this trip, for less money, with better seats, complimentary beverage and pretzels."

Cons: "Everything about spirit airlines was horrible! I understand the fact that the airport was evacuated was out of their control however the way they handled the situation was disgusting. The plane left about 30 passengers behind with the "next flight" being available TWO days later! Instead of helping us out one employee in particular started yelling back at the stranded passengers telling them and I quote "if you guys done stop yelling we will have some problems" once the passenger kept yelling how dare he yell at us and threaten us the employee stormed off saying "screw this I quit" and left. I have never seen such terrible service from any company. Spirit airlines with their "low fares" motto should change it to "low standards""

Cons: "They charged me $55 for my suitcase that was only 6lbs over the limit- which the previous airport only charged $25. They rip you off with those prices. Then I had a service dog with me and the gentleman assigned me to a middle row seat instead of a window seat which would have made sense for everyone's comfort. The seats are too small- most uncomfortable ride ever. I won't be flying with Spirit again."
Cons: "Them charging $100 at the gate for a carry on. My carry-on was a normal size bag which I have taken on MANY flights with different airline and have NEVER had any issue. When I checked in they did not say anything. At the security the attendant marked something on my boarding pass but did NOT advise me that my bag was big by their standard. When boarding the plane they saw my boarding pass and asked for $100. It was then they informed me that when I checked in they should have charged me $55 which is their rate. But at the gate it is $100. Since I was at the gate I had no choice but to pay the $100. $55 for carry-on bag that all other airline has not issue with is ridiculous. Having to pay $100 for a CARRY on bag is absurd. This was my first and last time with Spirit airlines. Nor will I ever recommend Spirit airline to anyone."

Cons: "Spirit's whole pitch is about being the "unbundled" airline. I guess it would be ok if you have no luggage and are under 5'3". The seats are extremely uncomfortable with zero leg room. When we went to check a bag, which had only clothes, it was 14 lbs over and we were told it would be $50 additional. That's after paying $42 for the bag already! So basically you can plan on almost paying for an extra ticket if you have a bag. When we booked, Spirit was the best price by only $12 ($6 per person). Refusing to pay this we joined about 5 other couples who were dumping their luggage onto the floor and carrying the excess. This is no way to start a vacation. It clearly had nothing to do with the maximum weight allowed on the plane, as all of our stuff came anyway. We just carried a bunch of it. I felt so bad for the reps who had to enforce such awful policies and overinflated prices. Contrary to the BS they feed you, this is not the norm. There are plenty of airlines that operate without deception and hidden fees. From a business perspective, this is beyond stupid as Spirit got no additional money from us and all they accomplished was losing customers who fly multiple times per year. We tried it because Atlantic City is close to home. After this experience we will gladly go back to driving 100 miles out of our way to avoid such a miserable experience. Spirit is not even an option for us anymore, regardless of price or location convenience. It's just too miserable overall. Whoever came up with this "unbundled" marketing pitch should be fired. I recommend avoiding Spirit if at all possible. Hidden fees, deception, sleezy marketing and uncomfortable seats. The whole experience is just plain terrible."
Cons: "I checked in at the airport for my departure to find out that it is legal for spirit to over book their flights, and was told I didn't have a seat. I requested to speak with the manager, (Helen- 67672) after speaking with a young girl who was extremely rude and unprofessional, (Ashley- 66584), and to my surprise the supervisor was just as uninformed and rude as the gate attendant. The flight was delayed, it was a complete mess. On the returning flight. I was unable to check in online for my flight. After numerous attempts, I called the airline to find that you can only check in online or at the airport. I ended up sitting in the very last seat in the back of the plane. It's like the back seat of the plane doesn't exist, no one asked to purchase beverages/snacks, which isn't as bad as forgetting to ask to take away garbage. Such a huge disappointment. I hate flying spirit, as do the majority of passengers I spoke with, but they are the only airline that flies from South Florida to Atlantic City. Whoever the airline is that starts to compete with spirit for that route will most definitely do well!"

Cons: "Kept delaying the flight from Atlantic city to fort laudetdale and then it was cancelled. Had to rebook a flight to Orlando , which left 6 hours later than our original time. Was traveling with my friend and her 10 week old baby. When we got to Orlando they couldn't find the car seat. Staff was very rude and told us it wasn't on the plane and take a 5 minute walk to baggage. Had to take a shuttle to baggage and of course it wasn't on carousel. After 2 hours of waiting and basically fighting for our rights we got the car seat and were able to leave. We got a @ sorry" e mail from spirit along with a $100 voucher. Sorry Spirit but you can keep your voucher because we will NEVER fly you again. They had no empathy at all for the mothers with new babies. Worst flying experience ever!!!"

If I was late to my flight the plane would leave without me so everyone else could be on time. So why don't The same rules apply to The crew? The three hour delay ruined basically our whole trip. We got set back an entire day and instead of getting in at a decent time and being able to drive. Also, Spirit charges and over charges for everything under the sun. So you "cheap flight" cost me more then other airlines. Completely disapointed and after my flight home Sunday we're never flying spirit again."

I chose my luggage before getting to the airport but did not choose seats. I was then unable to update luggage for the remainder of the day. When I went back to check the max weight for my one piece of luggage I could not get to the area on their site I paid for my luggage. I searched and searched as I was packing. I found information on the spirit site stating 50lbs. OK. I got to the airport and was told the max weight for my bag at that price was 40lbs. I had to pay an additional $25. My plane was then delayed because the auxiliary power source died. We had to get towed back to the gate to get a jump start. A few people scared by the issue and got off the plane. We arrived 1.5 hours late. The issue was Spirits. They made no offers for the inconvenience. Not even a free drink. I have also been bumped and stuck over night in as Spirit over books. I DON'T BELIEVE THEY REALLY SAVE YOU MONEY. The price you are quoted on Kayak or similar sitems with Spirit is never the price you pay. IT IS ALWAYS MORE."
