It was boarded and ready to go around 7:00. Then....we taxied down the runway only to stop because of a situation on THIS plane (a light that did not go off). It was fixed pretty quickly and meanwhile a rep. from Delta boarded the plane, apologizing for our inconvenience and handed out Jolly Ranchers. REALLY? After that, she and the flight attendants did give us a free drink/headset coupon. That would have been nice but it expires Dec. 2017 and the flight attendant stopped serving drinks about half way down the aisle because the flight was so short. The coupon will be of no use to me. I finally got to Raleigh about 9:30...I booked the flight so I wouldn't have to drive at night.. Sigh....Delta used to be my favorite airline."

It was lucky that she found Chinese speaking customers to help her."

Everything was on time, and the crew was friendly and attentive. We had exit row seats so the leg room for this 90 minute flight was great compared to our first part (London-Atlanta)"

Ground assistance (wheel chair) left me with a badly bruised left big toe and I didn't think we'd ever get through the TSA. The pat-down I received was more like a sexual assault and I didn't even get a happy ending. We made it to RDU, so the exercise was a success, but it was a huge hassle."

This caused me to bend my 3.5mm headphone connection at one point while I was moving my leg, because the connection jack is located below thigh level. The temperature was unbearable, and could not be controlled by the flight crew. Dressed for winter weather and roasted for the entire flight. I actually was dehydrated when we landed because I was sweating for 7 hours crossing the ocean."

She also checked on us multiple times to see if there was anything else she could help us with."

Also, the plane is older than the one I first took on the RDU to london route back in 2001. The seating is cramped and there is no seat back entertainment."

Also, since it was next to bathroom, the smell wasn't great and the small child screaming while waiting to get into the bathroom wasn't pleasant."

As a full-paying customer I shouldn't be the one to suffer because of it."

Cons: "Security was down to 4 officers after 8 pm, which is normal practice. We where in line for 2 hrs with TSA. Neither airline made any attempt to assist getting us to the gate faster to make our flight on time. We received no assistance from United or Lufthansa airlines and had to sleep in the airport overnight."
Pros: "The crew for this flight was amazing! Very helpful and informative. Friendly is an understatement. Safety was a priority especially when we went through a little turbulence. Thank you for making this a wonderful experience."
Cons: "Besides taking off late, the worst part was the new seats are the smallest ever. I could not sit without my knees jammed into the seat in front of me, and on both legs, Ithe seats were narrow that the people next to me and I were overlapping shoulders - that was a first. Unless its flights in the future are significantly advantageous, United's losing my business. It's not worth saving a few bucks to me to be so uncomfortable."

Cons: "Tried to charge us $200 for 'oversized luggage' when we have flown with that bag 2 other times. The UA tag was still on it! Then, after the kiosk agent slapped my hand away from the machine, I asked for a supervisor, who declined the bag anyway. But after prodding asked for a solution, a box(nice and convenient to handle through an airport) & we had to throw our expensive piece of luggage away, only to see a worker pull it away from the trash. By this time, it was 20 minutes until departure and I had to ask the same supervisor for assistance, pointing out our situation. Are these workers not trained to know which flights are leaving when? Or do they just not care at all? Worried we might not make the flight, we asked for a ride from 2 transit vehicles(I have a rebuilt knee and can't go fast) and you guessed it, were denied. Regardless, we eventually made it to the gate to be greeted by a 'oh there you are' where I tried to grasp for some, for any understanding from this company. Ok, here's the kicker: when we got on the plane, there were many open seats in the middle. My mom asked if we could sit in one and was told that it would be $91, even though the flight wasn't full. What is really going on? So there we all cram into the back of the plane. I am Not exaggerating when I tell you that I could not extend my are fully in front of me-that's how close the rows were!! The video was playing the safety message and we all looked at each other knowing that there was no physical way to reach under the seat 'in the case of a emergency'. The flight was turbulent, but you can't really help Mother Nature & we arrived alive, so I'll give you that. But as we landed, a piece of the seat in front of us landed on my moms foot. Pros: "The single best thing was that the cabin lights were dimmed on the way to Raleigh so I could sleep since it was so late. The crew was polite and patient. Getting re-booked for a new flight after my original flight had been cancelled wasn't too bad. Text message updates are helpful (but could use more info)."
Cons: "I arrived into Newark to find out that my flight had been cancelled. I'm still not sure why it was cancelled. Then, I was placed on a new flight that was intended to leave at 8:30pm, but didn't leave until 1:00am. I spent 10 hours in the Newark airport where, even though charging stations were in abundance, wifi was non-functioning. I received 7 text messages, each one with new departure times. I appreciated the texts, but would have liked to have more information about why we were delayed. Communication from gate agents can go such a long way. I spent a ton of money on bad airport food and couldn't work due to the lack of wifi. I never understand why nothing is offered to passengers in return for such delays--whatever happened to food vouchers, etc.?"
