Cons: "The blonde woman doing all the announcements was rude"
Pros: "I like the cheap price of the ticket, Spirit charges for each bag. We paid over$200 in luggage fees! Then they charged us for $3 for a can of soda! Never again."
Cons: "I like the cheap price of the ticket, Spirit charges for each bag. We paid over$200 in luggage fees! Then they charged us for $3 for a can of soda! Never again."
Pros: "Boarding was efficient Price was reasonable Flight boarded and landed on time"
Cons: "Leg room was tight Wish the people at the gate were a little more friendly"
Pros: "Friendly funny staff . No issues!"
Pros: "Great price...decent comfort... left on time and arrived 30 min early. No snacks/wake up meant a good relaxing flight with a nap."
Cons: "Delayed, on take off. Long time getting luggage after flight. Everything cost money even water."
Pros: "On time"
Cons: "I'm only 5'6" and my knees were jammed into the seat in front of me... wildly uncomfortable."
Cons: "I find this company to be a con .. when I pay $54 for a flight, only to get to the gate and told I need to pay $57 to carry on my luggage, it feels like I'm being hustled by a street merchant. Its unfair, it doesn't seem ethical, and I'll never fly them again. SO cheap, that they pulled this tactic, and its a shame Kayak does business with them, gives you a bad name as well. Honesty is everything, this company is an F-"
Pros: "Quick boarding"
Cons: "$55 for carry-on, $4 for snack, no entertainment, no Internet, no reclining seats"
Pros: "Clean airplane."
Cons: "I feel cheated and deceived. A checked bag costs $50. A carry on costs $55. If you don't realize this before you go the gate it goes from $65 to $100. The counter crew was rude, and the boarding crew in Cleveland was shaking down passengers to be sure they were not "cheating", stopping the boarding process to check passenger receipts. Getting an assigned seat, an extra $15 per person. And there was absolutely no leg room for that extra $15 (which I paid for). These costs should be shared upfront - basically every ticked is $50-$65 more than the website shows. I will not fly this airline again."
Pros: "WOW! Super impressed with the staff. I hadn't flown spirit in years because I had such bad memories about the spirit credit card (false promises) and bad experiences with the staff. But EVERY spirit person was great. From check in, to the flight attendants, to pilots, to people at the boarding gate… really great team now in 2016"
Cons: "Those seats NEED to recline. You have to fix this on your planes. I couldn't sleep I was so uncomfortable and I can usually always sleep…. Pleaseeee recline those joints"
Cons: "Flights were near on time but seats are very uncomfortable. Flight attendants in their own world and talking together since they had nothing much to do. Will not book a spirit flight again. Will go with the comfort of Jet Blue."
Cons: "I disliked the fact that the plane took off after the designated takeoff time. When I brought up the fact that I would definitely miss my connecting flight in Florida I was assured that if that was the case I would be provided with accommodation if I had to stay overnight."
Cons: "The flight was delayed and no one notified us at the gate or gave us an update The flight attendants were extremely rude she kicked my bag under the seat because it wouldn't fit"
Pros: "JETBLUE, thats what I liked about Spirit"
Cons: "I called Customer Service to change/delay my flight after the storm and the woman I spoke to didn't speak English, kept repeating something that had nothing to do with my call, she also kept calling me "Karen", not Caroline, and when I said "its Caroline" or "are you sure you're speaking with Caroline? I do not think this is right" she would reply "ya ya ya ya ok Kahhhreeeen" and then hung up on me after saying she was transferring me to a "specialist". I called back and the second man I talked to said he wouldn't (not couldn't, he would not) push my flight back b/c it was still on time and there was only a "weather advisory". "Have I helped you with everything you need today, Caroline?" He asked SERIOUSLY DUDE? Well, well, well... two hours later guess whose flight was CANCELLED.. MINE! With no tickets available to Palm Beach until the next week (if only he had transferred me to the Thursday flight like I wanted, that a**hole!!), except on JetBlue for over $420 one way, I went with JetBlue- like I will always do from now on. Everyone is right and it's my fault for not listening- like my brother told me, Spirit is the FUNG WAH of airlines.. If you know what that is then you know what he's talking about. Never again will I purchase tickets with Spirit, never again. If Hell freezes over and one day the only option is Spirit, I'll wait or walk to my destination. Thanks!!"
Pros: "No food or movies but on time and inexpensive."
Pros: "Attendants were nice, good communication from Pilots."
Cons: "Seats are cramped for leg room. Plane looked new and was clean. If you are over 5'11 you will need to upgrade to bigger seat."
Cons: "Surprise bag fees higher than advertised online. The whole process is obviously designed to price gouge. The flight ran out of all whiskey and scotch less than two hours in."
Pros: "It flew me from Boston to Florida."
Cons: "The seats don't recline. Everything is an upsell on Spirit including checking in ($18!). It wouldn't surprise me if they put bill acceptor at the bathroom door to pay $3 a flush. If you are over 5 feet 10" this will be the most uncomfortable plane ride of your life so beware the cheap flight price."
Cons: "The constant commentary from the pilot and crew over the loudspeaker- we were told about 10 times that we would be 5 minutes late, then 5 minutes early, then late, then early. I'd prefer some peace and quiet. Commercials over the loudspeaker for Spirit credit cards? Ads for a strip club in Vegas on the walls of the airplane? These made for a very unpleasant trip. Also, making customers pay for water on the plane is ridiculous. The whole pay for each and every item that most people take for granted on other lines actually makes Spirit cost as much as another airline, so it's not actually a "budget" line. Also, I was not informed I would have to pay $40 for a carry on until check in. I will not fly Spirit again."
Cons: "Service was poor I felt like I was in a three card Monty rip off. I will never again use your services please refrain from any attempt at communication. I deal with hundreds of people a month I will make sure that I discourage any one dealing with your inadequate overpriced inconvenient and embarrassing services. I honestly feel that a refund is in order. Lawrence P."
Pros: "The crew members were very pleasant."
Cons: "Unfair and deceptive trade practice: I bought my airline ticket from a third party (Kayak.com), so it wasn’t until I went on the Spirit Airline website to do the online check-in that I saw that I would have to pay to bring on a carry on bag. When I called Spirit Airlines customer service, they kept stating that I had to pay to bring on a carry on bag because I had only paid for the ticket to ride on the plane. However, the plane ticket was only about $40 less that the next lowest ticket price and it was going to cost me $90 to carry a bag on both flights. Unacceptable! Overcrowded flights: The seats are closer together on Spirit flights than I’ve seen on any other airline, and I travel often. Matter of fact, the seats are so close together that they don’t even recline…there’s NO room to recline! Since I couldn’t recline, when I fell asleep my head kept rolling forward and waking me up. This happened on the departing and returning flight. It was awful. No electronic tickets: I’ve been using electronic tickets to travel for awhile now, so I automatically created a screenshot of the ticket for the Spirit flights. It wasn’t until I made it through security check line that the agent told me I had to got to the Spirit Airline counter and get a printed ticket. Only Spirit Airlines and possibly one other airline don’t allow electronic tickets. It’s a simple thing to provide to Spirit Airline customers to make the flying process easier, but Spirit Airlines doesn’t provide them. You pay for EVERYTHING: Spirit airlines doesn’t allow customers to bring on a free carry on, they charge for all seats selected, sodas are only available for a fee, and they even charge if you go to the counter to speak with an agent. It’s preposterous! BOTTOM LINE: Spirit Airlines makes it seem as though they are saving customers money by making them pay for only the things they use, but it’s just not so. Spirit Airlines nickel and dime customers and end up making a lot of in the end. They know charging for carry on items will deter people from bringing luggage onto the plane; therefore, they actually save money because the plane is lighter and uses less fuel. They say that the ticket price is so much cheaper than other airlines, but when you figure in the cost of carry on baggage, price for seats that provide the same leg room as other airlines as part of the original ticket price, and money customers have to pay if they need agent assistance, it’s a sham. I will NEVER fly with Spirit Airlines again."
Pros: "Sat on the tarmac for an hour before leaving. Stewardesses yelled at every person waiting to use the bathroom for congregating in the aisle (including a pregnant woman and a lady with a screaming toddler). Seats were very narrow, didn't recline, and were impressively uncomfortable even for airline seats."
Cons: "Bad service, extra fees, and poor quality. It would surprise me if this company started charging to use the restroom."
Pros: "Very long and not very comfortable flight"
Pros: "Sat in the front rows, the 'Faux'-st class seats. Worth the $55."
Cons: "Because Kayak is a 3rd party the fees associated with Spirit are not clear when purchasing the tickets, nor is any related information provided in subsequent emails."
Pros: "Quick boarding/exit upon arrival."
Cons: "Poor communication, delays on same trip, Spirit staff failing to accommodate connecting flight even after verifying they would take care of everything since airline was responsible for extreme delay. No notification given that there would be no connecting flight."
Cons: "They canceled the final leg of my flight to Oakland and had no comparable solutions to get me home within 12 hours. Now they're only offering me a $70 refund when I had to pay $300+ to actually get home for my 2yr old nephew's funeral. never flying spirit again. They could have been finding alternatives for me before I landed since it was canceled for mechanical issues."
Cons: "The whole day sucked. My flight was delayed several times. After calling them while at home to see what they were going to do for me missing my connecting flight, the man who was very hard to understand and don't give me a chance to say a word told me I would have to wait until I was at the airport to ask one of the representatives. I waited over an hour in line just to get to the check-in counter when I was then rudely rushed to make a decision regarding what I want to do since the delay caused me to miss my connecting flight to Portland. They told me they wouldn't compensate me for a hotel, transportation, or food during the 22 hour period I would have to wait in Las Vegas because it was out of their control. The seat didn't recline. The tray table is about a quarter of the size of a normal one."
Pros: "Literally the only good thing about my experience was that the flight attendants were excellent."
Cons: "They trick you into thinking the fare is cheap, but they nickle and dime you. One 50lb bag and one carry on and a purse cost me $137 to check. Yes, that's right, they charge your for a CARRY ON and their bag weight limit is 40lbs! If your flight gets delayed and you miss a connection it will likely be days later (4 days in my experience ) before they can fly you home and they will fight you on any sort of refund or compensation."
Cons: "THEY SUCK"
Pros: "Big front seats are worth the price, especially as compared to the standard seating."
Cons: "The flight was delayed three hours due to a mechanical issue. That happens. but they re-booked my connection without asking me whether I wanted to wait and see if I could make it (the connection looked like it would leave an hour before the new arrival time when they re-booked me). The connection ended up being delayed, and the door was still open when I was at the connecting gate. I asked both at the gate before my first flight and at the gate at my connection whether I could possibly get on my connection still, and was refused both times. Instead I had to stay overnight, get four hours' sleep, and return to the airport in the morning for the re-booked flight. Also, before the first flight, one passenger was a bit rude to a crew member. The crew member responded by getting in the passenger's face, demanding an apology, and then summoned the police to remove the passenger from the flight. While the passenger also had some fault in the matter, the situation could have been resolved in a much more professional and less drastic way."
Pros: "And the next flight was four days later"
Cons: "over 4 hour delay, no other flights in airport delayed"
Cons: "no Wifi, excessive baggage fees, no food"
Pros: "The crew was great. Very nice and available."
Cons: "We boarded late but we're assured we'd be boarding fast to get us going quickly. But no. We sat on the runway for an hour and a half. Seats were cramped but that was almost expected. Our connecting flight was delayed leaving but we didn't make it in time and had to spend the night in Vegas. Also the cab didn't take my voucher because there was no writing on it so I had to pay $30 for a ride back to the airport in the morning."
Pros: "The flight was smooth"
Cons: "The plain was dirty there was trash in my seat on the way back"
Pros: "We made it to our destination"
Cons: "Extra charges for EVERYTHING carry on bag -- $36 you want a seat -- $10 to $55 -you can let them "pick" seats for you but no guarantees you will be put together with your young children. ...Oh yeah and the fees increase as you get closer to the flight date. Costs go up to $100 / bag (minimum charge) if you do it at the checkin counter. I honestly don't mind the À la carte service but i should be stated very clearly at the time of purchase. By the time I purchased everything I could have had much better service from another carrier for less money."
Cons: "Flights were delayed. Spirit lost our luggage after they forced us to pay over $100.00 for baggage expenses. My bride and I had medications, gifts and clothes needed for this holiday trip, Since this incident, we had to cancel plans and spend additional money, This is completely unacceptable. We will be looking into filing complaints with the federal trade commission, the attorney general, better business bureau to name a few.Flights were delayed. Cons: "Both of my flights were delayed. Neither flight updated the departure time but instead left everyone waiting at the gate without any information about what was happening. The spirit staff we're rude and didn't seem to care for their guests concerns. My connecting flight in Atlanta didn't have the accurate gate listed on the airport's departing flight screen. To top things off my luggage was lost and I haven't received it yet. I will not be flying with spirit again, and I'm terrified to see what is in store for my flight home."
Pros: "All staff were terrific!. Flight on time. Luggage speedy."
Cons: "I hate that the crew makes fun of themselves for being an airline that charges for everything; that's not endearing, it just pisses people off more about the charges that come left and right. Honestly the worst airline I've ever flown with."
Cons: "They charged $50.00 for one small bag to check in and they lost it. All my belonging is in that bag for this trip. What am I going to do now?"
